Pho 101 is the sister restaurant to Pho 79 and run by their children, the next generation. As such, it's pretty much the more glamorous, hipper version to their parent's restaurant. Quality has not dropped off though, the soup being just as fragrant and flavorful as its counterpart. There is a little more customization here with the ability to select either a medium ($14.25) or large ($17.50) bowl of pho and then add up to 4 different proteins. They absolutely do not skimp on the protein allotment either. Your best value is to order a large and split it amongst 2 people -- this is the way! They also have rice/ com dishes (NOT broken rice) and vermicelli noodles as the other main entree items. I think stick with the pho though!
Service is good. It's a good place to have a quick pho stop off Huntington blvd exit on the 405. The food is good - but not so authentic. It's more modern Vietnamese / American dishes. The pho broth was ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't oh so good either. The place was nice and modern. The only thing I notice was the floor was sticky. Otherwise, not bad.

Service was fast and accommodating. Me and my friend thought we were going to wait a while as there was many people waiting inside and outside but we got lucky and got sat right away. We shared a large bowl and it was just the right amount for the both of us. The restaurant was spacious with many tables. The only downside I would say is the parking. I imagine if the plaza was super busy, the parking could be a nightmare. Still wouldn't stop me from coming though!

The pork chops were yummy. The main star of the night was definitely the chicken pho. I was sick and I desperately needed a chicken soup. I was excited to see an egg and the skin on my chicken. They also gave me a side of ginger with garlic and onion to die for. I had a hot tea as well and when I say I felt cured after eating all of that, I mean it. Whenever I feel like I'm about to start getting sick, I will come here and eat the same thing. It was a cure and I want the world to know!
Solid place for pho. The interior just feels very welcoming and clean, I like it. Lots of greenery and the tables are nice and modern. I typically get the brisket pho, the portions here are amazing. You can add up to 4 meats for $15 and that means I can get 4 servings of brisket. LOTS of noodles. At the end, just go up and pay at the counter, so pretty self sufficient in terms of service. Food comes out fast even during lunch rush!!

I really liked the bun thit nuong but I would've preferred it in a plate and not a bowl to make it easier to eat. The service was good! The server made sure to stop by a few times to make sure we didn't need anything. I also got a Vietnamese coffee, of course, and it was great. Sometimes I find that Vietnamese coffee can be a little bit, bitter, even with the condensed milk but this place got the sweetness right! It wasn't too loud because it is a spacious restaurant which I really appreciated. The restaurant is nice and clean. I definitely will be back.
Stopped by Pho 101 and was immediately impressed by the modern, airy interior - complete with wood booths, industrial lighting, and hanging plants. This place is noticeably cleaner and more polished than your typical pho spot. The pho broth here is the real star. Rich, aromatic, and packed with traditional spices like star anise and cinnamon, it's incredibly flavorful without needing to add much. I went with a combination bowl and the portion was massive - even the small size feels generous. The noodles had that perfect bouncy texture and the beef quality was excellent. Also tried the fresh spring rolls which came with a delicious peanut sauce and were packed with shrimp, pork and fresh vegetables. Light and refreshing! Service was attentive with servers frequently checking in and refilling drinks. There can be a wait during peak hours since it's popular, but it moves quickly. If you're craving authentic Vietnamese pho in a clean, comfortable setting, Pho 101 delivers.
The Pho and Bun are my go-to's at this joint. There are one of three places that I have pho at. The broth, veggies, and meat are so good! And of course you gotta get the egg rolls, and wrap them up with lettuce and dip it in the fish sauce. But I do crave me a Bun as well from here. It's so good and packed with fresh ingredients and protein. The food is prepared fast and is delicious every time. Plenty of seating and parking. Thank you Pho 101!
Pho 101 never disappoints. We've come here time and time again, and the flavors are always delicious. The portions will definitely leave your stomach upended after every meal here :) One of the things we got differently this time is actually one of the rice dishes with pork tenderloin and pork. It was really delicious, super flavorful, but not the traditional com tham that we're used to over at other com tham rrestaurants. It isn't made with broken rice, but still will fill your belly with delicious flavors. Highly recommend their pho with some pickled onions on the side, and if you're looking for the best combo for your large pho, I simply go for 1-4! read more

