BACON CHEESE FRIES
Katie P.

We went to watch the Carolina-Duke game so it was super crowded. Our server did an amazing job still being attentive even though the energy in the room was extreme. I got the loaded cheese fries which are always good, great ranch too! My husband ordered grilled wings & they were tiny but tasty. My friend ordered a healthier option with grilled chicken & broccoli and really enjoyed it too!

I've had a taste for buffalo shrimp salad for lunch and KB was close by my afternoon appointment. They used to have the buffalo version but was more like the bang bang shrimp, which is a little more mayonnaise-y for my preference. The shrimp were cooked well though and the salad was fresh. Thanks for the good service. They have other daily specials like the $7.99 burger that you should definitely try if you're in the area.

Super place to eat, have some drinks and watch all the games. With probably over 25 tv's I'm sure your game will be on. I had the honey siracha and Inca from the fall menu and they were so good! Very crispy from a light breading and not too hot at all. I don't usually do spicy, but these were easy to handle and amazing. Even with the place packed for a Duke UNC game, our server Kiki was on point. It's a pretty loud place l, given how large and open it is, and with all of the TV's but if you want a little quieter space, ask for the room on the left when you come in. It was full but nowhere near as loud as the open part of the restaurant. They have everything from wings to steaks and ribs. They have salads for those wanting a more healthy option. Highly recommend!

So this is my first time visiting this location. Wanted to try something new. I ordered the dry rub wings with ranch dressing. They do not offer carrots/celery with their wings so I got a side of broccoli. I was surprised at the look because the skin was slightly burnt, but I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say it was the seasoning. Honestly my broccoli and beer was the best. There was special on pints of draft beer, $4. If I ever go back I probably won't get the wings, but am willing to try another dish on the menu.

We were greeted right away and taken to our table as we arrived. I really like the long big booths. Our waitress was super friendly. She stopped by a couple of times. I like that every seat has a good eye view of the TVs around the restaurant. The food was brought out by another waitress and came timely. I ordered a salad and it didn't come with my wings. I had to request it again. It was brought out promptly. The wings were grilled well, but they were a little underwhelming. The flavor was good, but they were a little tiny. The salad was very good. My daughter liked her chicken tenders. She was disappointed that one arrived and was lying in the honey mustard sauce she didn't ask for. So she refused to eat it. Overall, we will definitely return. This is a great space for larger groups.

So i know it's probably weird to go to kick back jack and not get wings but I LOVE their salad. I have gotten this each time I've gone. This is the fresh berry salad which is Grilled chicken breast served over mixed greens with candied roasted pecans, fresh blueberries, mandarin oranges, feta cheese, strawberries and Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette. Personally I love anything with Feta and candied pecans when it comes to a salad. The staff has always been friendly, the vibes super chill and plenty of seating. It's a great place to watch games or just "kick back"

We paid and left! Ridiculous as we were there to enjoy the games and food.

We came in and were offered doubles when ordering our drinks. We had a table of 4 people and in the midst of dinner after our second drink, we were cut off by our waitress. We were informed that we could order and she was sorry but she had to notify her manager if more than 4 drinks were ordered. We were a table of 45-67 year old people out to dinner and were insulted as if a manager would have to give us permission for an additional drink. This should be posted if this is your policy. We will never spend another dime at Kick Back Jacks!!

I enjoyed my experience at Kickback Jack's on Battleground Ave. Although I was picking up a takeout order, it was my first time visiting this location. I usually order through Uber Eats. Upon entering, the ambiance was fun and inviting, with a sports/game vibe. There are televisions almost everywhere you look, which is fantastic during any sports season! There is a large bar, ample seating, and a separate room for groups. The food is good, at least what I have tried so far. My favorite is the fish and chips. I didnt wait too long for my order, and when I had an issue with one of the plates, they went above and beyond to make it right. I will return to dine in and catch a football game soon.

Sevice was super fast and friendly. We ordered grilled wings, ceaser salad and drinks. Sweet Thai Grilled wings 6/10 the wings didn't have any texture of crispyness. The sweet Thai flavor was good. Ceaser Salad was a decent size for the price. The Mango Strawberry Bucket was good but wasn't strong at all. Needed more alcohol. Bucket was full of ice.

