He could have sold me a new one -- I would have been happy -- but he offered to remake it for me at a fraction of the price. It arrived in the mail today. The most unprofessional, rude customer service I have ever experienced. If you want to do anything custom to a ring, I suggest not going here. I called Ken to ask to set up an appointment to take a look at my mom's ring and see how I can turn it into my wedding band. He started off the call with an attitude and asked "why are we doing this?" which I had to remind him that it was my mother's ring and important to me. He practically laughed in my face when I told him I wanted to wear it alongside my engagement ring. This is before he has even seen the ring mind you... He was super negative about the idea of it and when I finally gave up and said I think I'll call elsewhere he hung up on me. He sounds like an angry old man that's been doing it forever but not open minded at all. I'd recommend going elsewhere where people will happily work with you to accommodate something that is special and important to you. read more

Ken made my "replacement" wedding ring in 1981. It's a thick gold band with lapis inlay and a 1-ct. diamond solitaire. I've received many compliments over the years, and now that I'm divorced, I wear it on my other hand. When the original was stolen in 2002, Ken still had the mold and made a new one! I've purchased several pieces, mostly rings and opals. I think his prices are reasonable, except for black pearls which are about 3x what you would pay in Hawaii. I'm going to Laguna next week for a mini-vacay and will definitely stop by Ken's. read more
