The kalbi and tempura were delicious!! Portions are HUGE, service was great, and the food of course was yummy. My friend and I came here for their lunch special, and I was so full by the time I was a quarter through my food. I had enough food to take home for dinner. I will definitely come back and this time with my kids.

Dinner in Aiea, Hawaii... My friend and I were at a seminar at Aiea Library and she wanted to have dinner afterwards. I saw Ruby S. check in at Kim Chee Restaurant 7 and thought - wow... that's nearby! Let's try it! Located at Westridge Center, Kim Chee 7 was on the ground level, to the right of the Hawaii State Credit Union. The restroom is "under the stairs" and a key is needed for the door. Shared parking was free. I walked in and signed my name on the clipboard at the cashier's station. The place was packed! I saw four parties signed in ahead of us, and two tables were being cleared. That meant that we'd be seated soon. The friendly worker called us in and pointed to the middle table. It was set with menus, cups of iced water, utensils, napkins, and three dishes of banchan. I ordered Mixed Plate Special A because it had some of everything: BBQ chicken, meat jun, BBQ beef, and fried mandoo. My plate came with a bowl of white rice and a bowl of seaweed soup. Everything tasted great! I wasn't able to finish since the portion was very generous! My friend ordered a mini chicken katsu, but the portion was massive. I knew she wouldn't be able to eat everything! We both got takeout containers for our leftovers and will probably have meals for a couple of days!

Weeknight family dinner. Open the door, write your name and number of guests in your party on sign in sheet at front counter, wait outside for your name to be called by the staff. Casual and crowded. Massive portions considering the prices. Sufficient for three meals. Intuitive and superb customer service from the staff. Seaweed soup tasted comforting. Pickled radish was on point. Mochiko Chicken was partially coated in batter and most of the pieces tasted dry. Meat is a little tougher and doesn't adhere to the egg mixture for meat jun. Spicy Ahi Won tasted ok. Pickled seaweed passed the taste test. Bean sprouts and cabbage were not pickled long enough and tasted crunchy. I care more about quality than quantity.

Food-tasty Service-fast, friendly. Take out moment because we have our yellow Labrador with us. This is my 1st time eating from this location, luckily I live in Pearl City and made a phone order, picked up in 20 minutes.

It been a while since we stoped by Kimchee 7 We had a craving for Korean so I got the following that never misses Meatjun and kalbi combo

Wow, I'm not exactly sure what's happening with Kimchee 7!! Came by today- They said they can't keep up with orders. Turned us away. They had 2 people sitting outside for takeout. Lately the service has certainly changed for the worse. Hope they figure it out. We liked it here. Again back to our usual 1st choice. We keep trying as I really like their butterfish. Many of the other Kim Chee restaurants have closed as well

My friend and I came here for lunch. He ordered the lunch combo which had a lot of food. I ordered the soft tofu soup. The flavor was light and not overly salty which is my preference. The vegetables included carrots, onions and zucchini. It came with clams, shrimp and beef which I gave to my friend since I don't each those. The only vege options were the vegetable tempura or the tofu and mushroom dish. You could also order the bimbibap and just remove the meat if you're not super strict. The restaurant was busy, especially for take out orders. Value is pretty good for the combo lunch special. The area is undergoing construction so it was a bit hard to find.

I haven't been here in a few years and was craving some Korean food so did a take out Special Plate A for $23.75 which had mandoo, BBq beef, Meat Jun and BBq chicken with a side of fixed veggies that included watercress, bean sprouts, cabbage and kim chee with rice. The food was really good and plentiful so i can save half for my lunch tomorrow. The mandoo was good, BBq beef was tender, the meat jun had too much batter for my liking but was good and the bbq chicken was good. Don't make the same mistake as me by ordering online though, there was a charge to order online, i paid a $1.19 online platform fee for my one plate. Just call them up instead and order. Best to check their website for the latest menu and prices. While i got take out, the restaurant was packed! every booth taken on a Monday evening, you know the place must be good!

