Dr. Truong is incredibly skilled, gentle, and always takes the time to explain procedures and answer questions thoroughly. When an urgent issue emerged, he understood the urgency and saw me within a day. I genuinely feel like I am in the best hand every time I visit. What makes this office even more special is the front desk and staff (especially Elevia)! They are welcoming, organized, and always go above and beyond to make appointments smooth and stress-free. Dr. Truong and Venice Crossroads Dental is a hidden gem. I'd been disappointed by dentists in the area for a while- either they stopped taking delta dental or just seemed to spend 2 minutes on you and feel motivated by profit, saying you needed whatever they could bill a little extra for, like fillings when not actually necessary. Tired of the aggressive promo outreach and multiple follow-up calls just for routine scheduling, I'm so glad I found Dr. Truong, who is patient first. He does cleanings himself and while I had accepted swollen gums as just part of pregnancy like my old dentist had said with my first pregnancy, his thorough cleaning and treatment in one visit resolved it completely for the duration of my 2nd pregnancy! OK, I do not like Dentist. They are mean people. Right? Well, I think I have found a nice one. Just ONE, mind you. (There might be more) He did a nice trick with the needle, so I hardly felt it puncture my otherwise happy gums. Music that was right, and a friendly attitude. I really felt like he cared about what is going on in my mouth, when he is away. The room was nice, a short wait, and some samples to send me on my way. Dr. Truong and his staff take the hassle out of going to the dentist. The location is convenient and there is ample (free!) parking. The service is quite professional. Everything in the office is always clean, the environment is enjoyable and I always feel that I'm given plenty of information in advance about different procedures. I got my first visit appointment today.First of all there is a lot of parking. The office is clean and receptionist is nice and attentive. I filled up a short form.First impression about Dr.Truong (very polite and soft spoken).He explained to me very well what is the treatment.. cost and out of pocket payment. Perhaps a competent dentist but severely lacking in bedside manner. I was so thrown by how strange and moderately offensive his smalltalk and social skills are that I didn't notice my teeth didn't get polished until after I left, even though I paid over 125$ and was only there for a cleaning and basic check-up and was told a polish was included when I called back later and asked. Rather than going back and complaining, I'm just going to cut my losses and move on and find another dentist. There's so many in LA I really can't justify going back to this guy even though his office is across the street from me. Like I said, he seems to be a capable dentist, just kind of a smarmy douche. The bottom line is I would rather give my business to someone else. Update: found a new dentist and now that I have a comparison point I can say with confidence that my review was right on the money. I don't want to name my new dentist in this review because it might look like an advertisement and that's not my intention. But the difference was night and day: aside from Dr. Truong's horrible bedside manner and social skills, my new dentist laid out far better options for what I needed done. And it's not a matter of price, the pricing was comparable, it's a matter of respecting the patient and having the patient's best interest in mind. It's been a long time since I've been to a dentist, and selecting a a great one is key especially since I moved to a new state. I joined a dental discount plan and from there I got a list of participating dentists. I narrowed the list down to dentists in my area, and of course, looked on Yelp to see what type of reviews they got. Dr. Kevin Truong was one of the few I selected that had all positive Yelp reviews and based on that I decided to go with him. I was lucky to get an appointment the same day since I had a dental emergency, and Christina who works at the front desk was very helpful and sincere. I arrived there and was welcomed by her and then Lena, Dr. Truong's assistant, saw me first before he stepped in. Lena was very nice as well and easy to talk to. The patient rooms are soothing and there is nice art on the walls. I found out I had to get a root canal. Once Dr. Truong came in, he explained everything, didn't make any judgments on me not coming to the dentist for so long, and even has music playing in the background as he did his work. And I must say this root canal was a breeze, no pain and was so glad he made it easy. He has a sense of humor, but when it's time to get down to business he is focused and does his job well. He will be honest with you about what you need, and not try to add extra work with unecessary services. I left the office feeling wonderful and I am now a loyal patient! This is a 3 person team who does an excellent job from start to finish. I will definitely recommend him to others! read more

