Mom enjoyed her po boy. Said it was very good. My daughters LOVED the Mac n cheese and really it was delicious. I may have stolen a couple bites. We also enjoyed a couple tiki drinks during happy hour. Strong and good. The service was good overall. And it's a nice looking restaurant. I did not like that for a family of four they wanted us at high tops. By my little one was asleep for a bit and then just sat on our laps. As a short person I hate high tops. read more

We had an excellent experience until we encountered the management. We visited Savannah for the first time and eat out frequently while traveling. Our Uber driver highly recommended Sorry Charlie's, so we decided to give it a try. Our first visit was genuinely pleasant, which is why we came back. However, our second visit was ruined by an encounter with the manager. This person was extremely rude and dismissive--I'm genuinely shocked she works in the service industry. We arrived for dinner and were told there would be a 10-20 minute wait, which we agreed to. After approximately 20 minutes, the manager stormed across the restaurant and yelled at us as if we were children, demanding we not stand by the hostess stand. We had never been instructed to wait elsewhere. My wife reacted as anyone would have and expressed her frustration. The manager then escalated the situation, exchanged words with us, and ultimately kicked us out while threatening to call the police. Hoping to resolve things professionally, I returned the next morning to have a mature conversation about the incident. The manager's response was condescending: "You guys are brave coming back in here." This unprofessional comment from management spoke volumes. The food quality is excellent and the staff is great, but this manager is a significant problem. She is unsuited for customer service and needs to find work elsewhere. read more

This restaurant sits right on one of Savannah's busiest tourist streets, anchored by an eye catching neon sign. Sorry Charlie, but this experience was pretty average. The restaurant was absolutely packed, and it was clear when I ordered the Oysters Rockefeller and asked if the jalapeños could be left off (their version has bacon, cheese, shrimp, kale and jalapeños) it was a "premix". Makes sense for efficiency, but anyone with a dietary or allergy restriction wouldn't have that option. Presentation also had a lack of personal touch. A friend and I each ordered a half dozen oysters, and instead of serving them separately, both orders arrived together on one large platter, but he was seated several people down the table, so we ended up placing the tray in the middle and reaching across. When I asked for another plate to separate them, there seemed to be some confusion and I was simply given an extra small plate instead. Everything was just "okay". One friend ordered the shrimp and grits and really enjoyed it, and the drinks arrived quickly and service was fast in general. Unfortunately, the low point was a friend ordered a half dozen raw oysters, but they didn't arrive until the rest of us had completely finished our meals and were asking for the check. Thankfully he had also ordered a po' boy sandwich, because otherwise he would have been sitting there hungry. To make matters worse, the oysters that finally arrived didn't taste especially fresh, and at $22 for a half dozen, they were hard to justify. Our server was friendly, but throughout the meal she had to be reminded of several items we'd ordered, almost as if we were placing the order a second time. On a positive note, the rooftop bar upstairs was a nice surprise and probably ended up being my favorite part of the visit. Overall, it felt like a restaurant designed for volume and convenience in a tourist-heavy area. Plenty of people seem to enjoy it, and I can see why it's popular. Our experience didn't live up to the hype. If I'm looking for seafood in Savannah, I'll probably explore other options next time. Glad they have covers for the patio when it rains. read more

Friendly and accommodating service both on the first floor pub and on the 4th floor roof deck. Location is perfect in Ellis Square. Uh oh! Two smash burger reviews in a row. Let's go! We stopped into Sorry Charlie's last weekend on a Saturday during the busiest time of the day, so I'll give them some grace for a couple of things. We sat on the rooftop where the servers sorta just come find you to get your order. It did take us a very long time to get a server. However, once we did she was a delight. The food was amazing. I came here because I saw that they did $1 happy hour oysters and it was just amazing. Such great quality oysters and menu options had plenty to choose from if oysters were not your thing. I also ordered a she crab bisque and it was bursting in flavors! Great spot central located also. It was close to my hotel as well as many other hotels. Easy walk. Friendly servers and quick too. I am not a brunch guy and never have been. But Sorry Charlie's may have changed my negative view of brunch. It was fantastic and strongly recommended. We opted to sit on the open air rooftop,which is super casual and offers wonderful views of Savannah from three directions. The bloody Mary's were spicy, bracing, and the ideal way to kickstart the day, with candied bacon, pickled okra, and in my case a freshly grilled prawn. But the food was what really shined. Everything was fantastic: chicken and waffles (perfectly executed waffles and perhaps the best piece of chicken ever), the chicken biscuit (same elevated chicken breast on a light and hot biscuit with a perfect egg and the same candied bacon), and an extremely well executed plate of bacon and eggs (with magical home fries). Service was super, with even Chef Jeff coming out of the kitchen and sharing some of his secrets about how he makes the chicken so addictive. A shout out also for the oysters, which were fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced. Sorry Charlie"s is a gem, and has forced me to reconsider by previously negative view of brunch as an institution. read more