I often watch YouTube channels that showcase delicious food, and that is how I discovered Pho 101. Indeed, this place embodies the very soul of Vietnamese pho; the broth isn't overloaded with rock sugar, deriving its natural sweetness instead from bones that have been meticulously simmered for hours. It is also very affordable; I purchased three large portions and found the price to be extremely reasonable compared to the area where I live. Thank you to that YouTube channel! Lunch at Pho 101 in Huntington Beach. Super tasty and packed with flavor. The broth was rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. After trying many pho spots around Orange County, this one stands out as one of the very best. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving a great bowl of pho. read more

Ideally I'd give this place a 3.5! I was in the mood for pho and this place is near me and I always drive by. My boyfriend and I visited on a Sunday night and there was no wait to be seated. Clean restaurant and lots of tables! Service was quick and friendly. I got their beef brisket pho option and my boyfriend got their bbq pork vermacelli bowl. The portions are HUGE compared to what I usually get at other restaurants! Very good meal, I've had better broth but it's definitely a solid pho option. Really enjoyed our visit here! Originally, we were trying to go to Pho 79. But when we got there, we saw it was swarming with people and left immediately for their sister restaurant. Ordered pho and picked our 4 meats. My favorite was the fatty brisket. So so good! They give a generous amount of meat. They don't skimp on the veggie platter either. Lots of big fresh leaves and good amount of bean sprouts. Noodle was soft but chewy and broth was yummy! Overall, will add Pho 101 to our pho rotation! Toppings were not skimped upon, broth light comfort taste, accompanied with Thai basil bean sprouts jalapeño limes Large bowl can look intimidating but of course very shareable but surprisingly did not feel super stuff after consuming. Noodles were cooked well and maintain its form and bite. Tendon tripe maintain its form and taste as is in its natural state. The salted plum drink was a unique taste of sweet tart and bites of the plum itself with sugar on the bottom Oxtail: super tender! the broth from that was a bit more flavorful - everything fell off the bone and there was not a lot of fat and it was not stringy .. totally hit the spot of comfort! Pho 101 is one of my go-to places. Whenever I'm at a pho place I always get their pho dac biet. I can't choose what beef protein I want, so I just get a little bit of everything. The broth is always perfect here. Not too bland and not too salty. Just the way I like it. Also, I don't feel like I have to use the hoisin and siracha to add to the perfect broth. I also love the fact that they hook it up with the veggies. Some place, I feel, don't give you enough. Service is always great and the place was nice a clean like always. I'll come back for a bowl of pho dac biet whenever I'm in the area. read more
Not sure if it was because this was my first Asian meal once I came back from Mexico, or because it was sooo good! I really liked the way their menu was for the pho, kind of like a create your own style. The medium was like a large to me, had to to-go about half of it. I really appreciate the soft and tenderness of the meats here. Like, a LOT. It's probably the best all around bowl I've had around here by far. The noodles are also what I've been dreaming of since 79 stopped making it this way. They are chewy and delicious (I get the thin noodles), the broth is also very delicious and layered in flavor. Surprisingly enough, the rice and chicken dish here is also very good. It comes with a side salad pictured in my photos and is a very well rounded meal if you're craving rice. Expert level: you can add a fried egg to the rice dish for a tiny extra cost. Service is quick, and the servers are very attentive and on their toes. We came here to celebrate a family birthday. They take reservations and we were seated quickly. The restaurant was busy in the best way, which is always a good sign. It has a large space with plenty of tables. Our waiter, Long, was attentive and friendly, and he made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing. You can customize your bowl with the meats you like, and the meat was cooked perfectly in the flavorful broth. The broth had great depth and was not too salty, which can sometimes be an issue with pho. The egg roll appetizers were delicious, especially with the fish sauce and fresh vegetables. The tofu spring rolls were also a great vegetarian option. I will definitely come back here again for my pho fix. read more

