Dessert Review Only. Our friend said we H A D to try the hula pie, so we made a final stop here on our last night in Maui. What We Ordered: + Hula Pie, 5/5 - Mango Pono Pie, 2/5 HULA PIE was good, with vanilla ice cream in the middle and a chocolate cookie base (think Oreos!). If you love these two things, than you'll love this dessert. MANGO PONO PIE was not a crowd pleaser. Even the adventurous ones downvoted this dessert. Hawaii grown mango, nut crust, Maui honey, Kyla strawberries, and mint. If that sounds delicious to, give it a shot. Our group thought it was too sour. 3 stars because the Hula Pie was good, but I wouldn't go back just for that. It's also best shared between AT LEAST 4 people unless you're tryna get the beetus.
Very hard to beat the ambiance with the tremendous ocean view looking toward Lanai watching the sunset. 5/5 The service is very efficient aloha friendly and fairly fast considering Kimos is usually packed because of the views. Our server was great, The kitchen can run a little slow. 4/5 We ordered pups and one main for the two of us. My wife was ver hangry after 18 holes on the trying plantation course with 40mph winds and rain. We had the coconut prawns or shrimp which were over cooked thus dry and the coconut flavor gone. For $20 a rip off. 1/5 The macadamia nut crusted calamari strips well we could not taste the nuts at all though they were perfectly cooked. So don't expect anything special. 3/5 The pulled Kalua pork lettuce wraps were the best item we had. Tasty sauce and the pork was succulent. 4/5 The kimos baked fish of the day was Mahi and was an utter disappointment. No flavor left in the overcooked fish. Salad was tasteless as well. 1/5 Do not come here for the food as you probably will be disappointed. Over rated and priced but great views service and ambiance
Waited in a small outside line to have lunch at Kimo's. At opening time, we walked right in, no reservation, and were seated at a lovely ocean view table. The scenery is fantastic! The food was pretty good, at our table it seemed that the fish and chips were most popular. The Hawaiian burger was a normal burger, nothing super special. The Broke Da Mouth plate lunch was good but a little sparse for the price ($27). Our server was friendly, got us our drinks and app right away, and checked on us often. Lunch and drinks for 4 of us cost close to $150 which is pretty standard for nicer spots in Maui, but sitting and eating lunch right by the water, enjoying the beautiful weather made it worth it! I'd love to come back and try the Hula Pie for dessert!
Kimo's is a bit easier to make a reservation at than some other Maui restaurants these days. It is a big place with plenty of tables. Nice views of the water are possible both on the main and 2nd floors. They are right on the ocean, so very pretty sunsets! Check out the shops and galleries of Lahaina before or after your meal given the central location. The menu is simple but tasty. This is a place for fresh seafood. Not overly fancy, but reliably good. The service is usually friendly and timely as well. Their complimentary bread basket is carrot muffins, which are something different but very tasty!
I've been to this location twice already during my travels. Never have been disappointed. I make reservations in advance so I'm not waiting too long as this place is popular throughout the day. The servers are kind ( Stephanie) and the front desk staff has been always welcoming! Ordered the following appetizers: MACADAMIA NUT CRUSTED CALAMARI! Delicious! Accompanied with house made cocktail sauce COCONUT SHRIMP accompanied with cider honey mustard sauce Delectable!!! Ordered the following entree's: KIMO'S BAKED Fish with Roasted basil, lemon & garlic glaze, macaroni salad, jasmine rice Pure deliciousness! FISH TACOS Citrus herb grilled, pico de gallo, queso fresco, roasted tomatillo aioli, tortilla strips ( I personally like pico de gallo on the side just so I can taste the goodness of the fish!) Can't go wrong ordering this entree! FISH 'N' CHIPS Maui Brewing Co. Bikini Blonde Lager battered, house made tartar sauce, crunchy apple cider coleslaw It was a little bit on the greasy side but delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. SLOPPY JACK Slow roasted Duroc pork, crunchy apple cider slaw, BBQ sauce, brioche bun This option was flavorful and good!! We were all too full after sampling all the meals that dessert was not an option this time. I was told to save my receipt so I can get a complimentary hula pie (Chocolate cookie crust, macadamia nut ice cream, hot fudge, toasted mac nuts, whipped cream) at their sister locations ( Leilanis ) on the island. Great view, great vibe here, recommend this place to visit when in Lahaina.
