We really enjoyed ourselves having a very nice dining experience here while we visited Savannah area. Thanks to fellow Yelpers, when I searched for a Korean place in Savannah, this popped up as the #1 place. Kimchi 2 was not too far from our hotel, so it made it even more convenient. It didn't look much from the outside, or for that matter it didn't look that great inside, but the food was solid. We all know sometimes those "hole in the wall" kind of places offers the best food for $. Though it didn't have too much beef, my wife enjoyed her bibimbop. Serving portion was generous for $. I opted for spicy pork that was very tasty. They offer four levels of spiciness--mild, regular, spicy and extra spicy. I've had some very spicy Korean dishes in the past, so I opted for regular...which was plenty spicy enough for me. If I were to be critical, the selections of banchan (side dishes) were very limited. I think they could've offered a little more. I'm used to having 7-8 little plates to include kimchi, but Kimchi 2 only gave us five. I'm a big fan of Korean food and particularly Korean BBQ. I've passed this place a few times and decided to give it a try. I had the bibimbap which was good, but was lacking in meat. There was only about 5 or 6 pieces in the bowl. However, everything else in the bowl was delicious. The portion size was large enough even to share. With very limited options for Korean cuisine in Savannah, I would definitely come back to try their other options. I would have also liked a more traditional BBQ experience with table side grills where you can grill platters of meat they give you, like many other Korean restaurants in larger cities. I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed with this restaurant. It's located way out on Montgomery Crossroads which is far for me given that I live downtown, and I only was out that way to run some errands. Still, the Yelp reviews encouraged me to try Kimchi2 for lunch and I'm very glad I did. The interior is a little basic, even run-down maybe, but the waitstaff are very friendly and both they and the kitchen are quite prompt in getting your food out to you. They also have two large televisions playing K-pop videos which is a delight to me since I'm a huge K-pop fan. The bulgogi I had for lunch came with steamed white rice plus several banchan. I've had more varied banchan elsewhere but these were fine though small portions (although I think they will in fact refill the banchan at least once if you gobble up greedily all they bring out the first time). The bulgogi itself was flavorful and I had no complaints there at all. (I should add though this was my lunch, I had it after 2pm when they stop serving lunch so I ordered the normal dinner portion, so the portion sizes I describe are actually dinner portions--and they seemed ample enough but not generous by any stretch of the imagination, either.) The menu is somewhat limited, and for that reason I'm not going to offer five stars and the waitress had an odd if adorable habit of constantly saying "ah, take your time" even when it wasn't really appropriate or meaningful as in, "here is your rice, ah! take your time!". But it was cute nonetheless. I would highly recommend this place: it's not fancy and its menu is limited, but it's certainly quality. I wish it was closer however to downtown or the metropolitan area. read more

Great place for Korean in Savannah area. We moved from another state that had a few great Korean places. We have been wanting to try this place and it didn't disappoint. I am very excited Togo back and try more meals. The bulgogi was a little different than I am used to, but it was still delicious. The chop Che was amazing. I would definitely recommend that. My husband ordered it and I kep stealing bites! Meals are served with sides of kimchi, cucumber kimchi, sprouts, and some sort of potato. This place makes an excellent cucumber kimchi. Being disappointed at other asian restaurants in Savannah before, I didn't have high hopes for this place. But I can't be picky when it's the only Korean restaurants here. After some waiting, the food finally came and I was all smiles...it taste just as I had hoped for. I was very pleased. Exterior is nothing fancy, it's part of a shopping plaza complex. Inside is supprisingly cozy, minimal, but the lighting and color were warm and comfortable..somewhat trendy. Seems to be a mom N pop shop but their service was professional. We went on Friday night and the place was busy. About 30+ customers at 10+ tables with only 2 waitress (a great sign that the place is good). So, you can expect service to be a bit slow, but they did their best to service everyone...and greet their 'Thank you' as each customer exit the place. Overall, service was nice and pleasant. The menu is not overly extensive, but has a great selection for each of your Korean taste buds: Ddukbokki, dumplings, bulgogi, Galbee, Bibimbab, soups, fried rice, grilled fish, noodles, hot pots, sikhye...and lunch specials for about $7. I also like how they don't tone down the spice because that's what I love about Korean cooking. Someone had mentioned higher than normal prices and I have to disagree with the reasoning that they compared it to another Korean restaurant in another city. Haven't you already heard that this is the only Korean Restaurant here? I mean, have you seen any decent asian market around town? The normal supply is just not here, so getting a good fresh Korean meal is well worth the extra dollar if you don't cook it yourself. Now let's get into the details - Food first- Ddukbokki - If you get the large order of this, you get the egg as well in this heavenly, a li'l soupy dish of ricecakes, dumpling and what not! We ended up ordering 2 of these and were still left wanting for more. Chicken bulgogi - Order this one at a high spice level and love it! Surprisingly, this was better than the spicy pork we had. Spicy Squid Noodles - This one was okay. It is thick noodles and not that great squid. The taste was fine, but this is not a dish I'd get again. Sides of kimchi, pickled cucumbers, sweet potatoes, bean sprouts - were good, except that you can get refills of these only if you order as many entrees as the number of people on your table. Service - Pretty good Ambience - Pretty nice Location - Now this was the catch. So we were in Savannah for a vacation and would never have found this place except for the fact that it was a Sun, we were running late for lunch (3PM) and most restaurants with decent ratings were closed in the historic downtown. Besides, who would think of looking up a Korean restaurant in Savannah! So the filtered results on yelp n tripadvisor pointed us to this one, but en route we were betting we'd gotten lost. So if you are new in town, or just visiting this beautiful city,like us, then here are a couple of things.. if you are in the historic downtown, then you'd be driving away all the way to Montgomery Rd, almost 8 miles or so away and you might wonder if you are heading the right way inspite of the GPS. Don't you worry, if you don't see any restaurants, or any shops whatsoever, just follow the GPS and you will see this restaurant in a small shopping complex. Unfortunate but two stars is what I think is fair! Been here twice first time it was outstanding the service is exceptional food was great! This time around was Wednesday night last week don't get me wrong if I ordered a meal and I ask for certain things set aside on my plate I would have appreciated that but the waitress didn't seem as if she spoke English fluently. Food I did not eat I was not pleased getting a cold meal apparently it was a cold dish that was recommended I still paid for my food regardless I am not the type to refuse to pay even if the food was bad the service was good drinks came on time and the appetizer was excellent if you are really into cold food or authentic Korean food then you should come bring a translator I will not be visiting anytime soon unfortunately good luck read more

