And then we used the two dipping sauces which I are a creamy sesame and I guess a ponzu, which I added some green onion and garlic to. The combination of the very light broths and the very light sauces is... very light. I guess someone might say you "taste the ingredients" more compared to the vastly superior hot pot where you add some flavor via the cooking medium and have a wide variety of flavorful ingredients to make a customized sauce. I can somewhat understand the perspective of wanting to mostly taste the flavors of the raw ingredients... but I don't agree with it. To me shabu shabu is basically hot pot minus flavor, and hence kind of a waste. I will say, pricing is relatively good here. Our bill was under $150 for a ton of food with everyone feeling very full. The restaurant itself is very clean and they have a large and convenient parking lot. If only it was a hot pot restaurant it definitely had all the ingredients for a 5 star review.

Their ingredients selection is fairly standard. If you're planning to eat your own bowl, I would skip on the noodles because they provide a free side of rice or noodles when weighing your bowl. My bowl weighed 0.9 lb and I was asked to go back and get more before I could pay. I chose the classic beef bone broth. When my bowl was brought out, I noticed they had added green onions on top as a garnish. I personally don't like these, so I removed them. Note that depending on the soup you get, they might add other ingredients that weren't in your original selection. The broth was balanced and not too greasy. I appreciated that it came with a free side of rice (or noodles, depending on what you choose), which is convenient for anyone that wants to share. While their broth was good, I'll likely go to other hot pot places for a wider variety of ingredients and lower weight minimum.