I've become a regular at Pho 101, and I always have a lovely experience. As you walk up to the entrance, you're warmly greeted by the rich aroma of broth simmering from inside! I've always been seated quickly, with kind and attentive service. Even during busier hours, it has a calming ambiance. Inside is always neat with each table fully stocked. The floral decor is also sweet. ^_^ Ordered : Charbroiled Pork chops ($14.25) It comes with two pork chops that are sweet and savory, with rich, melt in your mouth pieces. It's served with a generous portion of rice and a flavorful tiny cup of pho broth which always makes you feel warm and cozy inside. Thai Iced tea ($5.00) - Sweet, yummy, and very creamy. They have big portion sizes and are extremely generous with their fresh herbs and veggies! I would also recommend ordering their complimentary Hot Jasmine Tea, which is my favorite. Pho 101 never disappoints! Came on a Sunday afternoon, and only had to wait about 10 minutes. While it's very busy, the turnover is quick. The restaurant itself is very modern and clean, making for a nice ambiance. For food, we got two Pho bowls, and you can choose what meats go on it. It came with a side of veggies, but we didn't like that. It only came with one plate instead of one for each bowl. We also got the vermicelli and rice dishes, and opted to choose Char-Broiled pork, egg rolls, and egg meatloaf for the toppings. Toppings. Everything was delicious, especially the egg rolls which were perfectly fried and still hot when we got them. The rice dish was regular rice, but I would have preferred the traditional broken rice. Service was great, as everyone from the host to the cashier to the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. The only con about this place is the parking situation! They never have enough parking for the amount of patrons that come here, so we had to circle around a bit until someone else left. Other than that, great place to come for a hearty and delicious meal! read more

I hear a lot of people come here for the Pho. We were famished by the time we arrived after spending time at the beach and getting really grounded this morning. We arrived at 10:30am. We were quickly seated. Looking around the restaurant it was 3/4 full. Our server was attentive. We ordered the egg rolls, the shrimp salad and the medium Pho with beef, meatballs and shrimp. The ingredients were all fresh. My only wish is that it would be a plus if they could have a veggie or mushroom broth option for their Pho. We only ordered those three dishes and we left quite full and fulfilled Definitely will return for the fresh tasting items on the menu. read more

Found out that Pho 101 was Pho 79's second location so we added this to our list and finally had a chance to try it out! It's located across the street from Bella Terra in Huntington Beach with a decent sized parking lot but we came here for lunch around 11:30 so it wasn't too crazy busy. Lots of seats to choose from and the interior had a modern feel which is great to attract a variety of audiences! FOOD Pho Dac Biet Both my girlfriend and I had the same bowl but I always tend to add more sriracha in mine for the extra spice! Broth is pretty on point, it was very rich in flavor that compliments the abundance of rice noodle and toppings. Regular bowl will surely get you full but if you're starving I'd probably recommend getting a large bowl! OVERALL It's great to finally visit and we'll definitely come by again if we're around Huntington Beach feeling Pho! It's always a good way to start the day I feel! Came here for dinner and had the BEST bowl of pho I've had in awhile! Love the newer decor with booths, lot of room and you're not crammed next to your neighbor Ordered the large and it was a massive bowl, 4 toppings rare beef (super tender and not fatty), brisket (super tender with a thin layer of fat, the best I've ever had!), tofu and shrimp was a nice selection of toppings. The broth was super flavorful and piping hot! Only complaint was they were out of egg rolls, on a Sunday night around 6!!! Will definitely be back! read more
Relatively affordable and delicious pho! Pho 101 is located near Bella Terra mall in Huntington, parking lot is small but we went on the earlier side so got a spot easily. Interior is mid size and has booth seatings. For the pho you get to choose 4 types of meats (I got tripe, chicken, shrimp, tofu). ($14) My fiancé got the oxtail ($19). We also shared the shrimp egg rolls ($9). As expected pho and appetizer came out fast. The broth had so much flavor and they are generous with the protein I could barely finish half! Oxtail was flavorful and rich, the egg rolls were stuffed with meat and refreshing with the veggies on the side. Overall solid pho place with good flavor. Would love to try the other meats next time read more
I can see why Pho 101 has high reviews! The pho is reallly good and the medium sized bowl is massive. I absolutely love that you can choose up to 4 different proteins to put into your bowl (I chose double rare steak, well done, and tofu). Service was really friendly and the dining room is fairly large. Decent parking options and right off the freeway. Would definitely come back when I'm in the area! read more

