This hotel was very nice. From the minute i pulled up, the valet men were extremely welcoming and very nice. I got there a bit early, and was allowed early check-in, and i was able to upgrade to a room with a deep soaking jacuzzi tub. It was the absolute best part of the trip for me. The front desk staff was super awesome (i believe her name was Tamika) and she was very sweet, welcoming. The other staff members all spoke when they saw you. A hello, and can i help you with something was consistently heard during my stay. I'm such a sucker for good customer service and this one was top tier! I was upgraded because the hot water in my room wasn't working. So, i got upgraded to a better room (with the jacuzzi). I really did enjoy this hotel. I will definitely stay here again, and if you are in Baltimore, this is a great option. My room was. A corner room, so many windows (a sucker for natural light), and the living area was super spacious. I look forward to coming back and spending more than a night here. read more

I stayed at Hotel Monaco Baltimore Harbor this past weekend. To give you background on my stay: -2/18/2022 - 2/19/2022 : I booked a room through Hotel Tonight , PAID IN FULL. as of January 21, 2022. I checked in late around 3 am on February 19 2022. At that time my card was charged a $100 incidental fee that I was informed would come back to me.******* -On 2/19/2022 I had a reservation 2/19/22-2/20/22  for a Charm City Special at the rate of $330.06 taxes included. On that morning around 10:00 am 2/19/2022, I asked the front desk rep ( Blonde Braids), if I could be switched to my room as I had a Birthday engagement reservation at 12:30 Pm.( The reason for my stay at this property was the convenience to my event.) The front desk representative checked me out from room 1024 and relocated me to my supposed Suite 1209. She charged my card for $405.05 and stated that included in that total was the incidental fee. I am not accustomed to a Hotel taking the money before the stay, however she explained that due to the hotel location, that was policy to prevent fraud. Understood, but what policies are put in place to prevent unauthorized transactions from the Hotel itself?! Upon arrival at Room 1209 it was FILTHY (Pics provided ) The Spa tub (which was the only reason I booked that particular room) had a reddish and black substance spots in it i.e NOT CLEANED. There was throw up by the bed, the flooring was coming apart. Unacceptable! I immediately went down and spoke to the same representative, the location was extremely busy (seemed understaffed) and I had to wait in line to dispute the new room that I was placed in.  I expressed to her that I had somewhere to be and that point just needed a clean room to shower in. She agreed to put me back in room 1024 until they could get me to a cleaner room. I then expressed that I wanted to CANCEL my reservation for 2/19/22 -2/20/22 due to inconvenience. The representative advised me that she would let her manager know that my reservation should be cancelled. (said rep also stated that she went up to room 1209 and that it wasn't throw up on the floor, it was just the discoloration of the carpet...  (pics attached, it's clearly throw up) When I arrived back at room 1024 which was approximately 12 pm (My reservation was at 12:30 pm.) . While attempting to get ready for my reservation, I needed a new iron because the one in room 1024 had coffee grounds and cheeto crumbs coming out of it.  I called to the front desk twice to remind them of my need and I NEVER RECEIVED A NEW IRON!  At this point I was made late for my reservation and my clothes were wrinkled.  I left the Hotel with all of my bags in hopes to never return again! At 1:05 pm on  2/19/22  I received a text from Monica welcoming my stay, which is completely adversed to the fact that I left the hotel WITH ALL of my bags PRIOR to her sending this text. I then responded and told her that I cancelled my reservation , her message is therefore in error and that I expect a full refund. I got no response ! (Screenshot attached). I called back the next day 2/20/22 to see if the changes were made to my bill and to ensure that the charges $405.05 as well as $100.00 incidental from the night before would not post to my account. I spoke to the same representative from the day before (blonde braids) . She explained that she spoke with her manager and that I had no bill. I asked her if there was any correspondence she could send me that stated my reservation was cancelled, she said the only thing she could send me was a zero bill. (attached) I checked my account this morning and I saw a charge for : $112.68 that was posted and  was never authorized by me. How does $100.00 turn into $112.68 without my knowledge. Furthermore if that was for incidentals and to be lifted because there were no incidentals , how does this get charged to my account?? $405.05 - Still pending $12.68 - COMPLETELY NEW CHARGE on my account. The bill I received had zero amount. Where do these charges come from? I would like to speak to you or someone who can help me resolve this issue and not give me the runaround. Hotel Monaco has ruined my Birthday weekend and is now tying up my account with unauthorized charges. As a customer I expect 5 star service from a 5 star hotel. I would pick zero stars if that was an option. Absolutely nothing is going right at this hotel from check-in to now trying to leave. The valet situation was a nightmare, and then he tried to check me in for a dollar amount much higher than what my receipt that I had paid online already showed. The restaurant is a disaster. First we could seat it upstairs only to find out after 15 minutes that no one is serving upstairs. Then we order flatbreads which make up 25% of the menu only for the waitress to tell us sorry they are out of dough. And that was at 7:30 at night not like 10 o'clock at night. Then we order breakfast one way they bring it another. No complementary bottles of water, no coffee in the room the phone in the room doesn't work the make up mirror is falling off the wall, the shower soap doesn't work and they don't give you extra bars so you're stuck without soap in the shower. And now I'm finally trying to leave only to find out the elevators aren't working for 30 minutes because they're doing an inspection but of course no one bothered to tell customers about. So I am stuck in my room instead of getting to the hospital where I'm supposed to be. I have talked with the manager for the past 24 hours and only thing he did to try to make all this right was give me a couple free bottles of water and a coupon for a free, lousy breakfast that wasn't even right like I ordered it wow I have never stayed at such a horribly run property in my life and I will never ever recommend a Kimpton Hotel to anyone. read more

