I've ordered from this guys many times from 30-40$ worth of food to 400$ for a japanese party at my place in brooklyn. All good untill a couplenof weeks ago,when I decided to order a Suhi and sashimi combination(20$) and o bottle of cold sake(7$). I received the.delicious food and the drink holding my sleeping 7 months old baby so I give the guy a 5$ tip and I rush inside my apartment. Then I realized I've been charged 38 something $, so I call back. The lady on the phone start yelling at me ,telling me the sake is 13$ because the bottle is a big.one. The only cold sake listed in the menu is 7$,so I told her to ask their "stupid" customers if they want a small or a big one. Her answer: you should tell us if you want a small one. How would I know that you have different sizes if they are not listed?! She kept being rude and loud so I asked her to stop yelling at me and to get a manager. I'am the manager,she said and she keept being on the wrong side. One thing I know for sure, there are plenty of good sushi places in parkslope that will love my business. As a restaurant owner you should train your managers to be polite and helpful with your patrons espacially when they are wright! It is not about the 5$ difference, is all about the feeling of being fooled! You should know better!:( read more

This place was disappointing. The sushi was a tad better than prepackaged sushi at the grocery store. This place was not for us. It appeared to be the place where families bring their kids to eat sushi. A ton of kids in here and some were quite loud. If you want sushi and you are in a pinch it is fine. I've been to much more expensive sushi places in much more glamorous locations, and none of them have been as good as Kiku; it is the total package. Start with the food- I've generally gotten the sushi deluxe platter or the salmon/tuna lover platter (what a fantastic idea!), and I've never gotten a dud. The quality is top notch, the presentation is artful (and frequently changing), even for delivery! The service is attentive but not overbearing, the atmosphere is restful, modern, and stylish. I'm sure it makes me a barbarian to say so, but I've been to Blue Ribbon in Manhattan, and as I was sitting there, I was thinking about how much better everything was a Kiku, at half the price. Sushi joints proliferate like locusts in the Slope, and I've been to one or two others just for variety, and they were fine, but Kiku stands above all of them. It also makes pretentious, expensive Manhattan sushi places totally redundant. Do yourself a favor and check it out. read more

i joined Yelp just to write this review so that I could let other people to know what happened to me at this restaurant. My friend and I ate at Kiku on 5th ave one night and we split the bill on our respective credit cards. We signed our receipts with the correct amounts on each receipt. The next day I checked my bank account and the entire bill had been charged to my account, which is odd because I had signed a receipt with the proper amount at the restaurant. I called the next day to speak with a manager and the lady on the phone said the manager was away and would be gone for an indefinite amount of time. This was unacceptable. I called the Kiku Restaurant on 7th avenue and spoke with a manager there who said that he would correct the overcharge. I checked my bank statement later and they still overcharged me by $10. This is unacceptable and I called my bank to dispute the charge. So my advice, beware. read more

I came here after a movie to have dinner with 3 friends, and it was a so-so experience. There is a "restaurant" feel to it, definitely not just a take-out place. Nice brickwork and dark wood panels gives the place some ambiance. But the tables are placed so close together that you feel as if you're going to hit the table next to you. The menu is pretty standard as far as appetizers, salads, and a creative selection of rolls (when in Park Slope, go for the Park Slope roll:) and the prices are also standard. The waitress was very rude, though, which really detracted from my experience...she made a face when I sent back a salad after I had requested it without dressing and she brought it with dressing. She came back with another one and actually said "Next time, okay, you tell me before." I didn't let that go, and said "well actually I did tell you," but she continued with her snippishness throughout the night. The salad was terrible, by the way. I ordered 2 vegetable rolls in addition which were okay. Wouldn't go back, but not a terrible place. read more

We've ordered from Kiku on and off over the past few years; it used to be good, and after my last two experiences, you couldn't pay me to eat there. In the past, we had had some great rolls from them - a little overpriced for what it is, but fresh and nice combinations. The last time we ate there the rolls were meh - the fish was flavorless and all rolls had too much sweet sauce, but I decided to give them another shot at delivery the other night. The eel roll (crazy? Dancing?) was so fishy I had to spit it out. A roll with fried crab was gritty, tasteless and rubbery. The spicy salmon crunch rolls were were also tasteless and I doubt there was actually any salmon in there. We spent $45 and I didn't eat more than one piece of each it was that bad. Had it not been late in the evening and had I not been so tired, I would have called and asked for my money back. I will not be going back. read more

I've had delivery from Kiku many times. Usually the food is fair to good. My one star review is for the quality of the delivery staff. The last few times I've ordered the guy just about drops the bag at your feet, grabs the money from your hands, grunts, and walks away. This is after he receives a decent tip for his efforts. We have been ordering from this place several times and EACH TIME the order has been wrong - something missing or we get things we didn't ask for; often overpriced and always poor in quality (no fresh ingredients!). Would recommend trying out the other Japanese in the neighbourhood! read more

The sushi rolls were made with very hard old rice, like the day old kind you get at a supermarket . My friend ate there the night before and said it was fresh. I had lunch, so maybe they use the rice from last night. I have been eating sushi almost every day at different places in New York and never had rice that was so old and hard.GROSS!!! read more

We live around the corner and Kiku (take out version) is a heaven-sent. Nothing much else around here as light and reliable.

So I work across the street from this place and must say its great! I probably eat here 3 to 4 times a week and so do my coworkers, we all love it. The service is always nice and they are more than happy to be creative by making what ever we ask for and sometimes what ever they want. I think for take home sushi its the best in the hood! I'm guessing this is a place you go and sit down at rather than get delivery. Or maybe they had a better delivery guy in the other reviews. The food was okay (the rice had some really dry, hard parts, the miso was bland, and the katsu was okay), but the delivery guy was horrible! He called, he said he had my food, so I told him my apartment number and that I would buzz him up. I buzzed him in and waited and there was nothing. So I figured he probably had the wrong address, I called him back, he was saying some other things, but I couldn't quite understand. He had an accent, but it was more the loud noises on the street that made it hard to hear him. So then, he calls back, I ask him if he needs to be buzzed in, he says yes. he rang the bell, I buzzed him in and he comes upstairs, angry and yells 'I have a car!' which basically meant he wanted me to go down the stairs and meet him. Excuse me? I tipped a little over 20% because I know that it sucks to deliver up a walk up, especially if riding a bike, but this guy DROVE! I told him, I didn't understand him on the phone, and he kept yelling, so I told him bye and closed the door on his face. Are you kidding me?!! If I didn't close the door, he probably would've ended up getting his nuts kicked. Never again, never again. read more
