MAMA HIEU KNOWS WHAT SHES DOING !!! Every time I come visit Cali, we always cater to our parties and she does not miss every time. We always order the Fish Sauce Wings Party Tray and Shrimp Garlic Noodles. Everybody talks about the wings but oh baby those noodles?!? Killer. They are so flavorful and the shrimp is cooked perfectly. This is the type of food you don't forget. Thank you Mama Hieu for the delicious food every time !

Had a good experience at Mama Hieu. The food was flavorful, fresh, and had that comforting homemade taste. The service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. A solid spot with tasty dishes, and I'd come back to try more of the menu.

I came here on the weekend and there were plenty of seats. The server was quick with my order and food came out fast. I got the fish glazed wings (mild) with rice and spicy garlic wings with a side of garlic noodles. The wings were made fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the fish glazed wings the best. Definitely will be back for more wings and the Wednesday wings deal!

Andy's special wings! $8 for 8 wings on Wednesday! Yum!

I love their second location even more cause it's super close to me. Actually both locations were close. Great locations they picked out! I love their wings but I haven't tried their new collaboration with Andy for their house special wings! I was able to try it on their Wings Wednesday for $1 per piece! I got their 8 pcs and boy was it yummy!! Love the crispiness and the flavor for house special was spot on. Can't go wrong with any of their flavors actually! Fish sauce wings are their OG for a reason! So delicious!! Gotta try them out! Love their box! We usually get their party tray for the holidays or events since it's so delicious! Can't go wrong with them! Check them out on Wednesday for $1 per piece!!

I got some take out here. I got 4 pieces of the spicy garlic chicken, 4 pieces of fish sauce chicken, 1 tater tots side. There was A LOT of tater tots in the box. I tried all the sauces as well. The mama hieu sauce is honestly not bad, pretty tasty. I felt like the chicken was not great though. I couldnt tell the flavors of the 2 types that I got well; they just tasted about the same... The spicy chicken was not spicy at all. The tator tots were a bit better than the chicken, though it felt really heavy eating it. The people there almost forgot to give me the tator tots (granted I saw 2 boxes in the bag and thought it was everything so its partly my fault too). My review is mostly taste related, I wouldnt say I love the food but I wouldnt say I hate it either.

Man, where to begin. Easy 5/5 for wings. Crispy, savory and flavorful, not too salty or sweet. I would recommend getting either the salted egg yolk or fish sauce wings as a BOX. There's always leftover sauce to mix in with the rice, and it just makes the rice so pleasant and fragrant. Parking around this area is less difficult than just getting into this plaza from the east side of Garden Grove. Just be careful navigating here. It's a small place to eat at, so I would recommend that you come in a small group or just take it to go. The wings stay crispy so you're chillin

Wow this place genuinely was such a pleasant surprise. We had heard about the one in westminster and wanted to try and saw that there was this one in garden grove! THE WINGS!!! I love ny korean fried chicken but man the flavors on these were better than most korean fried chicken flavors... The salted egg yolk one was good, I've had this flavor before at another chinese restaurant, but it wad ny first time trying wings with the chili fish sauce flavor profile. That was my favorite. Wish I got it spicy instead of medium!! It's honestly worth getting the box because the rice mixed with the sauce of the wings is soo good! Also so glad we didn't skip out on the fries. They're the same style and kind as Kicking Crab's cajun fries which we loooove. And for the price, it's a decent amount of food. So glad we decided to randomly try this place and will most definitely be back!!!

This place is fantastic ! I was greeted and welcomed as soon as I pulled on th door by the lady behind the counter! She is very friendly. He asked if it was our first time and explained the menu. What was suppose to be a snacked turned into dinner. We ordered the 5pc shrimp house box, 24 wings and the shrimp burger. Shrimp burger- breading was very crunchy and the shrimp patty was very flavorful. It reminded me of chao tom. Spicy garlic wings - exterior was very crunchy. Looks like the breading had paprika wkth garlic on top. Fish glaze wings - crunchy exterior. The fish sauce was very light with Thai chili peppers. The lemon overpowered the fish sauce. Shrimp- I don't try it but my buddy said it was really good. Parking was pretty easy. Friendly stafff, definitely brining the family when I come back in May when we go to Disneyland again

    Truffle parm tater tots
    Vivian T.

I tried this after having a great experience with their catering at the Westminster location. The space is really clean, even though it's in a not-so-great plaza. There are group tables and tables for two, and parking is easy. The staff was friendly. Like their other location, the truffle parm tots were super fresh and crispy. The truffle aroma and flavor are intense. However, these tots were oddly too oily- it actually seeped out when I bit into them, and there was an oily aftertaste. The salted egg yolk wings were crunchy and meaty. Since the seasoning was a bit moist, the salted egg yolk flavor didn't come through as much as I'd hoped. Since they just opened, I'd still give this location another try

No wait time + ample parking + friendly service! We got the original garlic and spicy garlic wings, both of which were crisp, hot, and delicious! Recommend trying. :)

ORDERS: - Fish Sauce Wings House Box - 8 wings (1/2 Spicy Garlic, 1/2 Egg Yolk) - Garlic Noodles - Truffle Fries Chicken amazing!! Flavorful!! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The perfect wings! The fries were delicious and crunchy. I love how well the truffle comes out. The garlic noodle is a basic essential so buttery!! They just opened for soft opening so please come visit and support them!

24 Wings - Andy's special & spicy garlic butter side
    Annie W.

I ordered 24 wings tray with half spicy garlic butter and half Andy's special. The spicy garlic butter side was a HUGE disappointment as it was extremely salty, not spicy, and you can't taste the garlic butter under the thick layer of salt. I enjoyed Andy's special more which was the garlic ginger scallion sauce on those Asian lobster dishes, except the wings on this side were soggy and not crispy at all. On the bright side, the wings were juicy on the inside. I had bookmarked this spot for so long, but just overall disappointed in the experience.

Happy to say I was one of the first customers when they first started their business from home. When they opened their first store in Bolsa, I was really happy for them ~ but also a little sad because it was farther from me (LOL). Anyway, when I found out they opened their second location in Garden Grove, I was so excited! This place is also much bigger than the first one. The service is fast, and the food is great as always. Definitely happy to see their business continue to grow and succeed.

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!

Be prepared: this place is incredibly popular, especially during peak hours. Parking can definitely be challenging because of how busy it is. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move.