I've lived in LA for almost 20 years and I've had the worst luck with dentists. So much so that some of my teeth were in terrible shape. Kevin Truong saved my smile! Root canals are never fun but he put me totally at ease. He is so nice and completely charming and has a way of making you feel totally relaxed and at ease. Even when you're having a procedure that would be rather unpleasant anywhere else he's really good at making it as painless as possible, both physically and emotionally. His staff is friendly and professional, and make your visit a pleasant experience from beginning to end. Unfortunately for me, I have seen Dr. Truong many times over the last month. Taking two years off from seeing a dentist, and letting known problems wait, is not recommended. Kevin is efficient, and compared to other dentists I've had, practically pain free. I'm a busy person, and often times my availability is a mess. With every appointment, they would slot me in not months in advance (like other dentists) but even within the week, flexing to my schedule. I found Dr. Truong on yelp. Not only was he super good at what he's doing, he's super duper nice! I had regular cleaning of course and cavity filled. Cavity was filled very properly and efficiently. I only had slight discomfort for a week like Dr. Troung warned me and then it was fine :) All the staff are genuinely sweet and want to take care of you. Will recommend to anyone! I seriously wish I could give Dr. Truong and his staff more than 5 stars. I've been coming to this office for a good few years now, back when Dr. Sharon Lu was running it. My experiences with her were great and I'm glad she found a replacement that meets and exceeds any expectations I had. Dr. Truong has always been honest with me when it came down to the treatments I did or did not need. I've always respected this about him because it builds this relationship of trust and I know he's not out to get my money (like some dentists are!). He's also very gentle with his hand and I've never to hardly have felt his shots. A+ for this! Christina has always been great to me, too! I wish I could remember the name of the other assistant working in the office, but she's also shown the same kindness as the rest of the team. They are highly knowledgeable in their field and display a great amount of professionalism. Dr. Kevin Truong is the best! I've been to several other dentists before who have tried to sell me treatments I didn't really need...you don't have to worry about that here. I've had cavities filled, root canals, cleanings, crowns...you name it and he has always been patient and gentle. Finding a dentist who is really gentle is important to me because I have an extreme fear of dentists and needles, but Dr. Truong's shots are virtually painless! I have seen a lot of dentists in my day and I don't like going, but I do it because I would like having teeth for many years to come. The thing is dentists always seem to be selling you something-- bite plate for teeth grinding, sonic care tooth brushes, braces, teeth whitening, flouride treatments, orbit gum (yea I know right). Beyond that it's ok, come back for cleanings, oh do you want that bite plate for 600 bucks? I appreciated the thoughtful manner in which Dr. Troung went through my xrays and made recommendations that were conservative. He was professional and pleasant and I felt cared for. The space is somewhat awkward, it's like a large corridor but it works for the scale of the practice. Like everyone has noted it's immaculately clean and modern looking. My husband and I and our 2 year-old daughter saw Dr. Troung twice over the past year. My husband was in pain and needed a root canal, and Dr. Troung performed it. After a couple days of recovery, my husband was pain free! My daughter's first dental experience was with Dr. Troung, and he was nice, and inviting, and she made her feel comfortable. We came to him from another dentist in the area who was dishonest, charging us for ridiculous things and lying to us! I'm extremely happy to report that our experience with Dr. Troung and his office staff was exactly the opposite. Appointments were always easy to make, we never had to wait past our appointment time, they worked with our insurance, and most importantly...they were honest and the work performed was to the highest standards. I don't often say this after a doctor/dentist appointment, but I truly had a great experience with Dr. Truong! I've had a string of bad luck with dentists since moving to LA. And my husband found Dr. Truong and gave him a try. He couldn't stop raving about how nice he was and when I finally set up the appointment he was so happy it was like I was going on my first field trip of my life! Starting with Cristina the receptionist, everyone at the office is so pleasant and I just felt very welcomed. I just went in for a simple checkup, which lasted 44 minutes (I only noticed because I was told it would take 45!) and I actually walked out of there without paying a penny! He was also the first dentist in a VERY long time that gave me a "goody" bag with toothbrushes and things. Nice touch :-) The office is small but very clean, parking was super easy. There was a very loud woman on the phone in the waiting room but she was there for another doctor. Even though he's not a pediatric dentist I think I will take my kids there from now on. He is so gentle and patient I have no doubt my kids will be ok with him too. read more