My friend and I stayed here for a night and it was great! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel has an old style, so if you're looking for something super new / modern /minimalist, then this isn't the spot for you. But if you're looking for a spot that has history, character and a lot of details, this is the spot! Theoom was spacious, clean and beautiful. This hotel is also conveniently located near a bunch of great restaurants which are all walking distance or a quick 5min uber ride. Would definitely stay here again. read more

This hotel truly rocks. After a mix up with my scheduling of the room, I essentially arrived without a reservation, tired & all the way from cleveland. Totally my fault, but they took care of it! No questions asked. Through this I learned what a high quality company Kimpton is, as I could have been majorly screwed over. (Also I learned to pay better attention when making hotel reservations). Anyways, the building is stunning with high, vaulted ceilings and marble everywhere. You have to go to the second floor to reach the lobby. From 5-6 is a complimentary wine/champagne hour in the cozy room off the lobby that has a fireplace and a bunch of comfy seating. In the mornings the same area has a self serve coffee bar. The hotel as a chain is 100% pet friendly, which is important to someone whose 4 legged child travels a lot with her. Unfortunately my dog didn't join this time but this is great to know for next time!! The room was gorgeous. The bed was perfectly comfy. My first experience with Kimpton was phenomenal. read more

The accommodations at this hotel for the price were phenomenal. As soon as you walk into the hotel you are greeted by beautiful marble staircases and a chandelier. A quick ride up the escalator and you are in the hotel lobby which is equally beautiful. Everyone we dealt with at the checkin desk were pleasant and accommodating. We were also informed about "wine hour" in the lobby from 5-6pm. This made me extremely happy. We checked in to the room and I went back down to the lobby to get in on this wine hour action. The girl pouring was very friendly and assured me I could take the free wine back up to my room. She also gave me a glass for my husband. We got a room with 2 queen beds because our 2 kids were with us on this trip. The room was beautiful! Super high ceilings, a barn-esque sliding door to close the bathroom off, and an overall clean, high class look. Probably one of the nicest hotels I ever stayed in and again the price was beyond reasonable. The only downside was the AC unit kept kicking in at random times throughout the night and it was sort of loud. When it wasn't running it got warm in the room. This was the only downfall, but it is an old building so I didn't let it hurt my review star-wise. If we ever go back to Baltimore, this will be our hotel of choice!! I had screwed up a reservation at another hotel and was able to get a last-minute booking at the Monaco. When we checked-in we were met by Mone't who checked us in a took great care of us. These folks are awful. I would never stay here again. From the general manager on down these folks have no idea of hotel service. No room service no invoices, harassing guests in the hallways, the worst. I've stayed here a number of times and this was the last. There are plenty of other options in Baltimore who deserve our business. read more

Our room was extremely large with two massive windows. It was comfortably large. But I feel the room was a bit too large with furniture that is too small. The AC was super loud too. If you're a light sleeper, then you may need ear plugs. Pros: -Free fast wifi - Complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner. -About a 5-10 minute walk to Inner Harbor. - Complimentary coffee/ tea in the morning and wine in the late afternoon. Cons: -Fridge filled with for soft drinks and liquor that you would pay for. - You can't use the fridge to store your own drinks. they provide an ice bucket though. - I'm all for complimentary shampoo/ conditioner/ body wash but they were stored in the corner of the shower and difficult to reach for a shorter person such as myself. Oh and they need to be sure each container is filled. I found the body wash was empty. Our conjoined room next door was out of shampoo. read more

