Ok this is for the A&W part of the restaurant. If I was reviewing on the root beer alone it would be 5 stars. And usually when I go, it's a little slow but my order is correct and seems to be made (from what I can tell) from fresher ingredients than, say, Carl's Jr. or something. This time I went I ordered a rootbeer float, which they overfilled with rootbeer so it was leaking out the lid and spilling on the cup holders in my car. I also ordered fries, a cheeseburger, and two orders of the mini corn dogs. (One for me, one for my roommate). I paid for everything and was told to pull over and wait for the burger- no biggie. I took that as they were still cooking it. Pulled over, waited about ten minutes, got the food and drove home. Then, I got out the corn dogs except that they only gave me one (even though I paid for 2). Ok fine. They weren't too pricey, so I shrugged it off and gave my roommate hers. Then, I opened the burger to find a bun that was squashed and dark brown- it had been burnt. I scraped the burnt part off and tried to eat it but the meat tasted old and there were only onions on it though I ordered it with no onions or lettuce but I wanted to keep to tomatoes. It's like they made a burger for someone else, then that person changed their mind so they waited for 20 mins and gave it to me. Not cool. read more

By far the WORST fast food I've ever had. Just threw 3 meals in the trash! Food was so old, cold, and chewy. Everything was inedible. We were traveling or I would've taken it back fora refund. Even if you are starving and desperate for food, do NOT stop here. Yuck!!! read more

Worst KFC we have ever been in. Ordered original chicken at 7:00pm last Sat. Oh we don't have any cooked yet. It will be 20 minutes. No way, looked around it was a dirty place anyway. My husband got off work early (3:30 pm) yesterday & decided to surprise me with take out. Stopped at KFC & was told there was no chicken at that time & would have to wait a half an hour for them to cook it up. He decided not to wait & ordered 2 burgers & 2 fries. Got home to discover only one order of fries & the worst burgers we have EVER had. I'll just call them REALLY nasty MUSTARD burgers.Yeah, we know they aren't known for their burgers, but, they were just terrible & inedible :/ I was "surprised" alright....surprised that the availability & quality of food here has gone down so far since the last time we stopped in. I wish zero stars were an option. KFC used to be good. I went through the drive thru and had a pretty simple order. They said they were out of the regular chicken breast and only had extra crispy. I asked how long until they had the regular the girl working (vero it said on the receipt) said it would be done in 4 minutes. I told them I would wait and they asked me to park. 25 minutes later of being parked I called the store and they said "what order, oh ya we will have it out in a bit". I waited 5 more minutes and finally drove back through. They gave me the bag and when I got back to work it was missing half of the order. I was so short for time rushing back to work I didn't even check the bag. Then I called to tell them of the missing stuff and they said "uhh we cant refund you" I told them I shouldn't have to pay for food I don't have. Then they finally said they only do cash refunds. I will have to go to pick up the money. I would not recommend this location. read more

I have worked on KFCs all over CA for many years: hundreds of them. This is one of the worst I have seen. Walking inside, you'll often be greeted with an overpowering odor of sewage and rotting chicken fluids. The staff is (typically) disinterested and apathetic. The sanitation is poor: downright scary. Although I've seen KFC up its game in the last few years, this site has remained consistently deplorable for most of the last 2 decades. Even contacting the national hotline has yielded nothing. I would recommend going elsewhere. If you read the other reviews, you'll see that most customers have less than satisfying experiences at this location. These reviewers have only seen it from the front side of the counter, and their observations are accurate. That's only half of the story. I've been behind the counter, folks. It ain't pretty. Came here again tonight because I really wanted chicken and this is the only KFC in Paso Robles. Like always I regretted it instantly. They took my order which I ordered extra biscuits, after I've paid and waited 15 minutes for my food they tell me that there are no biscuits and it would be 10 minutes before they are done. Every time I come here they are missing something. Last time it was chicken strips, time before was the root beer for the root beer float, and this time biscuits. Whoever owns this franchise should be appalled at the level of service this dump provides. I will not be returning again!! read more