My husband and I really wanted a nice place to watch the sunset and enjoy drinks. We had looked up a few places on Yelp, but Fleetwood on Front's was more of a music venue that obstructed the sunset, and there was another restaurant nearby I think called Lahaina Yacht Club that had seats at the bar, but the bar seats were nowhere close to the beautiful sunset view. We happened to find this place finally, and I'm glad we did. The seats at the bar were perfect for staring at the gorgeous sunset!!! I got a mango slushee, which was honestly too sweet - couldn't finish it. My husband got a Mai Tai, too sweet, just whatever. We also shared French fries, only $3, which did hit the spot. Maybe their food here is better! Service was fantastic though. The drinks came super fast, and they were very friendly and hospitable too! There was also live music here that was going to start at 6pm - we love live music, but we wish it started at 4:30 when we were watching the sunset. Oh well. Super popular touristy spot downtown Lahaina, but I still love it. Awesome waterside views and good food too. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: yes but limited avail Return worthiness: yes Highlights: - Love the unobstructed view of the water on the deck for lunch - Fish sandwich: extra delicious and fresh. 4.5 stars - Hula pie: big slice of ice cream and chocolate and mac nut have to have every time. 4 stars - Coconut shrimp: large shrimp breaded nicely. 4 stars - Mai tai: not too sweet and in a glass tiki goblet - Super nice staff even though they're busy - If you go right when they open, there will be a line but you can get lucky and get a table Lowlights: - Hard to make a reservation since it's so popular Love the relaxing meal here which epitomizes a Hawaiian vacation and will be back.
4.5 Stars - We were staying near the Whalers Village where most of the restaurants seemed to be the same. As a foodie, we wanted something different as the places down in Lahaina offered more variety on their menus. Kimo's didn't disappoint. We had a reservation and got a great table upstairs with a view of the ocean. Our server was great. We arrived prior to sunset and she didn't try to rush us out of there. They start us off with homemade carrot muffins. We then tried their fire roasted veggie dip which came with grilled flatbread and goat cheese. For our main dishes, we had the baked local fish "Kimo's style" and a lobster topped fish. Everything was delicious. For our anniversary, they brought us a slice of their Hula Pie. Thank you Kimo's for getting our trip started on the right note. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend Kimo's even over their sister restaurants in Ka'anapali.
Our favorite Oceanside happy hour spot and you need to check it out. Go now. They have two mai tais not sure which is better but who cares, you came for the fun atmosphere and views. The Lahaina Lemonade should be your second choice. If the LL is your first choice then it may be fore second or third!! Tropical itch? They got you. The fish tacos are delicious. Burger was pretty good. I'm on the island so I go for seafood. Tips: grab a drink and sit at the bar if waiting for table. Dinner they open the top area, it's just the outside open for lunch and happy hour but there is plenty of shade if needed. Their merchandise is top notch. Hard and tshirts are a winner
Flew into Maui. Plane was late and reservations were at 8:30. Called the restaurant and they said the kitchen closed at 9 and they'd seat us as soon as we got there. Looked up the menu on-line while heading to Kimo's. Hadn't been here for 20+ years. If anything it got better! Had the ribs and chicken and others had fish tacos and a cheeseburger. Birthday boy had filet mignon and said it was excellent. Our waitress did such a nice job. The receptionist put us on a restaurant next to the water and our order was immediately taken. Spectacular food, service and ambiance! What's not to like? Go eat at Kimo's if you're in Lahaina, Maui. The hula pie birthday cake was also so so yummy! Much Mahalo Kimo's and staff. read more

Came here for drinks and apps with a friend. We didnt have a reservation and when we arrived we were told there was an hour wait for a table. We opted to sit at the bar to wait. We ordered drinks and 15mins later we were notified that a table was ready but we opted to stay at the bar. I had a vodka martini and coconut shrimp. Both were really good. I would definitely go back for the shrimp. Our bartender was also nice and attentive. I recommend this location for a date or just on a night out in Lahina. read more