I have been staying at this property for years, always a pleasant experience, with friendly, courteous staff. Housed in the former, historic B&O Railroad station; this property is lovely and spacious. Rooms are spacious and clean; beds are comfortable, with wonderful linens and plush, plentiful towels. Kumar, Melody, and Skyler (sp?) at front desk are accommodating. Rebecca is personable, professional, and follows through re: requests. Kiesha (sp?) is a breath of fresh air and has a great sense of humor! There is a complimentary "happy hour" each evening, serving good red and white wines - sometimes other libations are offered. Complimentary coffee begins at 6am. Friendly, 24 hour valet service; Goma (sp?) is a gem! I am here re: family members' surgeries; the Kimpton Monaco and its team go above and beyond - much appreciated, especially when dealing w so much stress! The Kimpton Monaco Hotel is a regal structure: a decidedly Beaux Arts sensibility on the outside, Art Deco homages peppered on the inside and the chaises longue in the lounge have that "Summer of Love" colour palette and patterning to them. Indeed, like Baltimore, the Monaco throbs between the past and the present, and is an experience I recommend everyone have. My room was spacious, handsomely appointed and had a breathtaking view of the city. However, this review is more a shout out to the lovely and warm Ms. Tamika who helped this fool out with his phone charger problems, answered all my silly questions and generally has A Presence about her that inspires instant trust. Putting aside our botched room-service, and the faint urine smell near the elevators, our Hotel Monaco stay will our last. After a valet damaged my car, I had to wait for 109 days before Hotel Monaco would decide if they were going accept responsibility. It took over two weeks before anyone relevant would speak to me on the matter. Once contact was finally established, conversation was so poor that I had to rely on constant follow-up phone calls, emailing and even texting, just to keeping this conversation from being entirely ignored. Literally, after months went by, I finally decoded the confusing interworking of the hotel and its valet service. On day 78, I took my new expertise and reached out to the last person I would speak to on the matter. By day 109, I received a letter in the mail finally said "no." It's my understanding that Hotel Monaco is under relatively new management, this hotel is no longer a good place to spend your money. If you ever find yourself your stay to be unsatisfactory and need their help, calibrate your expectations now! read more

