It became our go to place when we crave sushi rolls. First of all the service is amazing. They are so nice and thoughtful, very kid friendly where they tried to give the best environment for our daughter and also had character stickers to give out at the end of the meal! Food is also decent with nice plating and deco. Our favorite is Isabella roll and Danville roll. And their Tempura Udon is nice too- our daughter's favorite. We will visit again soon! read more

Service was great and the food was fantastic. I tried to alter the Kibo roll and add something to it but should have left it as intended by the chef. It was still delicious. We also had the salmon beet carpaccio which was different in a good way. The salmon was a beautiful pink color. The chicken teriyaki was also above average. My favorite was surprisingly the mixed tempura. This was seasoned appropriately and had different veggies than the norm. It was excellent. read more

We went based on a friends recommendation and we are glad we did! Excellent , friendly service and large fantastic rolls! Their were 5 of us and we all ordered something different. Everything was tasty and fresh including the famed "I don't know roll" which turns out to be the chef's surprise. He came over to the table and shared with us that he tries to make everyone different so you "don't know" what your going to get, but believe me, you will like it! Also noticed that they had a good Saki and wine list, but we didn't try it because of it being a Sunday night. read more

Fantastic fresh fish with generous portion sizes. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the sashimi special for $30 along with a seaweed salad and it was more than enough for two. The tea was delicious too! My family and I have been going to Kibo since it opened and it never disappoints. The chef / owner is always coming up with the best "I don't know" rolls for my dad and brother - always something delicious / creative / never the same roll twice. As for myself, the salmon and the poke are always exceptional. With COVID we were afraid that the quality of the meals to-go would disappoint, but we were pleased to find that the take out was just as delicious. They are doing outdoor seating now as well, but we continue to choose to take out and it's our favorite go-to spot. We look forward to dining inside with the friendly staff once things go back to "normal". In the meantime, order from Kibo - they're the best! read more

Crispy gyoza had the perfect crunch. When I asked what to recommend I got one that was best described as a lion king. I also added "spicy" to it, and it was melt in your mouth good. Very friendly place. Picked up food here last night because of the no eat in rule that is going on because of the coronavirus. When picking up the food the guy there was wearing a mask and brought the food out so I could pay. He also offered me hand sanitizer before leaving. He was very friendly and very cheerful even with all the craziness going on. He thanked me 3 times for the order. I believe in supporting local business's especially at times like this. Got the food home to the family and everything was great. We ordered chicken katsu, Kibo roll, Danville roll and Tempura, and Chirashi. All were really good. The best part was the little extras they give you the tsukemono (pickled radishes) they give you with each order. It was my first time there and would definitely go back and order again. read more

Not getting the 5 star reviews. I found this place overpriced and underwhelming not to mention the waitress was unfriendly. There was a heavy fried food odor that permeated the restaurant, which I hate because I now have to take my coat to the dry cleaners to remove the stench. Fake sushi restaurants are a dime a dozen. This review is for the soft opening today. We happened to see the sign here for the soft opening on our way the other day to Lotus Thai two doors down. Everything was fresh and well presented. We ordered a California Roll, Halibut Nigiri, and Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi served with shredded radish. They also served us a complimentary edamame and Hamachi. We especially liked the buttery texture of the scallops. I liked that some of the sashimi came with lemon slices as I do prefer this on some fish. The friendly owner came by and talked with us, maybe because we had questions about the fish or just because he had a minute. Having worked in other prominent sushi restaurants, he seems to have a solid vision for the space and has spent several months getting it ready. Everything did seem very organized and well thought out. Most of their seafood is shipped from Japan. It's a bit difficult to figure out which of these are sustainable options (looking at the Monterey Seafood Watch site/app). Our server was quick to find out for us which items were sustainable and where they came from. She was super patient with all our queries. Kibo is my new favorite sushi place in Danville. The fish is fresh and melts in your mouth. I love the chirashi and nigiri here. The scallop nigiri is out of this workd. The "I don't know" is a great option as well. Their chef is creative and never lets us down when we go. Very disappointed in this restaurant. Arrived at 11:30AM and ordered a sashimi appetizer, lunch combination of California Roll and Chicken Katsu. The sashimi appetizer was horrible. Had a fishy taste and the color looked as if it has been out for more than a day. There was a weird taste in the crab in the California Roll. They do provide big portion. The middle 1/3 was under cooked imo, but i eat it all. i was told by a friend that the fish is all sushi grade (not confirmed) and that in higher end restaurants they cook fish to medium and possibly I am not use to that type of texture. i have souve salmon before and cooked to temp and have had it super soft. +.5 to rating sushi rolls 3/5 - not bad, but nothing amazing. miso soup 4/5 - full of flavor! so full! read more

Sorry, we had been by earlier in the Summer and thought this was one of the best sushi spots going. Wow, what has happened. Seems the menu has changed, as has the sushi chef. I generally don't 'hit' a small business, however it seems that my food experience was so bad. The yellow tail roll was 'bits' and didn't have any taste. The crab roll tasted like bad tuna fish, heavy on the mayo. On the good side, everyone was friendly and attentive. Service was good and the place is clean. We went on a sunday late evening and had the place to ourselves. The sushi was fine. Nothing amazing but not bad. It just isn't any different than what you'll find elsewhere in Danville. What is different is the price. They charge about the same as anywhere else in the area but you get about 30% less. I also don't like that the menu says crab roll but its actually a 50/50 mix of real and imitation. It's fine if you're going to do that but say it on the menu. My husband got the salmon terrikayi but kept the sauce off and that was really good. Id come back here for a bowl of miso and nice grilled piece of salmon but id prob pass on the sushi. read more

This is a review of their service, not food, as we never got served. Tonight we decided to try out Kibo because we live nearby and heard good things. After getting seated at around 6:30pm, we waited 15 minutes and didn't even get acknowledged, so we left. We spent 5 minutes looking at the menu, 5 minutes trying to get the the waitress' attention to no avail, and 5 minutes getting more and more pissed off until we decided to go to another restaurant. Not sure if they were short-staffed, but it was ridiculous. read more

Then we ordered some seaweed salad which was subpar but nothing will compare to the $15 rainbow roll we ordered that was nice and lukewarm.