Right on the water. Good food. Excellent service. Live music. Kimo's has it all. I made reservations for 6pm, but we stopped by around 4pm to check out Aloha hour*, which they are not currently offering. Came back at 6pm and was seated upstairs. Nice view! - Mai tai: An average Mai tai. 3/5 - Kimo's klassic burger ($17.50): Cooked medium unless otherwise specified. Good quality meat. I was a bit fussy with the condiments and asked for no cheese but to add grilled onions and pickles. The kitchen denied the former request and our server said the latter here were weird and I wouldn't like them. They did, however, give me a phat slice of raw red onion. The fries were good. 3/5 - Sesame crusted ahi ($36): My bf enjoyed the this one and rated it 4/5. - Hula pie: We came here specifically for the notorious Hula pie since we missed it at Keoki's Paradise in Kauai last visit. It did not disappoint. Meant to serve 2-4, the two of us scarfed it down. So glad we finally got to see what all the hype was about. 5/5 Eric, our server, was great. He surprised me with a Hula pie slice for my birthday! Very generous! ---------- * I didn't see Aloha hours posted on their website, but saw it on a recent Yelper's review they "just missed happy hour". Please get your facts straight people. Ummm yes please after leaving here I immediately wanted to go back and try more items off their menu. The pricing is right for the ambiance and quality of food. The staff was friendly and the food came out pretty fast for how busy it was. This place will be added to my list of places I need to come back to. read more
Beautiful view and great food. Only gave four stars because the beet salad was not on the lunch menu and even though we stayed till four they wouldn't let me order it at the table I had to go to take out to get one to go. Turned out to be the worst beet salad I've ever had with all arugula and some dragon fruit and pear that were not ripe this the four stars. The Kalua lettuce wraps were probably the best things I've had and I wish I had got more of them for dinner because they were so delicious although the plate lunch was pretty good as well but the rice with overcooked. read more
So the tl;dr is that this place is overrated. We tried to stop in here for food and/or drinks at least three times before we FINALLY got a seat at the bar. It kinda became a thing because the first night we were there, Kimo's had been a must-eat suggestion, so I had this NEED to actually do the thing. Now, when we finally got to belly up to that bar (forget getting a table before 8:30 PM unless you've somehow snagged a reservation) the bartenders were GREAT. Very attentive, and even gave us a little half-serving of pina colada when they had made too much. So SUPER kudos to them! (No kudos to the host[ess] who was giving the stink eye to anyone who walked in to see whether there were seats at the bar, though) That said, the drinks are really expensive, as is the food. After perusing their pretty limited menu, and knowing I needed to eat but not being super hungry, I ordered the $16 "Fire Roasted Veggie Dip" appetizer. While it was tasty, the ratio of the actually filling item (flatbread) to the still somewhat small pot of veggie dip was off, to say the least. I don't know, I'm still kinda shocked that I was told this was a "must eat" place in Lahaina. It wasn't bad thanks to the strong drinks and great bartenders, but again...overrated for sure. read more

Oh man, this place was fantastic!! MAKE A RESERVATION ASAP. The calamari was like butter, this fire roasted vegetable dip was so good I literally ate it with a spoon, my Maui cooked "Kimo's way" was honest to god the best fish I've ever eaten. It literally melted in my mouth. I personally did not partake of the Maui pie bc of a pesky allergy, but we ordered two and they were both gone. I'd say they were good enough! read more
Kimo's was bookmarked for our culinary tour of Maui, and thankfully bae reminded me to call for reservations while we were lounging on the beach. Check in was a breeze and we were ushered to the second floor right on the railing with an unfettered view of the Pacific. The molokini prime rib was a decent cut, but it was thin and had an abundance of fat. If crispy and sweet is your thang, then go with the coconut shrimp, which were also fairly big. The mashed potatoes tasted homemade but ordinary. I'd recommend not getting the fish and chips, because they tasted a bit greasy, even though they were nicely crisp. Wish I would have went with the ribs instead. The hula pie was impressively large but the ice cream was somewhat bland. All in all, a great evening with my sweetie watching the waves rolling and tikis blazing. read more