This was my first time staying at a Kimpton Brand Hotel. I signed up for Kimpton Karma Rewards when making my reservation. First, the hotel is gorgeous with the historic decor in the hotel entrance area (1st floor) and lobby area (2nd floor). To check-in, you must walk in and either walk the marble steps up or hop on the elevator (the set on the left-right side elevators say staff only) to the 2nd floor. The rooms start on the 7th floor and go up to 14 I believe. Hotel was Valet parking only and I think $40 something per night, so we opted to park two blocks away across from Royal Farms arena in a parking deck that allowed overnight parking for less than $20/night. Wasn't too bad of a walk, but would not be ideal in inclement weather. Was in-town for work and we had a group (probably 40 people) stay onsite. I think everyone had varying experiences, but many mirrored mine. Staff were friendly at check-in, though my coworker and I asked to be on the same floor (checked in together) and were told one booked a King, the other booked a double and that it would create chaos in the system basically to switch the bed types or floors. Okay, whatever not that big of a deal (though was a simple fix that didn't get resolved). As a Karma Rewards member I got a $10 mini bar credit to use for in-room products or at the restaurant bar. You just have to remember to turn it in at check-out to get the credit. Okay, so finally on to the rooms. Elevators were clean, free of any smells, relatively quick, and most importantly secure, as you must enter your key card then push the floor to access room floors). Got to floor 10 and was pleased how clean, open, and spacious the hallways were (especially after staying at another hotel nearby a few months prior with cramped hallways). Upon entering the room, I was delighted how clean it was and much like the hallways, rather spacious. The bathroom was nice with marble floors. Barn style door to close off the bathroom, which personally I was cool with, but I know many don't like that style. Pros and cons in the bathroom though. PROS: full-sized in-shower toiletries offered, magnifying vanity mirror (Yaass!), shower only (because like who really uses a tub in a hotel these days). CONS: marble floor can be a bit slick when wet (especially with the thin towel to be used as a bath mat, which can slide when you step on it getting out of the shower), half glass door/window toward the front of the shower so no actual door to close (fine, but water can easily splash out onto the floor and again make it slick or slippery), my in-shower body wash dispenser was empty my ENTIRE 5 day stay, despite leaving a written note for housekeeping asking for it to be replaced and calling downstairs 2x. A non-uniformed (just plain black clothes, no name tag, or hotel monogrammed clothing) male 'housekeeper' tended to my request for body wash by bringing me two extra soaps and shampoo and conditioner. Not sure if this was a miscommunication or lack of care or what, but it's a good thing I had bought my own toiletries to begin with. AND when I left a handwritten note for housekeeping with what I needed specifically, the note was gone when I returned to my room that day-yet no supplied. WTH?! Also, there was always only one face cloth left, but plenty of towels and hand towels, which was perplexing. Bed/mattress was obviously worn and way too soft. My back was hurting daily. Those in my group were about 50/50 between too soft or too hard, but 100% that it wasn't the best bed in either situation. TV had a good amount of channel variety and no issues at all. There was a fridge which served as the 'mini-bar' which was stocked with top shelf liquor, soda, beer, and tea. There was also a snack drawer below it. There was a pricing sheet inside the door, and the prices were outrageous, but certainly for convenience (i.e. $4 for a soda, $6 for a Snickers bar). Remember though, I had a $10 credit, so I got two drinks out for 'Free.' I had bought a few drinks with me, but they pack the small fridge with their crap to buy, so it's truly no room to put personal food or drinks. Also shocked there was no microwave in-room for the price point. This wouldn't be an issue for a 1-2 day stay, but 5 nights...too long without basic amenities IMO. Other amenities offered included yoga mat in every room. Sure it was...for $45 LOL. They also advertise the Guppy Companion program (goldfish in your room). Well, I wanted to get a feel of the Kimpton experience since it was my first. Called for a goldfish just to be told they had run out. If anything, I laughed because there truly were no amenities. Like how many goldfish do they even have on hand? I did see bicycles in the lobby (another amenity), but schedule didn't really allow time for that anyway. There is a daily in-lobby wine happy hour which was just okay, just wine no snacks like most. Hope some of these easy improvements are acknowledged and next experience is better! read more

I stayed here for a couple of days as an away from, but close to home staycation. It was highly rated on the reservation website and the suite had all the amenities necessary for hiding away in luxuriating laziness. It's located in a rather "busy" neighborhood so, when I arrived, parked in the garage and rode the elevator up to street/hotel building entrance level I became a little anxious. But, once inside the ambience improved and, once I ascended up to the hotel lobby level I was completely transported. The fireplace in the lounge was my favorite and the complementary wine hour was a cherry on top. My suite was super spacious with separate sitting room bedroom and humongous bathroom complete with spa bath and shower also separated. I would have liked to have been on a higher floor but I'm sure I would have been accommodated in that manner had I asked. I was satisfied with social distancing and sanitation protocols. Although, my suite could have been dusted better. read more

I've never stayed at a Kimpton hotel until I booked this one for a little getaway in Baltimore. If this is any indication of what Kimpton offers at their other properties, count me as hooked!! We loved it!!! In fact, this is the nicest hotel I've stayed at since we spent time at a converted palace in Prague! Everything about this place is just incredible! The building is impressive as a transformed historical landmark. From the moment you arrive, you're made to feel welcome. We never encountered anyone who was anything but gracious and helpful - the front desk staff, the valets, the servers, every single person made our time there as enjoyable as it could be. The room was sizeable, incredibly comfortable, luxurious, and well appointed. The bedding was a delight with super soft sheets, the most amazing pillows (wish I had those at home), great temperature control, with a bathroom that exceeded expectations. And if you're feeling like you want to turn it up a notch, grab one of the leopard print robes in the closet. And it's QUIET! I never heard a single noise from the hallway, next door rooms, or street. The "living room" off the lobby is gorgeous with a two sided fireplace, sofas, comfy seating and hosts a wine happy hour from 5:00-6:00 every night. All included. You can even grab a snack there like pizza during happy hour. Great place to start your evening. They even have complimentary bicycles to lend. It's a great location and walkable to pretty much everything you want to see and do. And if you want to bar hop in Fells Point, like we did, it's only a $5-$6 Lyft ride away. On top of all that, it's dog friendly. They even have a welcoming water bowl and bed for your pooch in the lobby. Do yourself a favor. Forget those run of the mill hotel chains nearby. This place is nearly the same price. This is where you want to stay. Book it. You'll be glad you did! read more

