So I finally made it to Kim's café, I tried getting there a couple of years ago on my road trip back from Florida, but it was pouring rain and I sat in front of the place for a half hour and the rain did let up so I couldn't get in... Today. I had an umbrella and it absolutely was pouring 10 minutes before I got there but the rain stopped. I sat down and ordered my favorite breakfast, shrimp and grits, which was so delicious, I told the waitress when I went to pay my bill, they were bussin, she, and the chef thought that that was was quite comical...

Stopped by Kim's Cafe on my last day of a weekend trip to Savannah. When we arrived, we were greeted and the staff let us know that we could sit at any open table. The restaurant is filled with beautiful murals and paintings. Upon finding a table to sit at, it took a little while for a server to come take our drink and food orders, but that was the only downside to our experience. We ordered the salmon, egg, and cheese sandwich and the fish and grits and everything was delicious! You could tell they put a lot of care and attention in the food they serve. It did take a little bit of time for our food to come out, however, there are signs in the restaurant noting that food prep isn't "fast", so that was appreciated. Next time I'm back in town, I'll definitely make it a point to grab another meal here.

Cute little gem and the food was delicious! The service was nice. The atmosphere was very calm and they have amazing art work located on the walls. The food was cooked to order and was hot. I ordered the BLT club sandwich with fries and the chicken Philly with fries and neither of them disappointed. 10/10 I do recommend.

I dined at Kim's cafe today. The food was so delicious. I had the stewed Turkey wings, the meat was falling off the bone tender, the macaroni and cheese was delicious and the yams were like pie. The dinner was serve with a cornbread muffin and warm hospitality. The dining room is painted black and decorated in beautiful colorful art. It's clean, it's cool and it's the place to be if you love soul food. The choices are endless, from oxtails to fried chicken and everything in between. They even had a great variety of desserts. I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures when the food arrived. I'll be back soon and I'll add photos of the delicious soul cuisine.

Food was AMAZING!! I'll definitely return. But next time it will be TAKEOUT! The understaffed cafe really hurt the food industry. Two people to service over 10 people. And our waitress was definitely new. Not customer-oriented. She didn't check on us not once since dropping off our food. Ordered waffles & asked for syrup & butter. Nothing delivered. I got up to request both. By the time, we got those items, food was cold. Lost flavor & appetite. Myself, I had liver & onions. That food was fresh & hot. DELICIOUS!! I'll just stick with takeout & enjoy more delicious meals. Overall the atmosphere was great. Love the decor & African artwork throughout the restaurant. Definitely patronize Kim's Cafe. And cut them so slack if the service isn't best. But the food is definitely worth it!!

I loved the stewed turkey wings, they reminded me of the oxtail by the color, they were so full of flavor and the sides were equally as amazing.

Really enjoyed Sunday dinner here at Kim's Cafe! It made up for my meal from Saturday. I had the Ox Tails, Mac & Cheese, Collards and Okra & Tomato's. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The dark gravy on the Ox Tails threw me off just a little bit it didn't alter the taste at all. Mac was cheesy and greens were well seasoned even without any meat in them. My favorite dish, almost anywhere I go, is Okra and these didn't disappoint. Dining Room was peaceful, clean and not crowded for a Sunday. Our server was kind and attentive. Overall it was a great experience!

They are famous, seen in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. They have memorabilia and historical décor on the walls. But out midday weekday experience was not thrilling. We went for the all-breast-meat Chicken club sandwich. Fresh lettuce. Thick ripe tomato slices. Plenty of crispy tasty bacon. But the chicken was flavorless and on the dry side, with some tough bites that meant careless trimming. How about corned-beef hash eggs-Benedict with grits and a biscuit? The hash was dry. The grits were ok but ordinary. The biscuit was doughy and flavorless. If we were too late for freshly-made hash, they shouldn't have served them. We obviously weren't thrilled Well, they clearly do care enough to reply! I guess we all have off days. Yeah, i'll try them again.

It came with a pickle juice shooter that at first sounded a little weird, but was actually tasty. We started with fried green tomatoes. They were definitely different than any I had ever had. First it was tempura. YAY! Most are cornmeal and the texture is weird. These were so good. It came with a pimento cheese topper. It was my first time having pimento cheese and I loved it! I had the grilled apple pie chicken sandwich. I was a little worried it would be super sweet but it was not. It was perfectly balanced. My husband had the Treylor Park Pot Pie. It was a chicken pot pie burrito/chimichanga. My husband loved the collard greens and loved his meal. All in all we enjoyed our meal and will go back next time we are in Savannah.

I ordered the footlong hot dog, and it was one of the most unique hot dogs I've ever had. Instead of serving it on one bun, they split it across two buns with different toppings on each half. One side was topped with sloppy joe, while the other had chili and relish. It was a fun idea that let you enjoy two different flavor combinations in one meal. It also came with a generous portion of crispy waffle fries, which were excellent. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food, and the prices were very reasonable, fitting the casual diner vibe. My only real criticism was the speed of service. There were only three occupied tables when we visited, yet it took about 35 minutes for the first plate to arrive. The last person at our table didn't receive their meal until nearly 45 minutes after we ordered, which seemed unusually slow for how quiet the restaurant was. The other thing worth mentioning is that the menu varies quite a bit between locations. This restaurant's menu is heavily focused on breakfast. While the food itself was good, it would be nice if the menus were more consistent across locations. Having to research which location serves which items takes away from the convenience of a unified brand. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would definitely return for a quick lunch. The food was tasty, reasonably priced, and the creative footlong hot dog alone is worth trying.

Every ingredient complemented the next, creating the perfect balance of savory, smoky, cheesy, and just a subtle kick from the jalapeño. We also got the tobacco syrup on the side, which added a unique sweet-and-savory contrast that tied everything together beautifully. I also loved their ordering concept. You place your order at the counter first, grab a seat, and then the staff brings everything out to your table. It's efficient without feeling rushed, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly and welcoming. On this visit, we sat outside, and while the outdoor seating does expose you to nature and some insects, the restaurant does fan the area well, even offering table top fans to keep the flies away. The entree I ordered was overall decent, a crab cake Benedict with a side salad - I'm confident if I lived in the area I would find a standard go-to order that would be even better. It was accompanied by a Savannah banana iced coffee which truly hit the spot on a warm day. While the restaurant does have its own parking lot, it does appear to fill up quickly - there's plenty of paid parking available around the park, and for our purposes it gave us a good reason to walk around the park before our meal, and again to walk off our lunch afterwards. Pricing is reasonable at about $25 per person, obviously it can get much pricier depending on whether you're just stopping in or you're making a longer experience of your visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant, more so for the experience than the food alone.. but the food is pretty good too.