KIM CHEE RESTAURANT 7 was highly recommended by a friend of mine. He mentioned that he and his family enjoy coming here because the food is yummy and the portions are...HUGE! Finally, after months of having many conversations about this restaurant I decided to check it out. One day, I was able to convince my family to come and try it out. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a friendly server. He showed us a table to sit at, and then we were given menus along with cups of water. The server came back not too long after to take our order. After our order went in, the server brought us ban Chan and seaweed soup to snack on. Here is what we ordered: Dinner Combo: 2 choice comes with rice and ban Chan Meat jun and Spicy pork Spicy pork and BBQ beef My husband and I enjoyed everything that came in our combo. It was tasty and the portions were...HUGE! If you are hungry for yummy Korean food with huge portions, go and check out KIM CHEE RESTAURANT 7. You'll thank me for that!

It's been awhile since I last ate ther and Inhad a craving for Korean food. I swear they used to be on the upper levThere's construction happening in the parking lot in front and the stores are covered over so we couldn't find it at first. Luckily someone overheard us talking about Kim Chee 7 and told us where to go. Staff was very friendly and refilled our water and banchan. I got the lunch special which was great. The food was tasty and was a good size portions. The only negative was the limited ban Han (cabbage kin chee, lettuce(?) Kim chee, and pickled daikon. The lunch special came with 2 vegetable sides). Despite being hidden by the construction tarps it was quite busy with a lot of take out orders. Overall good food and service.

Kim Chee 7 **** RECOMMENDED **** Food: **** Value: *** Menu: **** Ambiance: ** Service: *** Parking: ***** free in front My mother-in-law, who loves kalbi, said Kim Chee 7 has the best kalbi. When we have family dinners, we will periodically order small trays of their kalbi, meat-jun and chicken katsu. I really like their big bone kalbi, but it's not cheap at $55. Their small bone kalbi at $38 is also good. Our family also likes the meat-jun and chicken katsu, as they are very generous. Like all Kim Chee restaurants, their banchan (sides) are not very good and limited. The seaweed soup is just ok. I consider the Kim Chee restaurants as local style Korean. You will never see Korean nationals speaking Korean in them. They do have a large menu with local favorites though. I would advise you to go early because there is usually a line during the busy times. First timer coming in on a random weekday during lunch hours. They had lunch specials (which is what I opted for). Before you sit, your table is set with banchan: soup, taegu, kimchi, cabbage. I got the lunch plate, it came with meat jun, bbq chicken, and one mandu. My fiancè got a combo plate of teri beef and chicken katsu. Both plates were LOADED! So filling. Fast service and locals know this place is a good spot! (; 100/10

The meat is reasonably high quality, the banchan is generous (the last few times I went they even had poke as a banchan included with the meal), and the service is friendly. The "kimchee soup" is one of my favorite kimchee jjigaes on the island. Refills of meat flow generously out of the kitchen, unlike some other AYCE experiences where each subsequent order gets smaller and smaller until they finally cut you off because you've reached the time limit. I only have one gripe. While each table has a very powerful burner for grilling the meat, their universal approach is to prop up a tilted cast iron plate over the fire to grill on. It's propped at an angle so that the oil flows into a catch pan on the side. This usually means that the half of the plate tilted closer to the fire gets really hot, while the other half struggles to get hot enough and risks just boiling your meat. It also makes adjusting the fire a tricky process - if there's a lull between meats coming to your table, someone might come by and, understandably, turn down your flame. That's fine, but when the food does come out, it takes a long time to get the cast iron hot again. This doesn't stop me from coming back for more here, but just one thing I wish was better about an otherwise great experience. There is a parking lot out front but it is cramped and usually fills up. There is usually someone helping to guide parking, but when it's completely full there's only so much they can do. Street parking in the area can also be a little bit tricky.

This place makes their soondae in house as I can tell the difference with frozen soondae and non-frozen ones. Until I go to Korea to try the real thing, this is the best I can get. The aunties here are still very nice but as always give grace because it does get busy here and one aunty would have to take care of multiple tables and party size as well. Overall I'll be coming here whenever I need my soondae fix!! If you haven't tried, definitely come and try! I still need to try the acye here with friends one day!