So I was a bit skeptical about seeing Kevin, primarily because he took over the practice from my previous dentist. My partner, however, had great things to say about him so I decided to give it a go. The staff, who there previously, has always been great. They are professional caring people who have always taken fantastic care of me. Cristina and Lina are both the kind of people who actually care about you. They alone make the office a warm place. Regarding Dr.Truong; in summary, he's the best dentist I've yet had. Professional, funny and gentle. The kind of guy you'd like to be your friend as well as dentist. My dentist at Harvard was not quite good as Kevin, and that dentist trained at Harvard. Though my blood runs crimson it clearly is not all about the name. Can't say enough great things other than - Highly recommended! Oh, and one more thing, when you go take him a Cliff Bar or a granola, and tell him I said to lay off the Fiber One! LOL.. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Truong for over 3 years and have been very happy with the care and attentiveness I receive from him and his staff. Last month, I received a deep cleaning, which is a bit more involved than your regular cleaning. A regular cleaning is like getting the oil changed on your car and a deep cleaning is like 30/60/90K maintenance. You dread when the odometer reaches those numbers but you'll feel so relieved when its done and over with. I highly recommend Dr. Troung and his staff. He does a great job of explaining the procedures he performs, which makes me feel more knowledgeable and thus comfortable. My gums became less inflamed and less puffy after my latest visit. And my teeth look a shade lighter and without the bleach! read more

It was the worst experience with a doctor i ever had. I surprized how a doctor can be so UNPROFFESSIONAL and ILL-BRED. I made appointment with Dr Truong after i had read all good reviews about him on yelp that he is professional and nice. My appointment was in the morning at 9 so i had to wake up early and drive in traffic. His office is in very small buliding somewhere in Culver City. I never been to such a small doctor"s office building without the actual parking lot. In the back of the building i found some parking spaces assigned to each doctor who works there so i thought its for patients. I arrived 20 min early but office opens at 9 same as my appointment was scheduled so i was waiting in my car. Suddenly i realized a man was standing right by my car and looking at me. I recognized Dr Truong cause i saw his pictures online. I opened the door. Without asking me what am i doing there or even greeting he just said in a harsh way "it's my parking space" and looked at me very agressive. I exuse myself and told him that i just got confused that i can park there cause i made appointment with him. He kept on saying " it"s for me, it's my space".I asked him where can i park. On what he said " i don"t know" and left quickly. I was so shocked and at the beginning couldn't understand what just happened. Of course i left. I don"t want to deal with such an AGRESSIVE DOCTOR who obviously hates his job. P.S. Nobody didn't call me from his office to ask why i didn"t show up to appointment, though the day before they'd called to confirm. I guess that's nothing he could tell me. Based on my experience, it seems to me that Dr. Truong cares more about up-selling and making money off his patients than cleaning teeth. It started with the assistant insisting that I take X-Rays (even though I took them less than a year ago) and said that if I did not, Dr. Truong would not see me (I was there just for a routine teeth cleaning). The X-Rays meant extra money to bill my insurance for, so they clearly wanted that money. Then Dr. Truong came in and looked at my X-Ray and said that I needed a deep rooting/gum cleaning over my entire mouth. Total cost? About $400. He said he would not clean at all below the gum-line. EVERY dentist who I've ever been to, cleaned slightly below the gum line. When I asked him whether it was something I needed, he reacted very defensively. Again, suggesting to me (in my opinion) that it was about the money as opposed to having a good bed-side manner and helping out. Once I decided I was not going to go with this expensive procedure (cost to me of $100 -- cost to insurance company of about $400 if I remember correctly), his tone just changed. He spent what seemed like around just 10 minutes cleaning my teeth and I didn't feel like he was doing a thorough job at all. There was maybe one other person in there from what I can tell, another bad sign in my impression that business is not great and that they are looking to maximize their revenue and up-sell. I definitely would NOT be back , as I feel like being able to trust that someone is looking out for my interest (as opposed to upselling) is the number 1 priority of any dentist or doctor I go to. read more