We recently visited Little Saigon and were looking for a great pho restaurant. While comparing reviews, Pho 101 was at the top of the list. We were excited. Upon arriving there was a wait, not uncommon and we did not mind waiting. We were seated within 20 minutes. We both got the traditional pho and an order of the spring rolls. We asked for half the portion of noodles for one of the bowls and extra herbs. After taking our order we never saw our waitress again, not even to pay since you go upfront to do that. Both bowls had a crazy large amount of the noodles. Overall the pho was bland, with watery broth. Very disappointing! We were both impressed with the spring rolls, those were very yummy! Sadly, this place is NOT worth the hype!!! read more

This location has no wait! I loved the free hot tea here. It might be the best tea I've ever had. Ox tail is also excellent. Fried chicken was kinda dry and small portioned. Would skip next time. Pork cutlet was also dry. Egg roll is excellent! read more
Yum Vietnamese food ! We scanned through the menu and funny that my whole group ordered the same thing : 2 item-vermicelli (bun) with pork and egg roll. It's good with large portions , filled with veggies and included fish sauce. This place also has pho and rice dishes, I'm sure they're all satisfying too! read more

Finally made my way to Pho 101 after having it on my list for the longest time. Very excited to try the sister restaurant of Pho 79, which is my favorite pho restaurant in all of SoCal. Different setup here, where you pick a medium or large bowl of pho and pick four meats you want to include. Opted for a medium bowl with rare meat, well cooked brisket, fatty brisket, and meatballs. Also ordered a side of oxtail, because I have to do that every time it's available. This is a great bowl of pho! The broth was very clean, the noodles were on point, and they do not hold back whatsoever on the amount of meat they give you. Oxtail was also great! Two huge oxtails with meat that fell off the bone. Perfect supplement for the bowl of pho. Service was solid as you would expect here. We put in our order and the pho came out quickly. Pay at the front, and they do take credit cards! Pho 101 definitely hits all the notes for great pho! Definitely worth coming here. read more

I think their hours are 9 am to 9 pm every day but they are closed on Tuesdays.
What is the name brand of the chili oil they bring out with the oxtail? It's delicious
The chili sauce is called sate or sa te. I'm pretty sure it's made in house but there are a variety of store brands that you can buy.
As of sept 14 2021 how many outdoor tables do they have and how many does each table seat? About. Does not need to be exact.
We went around Sep. 5th and there were 4 tables under the outdoor tent that can seat 4-7 people per table.
Are the pho bowls plastic or ceramic/porcelain?
I was just there on Saturday and they are the heavy weight plastic - like melamine.
As of may 18 2021 do they have outside dining and about how'many tables?
Hmm, I was there yesterday and there were some tents positioned outside, but their expansion still seems to be in progress, so perhaps they're not ready yet. You can call them tomorrow to confirm when they re-open (closed on Tuesdays)
Mung beans with coconut milk?
It's a great Vietnamese's desert. Should try it at least once and judge for yourself.
Is the vegetable pho completely vegetarian?
The ingredients are, but the broth is made from beef products.
Can you call ahead for a table?
don't think so; your best bet is to go during off-peak hours and you'll be seated immediately. or call in your order for takeout.
Does the oxtail here have the same taste as the one in Pho 79? Is parking better here?
I am not sure about the taste of the oxtail but like both. The parking is better at Pho 101 usually. I love both restaurants and the staff.
Do they run out of oxtail by a certain time like pho 79?
I go once a week late and night and I always see that plate on somebody's table. I think its safe to say they don't but maybe calling ahead will guarantee they haven't run out for that day.
