I believe it's a family owned business and the daughter was the one who helped me. She was very sweet and I asked her for a suggestion on the appetizers. I came in close to closing time and the owner and her children welcomed me in with such warmth, it honestly felt like I was joining their family dinner table. The ambience is cozy and inviting, with a relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger and enjoy your meal. The chicken Penang curry was incredible, rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, with just the right balance of spice and sweetness. The chicken satay was perfectly grilled, tender, and paired with a peanut sauce that took it over the top. Happened to be in the area after dropping off our cans and bottles at NorCal Recycling. Super friendly employee (probably the owner?) was fun to talk to. We ordered Tofu Pad See Ew and the Chicken Garlic. Just thinking about the Pad See Ew makes my mouth water. Great food. Prices were average, maybe slightly higher? My Pad See Ew was $16.95. We went there for a really late lunch and ordered take out and eat at the car. The ambience is nice. The service is really good. The lady cook and the lady receptionist are both very nice. The food is prepared fresh and was very fast. The taste was not as good as I hoped for. While the food is hot and fresh and large portion, there is very little protein in the order. Hubby was told about Khun Suda and we were excited to try them finally. As an app ordered the fried tofu. I asked the waitress who was very nice and accommodating throughout our meal, if the tofu was seasoned and fried (as has been my experience with other Thai restaurants), and she replied yes. Tofu was described as being served with peanuts. The dish was not seasoned at all, it was literally tofu flash fried and served with a sweet, vinegar type sauce. The sauce was delicious, tofu was unpalatable. Husband ordered the seafood salad that was on special, I ordered the basil plate and we shared the Bangkok fried rice. Hubby's salad had fresh seafood but was bland which could have been intentional, the salad dressing was lovely. The basil plate was delicious! The rice however was the star of the night. I knew we were in for a treat because we heard near every person order the Bangkok rice. If did not disappoint and I could eat it daily. The pad thai, which showed up as the top order in Uber Eats, didn't have bean sprouts, didn't have peanuts, and came served in a gloppy sweet and sour sauce. 0/5. The massaman curry was also very sweet. 2.5/5. Drunken noodles and pad see ew were both okay, 3/5. The "appetizer special" - disappointing instead. This review is specifically for the quality and taste. The appetizer special comes with satay, fried wontons, fried tofu, and spring rolls. Satay is not the traditional chicken curry satay that is grilled/pan fried. This looked to be deep fried instead and seasoning is not tasteful with curry flavor. Looks different from a usual chicken satay. Fried wontons, deep fried and burnt. Filling was okay but looked like they were previously frozen and could've been fried better. Edges were burnt instead of crispy/enjoyable to eat. Spring rolls, wrapped not tight or fried so long that they were falling apart. Bland filling, super basic mix of noodle/cabbage and egg (standard filling) however, lacking seasoning. Fried tofu, super cut sized small pieces and deep fried that the edges were more fried batter than the tofu. Other miscellaneous items included: peanut sauce/ spring roll fish sauce and cucumber (did not taste fresh or cold). I dislike leaving a bad review but I am disappointed in this appetizer special. I think when customers order this, it usually is exciting and tasteful getting to try an assortment of items. Unfortunately, I don't think I liked any of the offerings in the appetizer special. We ordered coconut ginger soup for the table nice presentation but super sweet.. way to sweet. Came here after a stint in the shopping mall with my fiancé. Was $38 for two dishes, small rice and the 10% yelp discount. They veggies seamed fresh which was good, and the curries were made there. Solid beer and wine selection. The food was good, but just expensive. You're looking at $14-17 a dish. Not gonna break the bank, but thought I could get better food for this price. Khun Suda Thai Cuisine is a small mom and pop restaurant, tucked away in the back of one of the many shopping centers that line Douglas Blvd., which happens to be the busiest street in Roseville, CA. Khun Suda is open every day of the week, serving all of your Thai favorites... As