First off, can we talk about how Jimmy has been feeding struggling families for over a year now, since the beginning of the pandemic? He does it out of the kindness of his heart. Just let him know that you need a meal, and he'll feed you. No questions asked. Customers started contributing to his fund, and shortly thereafter, the local news picked up on his good deeds. I've been coming here for years. Although the booths and decor and very much outdated, you get the homestyle, local service here. Comfort food & comfort feels. No frills, just lots of aloha. You can order takeout, even larger platters, and they can have it ready within an hour or so. Perfect for the potluck procrastinators. (Now, they are short staffed and it's been difficult to rehire employees, so please keep that in mind, as both takeout and dine in had longer waits recently). They give a lot of food. Even on my hangriest days, I can't finish a plate. Everything I've tried here is good. Love the meat jun, fish jun, chicken katsu, kalbi, mandoo, kim chee soup. Meat jun pan is a hit for potlucks. The dried daikon kim chee is my favorite, and you get free refills. There are too many restaurants struggling and closing because of covid. Please keep supporting them because the aloha that they serve goes beyond simple customer service. My family has been coming here longer than my existence on this planet... and i'm in my mid-30s. When my dad was alive and working at a hospital in Kaimuki, he often took his work meetings there. The small portion meat jun was always my go to bento at the Kapaolono summer fun end of the summer picnic thing we put on for our parents in the early 90s. I get INSTANT nostalgia when I walk in and I am greeted by the display case. IYKYK... but the main reason why I will continue to support this family is because of how they took care of their community during COVID. I got to thank Jimmy personally the last time I went and I was getting a bit emotional. He loves the community and has been paying it forward in every way he knows how. Parking lot available for .75 cents an hour or curbside metered parking along Waialae is an option too. Restaurant has 2 entrances one street side and the other parking lot side. Seating is every other booth and actual menus are handed out for ordering. Dining in treats you to their all-around house sauce and family style sides. The house sauce was very good and remember to take some sample sizes home. Each plate is plentiful including the small portion and come with seaweed soup and a bowl of rice. The rice was either under cooked or had too little water. Meat Juhn was tender and batter/beef complemented each other well. KING Kalbi was delicious but shrimp tempura took some time peeling away the excessive batter. All in all a great dinner night with the ohana. read more

I used to love this place except I don't know what happened. We were greeted and told that we could sit anywhere. After waiting for a while, the waiter finally took the longest time to get to our table. The other two, possibly siblings, weren't doing anything when one of them had to bust his butt. That was at a non peak hour and the restaurant was pretty empty. This time around we didn't get seaweed soup. I thought it was because they were trying to cut back on costs, but then I see a table with a larger party being served the soup. What?! I don't really like the soup but I at least I like to eat the seaweed. The kim chee tastes kind of like pickles. It is not spicy at all. The daikon is good though but the amount you get is so little. When the food came out the meat Jun was kind of burnt and the chicken looked a little pink on the inside. Luckily my stomach held up. The restaurant is so old, it really does need an overhaul. The carpet and booths have looked the same from when I was a kid when my parents would take me to eat there. The carpet is beyond nasty. And to end, I also ordered take out when I ordered my food. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes after we finished eating before our take out was ready. And also we didn't get any water refills. We had dinner here a few nights ago. We were greeted and then seated by one of the waitresses. The second waitress who took our order was the man who sat behind the counter's daughter. It's probably family ran. It was a very casual hole in the wall atmosphere. Ordered the meat jun, fish hun, zucchini jun, my husband ordered the kalbi, meat jun, bbq chicken and we shared it family style. Our kids loved the meat jun. I found that the food were real greasy. Also tasted like they fried the meat jun in the same oil used all day. You can also tell by the way it looked. Real dark colored. Maybe a tad over cooked but you can tell the oil was reused several times. Zucchini jun and fish jun was good. A bit too greasy for my liking, but it was good. The Kalbi was a bit dry and bbq chicken also dry and had the taste of charred grill. Which is good if it was just hints of it not in every bite. But this was what it tasted like ... every bite. The ban Chan was ok. The Potatoe salad was what stood out. Their sauce was good too. We'll try again another day hopefully there'll be a different cook. read more

We came here with a group of friends after a beach day, and two of our friends got seated before us. Once we were all seated, the server took about eight minutes until he finally approached us. There were only about four other tables that were seated in the restaurant, all which had food already, so I was surprised that the service was so slow. There were six of us so each pair shared a plate of food. Me and my boyfriend got the chicken katsu & meat jun plate for $10.90, which was not bad at all. It came with cabbage, bean sprouts, and seaweed, along with seaweed soup and some kimchee as starters. The chicken katsu was unexpectedly pretty good. They were cut into thin pieces which made them crispier and easier to eat than most Korean places. The plate and a bowl of rice filled both of us up. I used to frequent Kim Chee II but this time was the first time after COVID. First of all, the owner dude and another worker/owner weren't wearing masks. OK, fine, but can't you put one on when you're taking my order? Second, all the food was overcooked/fried. The katsu was hard as a rock and tasted of old oil. The meat juhn was dry and chewy. There was a lot of fat on the meat juhn beef as well. Lastly, there was a bug in the kim chee!!! Not a small ant, it looked like a roach or termite. It was starting to decompose in between the cabbage leaves. Lost my appetite at that point. Great family restaurant. Really cool to see so many traditional Korean decorations that is really hard to find. Portions were good, and taste was amazing! We had the BBQ beef, BBQ chicken, Meat Jun, and fried Mango. All of them were super good! I love that they give free Seaweed Soup. They have plenty of parking space. You do have to pay for parking but it was only $1.50. I'd rather pay for parking than having to circle around the block over and over. Service was efficient and we didn't have to wait at all. This is a go-to Korean restaurant right in the heart of town! My family loves the LA Kalbi or the big bone Kalbi. One of our favorites is the tonkatsu and mandoo. Whenever we need a Korean food fix we are sure to hit up Kim Chee II. The staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable and the portions are perfect to do family style sharing. We came here with a party of 18 and the restaurant easily accommodated our group. Parking is a little challenging during prime time dinner slots, but you're almost always able to find a stall in the paid lot. One of my favorites is the dinner special which is a sure fire hit. Our go to spot for delicious local Korean food! Had some friends over and wanted it keep it simple (no dishes and minimal clean up) so ordered take out. My favorite is the mixed plate as you get a little bit of everything including one piece big bone kalbi. The spicy pork has lots of sauce which my friend loves. And leftovers will make a great fried rice! Side order dried radish almost a must have when we order. There's two in our group that absolutely love it so we get them their own container. They even checked with the kitchen to make sure the order could be ready at my desired time of pick up. They even offered help to my car as it was a bigger order with multiple things to carry. It's a hole in the wall and the place looks run down but it has the great mom and pop vibe that I enjoy. As the 3 of us needed a place to have a quick lunch, we thought about stopping by Kim Chee II as we haven't been there in a while and thought, "Who doesn't like Korean food?" We entered through the back/parking lot and was told we could seat anywhere. It was quite empty at noon. Soon after, a young man delivered our menus, waters and walked away. A young lady was seated 3 booths away making homemade mandoo- yumm! Soon after, I came to the realization that this must be a family joined business. We ordered the food, appetizers came shortly after and the food arrived in about 15 minutes. We ordered kalbi, mandoo, chicken, etc. The portions were very satisfying.
