It was all they could do to muster up a table for six but we'd have to leave quickly. So we sat down, looked at each other, felt unwanted and went over to a restaurant about 200 yards away and we're treated with dignity and respect and we left them with a nice profit. Such a great experience! This was our first time here and we were so pleased with the overall vibe of the restaurant, the service and the food! Everything was truly amazing. We enjoyed the pasta with vodka sauce and shrimp and pepperoni pizza, and both were fantastic. The cocktails were amazing as well! Could have used a crouton or two. Bolognese was served lukewarm (and server said "careful the plate is hot!) but it was delicious. Service was excellent and it's definitely a great place. We went to Kiki's during their happy hour service, but nothing on their happy hour menu appeared to be happy hour pricing. We ended up paying nearly $20 for one of the worst Margherita pizzas I have ever had. The quality of the ingredients and flavors reminded me of Chef Boyardee and the sauce tasted like the marinara you receive with frozen Marie Callender meals. In comparison, one of the best pizza-makers in the country, Chris Bianco, sells his Margherita pizzas for $22.00 and they don't have a happy hour. It's a beautiful place. The food was great, authentic and lots of flavor. It's really pricey and for some reason my salad felt like there was little granules of something in there. Amazing! As an Italian restaurant snob from NY/NJ, I probably wouldn't have even considered this place based on the name since it doesn't sound particularly Italian. My family and I decided to give it a try based on a recommendation from a local. We were not disappointed and now have a new go-to in La Quinta. Like the name, the atmosphere (other than the olive trees, which are cool) does not scream Italian. But it is interesting and there is a lot of conversation-starting artwork on the walls. We started with the homemade focaccia, which was divine. Next time we'll get two. My kids split a pepperoni pizza and it was really good. Pizza in CA is generally bad, but this had a homemade, super-thin crust. The pepperoni were bountiful and the hint of honey was as delicious as it was unique. My husband had the bucatini and meatballs, said it was fantastic and finished the whole thing. He wished he saved some of the focaccia to mop up the sauce. I had the half chicken parm, which was huge (I'm glad I got half). I had the grilled asparagus on the side and it was yummy. Normally, I'd poo-poo any Italian restaurant that didn't serve pasta with chicken parm, but you can get linguini as the side (or one of two sides if you get the whole order), so I'll allow it. LOL For dessert, we had cannoli. They actually give you two, so it's great to share. It was, like everything else here, very good. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered a to go order tonight and was really disappointed. This restaurant was recommended to me since I'm visiting so was excited to try. I ordered two pastas (bucatini cacio e pepe & mezzi rigatoni bolognese) and both lacked sauce and flavor. The Mezzi Rigatoni Bologese was really dry, the Cacio e Pepe looked like a half portion and both the noodles for the dishes were undercooked. Both did not look like the photos posted. I ended up sautéing them both with some seasoning, butter and added some fresh herbs and then they tasted good. read more

Wow -- first off, the vibe in here is next level! When I opened the door, I felt like I was transported to a funky oasis far away from La Quinta. The hostess and our server were so sweet, attentive and patient (we had our young kiddos with us). I ordered the chicken Milanese and a berry mojito, my husband had a beer and a Caesar salad, my son had pasta and my daughter had a pizza. I'm a spoiled foodie (PDX/NY/LA) and have been sad to discover that the desert is short of great dining options. I was so excited to try this restaurant out after hearing about it and let me tell you the food was creative, high quality and so amazing! I absolutely loved every single dish. Not only that but I felt that the value was there. The only downside is the lighting is SO BRIGHT at dinner. As someone who works in events for major brands and creates experiential moments through a marketing lense I implore this wonderful spot to please turn the lights down, uplight the small trees, add some faux candles and mood lighting. I guarantee you will do even better. I will def return but not for a date or relaxing evening as bright lighting at dinner is my arch nemesis but I'll return during daylight hours. We had reservations and we were seated promptly but the people ahead of us did not have reservations. There were so many open tables but they were told they could only sit at bar. The number of staff was overabundant so I am not sure