By the time my friends got back to me about dinner plans for the night, all my choices were booked up. So, we wandered around the waterfront area, looking for a spot we could walk into. Sorry Charlie's had a 20 min wait and it was pretty packed at 7:30, so we hung around outside watching the skate freaks until our table was ready, about 35 min later. The menu is packed with every seafood option you can imagine. I had the She-Crab soup and some Fried Green Tomatoes, two dishes that I can't get at home. The soup was amazing. It was perfectly creamy and balanced with a generous serving of crab and not overly salted. The FGT were some of the best that I've had. They were crunchy, but tender in the middle with zero grease and a light dollop of sauce on top. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich which was simple, but perfectly seasoned on soft pillowy bread. I had a Blackberry Bramble and she had a Georgia Peach Spritz and they were both delightful. This was our first stop on a weekend trip to Savannah and it was a hit! We arrived for happy hour and tried a number of great appetizers: smoked oysters, boiled peanuts and hush puppies. Anytime my wife & I come to Savannah we always go to Sorry Charlie's for some oysters, beer & some entrees. This time around we came up from our home on St. Simons Island to attend the Journey concert on 5/31/26. We got to Sorry Charlie's about 5:30 PM on a Saturday & the main bar area was already full. We went to the area where they shuck the oysters and we greeted by the shuckers by giving each of us a freshly shucked Bull River oyster. They are awesome! Thank you for the sample. Our server Bill was there about a minute after the shuckers gave us our sample and provided awesome service! We had the St. James oysters as well as the Bull River oysters along with the Manhattan Clam Chowder (red not creamy) and some peel & eat shrimp along with some ice cold Miller Lite drafts! Our expectations were very high for sorry Charlie's after reading all the reviews. It was pretty busy on a Thursday night but the wait wasn't terribly long. We started with the oyster which were extremely under whelming. They were also pretty small but of course it happens. We asked for crackers but they never came. No biggie. We finally got our food and were a little disappointed with the portion sizes for the price of the meal. The pasta had plenty of sauce but not noodles. The snapper was a little smaller than expected. The seafood risotto was good not great. If we went back, I do recommend the steak frites. It was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, and well worth the price. A fun venue with a rooftop bar & restaurant. The menu is small so preview before you go. This is more of a location-based restaurant rather than a food-forward restaurant. We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and sat on the rooftop. They were busy initially but it did fill up fast. It took a while for our waitress to come over and take our drink order. Once we placed our drink order, my coffee came out lukewarm and no cream as requested. It then took a while to place our food order. My friend's food came out at a reasonable time, mine never came. We asked two times about the food and they kept saying it was coming. After my friend finished her food, we spoke with the manager and mine came out a few minutes later The manager made it right but comping our entire meal. I came to Sorry Charlie's to hit up the happy hour. $1 oysters, baby! It seems all the oyster specials are James River oysters, and I am a FAN. I sat at the bar and was immediately welcomed. The bartender made sure I knew the specials and got me some water while I checked it all out. Along with the oysters I ordered a glass of bubbles that was on special for $5. I was surprised when it came out in a coupe glass. Swanky. The cocktail sauce was not homemade and it had a scoop of horseradish atop that didn't pack a punch, but that's ok, it was still tasty. The service was great. The other day we left Huey's on the water, extremely disappointed and told a couple that was debating about going in and we told them about our negative experience we just had and we referred them to you guys. We had stopped in another oyster bar on the river, but unfortunately they were out of oysters. The hostess there said we should try her favorite oyster bar, Sorry Charlie's. She added that they had an awesome happy hour and delicious oysters. So, we hurried on over there to partake in the yumminess. We walked the 9 minute walk and found a table on the covered patio ( we had our dog with us). The patio was very inviting and cool considering how hot it was yesterday. Our server came by promptly and informed us that there are no happy hour specials Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We were disappointed but decided to stay anyway. I ordered a glass of Riesling and a dozen of the Little Princess oysters from Chesapeake Bay, VA They were $34 a dozen. The description on the menu said medium sized, Briny, Sweet, Crisp Finish. They were all except medium sized. The oysters were delicious just very tiny. My husband ordered a beer and an appetizer of boiled peanuts soaked in old bay seasoning with butter and hot sauce. We've eaten here in the past for the oyster bar, and that is five stars all day! On Sunday, we visited the rooftop bar for brunch. The view is spectacular and the drinks excellent. The brunch menu itself is very limited and good if you want something light. The Benedict's were good and the biscuits and jam also good... but, I expected excellent after eating at the Oyster bar on previous trips. I found the biscuits dense and the jam could've been from Smuckers. But the atmosphere, the drinks and our bartender bounces the rating to a 4 star... if you go there thirsty and looking for a nice atmosphere and don't mind just okay food, I recommend the rooftop bar. read more

The chef's selection of eighteen oysters was the perfect way to start the meal, try a mix of everything they have to offer, and pair well with our dirty martinis. We ordered the Po Boy sandwich with a great crunch and bold seasoning. Another standout was the Salmon BLT. The salmon was cooked just right and paired with the BLT. We also tried the steak, which was full of flavor! Additionally, we tried the Cod and Shrimp Tacos. I would honestly pass on the tacos in comparison to the other entrees we tried. What shocked me most was the real star of the table: the Savannah red rice. It was uniquely flavorful, and everyone at the table loved it as a side dish! I liked it and wanted more. The second night, we went again to kill some time before our dinner at the Lady & Sons, to the second floor to the tiki bar where we has a couple of more drinks like a mock lemonade and a banana drink which I don't recall the name.