After spending all day in Lanai, we were hungry and wanted some food that was within walking distance from our all-day parking located at the wharf cinema parking lot. This was one of the places to accept reservations. We made one for 715pm. We got there at 705 and was told it would be a 10 min wait, which is totally fine. We were seated by the deck overlooking the ocean. It's a very nice place to eat, higher end place, some tables were all dressed up. For an appetizer, I ordered their macadamia crusted calamari, and for an entree, I ordered their fresh opah, which is a Hawaiian sunfish with an extra side of coconut shrimp. The calamari was really good. Well breaded. You get a little bit of the nutty sweetness from the macadamia. Good large chunks of calamari. Cooked well. Not tough, but it does have some chew or body to it. The opah was really good!! Had a nice crust. Fish is soft and flaky. The white sauce it came in was really flavorful too and elevated the dish. A squyze of the lemon slices added the right amount of acidity to it. The rice was also really good. Not hust plain white rice. Great flavors. The carrots it came with were borderline raw. Not great. Coconut shrimp was great!! Large, cooked well. Flavorful. Our waitress was great. Friendly. Explained the specials. Went over the menu. Checked on us frequently. They were busy (Saturday night), so the food just took way too long to come out. Well over 45 minutes. Glad the appetizer came out quickly, so I wasn't too hangry. Total bill for what I ordered was $71.50. Oh and they provide complimentary bread, which is great, considering how long it took the food to come out. They also have 2 tacos for $25. Waitress stated that an additional tacos would be $2. Turned out its an additional $5. But better than the $12.50 for each of the 2 tacos. I'm sure when the sun is out or during the sunset, the views are fantastic, which adds to the atmosphere. They also have live music playing on the main floor. Price is on the expensive side, but you are paying for the location and atmosphere and being in the most touristy part of Maui, it only makes sense. Minus 1 star for the wait time though. read more

This place was great but I must give it three stars because the food was pretty average in my opinion. Our group of 4 started with drinks and then also got the coconut shrimp, fish tacos, sesame crusted ahi, and the kids chicken teriyaki. Everything tasted divine but the coconut shrimp was not very coconutty, the ahi was really great though. I highly recommend getting that if you go! We all had a lovely time and parking cost is $10 but it was perfectly fine because we walked around and shopped afterward. Our server kind of forgot about us after he dropped our food off. This place was not my favorite fancy restaurant we have visited in the island but it was also not my least favorite as well. read more
We came here for the view and the hula pie--my husband's favorite dessert--and were pleasantly surprised by the rest of the food. All that we ordered was quite good with the exception of the plate lunch (dry ribs, boring teriyaki chicken fingers). I especially liked the pesto covered opah that went with salad, and of course, the ahi tartare appetizer. The view can't be beat and the hula pie is ginormous and delicious. Reservations for a Friday night. Four of us were sat in a timely manner. Our table was outside on the patio, which was awesome because you can hear the waves crashing as you eat. It was dark out but I'm sure the view would have been beautiful. I ordered the prime rib (available until they run out) and it comes with a side of mashed potatoes. It was sooo good! Cooked perfectly and served with Au jus and creamed horseradish. We also got the Hula pie. My sister in law got a cheeseburger and fries and she said it was good. My brother got the ribs and he was happy with those as well. read more
We are on Mauii for my birthday. We found Lahaina over run with tourists. Tried to make reservations for my Birthday dinner and found we should have made them before we came! Decided to walk Front Street in the old town after lunch but before dinner to see if we could find anything overlooking the ocean. Got to Kimo's and they were able to seat us (3:45) on their deck, right over the waves- score! The service was exceptional. My wife has various food allergies, and our server, Amanda went the extra mile ( or two). She made a list of what items my wife could eat ( or could be modified for her). We told her it was my birthday, and that we wanted to chill over a drink or two and enjoy the afternoon. No problem. We had some appetizers, a few drinks then finally a main. Then Amanda brought out a complementry Kimo's Hula pie. The meal couldn't have ended any better! read more