Always loved KFC but if We have to get it in Paso Robles, we won't be eating it. Been trying for years to enjoy the experience there but finally are giving up. Without exaggeration, we have yet to get our order correct... when brought to the managers attention this last time basically told us oh well there's one down the road. I can assure you we were neither rude or demanding just pointing out an obvious mistake. We decided to not accept the order and left. They made soldiers, buying an entire shift of people food, drive around in circles through the drive thru to place multiple orders. They said it was a store policy. There was no fucking line. That means the manager is an idiot as well as the staff. I could care less whose policy it is. Let's all remember just how many fast food places have closed up and left Paso Robles. Stopped here during a road trip last week when we needed something quick...convenience kills. Went through the drive-thru. In total, got two A&W combos, both with different kinds of burgers, each with fries, and a drink. At the window, asked for ranch and the KFC whatever sauce...girl said no problem. Was then asked to pull over and wait for the food, which was strange as there was literally no one else in line at the drive thru. Eventually got the food, looked inside the bag. No sauces and no napkins...sigh...walked inside the store and asked for everything. No "sorry" or "oops here's some extra" or "we are idiots here so..." or...anything, really. Left and continued our drive. My burger was ok...not much flavor but could have been worse. The other burger was somehow worse than mine. Fries were barely seasoned and had no taste while looking and feeling floppy and soggy. The root beer was good but you almost can't screw that up, though I'm sure the people at this store could have. I think what we were most mad about was that this crap meal was incredibly small, and still managed to cost over 15 bucks. If you get fast food, first off, shame on you. Second, 15 bucks is supposed to get you an ass-ton of food! I was literally done with my burger and fries within 4 minutes and my fiancee didn't even want to finish hers despite how hungry she was. I have gone to this KFC four times. Three out of the four times they are out of the pot pies and I have to wait 20 minutes for them to make more. Today I ordered 6 and the guy told me I had to wait an hour. He told me to call ahead if I want 6 pies. REALLY!!!!!I live 20 miles away and why should I call and order ahead. He obviously didn't want to work. Don't think I will ever go back. Terrible customer service. I guess the company doesn't care because this place has terrible reviews. This KFC needs an adult to come in and whip these young kids into shape. The days of good customer service are gone!!!!!!!! This place is a prime example of that. The chicken wings did not seem freshly made and the fries were soggy with no salt when we specifically said extra salt. & the worst part They were out of root beer!!!!! If I could give a negative one star, I would. I got the chicken strips last night with fries and cole slaw. The cole slaw was the only edible thing I had. If we had eaten there, I would have taken it back. The fries were cold and so greasy they were a clump. The chicken strips should have been dumped a few hours prior. Aside from being cold, they were dry and so tough I could barely chew the one I did try to eat. Will certainly not be back to this one. No wonder it was almost empty. read more

We recently decided to stop on our way to Pismo Beach through Paso Robles. We were happy to find a KFC/A&W to pick up a quick lunch to take to the beach for a picnic. Unfortunately, our mood quickly changed when we entered the restaurant. The register staff seemed annoyed at having to serve customers. We were unfamiliar with this restaurant combo so we took a minute to figure out our order before walking up to the counter. There were no other customers in line, but the cashier was apparently soo annoyed that she had to walk away. A younger cashier came back to take our order. She was more welcoming but a bit too shocked to see someone like my husband. He's not that different looking...just s green eyed Hispanic man with a lot of tattoos on his arms. He tried to give her his order several times, but she couldn't focus. Her jaw was actually dropped!! I finally took over and we were able to place the rest of our order. The food order was correct and the service from the kitchen was quick. The fries were dry and flavorless, but everything else was good. The customer service up front needs some training. A lot of people pass through this small town on their way to Southern California. We were respectful and courteous even though we didn't necessarily feel the staff treated us the same. We likely won't return, but hope the staff gets some support and training from their managers on how to interact with customers. read more

When attempting to speak with a Manager there was no help there either, just 15 minutes of my life I will never get back. No apology, act like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. Evidently haven't realized no customer service, no customers, no business. If you are in a hurry or want somebody to care if your order is right, go somewhere else. This past weekend my husband and I stopped in to pick up a snack to take back to our hotel room. It was not busy in fact no other customers were present. The two employees were very friendly and seemed to be proud of their product by giving me tips on "whats good". I ordered two $5 fill ups extra crispy. and arrived back at our hotel room a few minutes later to a very disappointing snack. The chicken was overcooked and greasy. Trying to make the best of it I peeled back the thick, hard, bark like skin to discover that there was no chicken, only bones. Maybe earlier in the day some chicken had been present but not tonight. It appeared to have been cooked away. I put the skin and bones aside and decided I would just eat the mashed potatoes and gravy. Horrible. The potatoes tasted like one day away from rancid. My husband and I ended up eating the cookie which actually wasn't bad. I would not recommend this KFC. It is not up to standard. Someone needs some serious cooking lessons at this location. read more
