I decided to try this pho spot because I was in the area and it had consistently glowing reviews. The parking lot was nearly full, and every table inside was occupied, so I added my name to the waitlist. To my surprise, I was seated in about five minutes. I ordered the Medium Rare Steak Pho with small noodles and was impressed by how quickly it arrived. The pho was delicious overall. The noodles were slightly overcooked and softer than I prefer, but the broth was rich and flavorful, and the steak was fresh and good quality. The fresh bean sprouts, green onions, jalapeños and basil were a nice touch and elevated the meal. Up until I was getting ready to leave, I would have rated both the food and my overall experience a 9.5/10. Unfortunately, everything changed because of an interaction I witnessed between a manager and a busser. As the busser (an older Hispanic man) was cleaning the table next to me, the manager (a Vietnamese man wearing glasses) repeatedly yelled in his face, shouting, "Who's the manager?!" several times. He then appeared to mock the employee's limited English by imitating his Spanish accent. Watching an employee be publicly humiliated in front of a full dining room was disturbing and unprofessional. Moments later, the manager threw an empty bowl from across the restaurant into the busser's cleaning cart. Although the bowl appeared to be empty, the act itself was aggressive and alarming. It easily could have struck someone or escalated the situation further. The food deserves high marks, but no employee should be treated that way, especially in front of customers. Witnessing that interaction completely changed my impression of the restaurant and overshadowed what had otherwise been an excellent meal. read more

The portions will definitely leave your stomach upended after every meal here :) One of the things we got differently this time is actually one of the rice dishes with pork tenderloin and pork. Pho 101 is the sister restaurant to Pho 79 and run by their children, the next generation. As such, it's pretty much the more glamorous, hipper version to their parent's restaurant. Quality has not dropped off though, the soup being just as fragrant and flavorful as its counterpart. There is a little more customization here with the ability to select either a medium ($14.25) or large ($17.50) bowl of pho and then add up to 4 different proteins. They absolutely do not skimp on the protein allotment either. Your best value is to order a large and split it amongst 2 people -- this is the way! Pho 101 in Westminster is honestly really good. I got the brisket pho and the broth was rich and flavorful, you can tell it's been cooking for a while. The brisket was tender and the portion was more than enough to fill you up. It was pretty busy when I went but the line moved faster than I expected so the wait wasn't bad at all. This place is so legit! We stopped by Pho 101 on a Sunday afternoon. There was no line and plenty of open tables. This plates had really legit dishes. I really liked the bun thit nuong but I would've preferred it in a plate and not a bowl to make it easier to eat. The service was good! The server made sure to stop by a few times to make sure we didn't need anything. I also got a Vietnamese coffee, of course, and it was great. Sometimes I find that Vietnamese coffee can be a little bit, bitter, even with the condensed milk but this place got the sweetness right! Pho 101 is one of my go-to places. Whenever I'm at a pho place I always get their pho dac biet. I can't choose what beef protein I want, so I just get a little bit of everything. The broth is always perfect here. Not too bland and not too salty. Just the way I like it. Also, I don't feel like I have to use the hoisin and siracha to add to the perfect broth. I really appreciate the soft and tenderness of the meats here. Like, a LOT. It's probably the best all around bowl I've had around here by far. The noodles are also what I've been dreaming of since 79 stopped making it this way. They are chewy and delicious (I get the thin noodles), the broth is also very delicious and layered in flavor. We came here to celebrate a family birthday. They take reservations and we were seated quickly. The restaurant was busy in the best way, which is always a good sign. It has a large space with plenty of tables. Our waiter, Long, was attentive and friendly, and he made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing. You can customize your bowl with the meats you like, and the meat was cooked perfectly in the flavorful broth. The restaurant itself is very modern and clean, making for a nice ambiance. For food, we got two Pho bowls, and you can choose what meats go on it. It came with a side of veggies, but we didn't like that. It only came with one plate instead of one for each bowl. We also got the vermicelli and rice dishes, and opted to choose Char-Broiled pork, egg rolls, and egg meatloaf for the toppings. Toppings. Everything was delicious, especially the egg rolls which were perfectly fried and still hot when we got them. The rice dish was regular rice, but I would have preferred the traditional broken rice. Service was great, as everyone from the host to the cashier to the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. The only con about this place is the parking situation! They never have enough parking for the amount of patrons that come here, so we had to circle around a bit until someone else left. I've become a regular at Pho 101, and I always have a lovely experience. As you walk up to the entrance, you're warmly greeted by the rich aroma of broth simmering from inside! I've always been seated quickly, with kind and attentive service. Even during busier hours, it has a calming ambiance. Inside is always neat with each table fully stocked. Found out that Pho 101 was Pho 79's second location so we added this to our list and finally had a chance to try it out! It's located across the street from Bella Terra in Huntington Beach with a decent sized parking lot but we came here for lunch around 11:30 so it wasn't too crazy busy. Lots of seats to choose from and the interior had a modern feel which is great to attract a variety of audiences! FOOD Pho Dac Biet Both my girlfriend and I had the same bowl but I always tend to add more sriracha in mine for the extra spice! Broth is pretty on point, it was very rich in flavor that compliments the abundance of rice noodle and toppings. Regular bowl will surely get you full but if you're starving I'd probably recommend getting a large bowl!