This was the best meal we had during our week in Oahu and Maui. From the great views, yummy food and wonderful service everything was very enjoyable. It was my SOs birthday and they brought out a complimentary hula pie which was a lovely touch. Their frozen cocktails were on point. read more
I actually can't believe I forgot to write a review of Kimo's, because I think this was one of my favorite dinners of all time. Kimo's checks off all the boxes you want in a dining experience: 1) the views are absolutely unreal, 2) the food is super tasty, 3) the service is great, and 4) the vibes are truly immaculate at Kimo's. We started off with the fire roasted vegetable dip (which I sadly forgot to take a picture of) and it was good! It was the only vegetarian appetizer, so I'd probably have to order it again if I went back. I wish there was another option, but it was still good either way. For dinner, I ordered the fish tacos and they were SO delicious! I actually wish it was 3 tacos instead of 2, and that way we wouldn't need the side of the chips and salsa. My partner ordered the parmesan crusted fresh fish which he said was really good. I taste tested it and would absolutely order that next time. We ended the evening with sharing a huge slice of hula pie. This was my first time ever trying it and I can honestly say that it lived up to ALL the hype I'd heard about it! A friend actually told me to come to Kimo's just for this dessert, and I'm so glad I listened. It's an 11/10 dessert. The atmosphere at Kimo's is unmatched; you feel energized just being here. So, I had to go to this place since I saw it on Pinterest, social media, and heard that it was the place to go have a good mai tai. We made reservations about two months ahead of time and were able to get in the day after we arrive to Maui. We were seated right by the edge of the patio overlooking the beautiful ocean. It was perfect spot to sit and enjoy our mai tais. We ordered food as well. The food was just ok. I understand I'm paying Maui prices, but for the price, I expected better flavor The calamari did not really stand out. I couldn't get any of the macadamia flavor. It came with cocktail sauce. I didn't think it went well with it. Fish tacos: had good flavor. They were hardy. Maybe a little dry. The side of chips and salsa hit the spot. The fish and chips: they were ok. The batter was good. The coleslaw it came with was creamy and good. Mai tai: they were good. Staff: friendly, fast This restaurant is located in a busy tourist strip. Parking is available nearby. We paid $10 for parking. No wait on a Saturday night, sat at the bar. Bartender was really friendly. Drinks were good. We decided to eat light so we shared an app and a dinner plate. The ahi avocado stack was good, the chips were better! The mahi mahi with lobster top dinner for $39.... not impressive. Was it good? Yes. Was it amazing? No! The portion size of fish was on the smaller side, felt like we actually got more lobster than fish (not complaining). The amount of rice was extremely minimal, surprisingly enough, as rice is usually used as a filler. The roasted carrots were bland. Now, the best part of the night.... the view!!! We actually lucked out and sat down right as the sun was going down, so we saw the beauty of Maui's sunset. Will we return? Probably not! Lots of other restaurants in Maui that we still have to try! read more
This was super packed this good Friday. It is def hard to find parking but man when you do the view and walk make it so fun. Our server was sincerely the best and made my grandmas 70nth so pleasurable. They were able to accommodate our big party last minute for my grandmas big bday. She was gifted a hula pie. The prime rib omg it was so delicious!!!! I was so satisfied sharing with my hubby and we devoured within minutes. The chowder had so much texture and flavor was amazing. My wife and I are in Maui for our 30th Anniversary. We were in Lahaina for lunch and stopped at Kimo's. Our server was Robert and the service we received from him was awesome. I ordered the Kimo's Klassic Burger and my wife had the fish tacos. Both were outstanding. The burger was fresh and juicy. The bread was so fresh it almost tasted as if they made their bread. The fish tacos were great, and the tortilla chips tasted as if they were home made. The view was gorgeous. If you are in Maui, come by here and eat. You will love it. read more