what the issue was. The place never filled up after 1.5 hours. My first impression is this is "La Quinta" and the atmosphere is versed towards a much younger crowd. Loud dance music and disco balls. It's ok with me but..... Next ( and I was warned) the cocktails are maybe 5 sips big! I had the spritz while it was tasty it was not worth 18.00! If it was twice the size then definitely yes! The waiter must have been new. or poorly trained. Asked what vegetables were in the short ribs and he could only come up with one vegetable. I asked what else and he said"i don't know". I then had to ask...."can you find out??" Waiters should know the menu forwards and backwards especially for a menu that small. Next we ordered a great bottle of wine but he spilt it on my boyfriend and my purse. What? Not even sure how that happens when just pouring into a glass. My boyfriend ordered Ice tea as well and we were told they were out of sweet and low or any other sugar sub??? The food...Started with the meatballs which seemed to have been sitting around for awhile and were cold. We also had the pepperoni pizza which was entirely too sweet for my taste but the dough was great and pizza cooked well. The rigatoni was very rich with a mix of red and white sauce. Just ok. Went last Sunday night for a rare & random date night We walked in and were asked if we had reservations which we did not and I got nervous since the restaurant seemed pretty busy We were seated not too long after tho which was lucky for us (I'd recommend reservations especially during season) Our waiter came grabbed our drink orders We had time to look over the menu which everything sounded amazing We ended up ordering drinks & the buratta & focaccia to start with Both came around the same time and the buratta & focaccia was amazing hot & fresh We ordered the chicken parmesan, which was huge but only the chicken which it does say everything comes like that I got the rigatoni Bolognese Both dishes were amazing and enough for us to share It did take a bit to get our food but we relaxed and enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere We also ordered the cauliflower as a side which didn't come out and we actually didn't ask for since the mains were so filling and forgot to see if we wed even charged Ended with the pot of caramel goodness. Worse dinner ever! So sad as we heard such good things about this restaurant. To begin with there were no reservations available after 5:00 according to Open Table so we chose 5. From 5 until we left at 7 half the restaurant was empty. That was annoying and I had to use a credit card to get the 5:00 res. ? We had salads to start. I ordered the pear / house salad which was good but my friend's Caesar was soggy and tasted like it was leftover from the previous night! For our main course, I had the whole branzino and paid extra to have them fillet it (at $45 there's an extra charge?) Not realizing that it comes a la carte, I also had to order the roasted potatoes. The branzino was a very large portion (whole fish, I guess I should have expected) so glad that I shared with my daughter. We didn't finish either. The fish was mushy and flavorless. And it had bones! My daughter had to keep picking them out. Service was nothing special and all in all a very disappointing meal- especially for the price! I took my 6 year old to a mother/daughter date last night to Kiki's. We loved it. My kid is the pickiest eater and she gobbled everything down and kept saying how good everything tasted. Additionally, our server, Nick (I believe was his name) I was so touched by how kind he was to us and how amazing he was to my daughter. He was absolutely incredible and gracious the whole evening and made our experience there that much better! After we finished, my kid said she wants to come eat there every day lol. Her words, verbatim! I got the fish, it was so soft, buttery, and just melted in your mouth. My daughter got the bolognese pasta and she gobbled it up! We also got the margarita pizza too as an appetizer! I don't know how we were able to fit in so much food but it was so delicious that we couldn't stop eating. And we finished this evening up with the very decadent olive oil chocolate cake which was so light and airy. The atmosphere is such a vibe and just what the valley needed. We had a reservation for a booth for 4 for 5:30pm yesterday-Saturday evening. We were sat right next to the front door in a half booth sticking out into the entryway- made me wish I hadn't even made a reservation. It was BOILING HOT and stuffy so we asked to move but were told there was nothing else available - not even the patio. We asked and were told that, yes, air conditioner was out. Ugh. Meal came out and all four of us were shocked at how SMALL the portions were for the price. Our friends had to order an extra entree just to have enough to eat!
