Ive been coming here with my family since I was a toddler, and after all these years, it's still my favorite pho spot and hands down #1 pho restaurant in Cali. The consistency here is incredible. On my last visit, I ordered a small Pho Tai with an order of oxtail on the side. The broth was everything a great pho broth should be. Beefy and full of flavor tasting like it's been simmered for hours with beef bones. Every sip was delicious and comforting. And the oxtail... It was juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection. The meat practically fell right off the bone and paired perfectly with the pho. Every bite reminded me why I keep on coming back. Not the biggest fan of the small, tight parking lot, but we got lucky and found a spot pretty quickly. The broth had great depth of flavor, and the noodles were cooked perfectly, exactly what you want in a comforting bowl of pho. However, the oxtail I ordered didn't live up to the same standard. There's a decent sized parking lot in the back, so I've never had trouble finding parking. The service is fast and efficient. They typically have your pho on the table for you within 5 minutes of ordering. I also love that they have 3 sizes of pho to choose from. Arguably one of the best pho places in my opinion. I think this place is older than I am, because I've been coming here since I was a baby! Over all those years, they have never disappointed me and continue to serve really good food. I usually get the beef brisket pho and it's really good. The noodles are just the right texture, the broth is clean and flavorful, and the meat tastes fresh and tender. Their dui bo is also very good, but usually runs out after 1:00 or 2:00 pm, since they only have a limited amount of this item every day. The meat is fall off the bone tender and has a more fatty flavor to it. It usually sits in some broth that absorbs that beefy and fatty flavor from the bone. A great addition to any bowl of pho. Alternatively, I sometimes also get the bun thit nuong and it's very good. The eggrolls it comes with is wrapped with rice paper, so when it's fried up, it has such a satisfying crunch and texture to it. The thit nuong is has a nice smokey, grilled flavor to it. The shrimps are okay as well. This is a very satisfying and filling dish, so if you're looking for a high volume dish, this may be the one to get. Expect long lines during peak hours. I can confirm though that the wait is worth it! Service is always very good. The ambiance on the inside is fine, very plain and unassuming in my opinion. For the price, they're genuinely generous with the oxtail. You get real, fall-off-the-bone pieces, not just scraps. Service is fast, no-frills, and the portions are huge. It's busy for a reason. They even won a James Beard America's Classics award in 2019, which obviously isn't a Vietnamese endorsement either, but it does speak to how many people connect with this spot. The meat in the combo bowl i ordered was tender but a bit flavorless, even the fatty pieces. Veggies fresh as ever, just wish it had a bit more onion. No chili oil just sriracha and hoisin on the table (maybe i needed to request it?) Definitely worth the price, and optimal they have S/M/L sizing options. While their pho is not vegan, it seems possible for a vegan diner to order vermicelli noodles without broth and add tofu. THIS IS THE PHO BOWL TO TRY. (Their other stuff equally delicious, too!) Got the Pho Dac Biet, the broth is still the reason you come here. It's that lighter southern-style broth -- super clean, super flavorful, sweet, not heavy or muddy. You get those small oil bubbles sitting on top doing just enough, not trying to coat your entire existence. All the meats were solid! Tender, flavorful and plentiful the majority of time here. The tendon especially -- straight up melt-in-your-mouth-every-single time! The consistency is ridiculous tbh. I get mine with a side of onions, sate, green onion oil (new?) and mixed with hoisin + sriracha as a dip. I keep the sauces separate from the pho bowl since I enjoy having different bites. Broth, without broth, spoon some sauce mixed with broth etc etc. Remember, there's no wrong way enjoy pho! Service is fast and friendly -- pho came out in under 2 minutes this visit. Instead of helping resolve the issue, staff insisted that we had placed the order incorrectly and expected us to keep and eat the wrong meal. We also ordered an appetizer of spring rolls. The spring rolls came out first (only 2) and I noticed it had a barbecued meat as well as shrimp. It was really good. My daughter ended up eating a whole one and my son and I split the second. The peanut sauce was good too. Our phở came out quickly, too. I thought it was awesome to have 3 different sized bowls. The small ones were perfect for my nieces (7 and 10) and the medium were perfect for my dad, 19 year old nice and myself. The large was perfect for my 18-year old son. The meat to noodles ratio was actually better than most places we have been to. The broth tasted great - flavorful and hot. We added all the veggies and it makes me sad when we don't finish them all. Came to Garden Grove before 10am and thought I was going to have a hard time finding things to eat. But a quick Yelp search and it seems the pho shop I've been meaning to try was opened! In fact, they opened at 7am! I guess it makes a lot of sense since pho was eaten as breakfast when I visited Vietnam. The great thing coming so early? No wait - I just walked right in and got helped right away. According to the staff, the most popular pho was the #33, the Special. Apparently, #32 is the same #33 but it is the medium sized version ($15) of the large ($18.25). After you decide on which pho, the only other questions to answer is whether or not you want raw sliced onions and bean sprouts (cooked or uncooked). I was intending to try the oxtail soup everyone's been raving about. However, I was told there is no oxtail soup till noon. The pho was great, definitely on top with the many places I've tried such as Pholic. The beef in the pho was not fatty, but it wasn't dry. The tripe had a good crunch. The tendon was not too chewy.
