Awful. Unsafe, found hair in my food and it wasn't cooked all the way. They did nothing to help me, no refund

I recently moved closer to this area after being out of state for many years. I attended college in Framingham and Ken's was a staple then, in the 1970s. It's about the only thing on busy route 9 that remains the same, other than the university. I was excited to revisit the place, almost fifty years later. A music group I follow was playing in the lounge, so that's where we sat. I did take a quick peek at the other dining rooms and found them to be very well appointed. They filled up quickly on this chilly Friday evening. The place is classy and cozy, with dark walls and white ceilings. Even in the lounge, tables were dressed with white linens and set ups, making it very inviting. Seating options include bar, high top, regular tables, some of which are nestled into an alcove. Service was prompt and efficient. We arrived separately and were both greeted immediately, drink order taken. We decide to share appetizers and ordered the Brussels sprouts, fried calamari and onion rings. It was a delectable feast, both visually and taste wise. Portions were generous. The sprouts were tossed in aioli with just a touch of garlic. The calamari was golden fried and tossed with pepper rings and halved cherry tomatoes - a nice touch. The star was the pile of onion rings, which were obviously hand cut and fried perfectly - not greasy with batter that clung loosely to the onion. They were served with ketchup, which seems an insult to the rings. I briefly considered asking for a different dipping sauce, but quickly realized that none was necessary. They stood on their own. The cocktails were well crafted, the music amazing. The general manager was visible throughout the evening, checking in and asking if people were pleased. We enjoyed a nice leisurely chat with him, which lended a personal touch to the experience. It's obvious why this place has stood the test of the! I can't wait to return! read more

We had an early dinner on Sunday, March 9th. the service was good. Lily was most attentive and pleasant. The table was set with cloth napkins and tablecloth. The salads were good. However, our entrees were most disappointing. I ordered the Chicken Marsala. I asked for the pasta to be cooked "tender" and not al dente. The chicken was fine but the entire dish was swimming in a watery/soupy sauce not reduced to a rich sauce as expected. The pasta was not as requested but tough and chewy. My dining partner ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was tasty, but the pasta in tomato sauce was dry and chewy. Overall a disappointing dining experience. They should have skipped the renovation and just closed the doors, for ever. I would not even call this slop food. Prime rib was chewy. It was probably from Chewy. Chicken Picata, Marsala and others I can not identify were vomit material. At this point you are better getting a Hungry Man frozen entree from a grocery store and eating it un cooked. No exaggeration. The staff? Waitress? Service? None. Better of having a child waiting on you. Avoid this worst of the worst sorry excuse of a Landmark. Signed a party of six. read more

Onion Ring appetizer huge order that seemed more frozen than fresh cut and disliked the batter more like something you'd buy at Restaurant Depot. Same for calamari appetizer Burger was big but not great beef flavor. Steak fries also not good probably frozen not fresh cut. They forgot my griddled onions. The only bright aspect was that our young waitress was very nice and responsive. Do yourself a favor and pay more and go to a decent steakhouse. read more

I'll start out by saying that Ken steakhouse was pretty good. But that's my disappointment. I kind of expected it to be well over the top and it really did not deliver. I was kind of expecting staff that have been there for years and well taken care of and what I found was a lot of very young people that seem to be very early in their career while still in school. I was kind of expecting a nicer wine list not just the average restaurant wine list. I think Kymm Steakhouse has the ability to be one of the top steak houses in the area. If you have not been here lately run don't walk. Tonight my husband and I went and had the special - scallops linguini. By far the best I have ever had anywhere. I don't understand why it only has 2 1/2 stars, it was better than that! I got the Shepard's pie and it was amazing, probably even better than your mommas! It had a cheesy crust and was a large portion I could only eat half! The salad that came with it though was really chintzy, basically a plate of iceberg, at least their dressing lived up to their name. Their house red wine was terrible, I usually get house everywhere I go but this was so bad I had to send it back, recommend getting something better. My honey of 22 years took me out for dinner last night to Ken's steakhouse in Framingham it was an incredible dinner I have never had such a perfectly cooked steak in my life. Or at least in a long time. I think the last time was red coach grill I know that date me but I don't care We also had a beer and I had a very smooth basil Hayden bourbon to drink it was amazing it was also an incredible anniversary. I have not been here in about 30 years, the place has grown since but still has the old time feel. After dropping off someone at Logan Airport, I figured I would take my son here since the place is iconic, seeing that the salad dressing company started here. To start, I read the reviews. Most of them complain about waitstaff. I would agree. They are young, not attentive and do not know how to work a table. If you are leaving a table with an order, and see another that needs to be cleared, do it! The food was good. Calamari were a bit overcooked and chewy. Salads were excellent. Top sirloin NY cut (I would call it a NY Strip) was good, cooked nicely, and trimmed of fat very neatly. About 99% consumable! The steak fries were great. The prime rib stole the show here. So tender it melted in your mouth. The asparagus was ok, not cooked enough and the mashed potatoes tasted like a tv dinner box made potatoes. On our ride home we decided that Ken's is as good as a Texas Roadhouse, better than Outback and Longhorn, but not as good as Capital Grille or J Gilberts. It is worth stopping by to eat at this iconic spot. The live entertainment was good too. (Thursday-Saturday). read more

