I ordered 2 tacos($5/each). I had the chicken taco as well as the ribeye taco. My wife ordered the bibibap. The beef kalbi was tasty. Overall, this was a tasty experience. I felt like I was a kid and my Korean friends mom made me a taco. It wasn't spicy, as Korean food usually isn't. It came with a tasty sauce that was a little peppery, which added a much needed little zing. Overall a very nice lunch. Though it's a long subway ride to get here, so I won't be back. read more

Cute spot. Have a cute selection of banchan and kimchi. The fried chicken used to be good, but most recently was a little flavorless and not crispy. It also tasted like it could be spoiled. Good spot for a limited selection of Korean pantry items. They try to offer some fresh produce but it's always a little past its prime, not quite edible. You can order tteokbakki and bibimbap and other classic dishes to go - those are usually good but sometimes it feels like they run out of ingredients and substitute with others that don't really work. Cute place. Small selection of basic Asian snacks and food like kimchi, ramen and chips. Prices seemed a little higher than HMart. I kinda wished they sold rice. I also ordered food when I was there and it was good. They have some interesting fusion options with an Asian twist (burritos for example). Kimchee market is such a cute Korean shop that has some grocery items, a variety of kimchee and also takeout options if you want fresh cooked meals. You can do online orders to go or they also have delivery for people in Greenpoint. I tried the tteokbokki which seemed a bit pricey for such a small portion. Try to go carton was only filled up halfway with rice cakes. It tasted great I liked it but definitely a bit pricey for what you get!! I stopped by recently, not really knowing what I was in the mood for. The woman working there was quite attentive and informative. She generously gave me samples, and offered to accommodate me quite a bit. Finally, she provided some interesting perspectives on Korean food. I just wanted to some snacks and was craving those flavor profiles. I walked out with some lotus root, which was unbelievably creamy and flavorful. The pickled? squid was as good as I have had. I was excited to try the Korean fried chicken here because I am a big fan of KFC, but this really fell flat. It is not double fried like traditional KFC and really was more similar to cheap fried chicken you would get from a chinese takeout spot. The soy and garlic flavor that was supposed to be on the wings was also nonexistent. I almost wanted to go back and ask if they forgot to put it on because it did not look like there was sauce on them and I could not taste any either. Maybe the other items are better, but I dont think I will be back to find out. read more

Yet another delicious place in Greenpoint. Delivery dinner for three was excellent. Each dish was great.

I spent $130+ on the kalbi, stir fry octopus, and a bunch of side dishes. The kalbi tasted like overpriced beef and broccoli in a sweet marinade that tastes nothing like kalbi. I ordered five side dishes--they sent two wrong ones and with the exception of the kimchi, the rest were bland. I am giving them to two stars for the food showing up on time and that they refunded the wrong side dishes. Even when I'm desperate for Korean food, I will never order from them again. read more

Really delicious deokbokki, with the perfect marriage of salty, spicy, caramelized sauciness and lovely texture of different ingredients, from the deliciously pillowy long rice cakes to the mildly chewy umami of the fish cakes; upon finishing I felt a sense of a warm, comforting hug, nostril-dripping of course but my tastebuds were satisfied. While the portion was small, for about 6 dollars or so, it was the perfect Goldilock's amount of comfort snack food. Totally recommend coming to this small shop! This is a great spot for really good kimchi and real Korean handmade foods. The kimbap is delicious. My husband and I have been eyeing this place all summer, waiting for it to open. Kimchee Market just had a soft opening 2 weeks ago. It is a related business to Dobeki. Currently, they have kimchi and banchans available, various Korean/Asian ingredients (chili paste, panko, somen, sesame oil, etc.) and snacks (shrimp chips, etc.). They were having a free banchans tasting and I tried the sesame leaves, cucumber kimchi, and chili anchovies--all delicious and very fresh! The grand opening is in plans to happen in the next few weeks as they work on getting the rest of the shop set up. They plan to have daily packaged lunch options like bowls, bento boxes, etc. that are meant to be grab and go. It's a pretty small space but seems to be offering a few exciting Korean options for the neighborhood. I'm looking forward to the grand opening! Update: Kimchee Market has been up and running. I enjoy their kimbap and bento boxes for grab and go--the bulgogi is my usual grab. The reason for my update is to point out that there's a hot foods take out menu now--Kimchee stew, soon tofu, kalbi tang, rice cakes, and beef broth soup dishes. First time visiting this small market and we waited outside for a bit because we weren't sure if they already had more than the max amount of people allowed inside, but the workers didn't acknowledge us. They were too busy chatting and watching these customers feed each other right in front of the door to notice us. We committed to the walk and to check this spot out so we decided to go in since we were able to see the only customers were the two blocking the entrance and having a food sharing frenzy. (Um, does anyone know the indoor dining policy for grocery stores right now?) I'm not really sure what was going on but it was bizarre, and after we entered, it felt like we were interrupting them because we weren't greeted or welcomed by the workers at all. I like the kimchi at this market. HOWEVER, the lady working at the counter yesrerday in the afternoon was very cold. She seemed bothered that we were in there and looking at the various kimchis (which we purchased). I feel bad for the owners as this lady leaves a bad impression on this business. Also, the kimchi isnt cheap. 10 dollars for a small jar of kimchi and you have this unpleasant lady there representing the market. If youre going to mark up your kimchi that much, at least have it be a good experience in the place. Probably wont be back because of the brown haired non-asian lady. read more