There are huge windows, that you can sit at and enjoy the view from, but not all rooms have them and the suites are smaller compared to other hotels in the area. It's located in the inner harbor area, but you dont get a view of the harbor like you would if you stayed at Hyatt or Sheraton. read more

I celebrated my man's 30th birthday here. It's a perfect location to be able to hit the bars with great pricing! I stayed in the luxury suite with spa and city view. It was so relaxing, spacious, clean, and the concierge was great. Since the restaurant and bar were closed (due to COVID), the staff offered bottles of wine, whiskey, and other drinks behind the Lobby Desk. In addition, I know that COVID has taken Valet services out of reality but the hotel parking garage was underground across the street. It wasn't far, just chilly! read more

The front desk representative told that no room were available us and they didn't know when there would a availability. They gave my room to someone else. The hotel is really beautiful and is in a good location since it is walking distance from the inner harbor, which is super convenient. Our only complaint was that details in our particular room were not so clean....and were probably easy to clean if housekeeping actually looked and did a more thorough job cleaning. Marks on the walls, strange residue (gross) on the bathroom door, and a broken toilet paper roll holder which was actually sharp and snagged my finger. The door to our mini fridge was marked up and gross too - again super easy to clean if they had just looked at it. However, the service was so good and everyone was so nice that it bumped up our experience to 4 stars. Management comped our in room dining and apologized for the lack of cleanliness. We also liked that the hotel rooms are only accessed with room keys because lets be honest - some not so great areas in Baltimore.... Small things could really improve this hotel - coffee machine in the room or complimentary water - because who wants to pay $9 for water?? But still - 4 stars because of the service. Firstly, I booked this hotel through American Express because for specific reasons they gave me a special rate. That is irrelevant. When I first arrived I was informed that there was no parking and the valet was not included with the hotel. I'd never experienced this and travel all over the place for work. I finally got upstairs to the concierge and they told me that my reservation was for the 28th- the following weekend- I pulled out my confirmation email and explained that everything was indeed correct. I was then informed that I had to call American Express to have them change the reservation on their end. When I did they stated everything was correct on their end. They took the liberty of calling the hotel for me and I finally received a "rush" room. Apparently this happens all the time. I should've been accommodated sooner if this is a recurring issue instead of having to jump through hoops just to get my third party customer service rep to insist the mistake was on the hotels end. The room itself is what we asked for, but had some dirty clothes in the room still and wasn't restocked very well. I've stayed in nicer three star hotels than this one and received way more benefits and amenities for the money! Everything in the room has a price tag (I admit it's not that uncommon) and added to the poor customer service I cannot disdain the place enough! Don't waste your money on such a bad deal from a hotel that skimps out on every comfort you've became used to. Edit: bumped up a star because of Thurston who I talked to the second time and who gave us the room keys. He was polite despite everything and even followed up via text to make sure everything was fine with the room. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Monaco, along with several of our friends, for a wedding weekend in Baltimore. We got a decent room block rate on a lovely room, and had a very pleasant stay. I made our reservation over the phone and found the Kimpton crew friendly and easy to talk to throughout the process. We missed the room block rate for our first night before the couple opened up more rooms, and were able to get the cheaper rate applied without any problem when we called again. I also mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary that weekend (mostly true--it was the Monday), and the hotel sent us a bottle of champagne and a full-on dessert of rich, tasty chocolate peanut butter cakes. The hotel was attractive, definitely renovated but done up in a classically opulent style. I guess the hotel is in the old B & O Railroad building--I must not be the only person who thinks of Monopoly when I hear this, because there were at least a couple Monopoly-related flourishes in the hotel ("Monopolizing My Doom--Do Not Disturb"). It had a historically salient feel that I enjoyed. Our room was comfortable, pretty, and clean, with a nice bed and a decent view--not that we got much use out of that, as we were in for a dim, rainy weekend. The Hotel Monaco was a great place to be stuck, though, when there weren't wedding events going on. We made two visits to the B & O restaurant, and I liked that place a lot, both for food and drink. There was wine in the lobby at happy hour, which we took advantage of at check-in. If the weather were better, the location would've been convenient, but that didn't end up mattering, unfortunately. Staff was pleasant and everything went smoothly overall. I guess cheaper parking would've been nice (something like $37 for overnight), but no real complaints. I'd recommend Hotel Monaco if you're looking for a place to stay in Baltimore. I'll keep it in mind next time we make this trip. read more