Dr. Truong is plainly AWESOME. First off, he is extremely thorough in his cleaning. Unlike other dentists who ask their "nurse" or "hygienist" to do the cleaning, Dr. Truong does it himself. Also, he is very OCD about the cleaning - I mean gets into the nooks and crannies! =). Secondly, his consultations are honest and very much patient-centric; it's very balanced and measured. It's not about the latest gadget or technology, it's about what you as a patient needs and wants. For example, he asked me if I wanted to an amalgam filling vs. a resin filling for one of my molars - I choose the amalgam despite the appearance b/c I felt more confident and safe with it (esp since it's a molar). Another time, he asked about whether I wanted a mouth guard (I grind my teeth); he recommended it for various reasons but it was ultimately my decision (he even ran all the insurance so that I knew what the exact out of pocket price would be). Lastly, I really appreciate his "chair side" manners. He remembers details from our last conversation and follows up; I feel that his chats make me feel comfortable. These 5 star reviews are DEAD ON. I really hate going to the dentist. Really. So much that I avoid it and only go once every few years. I decided to see one before I graduate from UCLA and lose my insurance, so I needed to find someone quick. Went with the YELP reviews and made an appointment with Dr. Truong, and they got me in within a week. Here are some of the highlights: First, I was 25 minutes late to the appointment; I had gotten lost and had forgotten my phone so I couldn't even call to let them know I was running late. By the time I came in to the office, I was crying because I thought 1) I would be berated for being late and/or 2) they wouldn't see me and still charge me for a missed appointment. However, the receptionist was so kind and acted like it was absolutely no big deal at all. She encouraged me to take my time filling out the paperwork and gave me tissues to wipe my tears. I was expecting to have to wait after being so off schedule but they saw me almost right away. Second, I went into the x-ray room and the technician did not make me gag by shoving the equipment into my mouth (that usually happens to me). Third, Dr. Truong did the actual cleaning. I have never had a dentist spend so much one-on-one time with me. He cleaned my teeth really well, but did not hurt me or make my gums bleed. He had a hygienist in the room with him, but she mostly was there to suction my mouth. Top notch care! Also, I had to have a cavity filled, and I felt about as relaxed as possible. Fourth, the office was simply decorated and comfortable and there was nice music playing. Also, great magazines to look at. And I'll just say that Dr. Truong is pretty good looking too, and he really knows how to give a good handshake (okay, these last few were just nice extras; I really wouldn't rate a dentist on his looks, I just thought I'd mention it). My dental insurance covered the x-rays, exam, cleaning, and part of the filling. Altogether I owed $80 for my portion of the filling, and they gave me a bill right there that gave a breakdown of the charges and what my insurance covered. The only warning would be the location because I got kind of lost after getting off the 10, and the parking isn't great (I was able to park for free on the street but it was the only parking spot for a long time). So give yourself plenty of time to get there if you are driving and not familiar with the area. Altogether a really good experience. I would really recommend Dr. Truong if you live in West LA or the vicinity. read more

I hate to see reviews on Yelp like Henry C's. So he talked to you while working and charged you $125 for a complete cleaning in Beverly Hills? That is one star worthy? If you don't like him that's fine, but I don't see how you could rate him a 1 star DDS Does anyone stop to think the man is trying to make a living and probably went to school half his adult life while spending the other half trying to build his own thing in this world? I've went here for about 6 years and I appreciate the advice and guidance he has given me throughout our relationship. As for his banter, Half the time he asks me a question I can't even answer because he has his hands in my mouth, but who really cares? I find myself telling him some personal things about myself because I have always felt comfortable in his care. *Scroll to the end for the Cliff Notes version I'm definitely one of those people who doesn't write reviews often. This might possibly be my second one, but my experience here compelled me to write one. Keep in mind that this review is being written by a girl who is deathly afraid of doctors and dentists alike, and cries at the prospect of injections/needles. I refuse to see any other doctor other than my dad and any other dentist than my uncle. But seeing as how I'm from San Francisco and my wisdom tooth pain was becoming unbearable... I had to find a dentist in my area. I came across Dr. Truong on yelp and all the reviews were really great so I decided to give it a try-- all of the reviews are 100% spot on. From the moment I called the receptionist was so friendly, and a big thing that I appreciated was that she immediately asked if this last minute visit was related to pain. Having experience in the medical field, to address a patient's pain immediately is something I consider to be highly important, and whether it is standard for her to ask that or not, it definitely did not go unnoticed/unappreciated. When I got there, the receptionist and the dental assistant were both so friendly and quick to answer any questions that I had. The dental assistant appropriately explained everything she was going to do before she did it and warned me of any discomfort I might feel. Having told her that I am deathly afraid of dentists, this was very comforting and, again, very much appreciated. Acknowledging how scared, anxious, nervous (all of the above!) I was... his receptionist informed me that I could get anxiety meds, but would have to come back to do the procedure on a different day. I decided to suck it up and try to be a big girl (I'm 21 years old), and I didn't go for that option but I thought it was nice of her to provide that information. Dr. Truong himself is also very nice. Not much of a talker, but enough to make it apparent that he knows what he's doing. From the moment he told me he would be able to extract my tooth during the visit, tears did not stop pouring out of my eyes until I left (embarassing, yes, but truth.. especially because I had no one there with me and I am a big baby). His dental assistant quickly got me a box of tissues, and they both gave me time to get myself together before rushing me into another room for the procedure. He explained everything he was going to do before he did it, was very gentle during the procedure, and was very perceptive to my anxiety. In terms of the other little things... - Location: Mostly surrounded by residential but it's kind of on a main road. Very easy to find, so that was a plus that I didn't stress out looking for the place - Parking: street parking. There are metered spaces but there's a lot of residential parking (I'm not sure if it's residential parking permit only, though) - Waiting room: spacious. Good amount of couch space since its a waiting room for Dr. Truong and for a chiropractor. Good lighting, lots of magazine choices. - Patient rooms: well decorated, well lit. Colorful-- overall pleasing and calming to the eyes! All in all, when I feel like people do everything in their scope to address my feelings, I make it known how appreciative I am... and this was the best way I could do so. This was an amazing experience (as amazing as a trip to the dentist can be, at least), and I am glad that I picked Dr. Truong's dental office. I guess yelp reviews really are helpful! Wanted to see what all the fuss was about and give this place a call, unfortunate that the front desk receptionist who answers the phone gave a horrible first impression right at the start of the day at 9am. She had attitude answering my very first question - seemed like she didn't want to answer or clarify for me. I'm sure the dentist himself is amazing and sucks to be thrown off right from the get-go due to the receptionist's poor customer service skills. Although Dr. Troung is a thorough dentist, I fell that his skill is outweighed by his deceptive billing practices. Over the phone, I was not quoted a price, but since his office is close to where I live, I made an appointment. In the office, I was quoted $4 for the appointment and $5 for Xrays(They don't tell you that they are $5 each), but no price for the cleaning which is what I came in for. After the Xrays, we went to the room where they do the work. Just before the cleaning, I was presented with a charge of $399 - $85 for cleaning per quadrant and $55 for 11 Xrays. Although it is true that I could have left at any time, once you a prepped and and sitting in the chair, it is very difficult. I feel that $400 for a cleaning is outrageous and the way it is done is very deceptive!! read more

