They were still in the soft opening phase so they were getting the ropes of things and were in training. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. I tried this after having a great experience with their catering at the Westminster location. The space is really clean, even though it's in a not-so-great plaza. There are group tables and tables for two, and parking is easy. The staff was friendly. Like their other location, the truffle parm tots were super fresh and crispy. The truffle aroma and flavor are intense. However, these tots were oddly too oily- it actually seeped out when I bit into them, and there was an oily aftertaste. The salted egg yolk wings were crunchy and meaty. Since the seasoning was a bit moist, the salted egg yolk flavor didn't come through as much as I'd hoped. Love to see how this small business has flourished! My husband first had their wings before their first brick and mortar store, and this second store is a great addition :) I've only had the original and the spicy garlic, but both are packed with such amazing flavor and the wings come out so crispy and juicy! Their house box (which comes with 7 pieces of wings, 2 generous scoops of rice, and a side of pickled veggies) is such a great deal and I usually am able to split it into two meals, haha. The staff at the front are always so welcoming and friendly and the food comes out fairly quickly as well. There is a decent amount of seating inside the store and plenty of parking in the lot. While the shrimp was made with good quality seafood, both dishes were extremely bland. The batter had a bit of flavor, but the chicken and shrimp themselves were tasteless and very oily. To top it off, the garlic sauce was overpowering--so much so that it completely dominated the dish and left everything tasting of raw garlic. Sadly, I felt pretty unwell afterward. It's so nice to see the expansion from the neighborhood to a restaurant. The menu has also expanded. We ordered the original garlic which is still our favorite!! The chicken wasn't dry and the piece of chicken was huge with a good amount of spice. The service was amazing as well and they were super attentive. I've seen Mama Hieu's on social media and finally had the opportunity to try them during my day trip to OC. Oh my goodness the spicy shrimp plate is sooo delicious! The shrimp is big, juicy, plump and perfectly cooked. The batter is thick but so crispy and flavorful. It's spicy but not overbearing. The pickled veggies and creamy sauce complement the dish so well. This is the best shrimp I've had in a while! I came on a weekday early lunch time and it was empty as they're doing a soft opening but they got me in and out with a fresh cooked to order meal within 8 minutes . Food was still good and consistent to their original location. Food is definitely on the pricier side (cheap -- if you have the CA economic eyes) food was still worth it. Albeit, would love it if the spicy garlic butter dry rub would actually stick a little more to the chicken and I don't have to take a bite of the chicken and lick a bit of rub. My husband and I came in around the 6:00pm hour on a Friday to have dinner. Ordered the 20 piece family pack. The young female working the tablet register was nice taking our order. After we seated ourselves to wait for our order to complete I was watching the young man just behind where the register is, separating the raw noodles to the correct portion size and weighing them prior to having the noodles cooked. What I did NOT like seeing was the black vinyl gloves he was wearing to touch the raw noodles with, as he then reached over to where the online tablet was and started to push with his gloved hand he was previously touching the noodles with, touching the tablet to what I'm guessing to see incoming orders coming in on. He typed something with his black glove onto the tablet and immediately after began touching the noodles with the same black glove he had on and did NOT remove it and change gloves after using the tablet. From here on I wasn't about to touch any noodles with our order. We ate our chicken wings which some were not that hot basically warm and a couple I ate were either warmer or a little bit hotter than the ones previously ate. The shoestrings fries with the family pack is similar to McDonald's fries, nothing to rave about. Later on, after about a couple of hours after eating the chicken wings my stomach had the worst gas pains. I'm sure it's from whatever cooking oil that was used. After watching the gentleman preparing the noodles with the same gloves that he used to touch the online computer tablet I was appalled and knew I wouldn't be coming back. Management needs to teach these younger adults the proper etiquette of handling food and what not to touch, but what I saw was definitely uncalled for and carelessness. Later observing the girl working the register, who was also going back and forth, next to the assembly line which looked like she was assisting, but I hope she wasn't touching any food like the other male co-worker was doing bcz she wore the same black gloves, touching the register tablet and later wiping down tables and chairs and trash cans with the same gloves on without changing into new gloves.