Absolutely LOVE the hotel Monaco. My fiancé, our pup, and I got a great rate here of kayak and had a fantastic stay. Not only is the hotel beautiful and very clean it is one of the few places that allows dogs of any size and breed. This hotel is not only DOG Friendly but Dog WELCOMING! They go out of their way to provide your pup with a goodie bag, a dog bed, and dog bowls in the room. All 3 of us were also able to enjoy a wine and snack hour (complementary) when we arrived. There is a park nearby to take your pup for a stroll and several pet friendly bars and restaurants nearby. We also LOVE the hotel restaurant ( B & O American Brasserie). While not pet friendly (it's indoors) they did allow us to order cocktails and a snack from the bar and bring it up to our room (if you are here with out a pup, I strongly recommend going to their happy hour) We had such a great stay we specifically are staying at the new kimpton property on our visit to Cleveland (I'll keep ya posted) read more

Kimpton's just never seem to fail me! This property has to be one of my favorites! It's gorgeous! It was a converted train station, and I can tell you they did it right! The lobby is on the second floor, and you are always greeted with a smile. The staff just makes every Kimpton visit a little nicer. They are so quick to accommodate any needs. I truly appreciate that! The rooms were a nice size with all the amenities! It was tastefully decorated, bright and clean, comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom rocked with a cool open shower and a huge jacuzzi tub! The Monaco has 24 hour room service, and a decent menu to order from. Love the location, we were able to walk down to the ballpark. When I'm back in Bmore this will be my go to hotel! read more

This place is 3 blocks away from Inner Harbor Baltimore, so it was a good location to stay for New Year's Eve. We didn't have to walk far to see the fireworks. We did valet parking since we were staying for the night, the valet parking was $38 (if you do the parking yourself is $30/night). Even on a cold night, someone was there to hold the doors for us and gave us direction to the check in lobby, since the lobby located on the second floor instead of first. The place has the historical design, the stairs to the second floor was long but it wasn't just straight up but it was in a circle style. I was in love with the lights design and even the signs to show the directions. The check in staffs greeted us nicely and helped us through the process smoothly and quickly, I was very satisfied with the service. Our room was on the 10th floor but sadly it wasn't the room that face the front street, instead it was just the back. I am okay with that since the room design was already amazing. read more

I know. I know. Could this hotel really be worth 5 stars?? Yes. Nervous as all get out about staying in Baltimore, I had to find a hotel that had nothing but good reviews. Luckily I work for a big bank and was able to score the bank rate. Knowing that this was on the bank negotiated list, I knew that it would be a good one. And I was right. I haven't experienced hotel services like this before. I would go out on a limb and say that this hotel could be close to comparison with The Ritz. There. I said it. Two totally different styles, however same awesome hospitality, flare, and luxury. This hotel is in a perfect location. Close to the inner harbor, and close enough to walk (a mile...) to the stadium. We arrived and like ninjas, the doormen (like three of them) open our doors and had our luggage out within minutes. We arrived in time for the end of the manager's reception and the bellmen asked me "red or white". 0__0 huh?? Giggling husband said "white" and I was still confused. Apparently the manager's reception was a cocktail hour and the bellman was asking me if I wanted red or white wine. I laughed. "White please" After a LONG arse drive, I was almost in tears as the glorious white wine was handed to me. "hello, you" is what I thought. Check in was a breeze. Up to the room we go with the friendly bellman. Room was AWESOME. Spacious, clean, comfy bed, nice flatscreen, and a GIANT shower....I was in heaven. Every time we left the room, either the cleaning crew or the doormen were asking us if they could help us get to our destination. I felt like a rockstar. I felt like they REALLY were genuine and were just happy that we were happy. We'd leave the hotel, and they would open the doors....smiling. We'd come back and they'd say "hey! it's you two again! welcome back" giving us high fives. I couldn't believe it. Beautiful hotel with a grand marble staircase. It's inside the renovated B&O railroad and I loved it. There is a manager's reception that provides lite bites and wine from 5-6 Mon thru Fri. It's an amazing place and will now be a fan of Kimpton Hotels wherever we go. read more

