We have been buying take out sushi from KIbo since it opened, but this is the first time we tried it during the Covid pandemic. The menu has been pared down a good deal. We used our Dashpass for Doordash and used the menu on their site. We ordered Rainbow, Dragon,Spider and fried California rolls. All were really good, with the fried California roll being exceptional. The only Japanese member of our group does not like fish(!) and ordered the lunch set A, California roll, chicken teriyaki and tempura. Looked good so I ordered one also. They included rice, soup and salad. For $13 a really good value. The one person who will not eat raw fish was sad the Lion King roll is not on the menu, but she had California rolls and teriyaki chicken to share. The food was exceptional! They included nice quality chopsticks and napkins without asking. A really happy experience. read more

Terrible service and mediocre sushi. I feel deceived by the high ratings. The sushi here is overpriced and contains mostly rice. We got the butterfly roll ($17! And mostly mayo), spider roll, and shrimp tempura roll. All were relatively small, we didn't feel full even with all that rice. We also got a "special" bluefin tuna which was advertised as $10 but appeared as $11 on the bill. It did not taste fresh. I wouldn't have complained about the incorrect pricing (which they weren't even apologetic about), if I wasn't so annoyed by the terrible service. Our food took an extremely long time to arrive (very bad when hangry), which I can forgive if the server is attentive / apologetic. However, he completely ignored us most of the time. I ended up having to stand up to get the check paid, after failing to wave them down several times. Seriously an awful experience. read more

Awesome restaurant in terms of food quality, taste, value and service. I always leave kibo feeling refreshed and I think it's due to the quality of the ingredients they use. Their sushi is not obnoxiously over sauced like a lot of cheap sushi joints. Taste is derived from the natural flavors of the food rather than artificial sauces. I went to kibo sushi to try out the new restraunt in town, walking in some of my friends were hesitant to try it, knowing that the last place in here got shut down due to rats. We sit down and order, the waiter was nice, the lady in the photo however was ease dropping our entire conversation. My boyfriend gets his teriyaki chicken and it's green. I then begin eating my chicken katsu to realize my chicken is green as well. At the end of dinner i has to use the restroom but he light wouldn't turn on. i go back and i heard the lady pictured say, "can't you just pee in the dark?". Not impressed with the food or the service:/ wouldn't recommend to a friend. It would be a 1 star if the garlic edamame wasn't so damn good. read more

This restaurant is all around amazing! It was recommended by friends, as having the freshest fish, amazing food and very friendly service. We had to give it a try, and so glad we did because we experienced all of that. The waiter was extremely considerate and attentive! The food (raw and cooked) was all delicious. My husband is from Hawaii, and he was raving about their Kibo Pokie! I had their Spicey scallop handroll, Tekka Maki, Spicey hamachi I roll, and Ikura nigiri. Visited this spot on a Sunday night. I'm not from the East Bay, but happened to be hanging out over here with a friend. Stopped into Kibo and was pleasantly surprised. The fish was fresh, sashimi slices were thick, and the service staff were friendly and attentive. The price was also very reasonable (especially in comparison to the City). There were two of us and we ordered the following to share: -seaweed salad: very generous proportion size -sashimi poke: never seen it done this way, it had a mixture of fish mixed in with wakame, very flavorful and delicious (big enough for 2-4 people to share depending on how many other dishes you order) -$30 sashimi platter: approx 20 pieces we chose tuna, white tuna, hamachi, Hokkaido hotate (scallops), and they also gave us a couple pieces of Toro. They really did a nice job redecorating the interior. Nice lighting with suspended spotlights, calming and cheerful and tasteful decor. First, they bring a generous bowl of perfectly prepared edamame. Warm and tender but firm beans, lightly salted. Yum. I ordered chirashi which was beautifully prepared with plenty of fresh and sweet raw fish on a bed of sushi rice dotted with pickled veggies and a dollop of fish eggs. The husband had tempura ramen and we shared a dragon roll of eel, avocado, and tobiko. All happily devoured! Excellent and attentive service. The tea was flavorful with the cup never empty. My husband and I wanted to find a new sushi place near home and noticed that Kibo Sushi was recently opened so we gave it a try! I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of food they served. I particularly liked Kibo roll which had thinly sliced red onion along with other garnish on top that was so refreshing and light. The agedashi tofu was one of the best I've had. It had the right combination of light and crispy skin around the tofu and the sauce that came with it was tasty. My husband said the fish was very fresh on all the nigiris he ordered. I tried the Chirashi at lunch during the week a few weeks back. Chirashi is one of the dishes I use to gauge a good Sushi restaurant. I also use tempura and miso soup as a measure. Although I didn't have tempura this time I did have the Miso soup along with the Chirashi and both were good. The Miso was well balanced, not too heavy, not too light, and not too salty. I believe this place is owned and/or operated by Koreans rather than Japanese, but this doesn't mean the Sushi wouldn't be good. I've had some extremely excellent Sushi from some awesome Sushi chefs in South Korea several times. With regard to the Chirashi here, I have to say it was pretty good. The fish was good overall except for one of the fish types that was a little on the chewier and/or slightly less fresh side, and the chef did a good job cutting the fish and the size of the pieces were just about perfect and made it a good experience. The rice was well made and flavorful. I've been to restaurants that just give you plain white rice with Chirashi as opposed to actual Sushi rice that has been flavored with rice wine, etc. Suffice it to say I never return to those restaurants. The dish as a whole was also artfully done and looked good visually. It had a good assortment of additional ingredients that were flavorful and added to the whole experience. My wife had the Sashimi Salad, and while it was good and flavorful with a decent amount of fish, there really wasn't much salad to speak of... hardly any greens or vegetables at all. I'd encourage the owners/chef to add some greens and actually make it a Salad. Yakitori West in Dublin has some great dishes like this with good fish and greens mixed and a great Poke style dish in this vein. I recommend the owners here go eat there and learn from it. The price was also reasonable. If there is one small complaint it is that the total size of the dish itself was just a tad small for me. It felt just a little bit like they were skimping on the quantity (as well as the quality of one of the fish types). I could have used at least a couple more pieces of fish at a little additional cost. The assortment of fish was good, but it was also missing a few of the things I like to see in a Chirashi, such as pieces of octopus or surf clam. Adding those instead of additional fish would have been sufficient as well. Other than that, it was good and I'll probably come back now and again. If a little effort was made to take this from pretty good to perfect, I'd probably be back every week like clockwork. The key to having a very successful restaurant is make your product addictive. Right now, it's good, but not as amazingly addictive as some of the Sushi I've had living in Seattle... close... but still just a tad off. I'd encourage the owners to put a little additional effort into increasing the "value" given to customers which adds to making the experience addictive. What's better, getting an extra dollar or two in profit out of a customer who only comes once a month, or getting a little less in profit from a customer who comes once or twice a week? read more