Our waitress was Lauren who was so pleasant and helpful. Service was outstanding. The food was delicious. They gave us plenty and of course we went home with 2 to go boxes for later . Thumbs up to the chef tasty fish with so much flavor on everything. No complaints here

Absolutely love Kickback Jack's. The food, service, and surroundings are good. Tonight, I had the fisherman platters. You get cod, shrimp, fries, and coleslaw. Everything was delicious. I sat outside. It was busy, and my servers were off, but it's good. The food made up. I recommend this place. Try sitting outside. I normally enjoy a cold beer and watch sports. Enjoy

I arrived at 6:20pm on a Sunday evening. There was a wait due to the football game. I decided to wait. I was notified that the table was ready at 6:48pm and was sat at 6:50pm. The waitress, Taylor, came over at 6:57pm. One of the Sunday specials was the "Peach Mint Lemonade" but waitress said they didn't have the ingredients to make it. I ended up getting the strawberry mango bucket along with a water. My cousin ordered Philly cheesesteak eggs rolls as an appetizer. We finished ordering around 7:08pm. I got 10 dry rub wings with broccoli. My son (birthday boy) got chicken Philly and fries. My other son got kids chicken tenders and fries. At 7:10pm, the Philly cheesesteak eggs rolls came. They were tasty! I received my drink a minute later at 7:11pm. I went to the restroom around 7:25pm. It smelled like a gas station restroom. It wasn't the cleanest. The floor by the ground urinals was wet and i almost slipped. The food had arrived by the time I returned to the table. I actually got like 13 wings instead of 10, so no complaints there! They were tasty. I got extra dry rub seasoning. When I got the bill, I noticed they charged me $0.50, which is no biggie but I should've been notified that there would be a charge. Another party was supposed to come but didn't make it. I ended up just ordering them some Buffalo wings to go. We waited a little bit for them. The waitress said they they took it up front. Overall, pleasurable experience!

Winter specials & 1/2 off wine
Reagan B.

Nothing like a 1/2 off glass of wine and some ranch cheese curds to seal the deal of yummy. That's what got me sucked in! I also ordered a side Caesar salad with onions & tomatoes and the New Orleans pasta. Unfortunately the salad was already dressed despite being to go. My bad for assuming they'd automatically put the dressing it on the side. Despite that, it was a lovely salad. The New Orleans pasta was filled with veggies and sausage and chicken and shrimp. What a delight! The bar atmosphere was quiet and had lots of space. The bartender was nice and checked in to make sure I was good. The food took a while but it's okay. It was worth the wait.

I got the gridiron fries and they were spectacular. The staff are awesome here, the food was great and the cocktails and bartender were even better, he could probably use some help at times but nonetheless 10 out of 10. I will most definitely be coming back because of him. Thank you Ryan and Thank you for your service to our country.

We came to watch the Kentucky Derby. First, let me say the waitress was great. She kept track of…read moreall thirteen of our orders and did as she was trained. Her demeanor always remained professional and courteous. The food varied based upon what was ordered. Those who ordered sandwiches reported they were good; those that ordered salads said they were okay (the Cobb was missing the egg and the chicken tasted pre-cooked; one person was charged 75 cents for extra honey mustard dressing), and those that ordered burgers said they were mediocre, reporting that the meat was room temperature and had a texture that felt pre-cooked. Beer was great. The issue came from the management. A person in our party ordered a Mint Julep. The waitress had never heard of it and checked with the bartender to make sure it could be made. She said the bartender wasn't familiar with it, but could look it up and make it. The drink never came. One of us went to the bar, picked it up, and brought it to our table. The drink lacked color. When our friend drank it, she said she couldn't taste any bourbon. (A classic Mint Julep should have 2-2.5 oz of KY bourbon.) We asked for more bourbon to pour into the drink. When the bill came, our friend was charged $23 for the drink: $10 for the drink that was made incorrectly, $10 for the extra bourbon, $3 for the sprig of mint. All our wanted was to be compensated the $10 for the incorrectly made drink. Management said they could not do it, that it would be illegal for them to do it, and that the bartender followed "their" recipe and that, even though it may not be what she was used to, the drink was made in accordance with their recipe. In other words, they lied. Management can always "make it right" by offering a $10 compensation, but they would have none of it. The integrity of the restaurant is lacking, particularly regarding management. So many great restaurants exist in the area. (We ate at two other restaurants that week that were excellent and in the same price range.) Why take a chance on one like this? Reading other reviews shows that something is terribly wrong with The Upper Deck Kitchen.....and what they call cocktails.

There are times when you need to circle back around and reconnect with a place that you enjoyed…read moreyears ago, but for whatever reason we have just not crossed their threshold. That's the way it was for us and Taproom, a long time Greensboro pub on Battleground Avenue. The last time we stopped by was pre-pandemic. Prior to Covid we had been somewhat regulars, visiting every couple of months. As we walked in, it was as if we had entered a time machine. Nothing aesthetically had changed. That's a good thing because Taproom exuded the comfortable dark wood intimate setting that it is always enjoyed. We wanted a little bar food and a couple of adult beverages. At the suggestion of the bartender, we split a Caesar salad as well as a Black and Bleu black flatbread. The Caesar salad is a classic and was very satisfying. Can't say it is special, but it is simply delicious. The flatbread was a lot of fun. It comes with olive oil, caramelized, onion, crumbled bleu cheese, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. We added blackened fillet tips as our protein. My only complaint is I should've ordered two. The flatbread is incredibly satisfying and the beef tips were savory, tender, and flavorful. I went old-school on the drink. I had a 20 ounce Guinness, while my wife had a mule. Both were spot on and worked really well with the food we had. Everything was very affordable as well. Taproom is loud and feels neighborly. I reviewed it nine years ago and I'm changing nothing. I highly recommend a visit if you're looking for drinks and pub food in a classic environment.

