My wife and I have had this place on our list to try out for almost 3yrs and finally got the opportunity to go on a Friday evening for our anniversary. I'll start by saying our service was impeccable the entire evening, I can't remember the name of our waitress, but she was attentive, kind, helpful, and really did make the evening amazing! Regarding food, I started with lobster bisque, and my wife had a salad. The lobster bisque, I would rate 4/5 stars, as it had a mild smooth flavor, but it was missing something that I just could not put my finger on. My wife enjoyed her salad and ate it all. For entrees, I ordered the beef Wellington, and my wife ordered a wet aged steak. The beef Wellington was cooked to perfection. The pastry was perfect and crispy. Though after tasting my wife's steak I regret not ordering a steak instead. The steak was delicious and seasoned perfectly. For sides, we ordered the brussels sprouts and lobster mac & cheese, the brussels sprouts were not as we expected, they were a bit too wet in the vinaigrette style dressing that they were in which made them too soft, I was hoping for a more crunchy, sweeter flavor and the vinegar flavor was a bit overpowering. I will say though that both my wife and I joked that we would come back just for the lobster mac & cheese. YES IT IS that good. For dessert, we ordered the crème brûlée, which was on the thicker side however, it did have a nice mild flavor. Since it was our anniversary and we noted that on our reservation, the restaurant kindly gifted us a small cut of their desserts on a plate with happy anniversary written in chocolate, which I thought was a very sweet and nice touch. Please read, and don't waste your money like we did.------ We made a reservation at Killen's Steakhouse to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We had been there before and previously had a good experience, so this visit was disappointing. From the beginning, service felt off. Our table was wobbly, and we did not receive water until after we had already finished the complimentary bread. Our waiter never introduced himself and seemed very inexperienced. The food presentation was also underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium well, but it was cooked unevenly -- medium well on the edges and medium in the center. The mushrooms lacked seasoning, and the cocktails looked rushed instead of thoughtfully prepared. Nothing about the meal felt picture-worthy or upscale, especially compared to other Houston restaurants like Bludorn, Perry's Steakhouse, or Whiskey Cake and many other restaurants in the Houston area. What surprised us most was that no manager ever came by to ask how everything was. For a restaurant with this reputation and pricing, we expected much better attention to detail and customer service. We were also disappointed that there was no complimentary birthday dessert. Many restaurants at this price point offer something small to help celebrate special occasions. I wanted to take my wife someplace nice for our 30th anniversary. She picked Killens which was good with me because I like BBQ. She said the steak house which is nicer. It has been a while since we went there so I checked their website to check their hours. Opens at 5PM but they have a Happy Hour from 4-6. My wife called the restaurant to clarify their hours and reached a recording saying that they opened at 5PM. We drove to the restaurant and arrived at 5:15 and found that the restaurant was closed, apparently for a renovation. It looks like it has been closed for a while. It would have been nice for a note to have been added to their website or their recording saying that they are temporarily closed. Something on yelp saying they were closed also would have been nice. I ordered off the HRW menu: smoked Kurobuta pork belly (incredible flavor and sauce), prime NY strip (upgraded to 14 oz, perfectly cooked and seasoned), and bread pudding. We came with a large group and were able to try multiple dishes and we all really loved our food. It's important to note that in our party of two, one of us uses a wheelchair. We arrived 5 mins late for our 5pm reservation. The bar was busy but the main dining area was still quiet. The three ladies at the hostess table welcomed us and told us our table in the main dining area was ready for us. I asked about the happy hour menu - and was told they only serve that in the bar are - I pointed out that none of the tables in the bar area are accessible, all were high tops or at the bar. We were relegated to a regular table off the bar, where no one else was being seated. Our waitress, Hannah, was kind and efficient. She helped us order items and were not disappointed with most of the choices we ordered. The wagyu beef skewers on the happy hour menu were amazing. The wedge salad did not look like it was a baby iceberg - but rather a regular sized iceberg lettuce. It was pretty but hard to eat. The French onion soup was under salted and had some burnt (not caramelized) onions. The cheese on top was not Gruyère (pretty sure it was Swiss) and added nothing to the depth of flavor to the soup. It didn't melt well or stretch when eating it. Highly disappointing. The main we ordered to share - 16oz wet aged ribeye that was perfect in every way. The Mac and cheese was meh and the Brussels sprouts were drenched in a vinegary dressing that was overdone. The French creame brûlée was delicious, but lacked that "snap" when you crack the top. The sugar wasn't thick or