Made a reservation here for 5:30 to watch the sunset and requested ocean view seating on Open Table. When we got there they said that we could wait for the next available ocean view spot and did not provide an estimate. We finally got seated and ended up upstairs in the second row with a big tree blocking our view after 25 additional minutes from my original reservation. The view was a 6/10 and the parmesan crusted fish dish was dry and did not feel worth the price. Redeeming stars went to the complimentary muffins and the hula pie was pretty good. Pretty busy restaurant on the bustling tourist streets of Lahaina. I made reservations a month prior because I wanted that oceanfront sunset view and we still had to wait 15 min after our reservation time. When we were finally seated, the sunset had mostly passed. It was a bit of a bummer, but since it was also cloudy that day, we might not have been able to see the sunset regardless. And the views are still stunning, sunset or not. We ordered the prime rib + lobster tail (I heard that Tristan lobsters and Maui raised cattle were things I had to try) and the lobster topped fish (Mahi Mahi that day). Everything was cooked well and tasted great. The prime rib was a true medium rare, and was so tender. The Tristan lobster tail was so sweet. I enjoyed the complimentary carrot muffins as well. For drinks, I had the Lahaina Lemonade and Kimo's grog. Both were okay, but not things I would order again. The food was tasty and the place is a vibe (live singing, tiki torches, ocean views), so even though it is a little pricey, it is a Maui staple worth trying. read more
Phenomenal. A must-go-to whenever you're in Maui. I can tell you that I'll certainly be coming back! Make sure you get a reservation, cause it's a hot spot. Everything about this place is wonderful. Let's start with the atmosphere.. it's right on the beach. No matter where you sit you'll have a great ocean view. They light tiki torches at night which really adds to the ambiance. Throw in a little live music and you've got a perfect Hawaiian dinner setting. My only complaint is that the music was too loud. Like.. really really loud. We ended up moving tables it was fine, though. The food - wow. Everything was just scrumptious. Started out with the coconut shrimp. Huge, meaty pieces of perfectly seasoned and grilled shrimp. Amazing. The cider honey mustard sauce was a nice touch. I ordered the Kimo's Classic burger and it was one of the best burgers I've had. Nothing too fancy - just the perfectly cooked beef and flavors. If you want a little touch of heaven, you can end your evening with a slice of Hula Pie. Wowwwza that was a real treasure. Great spot for dinner and drinks in Lahaina. An average experience that won't leave you disappointed but isn't something super memorable. The location is right on the main strip in Lahaina, so you'll get the energy and lovely view of the ocean wherever you sit. The drinks and food were lovely, but again nothing to write home about. Their Hula pie is really famous so if you have a sweet tooth make sure you leave room for this special treat! read more

I came to Kimo's with a group of 5 other friends to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We made a reservation beforehand and were seated with an oceanside view. For how busy the restaurant was, service was really great and attentive to our needs. As for the food, we ordered an assortment of their seafood & protein entrees as well as some drinks and appetizers. The food was a bit pricey, but it makes sense due to the location of the restaurant. Here's what I thought about the food! - Carrot Bread Muffins: Wow these were amazing. And we didn't even order these! They gave them to us complementary as part of our meal - honestly I could've eaten 2-3 of these easily. They are served with some whipped butter and sea salt... just the perfect way to start our meal! - Coconut Shrimp: Really good, but very costly! These are pretty sizable shrimp that are crusted heavily with coconut and batter. However, they only give you 5 pieces, and for $16 that's a pretty hefty price to pay. - Macadamia Nut Calamari: Not your traditional small piece Italian-style fried calamari. These were meatier strips of fried calamari that honestly tasted just as good. They were meaty and tender, and with the cocktail sauce were absolutely perfect. - Prime Rib: For #32, it seemed relatively affordable for a nice slab of prime rib and au jus served with mashed potatoes and horseradish cream. Unfortunately, the prime rib came out overcooked and slightly tough. I had asked for medium rare and the eye portion of the ribeye came out medium, which made the meat a little tougher to chew. The spinalis was cooked perfectly, although that portion is naturally more tender. Despite the good amount of chewing I had to do to get it all down, the flavor