I knocked off 1 star because I felt really rushed during lunch. But maybe they want to be sensitive to people's lunch hours?

This was my first try, and I would say that the quality of the sushi was pretty good. I ordered in, and the presentation of the sushi in the containers was also very well done. The reason I detract one star is because although I had ordered several different rolls, it seemed like it was a little skimpish on the portions, but otherwise good. Will try again. read more

I found the Sushi to be fresh. The Sushi rolls are innovative. My kids love the Hibachi. A little pricey, but good food generally is.

Nice place in the heart of Bedminster. Food is excellent. The sashimi appetizer with 9 pieces was a great start. Rolls were also very good and everything was fresh. I have eaten here several times during business travels, highly recommend. read more

Went to Kiku twice in the past couple weeks. First time was with another couple for New Year's Eve hibachi. We made a reservation and were seated almost immediately. The table was not completely full (which was nice since no one likes to feel crowded when they eat), and the presentation was good. The chef "read" the table pretty well. What I mean is, he did his usual hibachi tricks, asked to toss shrimp in our mouths (2/4 of us went for it, all in good fun), but didn't try to force the issue. We were all there to eat and talk, not too into the showmanship aspect. The price was a tad higher than some other places we've been for hibachi, but the food was very good and no complaints about the service. Our second visit was a Sunday afternoon for lunch with the in-laws. We were literally the only people in the restaurant, which was surprising but still fine by us. It's BYO so we brought some wine and champagne. They saw the bottles and brought over wine glasses without us even having to ask. Again, the food was good (my mother-in-law ate everything on her plate and she NEVER does that!) and the service suitable. The only negative was the salad on the lunch visit. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect anything fantastic from a hibachi place, but it looked a little limp like it had been sitting out awhile. Considering the place was dead and we were the only customers there, I think they could have made it fresh instead of prepping it so far ahead and letting it sit. read more

I went to Kiku with a party of 8 people. We had a reservation and arrived on time. As soon as we sat down we felt rushed. The woman who took our order was very rude and pushed us to hurry up when ordering. She was clearing our plates before we were even finished eating. When we paid the woman asked why we didn't tip more then we did! There are plenty of great hibachi restaurants in the area and I'm sorry that we chose this one to celebrate at. read more

Average food quality. Noodles were too oily. Decor average. Could get more creative with the sushi.

One of my favorite sushi places! Order the out of control roll, it's literally out of control yummy! The meso soup is good. I perfer hibachi else where though. I give this 5 stars for the service (they are so kind) and of course I gave it 5 for my favorite sushi :) read more

We went for a Hibachi lunch and had chicken. The chicken felt rubbery and was probably undercooked. Food was mediocre and the experience was just ok. It's quiet and there were no customers. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Was more than disappointing. Hibachi was very poor. Cold brown rice served as a side way before the hibachi was started. The shrimp appetizer was served along with the main course. Portions were extremely small, three teen boys went away hungry. A white slab of something was served as calamari! The vegetables were served last, in fact it was a serial meal you could not eat anything together. It made no sense. Kiku used to be great hibachi, but we wont be going back. Too bad! read more

We went to Kiku recently for dinner with a group and like other reviewers were rushed. From the moment we sat down and were asked to order before we even had menus to literally being asked to leave not even an hour later as we were finishing our meal. The food is average the service is the worst I've experienced. We will never return after being treated the way we were treated. read more

Super slow service! The waiters are impatient and have no social skills. They lied about what broth they used! They put chicken broth in my soup! Absolutely Unsatisfied. When I repeatedly told the waiters that I would not like that in my broth. Hibachi was basic but not super pricey. I'd prefer using my hard earned money somewhere else. I don't recommend going here. The people like Northvale Diner, are probably drawing rainbows and NOT writing our orders down. read more

Best sushi Ive had. Hands down ! Get the Kiku love boat for 2 and seaweed salad. You wont be disappointed. It comes with salad and soup too. It could feed 3 people easily. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. It was my first hibachi here and unfortunately the food was very bland and upset my stomach. The fish may have been undercooked. The restaurant apparently did not have any storage and kept all of their materials around in the open which made it feel like were in a garage. The only redeeming quality was the performance of the chef for the kids. read more

It's hard to compare because we have STELLAR hibachi (we call it teppanyaki) in toronto. the chef tries far too hard to be funny, and it comes off as awkward. the quality of the food is acceptable, the taste is acceptable. the only thing worth noting is that the quantities are huge, but they are expensive (even for lunch), so it doesn't end up being a plus. not overwhelming, not underwhelming, just alright. read more

Horrible Horrible Horrible. We have been to this place a few times before and it has been decent. We were a party of 12 and were told when we sat down that we had to "hurry up and order - it was a busy night". We had to ask for water, sushi and the food was prepared all wrong. Everything that was ordered was wrong--including the way the meat was to be cooked! The prices were outrageous for such mediocre food and the chef that served us was an idiot! He dropped a sponge on the loor then picked it up to clean the grill. We had to tell him that we were not eating that after he cleaned the grill with a dirty sponge!! The chef kept saying " so sorry"....who cares - cook it right!! I would NOT tell anyone to eat here and it is definitely off our list. I will travel further for a much better meal!! read more