you enter the restaurant you'll be greeted by Thai decor, and a "Just a Moment Please" sign, and a bell to "ding" if the hostess is busy in the kitchen. The dining room is very spacious, open, clean and attractive. It's lightly decoreated with Thai decor, but the "mood" isn't overdone. Furniture is all tables, and the dining room is brightly lit from natural lighting, thanks to the many windows. Unlike nearly every other Thai restaurant that I've enjoyed, I didn't see a picture of the King of Thailand hanging on the wall. Another oddity was the music softly playing the background happened to be instrumental versions of classic American standards, from the 1950's to the 1970's. Than's not exactly what you'd expect to hear in a Thai restaurant! The focus of the dining room is the counter, which displays the selection of beer and wine the restaurant offers. There are several large tables that can seat eight or more guests. On this late Saturday moring, I had the dining room to myself, as most of the business was take-out orders. The first page of the menu lists curries, noodles, fried rice and grilled meat dishes. You have to read to menu carefully, or ask your server what each selection includes, as the menu listings are a ittle on the vague side. For example, my lunch didn't include rice, as I ordered it as an "add on" to enhance my fine meal. Stir Fry and Chef's "Sugestions" are featured on the second page of the menu. Honestly, every selection on the menu looked amazing to me. Since today was my first visit to Khun Suda Thai Cuisine, I started at the "top" of the menu and ordered "Yellow Curry," which seemed like a great place to start. From the "Curries" section of the menu, I went with "Yellow Curry," which topped off the curry section, and sounded delicious. The menu describes the dish simply as, "Yellow Curry, coconut milk, onion, potatoes and carrots." The menu is a little misleading, as all curry dishes start at $13.95, and that's basically for a dish of chicken or tofu with the dish of curry. Shrimp or beef is an option, and I LOVE shrimp, so I added shrimp for $1.00 along with a side of Jasmin rice for $2.50, which brought the price of my lunch up to $17.45, before state sales tax was added. Good thing that I didn't order a beer to go with my lunch! The main course was served in an odd-shaped bowl, with blue stripes, which enhanced the stunning presentation. The base of the lunch was a thick, savory, moderately sweet yellow curry which was simply UNBELIEVABLE it was so good! You could definitely taste the curry, but it wasn't overpowring, and simply delicious. The broth was based on coconut milk, which made a smooth, moderately sweet foundation for this amazing base. Thin onion and carrot slices graced the dish, along with cubed potatoes. Thai spice was added to enhance the flavor, and like the curry, it was not overpowering and made the wonderful lunch even better. All ingredients worked together to make for a taste sensation. The added shrimp were sauteed in I assume coconut milk, and were juicy, flavorful and tender. The shrimp were amazing, and simply made this dish unbelieveably delicious! The Jasmin rice came on a separate plate, and was simply a generous heap of plain, steamed Jasmin rice. Jasmine rice stands head and shoulders above plain rice, and this Jasmine rice was steamed to perfection. I dipped some of the rice into the yellow curry for extra enjoyment. Such a delicious lunch! At $17.45 before tax, this lunch didn't come cheap, but you can't always measure a great lunch by how much you pay for it. When you factor in the quality of the ingredients, the delicious taste, the presentation, along with the "wow factor," maybe $17.45 isn't quite as high as it seemed. Well... maybe... Khun Suda Thai Cuisine is noted among Roseville locals for delicious Thai cuisine, and during my visit, I wasn't disappointed, as this fine restaurant lived up to it's reputation. My lunch arrived in a timely manner, the ingredients were fresh, it was perfectly cooked, and was simply delicious. My server, Mook, provided friendly, efficient and very professional service. Tom Yum soup was missing lime leaf, lemon grass, tomato and again other key flavors... shrimp tasted like dirt. They came in a standard takeout container that was jam packed. There were some fresh, julienned carrots on the top. There were some broccoli and other veggies mixed in. I ordered the beef. It was good. Not the best I've had but not chewy and yucky. But the all important thing is the flavor. And hands-down it is definitely one of the better Drunken Noodles that I've had.
