I came back a few days later to try to resolve it with her, but Julie was the one kind enough to do everything she could to make it better. 5 stars to Julie! She is super super nice and she knows what she's doing! She's been here for about a decade & has even more years than that cutting hair so she knows what she's doing. She knows how to drop fade and make my hair look at its best. All of the ladies here know how to cut hair fast and great, i've tried all of the lady barbers and all of them are amazing. And for $15 you can't go wrong!! Compared to a much much more expensive haircut that i used to get, usually took about 2 hours. Kim P's gets you in and out in less than half an hour but not just that, the haircuts are top tier as well! Any of these wonderful ladies will hook you up with a fresh fade, definitely a hidden gem in the neighbors. Parking is kind of scare, so you might have to park down the street but there is also a gas station/convenience store nearby so you can pick up a snack while you wait if you want. read more

I have been going here for almost 2 years now. Great little place with very pleasant women (all vietnamese I believe). My go to hair stylist is Julie, she is very funny and talkative. She is the one with the best understanidng of english compared to the other ladies so that is why I like to get my hair cut from her. Since I am spending 30 minutes upward to an hour or so I would like to chat and not just quietly sit there all day. Very affordable place, but it gets busy especially during the holidays! read more

I would leave a NO star if it was possible . I came in today asking for a hair cut, showed them a picture , was told it CAN be done .. my hair was almost down to my waist mind you so when I was told this , I felt confident. as soon as they seen the picture the employees started laughing at me making me feel beyond uncomfortable. When they do not know someone's situation or what they are going through laugher should be the last thing they do .. Came here after being referred and had a good experience the first time. My 4 year old got his haircut and we were happy to find a place where prices were reasonable and the ladies were friendly. Came here today and once I got my son in the car, I noticed redness on his neck, not as visible as the moment when we got home. The ladies here are nice, and the customers as well but I wish she would've told me about this incident. Instead she just said "$8" and offered my kids lollipops and that was it. I'm giving it 2 stars because the ladies are friendly and prices are reasonable but this incident and not informing me isn't acceptable. read more

For F**ks sake! I should have taken a few minutes to read the reviews. They butchered my hair to the point I almost agreed to a fade! Telling them to "Trim" apparently means to cut 5-6 inches off!! Ugh, I walked in with my hair up and in a ponytail and left with a butchered head. I was barely able to put my hair up using a hair tie when I left. My hair was banging, but now I look like a straight goofball. I wanted to yell at her so bad!!!!!!! Hair obviously wasn't even trimmed properly as when I went home and showered I had long strands all over the place. All that moron did was comb my hair back and then cut straight across. Is that what they teach you when you get certified or licensed? I mean, I might as well have gone home and put a big pot over my head and cut off the excess. Not professional whatsoever as she did not cut off what I asked for and cut what she felt was right. I left there wearing almost the same length hair as her, and she wants to smile at me? If I was a woman I'd have beat the brakes off of her. I look like an idiot, I feel insecure and above all I lost almost a 1.5years of growing my hair out. I will never ever ever refer anyone here. What I will do is refer people to the various other barbers/salons in the surrounding areas who listen to what you request. Lesson learned, don't let women with boy haircuts cut your hair. Kim, you cater to men with short hair. Tell your employees to stop thinking they are capable of cutting anyone's hair. We, the customers, are not guinea pigs for them to test on. I had to demonstrate great restraint as to not make a scene and mess with your business. This is not the norm for me but when a place deserves praise and recognition I gotta give it to them. Kim and Ivy at Kim P. Beauty Care have been cutting my hair for the past 3 years and will continue to do so until the doors close! In my teen years my very first haircut experience (SUPERCUTS) went horrifically bad....lets just say I asked for a trim and came out looking like Mr. Clean! I vowed never again will I step foot in another hair salon. It wasnt until many years later my wife convinced me to find a hairstylist and give it another try. Her coworker recommended this place and his haircuts where always on point! I decided to give it a shot and made my appointment with Kim per recommendation.....One of the many best decisions I've ever made. I asked for a fade with line up and the end result was exactly what I hoped for. Very professional, friendly and clean environment and the only complaint I have is that the place is always packed and busy, an appointment is a must! All in all if your looking for that hairstyle that looks like a million bucks without breaking the bank give Kim a call or I also recommend Ivey she does an awesome job as well! Worst possible haircut yesterday. They don't listen or pay attention to what you are asking for. It's been hit and miss for some time and unfortunately twice this month it was really bad and that's with different ladies. I come in every week for a clean up but since I got a bald haircut I won't get another haircut for the next month. SMH Kim I thought you were in the business of making money well you lost mine. Asked for a #4 on top and this lady did a 1/2 but it was too late to stop so walked out with a bald haircut she didn't even bother to fade the sides still had to come home and fix it. A few weeks ago they went up so high on the fade it was slightly off from the center. It's embarrassing to walk around with a messed up cut it's shameful to continually pay for bad service. My money is green just like everyone else so please don't rush me from my chair time to get someone else because with these bad cuts your losing your repeat customers. This was our spot for years since it was cheap and local but I will happily pay more somewhere else and drive farther than give these ladies a penny more. Horrible place if you are a women. I was told on the phone a wash and blow dry is $18. When I arrived she said "No, it $30." I drove all this way to be lied to? Very, very rude. I ask how much a men's haircut is and she said $11. I said "You can't do a simple wash and bdry for $20 after I was quoted $18 on the phone?" What a ripoff! I had an older gentleman friend that one of the hairdressers conned into giving her $2,000 -- she totally took advantage of his big heart and generous spirit by giving him a sob story. Got my haircut from Kim herself, and oh boy oh boy, she really knows her way with the razor and scissors. I came here in the afternoon on a Tuesdaaaay, and I'm sure by luck there was only one client in front of her that was already on the barber chair. It wasn't a long wait, I'd say about 15-20 mins. Quite frankly I didn't mind waiting at all, if you want your hair cut right you gotta be patience. When it was my turn Kim was very patient with me, she knew what I want and she understood everything I told her. She even gave me some tips and further notices before she cuts anything. Like I said my dudes, she is super patient and polite with you. Who doesn't like a patient professional polite barber? I don't like no rude "cut whatever I think will look good on you" type of barber. I also don't like rushy barber... Key note: patience is golden for perfect haircuts. The also big plus is that the prices are soooo affordable! :( my normal stylist was off (Betty), so I let Julie cut my hair. I told her I wanted to keep it long and at first it appeared it was going to be that way. When she was done, it still didn't look right, so I asked her for long layers. Apparently long layers means two different lengths on the back of my head! I now have a VERY SMALL amount of long hair in the back, and darn near all the rest is almost to my shoulders and uneven at that. I am so angry at myself for trying someone new. I should have never said long layers to someone who obviously doesn't understand LAYERS and LONG! My hair is going to take YEARS to get back to normal. read more