hard enough. Hannah was perfection as a waitress. On our way out, my partner needed help using the restroom - knowing that this was a newer restaurant in the area was surprised by the lack of accessibility in the bathrooms. There were not any single stall family restrooms, but even the accessible restroom in the men's room was tight. No turning radius and way too hard to help in. We exited the restroom, and headed to the large front doors. The three hostesses just standing there - watching me try to figure out if the doors pushed or pulled open with a wheelchair and a doggy bag. Our waitress saw me struggling and after delivering food to a table in the bar, ran over to help me. Overall, the food was alright. It didn't live up to the hype. I went here tonight ordering the wet-aged NY Strip cooked rare, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a slice of Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake for dessert. Like I said, simple taste style, but very well executed. The wine was cold, crispy, refreshing, fruity and bitter quenching my pallet. I also enjoy gin, whisky, beer and sangria with steak when it comes to alcoholic drinks. I had their amazing carrot cake last time and almost got their amazing bread pudding this time, but decided to get that one next and try their new decadent chocolate cheesecake. I love Killen's -- BBQ and Burgers so much. My husband and I decided to give their steakhouse a try. We ordered to go for our annual birthday dinner since we have a little baby at home. We love steak and seafood know high quality when we eat it, however Killens steakhouse really missed the mark. We ordered the bone marrow as an appetizer, a dry aged 16 oz rib eye medium rare, and the Alaskan King Crab truffle pasta. The only thing that tasted decent was the bone marrow and honestly, it was lacking in the amount. It was mostly bone and maybe 1/4 of it had marrow. It was mainly a bone on top of mashed potatoes. My husband's 16 oz. steak tasted like it was from Chili's or Applebees and was well done. My Alaskan King Crab must've been lacking truffle because it tasted like 3 day old noodles and was very dry. The truffle Mayo at Killen's Burger has 1000x way better taste than this. Also, when I showed up at 4:30 for my guaranteed order, it took them over 10 minutes to tell me that my order was still being prepared and wasn't ready yet. Today (9/30/25) we went to celebrate my husband's birthday to Killen's Steakhouse in Pearland, Texas. It was our first time and will be our last. After reading the reviews, we were expecting to have a nice dinner. The waiter recommended lamb chops, it was the special of the day, I really like lamb chops, so I decided to try them. Worst decision ever. It was a $95 plate for lamb chops that were 95% fat. I really wanted to talk to the manager, but just because it was my husband's birthday and he is the type of person that doesn't like to complain I did not. It was so raw, usually when you order duck or lamb, you're asked the temperature/ cook. This was cooked blue rare and didn't enjoy it. Our friends order the lobster bisque and it was super salty. They said it was a bouillabaisse base and it's flavor, but there's a difference between flavor and salt overkill. The dry age ribeye and crab cake were pretty good except the crab cake was me picking out shells every other bite. The add on lobster tail was mushy and not fresh. Our party was large and there were 2 servers. Ok, decided to see what all the hype was about myself. So, I shimmied down to the local steakhouse. I have passed this place several times and never really gave it a thought, because it was a steakhouse house and most do not offer vegan menu or much when it comes to options. First thing to note is that they have complimentary valet parking. Second would be the outdoor seating option. Third is the wonderment of the aesthetics on the inside, the lighting, the seating the noise level. So, sophisticated, so fancy and yet comfortable. Now let's factor in the fourth note being the server, who was very pleasant and seemingly happy to perform tonight, making it that much more pleasant for me. I also notice and additional server as one gentleman walked around with several water glasses ensure the glass rims where constantly topped and he did it with a smile. Now let's get to the good part what did I eat? Of course this is a steakhouse and understood however, I look for options, because everyone I dine with may not be a vegan eater. Although, I am hoping somewhere down the line they do become a little more vegan conscious I start with a dish similar to breakfast potatoes in preparation which was escorted in with sautéed onions, or I could have gotten a baked potatoes. This was paired well with the charred Brussels with a small adjustment in the finishing touches. I took my Girlfriend here for her birthday. First, Their well bourbon was premium bourbon? AMAZING. The appetizers, Pork belly fell apart in my mouth. It was so deliciously tender and flavorful. I do not know how to compare the lobster Macaroni and Cheese, But it was silky and cheesy and smooth and amazing. The steak, I ordered Wet aged ribeye, My girlfriend ordered dry aged. I have never had a steak done to a perfect medium rare and hers to rare like this. Seasoned perfectly and they were kind enough to explain Wet aged vs Dry aged. It was a great experience. It was a tiny bit pricy but it was amazing. Always recommend a reservation though for better seating. read more
