Location: East Bay (Dublin/Castro Valley/Pleasanton area) Mike was able to diagnose the persistent heating issue with my fairly new Kitchen Aid double wall oven. I had several batches of baked goods and savory foods not fully cooked/baked correctly despite following the recipes properly. I got the thermometers for both ovens to check the temp in each oven cavity. The temps were 40 to 50 degrees off compared to the setting. I had 4 prior appliance technicians troubleshooting my ovens without any real solution or explanation. Mike tested my ovens and explained the reasons for the temp deviations that affect many brands, not just Kitchen Aid brand. I was advised to use the convection feature of the ovens for even heating/higher in temperature and I will need to preheat the oven longer to reach close to the preset temp. He also made me aware that the oven temp variation could be between 5% to 10% off from the preset temp in the control panel. This is considered normal for today's ovens regardless of brands. We didn't replace any parts. I greatly appreciated his expertise diagnosing the problem and logical explanations. I would highly recommend his services to anyone. If you are looking for an honest, no-nonsense repairman, then look no further-- Mike at Kh Appliance is your man. After spending four hours on an entire Saturday trying to fix our 10 yr old washing machine, we finally gave in and decided to get a professional. We emailed Mike on a Sunday night and receive a prompt response the next day, eventually arranging for him to come out on Wednesday. Mike made the process super easy, disclosed the upfront $75 service charge. As requested, Mike called me 20 minutes prior to arrival. When he came, he promptly asked to describe the problem, inquired and looked at what we replaced, then 'played' around with the agitator. Within less than two minutes, he diagnosed the problem. He patiently explained his diagnosis and was extremely patient as I asked him many questions. Unfortunately, although he could fix the problem, Mike recommended that we get a new machine since it wasn't worth the labor and cost for parts. In any case, Mike made the entire process a very easy one. My only regret was that I spent too much time trying to fix the problem and didn't call Mike first. I won't let that happen again. Our 9 year old Maytag Bravos XL washer developed a leak at one of the inlet valves. We contacted Mike to schedule an appointment. We found him to be prompt and professional, finding the problem quickly. Mike took the time to explain the issue and the best solution for a repair or alternatively, due to the age of the washer, why a new washer could be a better choice. He even pointed out other things in the laundry room that we should consider correcting. We decided to repair the washer; Mike ordered the part, we scheduled the appointment, and Mike repaired the machine quickly. He even tested the washer through several cycles to ensure there were no leaks and everything functioned as it should. Yelp reviews give Mike a "4.5 star" rating - very good but I agree with other reviewers that Mike is a "5 star" kind of guy. Our refrigerator was broken. Looked like a serious issue, we were convinced that we had to get a new refrigerator, as refrigerator repair would probably not help us in this case. Called KH Appliance, scheduled a time, Mike came over, and thats when the bad news started to quickly turn to good news. The good news #1 a simple part that Mike had on him was all that was needed to fix our fridge, without getting a new one. Our old dryer recently got screechy, so I've been looking around for someone who could fix it. I played phone tag with a couple of guys for a while and didn't get anywhere. Our refrigerator stopped working (cooling) last weekend. These guys are honest and competent. You need not look for others. My washer went kaput. They came out and diagnosed that the washer was filled with debris and could not drain itself. Because of it the washer kept having an error message and would not run. The debris were removed and the washer is working like a charm.