My wife and I came during the rain, were promptly seated, and order taken within 5 minutes of looking at the menu. We typically eat vegetarian so it isn't difficult to order sushi for us as most places typically have few veg options. Everything that came out was fresh, beautiful, and delicious. Extra kudos to the avocado/cucumber rolls. I ordered a vegetarian I Don't Know and what came out was amazing, even another customer leaned over to ask "WHAT is THAT?!" It was a masterpiece and so good that it wasn't until we'd almost cleaned the platter my wife thought of taking a picture for a yelp review. The quality of the fish was great and it's hard to find such fresh fish and large fish portions. First time writing a review as this place was so amazing! I've been having a huge sushi craving forever now after traveling in Asia, and Kibo was the perfect place. We ordered the Poke Appetizer (which btw is free if you redeem their offer! Even more reason to go!), the Chicken Terriyaki, and the Salmon, Yellowtail, and Unagi Sashimi. The fish was incredibly fresh. The cuts were a bit thick, but I wasn't exactly complaining - it made for the quite the satisfying bite. The Chicken Terriyaki was incredible. It's the first time I've had a Chicken Teriyaki where I felt that the chef cared about the meat itself instead of just drowning it in sauce. The poke was delicious and well worth it haha. We were looking forward to trying out the newest sushi place in Danville. Unfortunately, our first visit may be our last thanks to the bad service. You may chock this up to the fact that they are new and just figuring things out, but we ordered a sushi roll, ramen, shrimp tempura, and teriyaki chicken. The sushi came out after about 20 minutes, but no soy sauce was brought to the table so had to wait another 10 minutes for that. The salad and miso soup that accompanied the teriyaki never came and it took a good 30 minutes or so for the teriyaki. By the time my wife got her meal, we all finished ours so we just packed it to go. The ramen was also too salty and the shrimp tempura was tiny. I hope they work out the kinks, but unfortunately not planning to come back to try again. read more

Came to NorCal for a visit and we were craving sushi so we decided to stop by. We sat outside which was nice with table and benches to sit on. I asked to switch out for a chair with a back and the staff was very accommodating. They also turned on a small heater for us in case we got colder outside. We ordered a lot of sushi, but I felt underwhelmed by the rolls and questioned some of the prices for what I was receiving. We had the Danville roll, Joy roll, yellowtail roll, and we shared some salmon nigiri and tuna sashimi. Our food came out fast and satisfied our craving. Our server was fantastic and checked on us often despite our table being the only one outside. I do wish we would have sat inside, though, because during our entire meal young kids were driving by yelling out the windows and interrupting us. I'm not sure if this is the area or if it was just coincidence. I would not be opposed to eating here again if we are nearby, but would probably be open to trying something else first. read more

So we decided to stop by this sushi place on a whim. (Frantically reading yelp reviews for sushi places until I saw something that piqued my interest.) What sold me was the "I don't know" roll. Dry humor at best, I wanted to bring my family to a place where they could finally order the one thing that was constantly picked at every restaurant, the "I don't know." As usual when we rolled up to the place, my family said their usual statements and asked me to pick out some items to try. We had their California rolls- a staple, Dragon roll- love unagi, and the I don't know. According to photos on yelp it seems like the chef changes that particular roll up to keep it fun and fresh for all the curious newcomers. Our roll was somewhat of a poke fusion type of roll and it tasted great! Loved that they asked if we wanted spicy or not. (How could we not try the spicy though?) The quality of the sushi here is a lot better than a lot of places I've been to in the nearby cities. Also, we did try the Tonkotsu ramen but thought the sushi was definitely better. Not knocking the ramen, it was decently good for a sushi place. Definitely will come back! read more

This is THE best sushi restaurant in Danville. High quality and generously portioned nigiri. We got the shiro maguro, maguro, hamachi and mackarel nigiri and they were all melt-in-your-mouth good. The wasabi guacamole seared tuna carpaccio was also delicious and an original dish I had never seen at sushi restaurants before. Definitely a must if you like guac and tuna. Kibo Sushi is now our favorite place for Ramen! Their Ramen is "broke the mouth" delicious. The pork is succulent, the noodles were perfectly prepared, and there is fresh ginger and incredibly savory mushrooms, and dried seaweed flavors throughout it. It has just the right "kick" to the broth and they serve up a generous helping of everything. We haven't sampled anything else on the menu as yet but this will be our go to place for Raman and we highly recommend it! read more

If you love high quality fish in your nigiri, this is the place for you. Great dishes and rolls but the star is the nigiri style sushi served here. The food here is absolutely delicious! Age fasho tofu was crispy and flavorful. Sashimi was really fresh. Will definitely be coming back.