It's cheap haircut, I'll give it that (thus the 2 stars instead of 1), but I asked for a pretty simple haircut (1 on sides, and leave the top long) and they shaved my whole head military style!!! I won't be returning, but if you do go, be INCREDIBLY CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT!!!! They aren't artists or hairdressers, they're hair cleavers, and butchers. Come here for prices, but don't expect the best haircut. Or for the ladies to even understand what haircut you want. The kids haircuts are $8, men's are $9, and women's are $12. Cheapest I've seen in the area, except for Uptown in Fremont which charges $10 across the board but did a lazy job on my hair. If you're not super specific with what you want for your haircut, they are likely to end up making you look like a fob. And even if you are very specific and bring in a photo and insist on this or that, they are still likely to just do whatever they want. Not sure if it's a language barrier or if they just learned how to cut hair a particular way and can't really adapt to anything else. They are very meticulous though, and I appreciate that. They don't snip snip and send you on your merry way. They also blow dry and style your hair after cutting it, which I'm not that big on because I always have to shower after getting a haircut anyway, what with all the little itchy bits of hair that get stuck to me. read more

My 2 brothers, my cousins and I have been going to Kim P beauty salon since we were kids. Kim herself has been cutting us for years. I can still remember those summers, when Grandma would load me and my brothers into her white 1987 ford crown Victoria, the three of us sitting in the back seat strapped into the blue leather upholstery with the warm Newark Air coming through the windows, riding down cherry street. We've followed Kim from the older shop she worked at next to the then lido market, and now as an adult, I can honestly say I am glad we did. With Kim, you can count on a consistent, clean, professional and precise cut. There are pictures on the wall of many different haircut types, and Kim can skillfully replicate the style nearly to the T; of course, less changing your head shape and skin color... Amazingly, Kim grew her business from 1 chair, to now 7 chairs with stylists that are there every weekend, like clockwork. From just me and my brothers in on a Saturday, to people waiting outside on a Sunday. The growth is undoubtable, and it's gotten to the point that I only go to get a cut on the weekdays, to beat the crowds. One of the highlights of Kim P Salon is the skill level of her staff. All of the ladies here can cut, but there are a few whom I believe are exceptional. Katie, Julie and Betty come to mind first, with Katie leading.