I would say this is an entry level steakhouse. Large portions but quality is just ok. Overpriced for the quality in my opinion. Ambiance: calm, quiet ambiance Food: mediocre. We ordered the special seafood casserole, queen cut prime rib, delmonico steak, lobster bisque, french onion soup, clam chowder, profiterole, and creme brulee. The bisque was creamy but didnt have the lobster taste. The french onion was alright. Not bad but not the best. The clam chowder was very good. The seafood casserole was a fail. The casserole had a good mix of seafood but it tasted like they poured the lobster bisque over the casserole. Not very creative. The steaks were alright. Good size portions. Profiteroles were good. Profiteroles were stuffed with ice cream but unfortunately because it is ice cream it soaks into the shell making it not crunchy. Creme brulee was mediocre. Service: good service. Everyone was well dressed. Clean. Parking: huge lot with plenty of space. read more

We stopped for dinner in the Ken's bar. It was a very nice experience. They have a traditional steakhouse bar. There is a long bar and tables with ample seating. Ken's has giant screen TVs with plenty of viewing no matter where you sit. Our bartender was very attentive. They offer a full menu at the bar. Our dinner was delicious and we enjoyed a relaxed dinner while watching the baseball game. Ken's has a very big parking lot with plenty of spaces. read more

This is Fish & Chips (fries Replaced with mashed potato), but the story is that I had to break into the fish using a lot of force. The haddock inside tasted good, but wth did they fry it in? Two of us visited yesterday. We sat under the tent in the parking lot. The CoVid-19 precautions were in place. Waitstaff wearing masks, guests wearing masks until they reach their table. The one thing that was less than safe was our waitress, who was wearing a mask but still stood very close each time she visited our table. She was talking a lot and seemed a bit too comfortable. Anyway, the food was fine. I has the caesar salad and we shared shrimp cocktail. The salad was fresh and the shrimp were good. My dining companion had the scallops and i had the chicken parmesan. Food was fine, not great. Not sure if it was a great meal but it was fine. Kind of weird being on the parking lot with cars cutting through every so often. But that is not Ken's fault. Had a girls lunch here. Funny - none of us ordered steak. Maybe if we had, the experience would have been better. Overall it was just ok. Not great. Not bad. We were told we needed a reservation. When we arrived there was only 1 other party in the whole restaurant. I got soup and salad. The lobster bisque was a little thick. The salad was boring iceberg. Apparently they stock every Kens Steakhouse Salad Dressing. And they'd it have a list. So study up in your dressing options before you arrive if you intend to get a salad. Randomly stopped by to have dinner with my boyfriend and we were really happy with how our night went. The place is very fancy looking and it can be quite relaxing depending on what time you go i assume. Their caesar salad was very delicious and the lettuce was very fresh. Steak (filet) was very good. My son's chicken Marsala also good. The broccoli was the worst I've ever had. Tasteless, undercooked, no butter, no salt, no seasoning, absolutely awful. They brought an order of mashed potatoes to try and fix my dinner.....also tasteless and awful. Whoever prepared the sides has no business calling themselves a cook, a chef or a professional. No question you have to be a great place. What about one that's been around since 1935? Yes, I said 1935! That means they've been getting this not just right, but above and beyond for generations! I visited this past weekend for the first time in quite some time (I don't live near by so I only go here when I'm in the area), and I'm glad to say the meal didn't surprise me. I've come to expect certain things from Ken's - great service and food - and I got what I expected and they didn't disappoint! I got Ken's Sirloin (New York Style) with the Mashed Potatoes. I was in Steak Heaven. It was a fabulous steak and the mashed are equally heavenly! My salad was Ken's House. My wife got the baked stuffed shrimp with a baked potato (loaded), and for the salad she got the Caesar. The shrimp was tasty as was her salad. Our waitress was the epitome of a great waitress. She was friendly, professional, knowledgable and attentive without being overbearing. She should given lessons to other waitresses! There are a few minor, but yet important, items that in my opinion, should be improved. They certainly are the items that prevented me from giving them Five Stars. First, Ken's House Salad consisted mostly of lettuce. It had two wedges of tomato, and couple of onions. Nothing else. No cucumbers, no anything else. While included with your meal, you can get it separately for $7.00. For that kind of money, you need to give customers more than a plate full of lettuce. The baked potato itself is good. Nice size, and cooked well. The "fixings" need a little work. It was very salty, probably too salty for most peoples taste, and the bacon was not a good quality bacon and had a bit of an odd taste. That being said, it was a four star meal with five star service! I would advise them though to be cautious about keeping the status quo and alway keep looking forward; update your look, not so much to change your iconic status, but enough to be freshened and up-to-date. read more

Ken's is right up route 9. Very close by. Why did I stop going there? I remembered going out as a party of 7 women. The waitress was rude, service horrible, and food subpar. I never went back. That must be 25-30 years ago. Saturday night we are off to dinner with another couple and have no plans or reservations. My fiend suggested Ken's. I wasn't very enthusiastic, but thought...why not. So off we go. 2 Hostesses, absolutely lovely. Our table for 4 was ready in ,moments. Our waitress was amazing. Helpful and fun. We were all carnivores that evening. 3 ribeye's and one filet mignon, which was me. The hubs hates it when I order certain dishes, as I usually end up whispering.....mine is better. Not tonight my friends. This was the absolute BEST filet Mignon I have ever had. I couldn't eat it all, and at midnight, I just ate the small piece I had leftover. I swear it was even better than last night! My 3 companions all had the ribeye. These three individuals became members of the clean plate club, as you could not find a speck of food on their plates. This was the best steak I have (ad in a very long time. To Ken's, I have an apology. From all those years ago, the food wasn't super, a bunch of women ordering different things ,probably being bitchy to one and other, and one guest did get raw chicken. Had amazing service, our bartender Kevin went above and beyond. Best espresso martini I've EVER had. Food was great. Atmosphere was lively but not overbearing, the band duo acoustic did a great job with not being to loud and still maintaining an upbeat vibe. Will be back! read more
