The facility opened in 1970 and still holds some of the original nostalgia, such as stationary in the room for you to use and actual room keys to unlock the doors, but have done tremendous modern upgrades to keep it stylish & functional! Sitting just moments from Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain Jordan, Pond, and more incredible destinations. It's a great place to stay anytime you're up that way.!!! read more

Kimball Terrace, located on the north side of the harbor- offers many rooms with harbor views and a setting that's only about a five-minute walk to the village. In between the harbor and motel are some nice views of the expansive lush green lawn. With hills in the background rounding out this splendid scene -which I always enjoyed (see the pic attached with this review) it also has a nice outdoor swimming pool (you'll have to catch a very warm day to use the pool, given this is Maine!) and an excellent breakfast-lunch-dinner restaurant that includes patio dining overlooking the harbor. it offers clean, spacious motel rooms, most with a private balcony and a splendid view of the Town's Green and Harbor. When you are at the reception area- you can see its history in photographs. I talked to the receptionist and she was very insightful, telling us how this hotel was renovated. it has its history. Our room was on the ground floor-spacious, with a fridge. Microwave - not permittable as per rule but except that, it has everything. in the morning - what a view it was ... loved it. note: Northeast Harbor is a gem on its own, a quaint little village with some beautiful harbor views and a good mix of friendly little shops and restaurants. do explore the area. read more

Excellent place to stay for the night or a few nights. Rooms were clean. Although they could be updated, it gives a retro vibe which we oddly enough enjoyed. Only thing I would change would be that the showers could be larger. Check out the restaurant next door as well. read more

Check in was terrible, couldn't find us on list. Gave us wrong key so we walked into somebody else's room. Finally get to our room and it's 84, not good after being on bike in sun and 90 all day. Front desk guy checks it and says open the door and turn on fan(which room doesn't have). Hour later I complain again and different fella comes and gets it right! Cool air and fan blowing. We went to dinner and while not perfect still, it was bearable upon return. Older place with very large rooms. Clean and some updates. Rooms had outside patio very nice. Coffee and Small gift shop in lobby and had computers to check out Acadia park info. First staff was an idiot, evening guy very knowledgeable and helpful. Very fair prices, nice quiet area we enjoyed walk around the bay. 1 joint to eat next door but not much around. read more

Positives: Check-in went smoothly. Was very clean, especially the bathroom. No smell, cigarette smoke or otherwise. Door seemed secure and had turning deadbolt as well as regular lock. Area feels safe. Furnishings seemed relatively new. Outdoor pool looked well maintained. Cable TV has good selection of standard programming. Nice 2nd floor balcony. Attached restaurant was and convenient, food good. Had pleasant gathering room next to lobby/gift shop. Free coffee for guests in lobby. Negatives: "Harbor view" was mostly the marina/harbor parking lot. TV was the size of a computer monitor, and should have been 3 times that. Closed curtains did not totally block out light from outside. On a weekend night, we could hear people talking and partying until 4:00 AM, with no attempt by the management to monitor noise or control unruly guests. Overall might stay there again. read more

This is a great, clean place to stay. There were no coffee makers in the rooms, but there were coffee pots in the lobby with fresh coffee. There is a very good restaurant attached to the hotel and they have a small gift shop. I would totally stay here again! read more

Beautiful location right on a marina. The rooms are spacious and they have a restaurant on premises that is always crowded. I'm assuming it means good food and service. Yes Please! Fantastic views of the Northeast Harbor and Ocean from our balcony. We really enjoyed the pool and the complimentary coffee & tea in the office. In the age of Covid, cleanliness is important and Kimball Terrace goes over and above to make sure the rooms are very clean from what we have seen. The newly renovated and re-branded restaurant was popping all week. We were in walking distance of everything we wanted to do in town, so much fun. Overpriced, even for the area. I will elaborate: -bed uncomfortable. Tossed and turned both nights, poor sleep. -noisy. Could hear neighbors speak (at normal volume) and footsteps from upstairs neighbors walking. -breakfast's plain black coffee is more expensive than Starbucks, compared to the competition in town that offers free 24h tea/coffee plus continental breakfast. +it was clean, although dated decor (but this was known from photos) +easy parking +friendly staff Next time I will spend a little more to stay at another location. Also of note, on hotels.com the price decreased from $175 to $145, still not even worth the latter. read more