Dr. Truong truly cares about his practice, his professionalism, and most of all, his patients. it is obvious he respects and treats his staff well too. he's always looking for ways to improve his service -- the overhaul he's done on the facilities is impressive. remember, i know what this place was like before him, and the difference is more than just cosmetic. he's put in computerized records, has invested in interactive programs to help patients understand procedures & make informed choices, and even got new chairs that i swear are comfier. yes, you CAN be comfortable at the dentist. even though he's obviously spending money to make the patient experience better, he's not passing on the costs to us because i have seen no difference what i pay -- and because for awhile i had no dental insurance, i know what prices can be. inherited him. there's never a long wait to see him, and he'll even rearrange his schedule to accommodate emergencies. when my mother-in-law who was visiting from Europe broke a tooth, he told us to come in over his lunchtime so he could treat her right away. he listens, answers all questions in an easy-to-understand manner, and is meticulous doing cleanings. he's honest, doesn't try to upsell you on treatments, and always keeps a positive manner when pointing out potential trouble spots in my mouth (i.e. "let's try to prevent decay in this area" NOT "well you're probably going to get a cavity there anyway, so we'll keep an eye on it"). parking is on the street, but it's not hard to find a spot in the surrounding neighbourhood. go to Dr. Truong! you will not regret it! read more

Just had my first visit yesterday, but so far a 5-out-of-5! Hooray!!

Only thing I didn't like was the parking. But besides that I loved this place. Receptionist was nice. There was no wait. I was probably in the lobby for maybe 5 minutes while they checked out my paperwork (You can get all the forms you need to submit on their website so you can fill it out prior to coming in) Sat in the chair, got my xrays, sat in another room, Dr. has his ipod on shuffle, had some good EDM on it, DOCTOR DOES THE CLEANINGS HIMSELF, he doesn't talk much (which I truely liked, come on I'm at the dentist I don't like talking with things in my mouth). Very young looking guy (Dr Truong) scrape and polish and BOOM done. I wasn't even there a full 30 minutes. I actually do like going to dentist, because of how my teeth feel afterwards. I would highly recommend this place if you live out in this area. read more

I am a physician so I know what it takes to make patients happy while delivering great care. Dr. Truong has all of those elements. He will thoroughly explain to you what he is thinking, and provide you with all of the information you need to make an autonomous decision. He provides his insight but ultimately gives you the freedom to decide the course of treatment without any added pressure. I have dealt with a lot of dentists who seem oriented to only provide care that is in their financial best interest. This is NOT the case with Dr. Truong. I highly recommend him! read more
