Ordered a family dinner here a couple of weeks ago and we got a party tray, a couple of teriyaki entrees, fried rice, and pad thai. Party Tray A ($38) comes with the classic rolls: California, Salmon Avocado, Eel Avocado, Caterpillar, Shrimp Tempura, Tuna Avocado, Spicy Tuna. All tasted fresh and delish - no complaints there. The tofu teriyaki entree ($10.95) was surprisingly yummy - silken tofu with a thin, crispy exterior and sauce on the side to maintain its texture. We also got the salmon teriyaki ($15.95) which was pretty standard. I think there is a new chef in town. I have ordered from here often enough to know/think there is a new chef in town. The food quality is significantly better than before. Or maybe they just had a good night. The food in general is pretty good here although they get your order wrong quite often, but then again, that's how I have discovered new dishes that I like. I enjoy this Japanese restaurant and order from here pretty often. So often that they know my order when I call for delivery. I always get the salmon teriyaki bento box or salmon or scallop (or both) hibachi entree. Both of these dishes are so yummy. I love the grilled veggies that come with the hibachis. But I had leftover Grubhub credit I think from cat sitting someone's felines and lets not let that hard earned pussy watching duckets go to waste. Was feeling kind of horrible the other day and treated myself since I was working from home. I had done takeout once a few months prior here. Highly recommend splurging for the lunch specials. It's discreetly listed at the very end of the menu. But they have combos on any regular sushi rolls 2 for under $10 and 3 for about $13. I went with the 3 combo this time and split it over lunch/dinner. Comes with a huge thing of miso soup. Not stingy at all with their soup. And a small side salad with a really delicious dressing. No idea what it is but it's like carrot/ginger/mustard kind of tasting. The sushi isn't the best I've ever had. But it's fresh enough it won't kill me. I weirdly preferred the alaskan and salmon rolls over my go to spicy tuna. Not sure why but wasn't feeling their version of spicy tuna both times around. It's solid and affordable. Would totally come here again for a filling lunch for only ten bucks. Heads up - during Covid they're not doing indoor dining. It's to-go orders only. My go-to sushi place. There never do me wrong . The food is fresh and delicious and they are attentive. I order so much that if I forget to make a special request on a usual time they will call to make sure I didn't make a mistake. I have never had anything here that was disappointing. As for the food, we ordered salmon roll, dynamite roll and Godzilla roll. All three were either fully or partially deep fried; we're not a fan of raw sushi. My family has eaten here a lot, and we even got a very large order of sushi for a birthday party one time. We have always had a good experience and never any complaints. I ate here with my daughter this weekend. Something has changed. The blue recessed lighting that resembles a 1980s cocaine-fueled cocktail lounge or a New Jersey strip-mall dining room trying to be hip, is unsettling. It was also so cold that the server was wearing a down-filled parka. I wasn't in the mood for sushi, my daughter was; but we have ordered non-sushi meals here before and never had any complaint. She ordered an appetizer hand-roll and a sushi combo, I ordered soup and Pad Thai. Her salad and hand-roll arrived very quickly and she was almost done with them when I asked about my soup, which was "being cooked." Oddly, I think of soup as being prepared in a large pot ahead of time and served as it is ordered. I ordered soup from the appetizer page of the menu and I expected a cup of soup. I received a large entree-sized bowl of watery, disappointing Tom Yum soup. I have ordered Tom Yum many times in many restaurants, and it is pretty standard fare. This was not like any Tom Yum I have ever had. My daughter's sushi combo looked great and she enjoyed it. I could tell by looking that the fish was fresh and well-prepared. My Pad Thai was not what I expected. I have no idea what sauce they used, but having eaten this dish many times over the past 40 years, it was nothing like I have ever tasted before. And it was not enjoyable. I ate the shrimps from the soup and noodles, ate some of the soup and some of the noodles, and left behind most of my meal. MY goodness! Rotten Soft Shell Crab roll. Once the amazing Kumo on Cortelyou Rd. was out of commission due to a fire, we started ordering from Sake Sushi, via seamless. The food was good for a few weeks. THEN it was downhill. I called on two different occasions to ask where our Seamless order was and both times they were insanely rude and said "I don't know, it left already". The last time was the worst as they were an hour and 15 min late. I called. They said the same thing but really, they never placed our order. Never apologized. The food arrived and the soft shell crab roll smelled like rotten fish. I ate one piece and that was the defining factor that made it official - we'll never order from their again. The sauces were wrong and they put caviar and tobiko on rolls that did not come with it and I am allergic to shellfish and specifically asked for certain accommodations. The food arrived much earlier than scheduled and everything was packaged very well (not something I normally notice, but this arrived super neatly wrapped/with all proper utensils). I ordered the caterpillar roll and a salmon/avocado roll. Both were yummy, l and hit the spot when you're craving sushi but not looking to go to a crazy expensive place. This is best sushi place in the neighborhood. We have been ordering from them for 10 years. They are always prompt and never get the order wrong. The appetizers that we love are the vegetable tempura, shiitake age, and the fried oysters. We love the sushi sashimi entree with the crispy dragon roll, beef negamaki, chicken yakitori, pork katsu, chicken fried rice (authentically not soaked with soy sauce). Only thing i find there delivery staff is a bit weirdos they seem to focus on the tip $$ on in hands before they give you the receipt or the bag of food they go Divin for there tip... this happened a few occasions.. once i had to stop the delivery guy he didn't give me the credit card receipt which they do because you need to sign it and mark down if your adding a tip..