Will come again! I was worried before we lived here because I read some reviews are not positive, but for our family it's clean and nice, friendly service and had everything we need. We reserved two beds rooms and thought if we need more beds for small kids, but when we arrived here, there was another foldable bed in the room for no charge! My new shoes were STOLEN during stay IN MY GUEST ROOM!! If I could rate ZERO star, I would. My husband and I just completed our 4-day Acadia trip and back to NJ minutes ago. It was great experience, nice weather, gourmet lobster, everything seemed pleasant until this morning when we started packing. I was wearing sneakers and brought another pair of new suede shoes for leisure activities. But I didn't find chance to wear them since we were hiking or walking barefoot on sand beach all the time during past two days. We put the shoes in plastic bag and stored under the luggage rack. I didn't check it everyday--never lost things during any hotel stay before. We couldn't find them anywhere in our room or car. So my husband and I went to ask the manager--a bald man wearing glasses--see if he could ask the housekeeper girl named ANGELA whether she ever noticed them or thrown them accidentally, HOWEVER this guy was so rude! He sounded like I was trying to extort him " I don't know what you did to your shoes"" I don't care" "I know what you mean, my girls didn't steal your shoes, I won't let you talk to my girls" "you think I would sneak into your room and took your shoes?" " we are not responsible for anything left in the room" etc.. excuse me??? And he insisted the housekeepers wouldn't touch anything outside the trash. My husband and I got up early because we were about to drive 12 hours back home. The manager was so mad and scary that I thought maybe I did memorize wrong, maybe I forgot them at home at all? BUT We didn't say a single word to accuse the housekeeper--I did tip her before we left our room went to checkout--If I knew I was tipping A THIEF I wouldn't do that! ! In the end we had to leave for no time to waste on a mad bald old manager. Visiting area for first time with family of four. Two kids under age of 12. Reservation for four days. Pros: Located in beautiful spot 20 mins. outside Bar Harbor. Only few miles from Acadia National Park. Easy access to all. Arcadia's Island Explorer shuttle picks up right in front of hotel. Rooms kept clean with daily housekeeping. Cost of stay less than some surrounding hotels. Cons: We were stuck in worst room possible. No balcony. When asked to be switched to a better room they wouldn't budge even though establishment was not to capacity. They stated it would be full in couple days and they were saving rooms. Not sure why we didn't take priority since we were there first and we stated that to the office. Rooms were spacious but outdated. Pool freezing...not sure why in the frigid climates of northern Maine a pool in this area would NOT be heated? No real amenities for kids. Bottom line...place ok to hang your hat at night. When booking ask to be put in main building with balcony. Bring your own supply of things/games for kids bcuz they may not be spending time at pool. On sight restaurant is ok..Tan Turtle. Service good, food ok. You get what you pay for. When visiting area again we will look for a little nicer of a stay. read more

Upon our arrival, I asked if I could have a harbor view. Dave was nice enough to upgrade us to a unit with a harbor view with a balcony. It was amazing. Great hotel to stay close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The room was so clean. They offer coffee in the lobby in the morning and there is an adjacent restaurant for breakfast if you wish. This Inn was exactly what the description/earlier reviews presented. It's older with no frills but clean, organized and with great views. If you're looking for luxury this is not it but our room was large, simple and we had a great view of the harbor. It's about 15 minutes from Bar Harbor where rooms were twice the price so economical and was the reason we booked. Now for the bad reality... We have traveled the northeast for three weeks and have been pleased to see 'no mask, no service' signs consistently on 98% of businesses. Unfortunately, KT not only 'suggests' masks on their front door sign but their employees did not wear them. Front desk is behind plexiglass but hosts should be using when a guest is signing in. Also, housekeeping was not wearing masks and came to the door twice to see if we needed anything. Nice service but no mask made it a negative. Too bad for those of us that believe in the science. read more

I recently stayed at the Kimball Terrace for a friend's wedding. The accommodations are what you would expect at a motor lodge. Notwithstanding the somewhat spartan and dated features of the rooms, the staff was FANTASTIC. Minutes before my friend's wedding, I cut myself shaving and had some blood on my dress shirt--the only shirt I could wear to the ceremony. I called everyone in the wedding party to try to get a Tide Pen, but everyone else was also a light packer. I called the front desk in a last-ditch effort for assistance. The person who answered the phone worked with another employee to track down the industrial stain remover from the maid's closet. Armed with a gigantic bottle of industrial solvent, I was swiftly able to obliterate that giant red splotch from my shirt. Later, it was nearly impossible to pass off a tip to this awesome employee who loaned me the stain remover. She politely declined, genuinely expressing interest in helping a groomsman before his friend's wedding. Only after my most steadfast insistence did she yield and accept a monetary thanks for her outstanding thoughtfulness. This was only the highlight of the outstanding service the staff provided during my stay. The wait staff in the restaurant cheerfully replenished cups of coffee during our lengthy breakfasts as we loitered incessantly, warranting a more than 100% tip for their constant attention. Similarly, the gentleman who attended the front desk had a encyclopedic knowledge of the area, rivaling the resourcefulness of concierges from high-end resorts. Perfect place to stay while visiting Acadia National Park. Close to Bar Harbor for a visit, but not in the midst of the craziness. Be sure to take a few things for breakfast as there is none included, but that is ok. The place is quiet, comfortable and has fabulous views of the harbor and lobster boats. Would stay there again. Only reason I awarded this property 4 stars was the biggest negative - thickness of walls. People in adjacent room talking at normal volume heard easily in our room. Basic motel. Clean enough. Room could use some updating as the shag carpet and bedcovers and décor seem old/ old fashioned. Beds are cheap/ not that comfortable. Staff were friendly enough. The pool is not heated. A bit far from Bar Harbor. At least they had 2 last minute adjoining rooms. A fair place to crash but not hang out. This place is a motor lodge. The decor is kind of dated, and you aren't getting luxury mattress, bedspreads or towels. That being said, the staff is very friendly, the rooms are big and clean, and there is a nice view of the harbor. It is a very comfortable place to stay. They also keep hot coffee and tea in the lobby all the time. The pool looks inviting, and overlooks the harbor, but it was a bit cold to try out when we were there. read more
