Stopped in at 12 pm the place was packed. Parking lot configuration is weird in the front, roll around the back there is plenty of spaces. When you open the door everyone in the place looks right at you. The wait was average for a lunch time. The place is very 50's and so is the music. When your order is up they bang a bell! I could hear people chatting,the jukebox,and shakes being made all at the same time. There was a buzz of movement within the small space. The menu is consistent with what was available in the era (Burgers, steak fingers, hit dogs... Etc). I had a 1/3 burger and fries. The beef was real, juicy,and delishes. The bun was not too thick but just right. The fries were fresh and the seasoning made them pop. I couldn't eat it all but it was too good to waste...so I doggie bagged it. Sean had a double burger and fries. Sean is a big guy and he struggled to finish his burger and we agreed a 1/3 burger would have been the way to go. We didn't realize they wouldn't skimp with the meat like other places do. Tasha was our waitress and she was sweet. She acknowledged us and checked on us often. Been wanting to come here for a long time but it's always been out of my way to do so. Not today. Finally was able to stop here for lunch while I was doing other business nearby. Let's just say this place exceeded my expectations on every level. The food was great! Service was excellent. The staff are very friendly. The place is clean and very retro. Probably one of the most retro hamburger places I've been to and I've been to a few. I can't imagine this place having less than 5 stars. If I could give it more I would. While on an outing in Waco my sister suggested we hope over to Kim's Diner for a burger and a milkshake, and boy am I proud she did. Kim's is a classically stylized 1950's diner right down to a life-size 'rock'n Elvis' cutout greeting you the moment you walk in the door. The menu is authentic Americana at its 1950's peak. We love Kim's. My son always asks to go. He loves the milkshakes and burgers. I love the chef salad. It's huge and the lettuce and toppings are cut so fine. The ranch dressing is incredible! This is a very unique diner. The motif is the 50's. After I sat down in my red and white booth people started to come in. It looks like they are ALL in the 70-80 age group. Except for the young family that sat right behind me. This older group were ragging on each other between the Cubs and the Indians. They sounded like they were serious baseball fans. My waitress is a very kind and soft spoken young lady. I ordered the Chicken Fried steak dinner with 2 sides. I got the okra and fries along with a DietDr. Pepper fountain drink. I did not like this place under previous management, so I was nervous coming back even after hearing a Facebook friend rave about this place for its chicken fried steak. But I was lured in. They had a special for $6.99, so I ordered it. Trouble was, I was halfway through the meal when I realized I was eating a chicken fried chicken. I got mad, until I looked at the specials board and realized today's special WAS the chicken fried chicken! Nevertheless, it was so good that I did not notice the difference until I was almost done. The breading was spot on--crispy, moist and not gummy or greasy. The tater tots were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The cream gravy was not too salty or gloppy. Solid Diner Food. You'd think your mom was in back cooking it up, and staff was friendly. Three stars because it wasn't anything you couldn't make at home, BUT stuff is always better when someone else makes it!! Maybe it's because you don't have to do dishes, or maybe I'm just that lazy! Restaurant could use a good sweep and deep clean maybe, but it wasn't at all in a spot where I felt like it was unsanitary. Hash browns could be brought up to a little more crispy brown level, but eggs were cooked well and didn't taste like large batch garbage you find in a lot of places. The restaurant is impeccably decorated with period antiques. It is covered top to bottom with red and white checkered aesthetics. There is coca cola everything- from the ceiling fans to the napkin holders. The one thing lacking at the place is unfortunately the service. Excellent 50's diner. I've wanted to eat at this place ever since I was a kid and never got around to doing it. My wife and I decided to stop in for dinner after seeing a movie. I had the chicken fried steak dinner and she had steak fingers. We also both had chocolate malts. The malts were amazing, the food was delicious, and the service was great. There's not really anything healthy on the menu, so be prepared for that. Proportions were more than generous, so come hungry. It was your average diner food, but they had a good variety to choose from. I had a cheese burger and onion rings. The rings were a little over cooked, but the burger was great. I recommend the cheese burger, the chicken fingers (but with a different dipping sauce other than gravy), and the patty melt. Go for the tots not the fries or onion rings. Cute --- But... Food sucked. Yes it's 100% beef but it's a frozen patty, very similar to what you'd get at Walmart in the frozen section. Normally enough seasoning would make them decent. No seasoning at all. Fries were the only thing good. Husband had chicken fried steak sandwich and it was so bland he has to at Heinz 57 to give it flavor. The waitress even asked if our food was good and we said it didn't have much flavor she then asked well was it at least decent? Haha! So if you are going for a cute diner then go.