Customer service was simply ok. At my initial arrival i was hit on by more than one staff member back to back. The valet was the most unprofessional experience. They were cursing each other out and talking about guns. The room was not what i expected from looking at the pictures. The floor was covered in stains, the ceiling was not fully painted and patched up and the carpet was torn up. There was no urgency to ensure the things that you ask or requested to have brought to you made it there. It just never came. They no longer have in room dinning however it's an option in the room so you don't know until you try to call and order. They have a valet button to call for the car but it leads to the front desk and the front desk will say that it's against policy to call for the car. The valet is extremely slow. We waited no less than 15min every time to get our car and sometimes longer. For the price of the rooms i expected better. I have stayed at hotels on a lower scale and received better service. read more

This is long overdue review. Like at least a year. But better late than never, I always say. Upon walking into the hotel, you barely remember that you are still in Baltimore. Statement staircases, marble flooring, grand lighting and a rich sense of style make this Kimpton boutique hotel just as posh as all the others. I have stayed overnight in 4 Kimpton hotels including 1 in Washington, D.C. and 2 in New York City. All were stellar but the visual appeal of this hotel is memorable. Maybe because you can tell the building is one that was build perhaps in the '60s or '70s but given the modern touches it has great modern appeal with great historic "bones". The wine happy hour is quaint and the wine selections are appealing for those who like white, red, dry or sweet. The room definitely had a moderate upscale presence. Light and pristine bedding. Thread count is apparent in the sheets and they are so endearing to the skin. I just melted in the pillows and there were several of them for me to get lost in the clouds of softness. Spacious bathroom and a shower that has great power stream of water. Great attention noted to the updated and contemporary design. Clean lines but great flow of colors that are not too obnoxious or overpowering with each other. I have nothing negative to say about my stay here. Whenever in Baltimore again, this will definitely be a first choice for me. read more

I can't believe for all the times I have stayed at this gorgeous hotel I've yet to do a review. This one is long overdue and since I stayed here again last week I figured now is the time. This hotel is stunning and at one time was the headquarters for B&O Railroad. I have stayed at quite a few Kimpton properties (to include numerous Monaco's) and the entrance to the Baltimore Monaco may be the most beautiful. The staff...everything you would expect from a Kimpton Property....Valet, Check-In, Housekeeping, etc...all go above and beyond to ensure that you are satisfied and enjoy the Kimpton experience. This is what truly sets Kimpton's apart from all others. Caitlin was awesome and it was so nice of her to send along my welcoming gift too. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious too...the beds are extremely comfortable...the bathrooms huge and very modern. They also have a decent exercise room that does the trick.... read more

Let's talk about the pros first- Very cool, historic building. The entryway was stunning in its regality. This was obviously the epitome of elegance in its heyday and through its use as a rail-station. The rooms were spacious and the mattress was comfy. If you like a well-cooled room, this hotel will not disappoint. The location cannot be beat, especially if you need access to Royal Farms Arena (less than 5 min walk). The concierge provides a number of necessities should you forget anything. Finally, If you're feeling lonely you can ask to borrow their house gold-fish, which will be brought to your room to keep you company. Cons: no fitted sheets and sparse bedding. If I didn't have my man next to me, I would have frozen my tush off. The pillows were a bit limp. The whole place could use a facelift. It's old looking, but not in a rustic nor quant way. Finally, I was peeved by some billing issues that I am still waiting to be resolved... oh yeah- and no free wifi? Some in-between: The mini fridge was well stocked with a variety of wine, liquor, champagne, soda, and water and there was a drawer of assorted snacks. All of these, however, were costly (but perhaps no more costly than the average). Ask for extra towels at concierge: the showers are walk-in and have no lip, so you might sacrifice a towel or two to sop up water. read more

We did not have a good experience. The valet is right off of a busy street and it's $40 to park overnight. The receptionist had no idea where else to park in the area. We got to our rooms and there are no blankets or comforters on the bed. We asked for extra blankets and they gave us this one which had vulgar dirt/stains over the entire blanket. The Kimpton Monaco is easily my favorite hotel in Baltimore. Located in the opulent former headquarters of a Gilded Age railway company, the Monaco has perhaps the most beautiful lobby in all of Baltimore, resplendent with carved marble, original stained glass and plaster moulding. The staff is always courteous and conversational (especially at the complimentary wine and snack hour), the rooms are elegant but laid-back, the soaps and toiletries are perfectly adequate, pets are encouraged with no fee - I can't imagine a hotel better suited to my escapades here in Baltimore.