was good and the horseradish cream was a classic pairing. - Seared Ahi Tuna: The crust on this ahi was perfect. Light golden brown with a great flavor, and a zesty cabbage slaw to go with it. The dish also came with a Thai sweet chili vinaigrette, which had a sweet and spicy kick to it. Overall, the dish was well balanced, and this is likely the entree I'd order if I came next time. - Parmesan Crusted: Local catch of the day crusted and cooked with Parmesan, and served with some roasted carrots. Honestly this was the most underwhelming dish (see the picture below). This was literally just a plate with a piece of fish and 4 carrots. It desperately lacked a starch, and almost looked like an a la carte order, not a full entree. For $33 it almost seemed like a joke. The fish itself tasted just alright - I'd likely stick with the Seared Ahi instead. - Mahi Mahi: Grilled Mahi Mahi topped with Lobster sauce, and served with carrots and fries. This was pretty tasty, with the lobster sauce being the real star of the show. The fish itself was really fresh, I just wished they gave a slightly bigger piece? Otherwise, this was my second favorite entree. Overall, this is a classic long-standing Maui restaurant with a great view of the ocean. The seafood here is fresh and a tad overpriced, but you get what you pay for - pretty tasty food and a nice view! Along with some of their custom drinks or Mai Tais, this restaurant is definitely one that I could see myself coming back to! read more
We had high expectations but everything was just not as expected. Price is incredibly expensive. There was 4 of us and we ordered 2 dishes and 2 appetizers each. We asked our host if the food was going to be enough and he said it was. The portion size was disappointing, even for just 1 person. Add the fact that it took more than 35-40 minutes to get our food on a Tuesday evening, not recommending this place for tourists, locals, and anyone else. Food was underwhelming as well. McDonald's has better quality, cheaper price, and faster service. I should've eaten there instead! read more

Great interior restaurant and view. Sherry our waitress was very helpful and informative about the menu, and the ocean view from outside seating is excellent. Be aware the tropical ice tea drinks are good (especially mango), and are $5 each with a fifty cent refill charge. Had the Caesar salad and their classic burger. Excellent too. Honestly, zero issues. From start to finish, Kimo's was the best all-around restaurant we went to in Maui. Service was excellent, our mac nut crusted calamari came out fried well, and both fish plates were fantastic. I had the fish n chips, and the wife had the parmesan crusted fish. Both plates were cooked very well, and the fish wasn't overly done so it was still flaky and moist underneath their crusts. Then, came the decadent Hula Pie, and this behemoth did not disappoint (peep the picture). Drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with more mac nuts, the ice cream whopper was sweet and rich. Great meal, great service. The mai tai's and the views...well, you can't beat that. read more

'22 Summer vacation in the land of Ohana and the Aloha spirit. Highly recommend making reservations through Open Table as seating during early dinner hours (5p-7p) are typically reserved weeks to months in advance. If you able to get seated around 6p, you get to enjoy a Sunset view from their ocean views tables. Dinner at Kimo's did not disappoint with attentive wait service and menu selections of ultra-fresh seafood (fish of the day). Starters: Fisherman's Chowder, Fried Calamari Entrées: Lobster Topped (tasty!), Crusted Ahi, Prime Rib "Molokini cut" (cut like butter) To complete this meal, HULA PIE time! I've had this dessert delicacy (cake size cut of vanilla ice cream covered with macadamias nuts, hot fudge topped with fresh whip cream ) at other Hawaii establishments in Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii. Each slice can be shared among 2-3 people but, in my case, no shame, no sharing! This trip celebrated my 20th trip to the Hawaiian Islands and what nicer way but to enjoy a sunset dinner at Kimo's. I think the aloha hour is in the whole restaurant area. When I went, I enjoyed the aloha hour at a table (regular chairs) with a view.

How loud or quiet is it?
Depends on where you sit. I would suggest making reservations for before sunset and sit closest to the water. Spectacular sunset view!!! No problem holding a conversation there.
Any advice on how to secure a table up top for sunset at dinner? I made reservations, but looked like you were not able to ask for specific table location. Dining on a Tuesday, etc.
