Kim Hong Eggrolls is THE Iconic egg roll place in Westminster. We were so lucky to find them during the covid pandemic and have been visiting ever since. They are the nicest people. The food is always the same, so good! You have to drive around to the back, there is parking and just go to the door and order what you want. Then they cook them and off you go. But on this particular occasion we just decided to sit in the car and dig in. They are so good when they are still so hot! We ordered the pork, shrimp and crab ones along with shrimp ones. The shrimp ones are large prawns by themselves and were absolutely amazing! We had never ordered them before. So glad we did. Kim Hong is a must try and the price can't be beat. read more

This place popped up on one of my feeds and I had to give them a try. I love Vietnamese egg rolls. The place is really small including the parking. You order at the back door and wait at the table for your number to be called. Everything is to go. I ordered ten of their popular crab, shrimp,and pork egg rolls. In no time I had my foot and was on my way. I didn't make it out of the parking lot before I tore into my food. There were only two left when I got to work. Not all nine offerings were available but they still had four. The oxymoronic Jumbo Shrimp , the Shrimp Crab & Pork, the Pork & Taro and Shrimp and Pork. Parking lit is small and it fills quickly, and when I went on Saturday around 4 pm, almost everything was sold out.. they only had #2, #5 and #9. I did buy the sauce and it was really good. I kept the left over in the fridge for a few days and airfried them again and yet they were still crunchy. Must be the baking soda or something that they used to make the crunch so delicious. After reading all sorts of good things about this place, decided I had to give it a try. I went during the week, and the process is quick and easy. (Also easily found parking, but can see where that might be an issue during busier times.) I wanted a couple different eggroll flavors, and was told to get the #1 and the #9. Not sure if they were the best or not, but they WERE quite good. (One thing Southern California is blessed with is a wide variety of Asian food.) I love a good hole in the wall and this is certainly a door in the back. It feels like you're parking in the back of someone's home as the restaurant is located in a what appears to look like a single family dwelling. That day we went they had only three choices for egg rolls and that was okay because I was there to try the pork,shrimp and crab. I ate one immediately after back to my car with the fish sauce I bought on the side. The size of each eggroll is substantial. Each one has a nice weight to it. She's direct and quick but not too mean. She persuaded me to order #1 so I ended up placing 10 of that along with 10 pork and taro. I did have to wait a bit to pick up. The egg rolls are a bit greasy and thinner than what I'm used to but overall taste was a bit above average. I couldn't really taste the crab, same with the other I couldn't taste the taro. (Not sure if they still sell them) Yes, the eggrolls were delicious and fresh, crispy and I can see why they blew up on social media over the years. I've been buying from Kim and her staff ( an older Auntie). I haven't stop by for a few months and now I couldn't get any the last 2 times I've stopped by. They recently changed their time of Operation and closes significant earlier at 6pm instead of 9pm. I used to just walk up as late as 7pm and they had plenty of eggrolls. They just take out from freezer and fried them foe customers. Now you have to call in advance.. and they also sell out early! I stopped by Sunday at 2:00pm, there was a short line. A young lady said they are sold OUT OF eggrolls for the day and the rest are for phone orders pick up. Where is Kim and the aunty? I didn't see them anymore. So disheartening to write this because this used to be one of my go-to spots. I stopped by (or tried to) on a Tuesday around 8:30am, and was told they only had a couple items available -- basically just the premium option and rocket shrimp. I've never had an issue before ordering what I actually wanted (shrimp & pork and chicken egg rolls), so this was surprising and frustrating. What made it worse was the customer service. I called ahead like I always used to, and was met with a really rude interaction -- I was cut off, told to "just come to the window and order" and then hung up on. I even tried speaking Vietnamese to make things easier, but it didn't change the tone at all. It honestly feels like the shop hasn't adjusted well to the TikTok popularity. What used to be a friendly, easy experience with a full menu now feels limited and rushed -- almost like customers are being pushed toward only the higher-priced items. I really hope they find a way to bring back the consistency and service that made people from the local community love them in the first place.