Was a quick 15 minute drive from the Hilton village. Arrived to find a no frills restaurant. First discovered meat jun while out in Lanai and loved it. Opted for both the meat jun mix and kalbi plate. Food was ready within 5 mins and decided to eat back at our hotel as we had a full kitchen and dining table. The food smelled amazing and somehow we made it back in less than 10 mins. The kalbi and bbq chicken were both awesome. Was really disappointed with the meat jun as it had a weird chewy texture. Upon closer inspection, not sure if it was even beef! Loved how they include both kimchi and cooked bean sprouts with each plate. We thought the portions were pretty generous and had more than enough for lunch the next day! Would definitely head back for both their kalbi and bbq chicken during our next visit out to HNL. I…read moregrew up in the 80s nearby, cruising Salt Lake Shopping Center from back when there was Pioneer Chicken and Kana's Ice Cream and Pay n' Save and Sizzler's. My parents would stop pick up Soon's on the way to UH games at the stadium, a Saturday splurge (they were never cheap) when my mom didn't have time to make musubi and hotdogs. Maybe i'm suffering from "da good ole days" syndrome, but my first trip back to Soon's in about ten years left me Broken Hearted... VALUE: the portions were OK, Soon's always gave a satisfying portions but never "masu's massive" satisfying. I thought they used to drop a rubbery fried mandoo as a bonus side with your plate but i could be wrong and i got none today. AMBIANCE: it seemed cleaned up, definitely. but like when you see an old plantation house with a thick coat of bright glossy latex it just felt a little off in a less charming, trying-too-hard kind of way. For reference, I absolutely love the "Honesty" of Bob's BBQ on Waikamilo, and BBQ Kai in Waianae. FOOD: I ordered a couple BBQ Chicken and Meat Jun plates for some contractors working on my parents' house nearby, thought that was a safe bet but NOPE. I felt bad i gave the contractors the terrible meat jun i wanted to apologize was so embarrassing. MEAT JUN - (2/10, +one point cuz it didnt give me food poisoning). Soon's version always was thin, but today was Next Level chintzy. I dunno if the meat was over-pounded flat to stretch it out but even WITH the coating it was the SIZE AND TEXTURE OF BITING INTO A STICK OF STALE WRIGLEY'S JUICY FRUIT THAT WAS FORGOTTEN IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BACKPACK FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS DURING A HUMID SUMMER VACATION, but without the burst of fruity goodness. So maybe a more apt analogy would be texture and flavor LIKE BITING INTO A STICK OF CLAY. MEAT JUN SAUCE - (nostalgic 8/10). sweet and tasty, but Why do they give only that MINI thimble portion cup of sauce?!? THE CLAY-LIKE MEAT JUN DOESN'T EVEN FIT THE OPENING OF THE TINY %#@$ CUP!! BBQ CHICKEN - (solid 6/10). Always over-marinated, the classic soon's tasty but heavy handed preparation. Clearly benefits from nostalgia. OTHERS - the BBQ meat / bulgogi is also over marinated, with small/medium shreds of slightly dry and too-hard meat. meh. - the "banchan" tsukemono kimchee foil pocket of veggies was always a treat, but so small. plus the kimchee is super weak more orange and sour than truly tasty. The TREAT - SECRET IS TO POUR A PRECIOUS FEW DROPS OF YOUR TINY CUP OF MEAT JUN SAUCE OVER THE VEGGIES TO GIVE IT A TASTY KICK. VERDICT: I grew up with Soon's, but I want to remember them fondly so I'm Never going back. My parents still live in Salt Lake so I'm sad. Guess I'm just going to file Soon's away with the fuzzy old memories of Aloha Stadium, the Islanders, and the 'Bows v. BYU. Next time i need Korean bento I'm going to Gina's.

I also love that it comes with unlimited rice, plus extras like seasoned salad, lettuce wraps, soups, and even things like fried chicken and mandoo. The quality of the meat isn't superb, but honestly it's more than fair for the price point and AYCE format. Service is quick and attentive as always, and the staff frequently changes the grill so your meat doesn't burn -- which I always appreciate. It's an easy weekday dinner spot with pretty good ventilation, but like any good yakiniku place, you'll probably still leave smelling like smoky grilled meat... and honestly that's part of the experience lol.