She was literally hoppin' it was so busy but did a good job of keeping up. She helped me find items on the menu that fit my dietary restrictions. Nice vibe, laid back, loud. Parking isn't great limited onsite but there's plenty of additional parking across the street. The best menu! There's SOOOO many things I want to try. I mean, a variety of different fries are you kidding me? My friend had the spicy goat burger which she said was good: if you don't like messy don't get it because the sauce is very sticky and she said there needs to be more sauce on the burger. I had a customized salad which was huge and delicious. The salad was too big for the size of plate though. The dressing was a house made roasted shallots and was yummy. Outdoor and indoor seating. Arrived around 3pm on a Friday and sat at the bar. Given the hour, it was fairly quiet. Weird experience, bar was wide open. I went to the bathroom and when I came back, someone decided to sit in the seat right next to me. Why?! I must comment on the service. The barkeep got me a menu quick and I ordered a water. During my meal, my water sat empty for 5 minutes or so even thought I counted 8 staff members behind the bar. Given the time of day, it was not busy. I ordered onion rings (as a side) and the Bacon Jam burger as it came with the "cordon Bleu" fries. The onion rings stole the show. So good. The fries were not my jam. Low quality cheese sauce with lunch meat ham that was diced. My fault, I should have subbed regular fries as I don't like stuff on my fries. I was expecting it to be a seasoning. My mistake. The burger was good not great. I got the 12 oz size and learned it is 2 fat 6 oz. patties stacked. Makes it VERY tall. The description of this burger is shown in one of my photos. Again, it was good but the flavors just did not pop. Wish I got the French Onion burger. Next time. :-) I do recommend!

On this weekday during happy hour, we had a bad experience unfortunately. Our server was amazing though! Giving her props for her friendly demeanor and great service. Drinks were also cold and refreshing. Where it turned sour: our Chef's Special appetizer plate. The mozzarella sticks were hollow. Not just thin, but completely hollow with no cheese, just an outer shell. The "beef" empanadas had no beef inside. Again, mainly hollow with only a little cheese inside. Overcooked and almost impossible to chew. They were also out of some pickled items that were supposed to be on the plate, and they substituted some old strawberries, which definitely did not complement anything on this plate. We were here for a full meal, but we stopped here and did not order our main courses. ***MOST IMPORTANTLY*** Some employees were engaging in activities inside the establishment, which are not conducive to a restaurant in any capacity. A call will be made to management and/or the owner(s). We're highly hopeful this is a one-off experience and these issues will be rectified going forward. We love this place. This wasn't my first time having the collard sausage dip and I could eat it with my hands it was so delicious freshly made and creamy ! This is hands down the best dip I've ever had and to top it off the fried pita !! My only complaint is there aren't enough pitas to dip ratio but I will order more next time. And I found the dip greatly paired with the catfish. ( no judgement) The catfish is something I've had before but I didn't have the pleasure of the waffles the last time and let me tell you ! I also tried their garlic parm boneless wings & they were so good. I loved how seasoned & salty they were, although they might be too salty for some people. I really loved it though! Their cocktail menu is also really interesting & creative. It's mostly whiskey of course but they do have other spirits. I tried the peanut butter & jelly Old fashioned and it was surprisingly delicious. It really did taste like a PB&J so I highly recommend. The inside is small but there's a nice outdoor seating area too. This really is one of my favorite places to get food in the area BUT the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I've been there remotely close to closing, they definitely let you know & make you feel rushed. I'm not one to go to restaurants last minute when they're closing because I know how that can make it difficult for employees, but being somewhere 45 minutes before they close shouldn't warrant getting rushed. I've been there before just to have a few cocktails at the bar about 45 min before closing & had the same experience. I still really love this place & will keep going (but probably not within an hour or so of closing lol)

For the main dish I got the spicy smash burger and added bacon. The burger was pretty tasty, both patties were juicy and overall it was the perfect spice. I will say, the burger patties themselves didn't really seem like smash style patties, they were fairly thicker and seemed to be normal grilled patties. Having two was almost too much burger to bun/topping ratio in my opinion. Fries could have been a little more seasoned and crispy as well, but that's more of a personal preference.