This used to be my go to spot for Korean cuisine, key word used to. Come on to get a small order of kimchi and even though they have in plain sight the small, medium , & large containers that are labeled to go sizes . I was told that despite what I could plainly see that I would have to order the large container if I wanted it to go. Look dog I don't need that much kimchi so why try to force me to order a size that I clearly don't need when you have the size that I want right in front of my face. It's on you menu for Pete's sake , well needless to say I will not be coming back here again. As someone great once said "it's the principality of the thing ". As always the food was really good, the service was outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone craving Korean food while in Savannah. The menu is not as extensive as I've seen in other places in my travels but the quality of the food is on par with any that I have been to. In previous visits, years ago, they had quite a bit more so I am assuming those are the dishes did not do as well so they removed them. Been here multiple times and have always had a pleasant time. Their food is always delicious, never had I ever had to complain about any of the food. Tonight we had the beef galbi and the galbitang. The beef galbi is AMAZING I will always recommend that! The meat is so tender and mouth watering. They also have about 6 condiments you can mix and match with for a different taste. I was feeling under the weather so I order a nice hot galbitang. It was so good and hot. The meat was tender and the noodles were soft. The staff was nice no matter how many people we had. This was my first time eating Korean food and I must say Kimchi 2 was an excellent choice for it. The restaurant is a bit small and tucked away but the food was delicious and servers friendly. I ordered the fried beef dumplings as an appetizer and then the spicy chicken (mild) as my meal. The beef dumplings are, a must, to order and the chicken was a good go to item on the menu. I may be a little more adventurous next time with my choice but overall, I really enjoyed myself at Kimchi 2 and will go back again soon. read more

After retiring from the Army and moving to Cincinnati, its been a long while since I've had any Korean food We decided to take a trip to Savannah, GA this week and had our fill of seafood and BBQ. Looking for something different, we drove around our hotel in midtown and spotted Kimchi 2. Being curious I looked up the reviews on Yelp and decided to take the plunge. Everything said of the ambience is true. Korean pop on the TV as soon as you walk in. But what I also noticed when we walked in was that we were the only non-Korean's in the place. A very good sign !! We were greeted by a smiling server who immediately seated us and took our drink order. My girlfriend had never had Korean food before, so I started easy. We ordered the Bulgogi hot pot for two. It arrived in about 5 minutes accompanied by a selection of kimchi, potato and cucumber kimchi and bean sprouts. As soon as the hot pot arrived, I knew it was the right choice. The delicious aroma from the rich looking broth wafted up into my nose and triggered memories from my time overseas. Meaty with vegetables and noodles. The broth was rich with flavor. The meat was sliced thin and you could tell it was the reason the broth was so rich. It also came with a side of both steamed and fried rice. We finished it all, savoring every spoonful ! If in the area give them a try. Lots of other traditional dishes to choose from. read more

This place is super yummy! They are open late which is great and true to korea! The flavors are really amazing. The meat quality is better than many Korean restaurants I have visited but it's not the very best. But honestly the portion sizes and flavor are so great I will keep going back again and again. I just wish they served a bigger variety of banchan which is the yummy pickled side dishes that come with your meal. They serve about 3-4.
