A MUST for fresh oyster fans! Pro Tip: Do yourself a huge favor and sit right at the oyster shucking bar. The crew working there is super friendly, entertaining, and there is just something special about having your oysters prepared right in front of the display bar! The entire staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. They do an excellent job of walking you through the different fresh oyster options and offering helpful suggestions from the menu. I highly recommend the oysters, stone crab, and mussels. You honestly can't go wrong here!

I visited here two days in a row while visiting Savannah, encouraged by the kitchen staying open later than other options and good reviews from others. Friendly and accommodating service both on the first floor pub and on the 4th floor roof deck. Location is perfect in Ellis Square. Highlight was a fried oyster poboy - perfectly crispy and fresh - along with flavorful Mac and cheese - rich but not heavy. Probably not the ideal choices right before bed but totally worth it!

Uh oh! Two smash burger reviews in a row. Let's go! We stopped into Sorry Charlie's last weekend on a Saturday during the busiest time of the day, so I'll give them some grace for a couple of things. We sat on the rooftop where the servers sorta just come find you to get your order. It did take us a very long time to get a server. However, once we did she was a delight. The food was amazing. I had half a dozen oysters and the smash burger sliders. It was the perfect little lunch and I even saved a slider for later in the night and it reheated very well!

Always loved this restaurant. Good food, restaurant has good service and fun. The top a little pricey. Service a little slow. Just because its busy. However its good. I'll be back.

Happy hour prices you can't beat! Everything was good! From the oysters to the soup down to the drinks. 4.5 stars!

I am not a brunch guy and never have been. But Sorry Charlie's may have changed my negative view of brunch. It was fantastic and strongly recommended. We opted to sit on the open air rooftop, which is super casual and offers wonderful views of Savannah from three directions. The bloody Mary's were spicy, bracing, and the ideal way to kickstart the day, with candied bacon, pickled okra, and in my case a freshly grilled prawn. But the food was what really shined. Everything was fantastic: chicken and waffles (perfectly executed waffles and perhaps the best piece of chicken ever), the chicken biscuit (same elevated chicken breast on a light and hot biscuit with a perfect egg and the same candied bacon), and an extremely well executed plate of bacon and eggs (with magical home fries). Service was super, with even Chef Jeff coming out of the kitchen and sharing some of his secrets about how he makes the chicken so addictive. A shout out also for the oysters, which were fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced. Sorry Charlie"s is a gem, and has forced me to reconsider by previously negative view of brunch as an institution.

By the time my friends got back to me about dinner plans for the night, all my choices were booked up. So, we wandered around the waterfront area, looking for a spot we could walk into. Sorry Charlie's had a 20 min wait and it was pretty packed at 7:30, so we hung around outside watching the skate freaks until our table was ready, about 35 min later. The menu is packed with every seafood option you can imagine. I had the She-Crab soup and some Fried Green Tomatoes, two dishes that I can't get at home. The soup was amazing. It was perfectly creamy and balanced with a generous serving of crab and not overly salted. The FGT were some of the best that I've had. They were crunchy, but tender in the middle with zero grease and a light dollop of sauce on top. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich which was simple, but perfectly seasoned on soft pillowy bread. I had a Blackberry Bramble and she had a Georgia Peach Spritz and they were both delightful. Service was friendly and efficient.

This was our first stop on a weekend trip to Savannah and it was a hit! We arrived for happy hour and tried a number of great appetizers: smoked oysters, boiled peanuts and hush puppies. These snacks were perfect! The smoked oysters had great flavor and had a wonderful crispy layer of cheese and garlic. I'm typically not a boiled peanut fan but these were also great. They had a wonderful spicy sauce that complimented the soft peanuts. Service was great - very prompt, friendly and attentive during a busy HH.

Had a dozen raw oysters and peel and eat shrimp. Sat outside as it was a nice day. Service was excellent. Nice to have a place that serves oysters with options. They carried four different types to f oysters.

Stopped in just for a quick look and stayed to enjoy happy hour. What $1 st James river oysters and $15 claws. Enjoyed every bit of it too. Can't speak for anything else on the menu but this was a perfect mid day snack.

Anytime my wife & I come to Savannah we always go to Sorry Charlie's for some oysters, beer & some entrees. This time around we came up from our home on St. Simons Island to attend the Journey concert on 5/31/26. We got to Sorry Charlie's about 5:30 PM on a Saturday & the main bar area was already full. We went to the area where they shuck the oysters and we greeted by the shuckers by giving each of us a freshly shucked Bull River oyster. They are awesome! Thank you for the sample. Our server Bill was there about a minute after the shuckers gave us our sample and provided awesome service! We had the St. James oysters as well as the Bull River oysters along with the Manhattan Clam Chowder (red not creamy) and some peel & eat shrimp along with some ice cold Miller Lite drafts! Everything was spot on! As always this place delivers from the service, ambiance and the quality of their food! Thank you again for another awesome experience!

Another solid meal was had. I always make a pit stop in Savannah coming back to Florida from up north. This was my second visit here and it was just like the first time. Service is always quick and attentive. Drinks are solid and delicious. And the seafood is fresh. The crab soup is divine. The roasted Parmesan oysters remind of the ones I've had in New Orleans. Amazing.

5/24/26 - 5 Stars Sorry Charlie's absolutely lived up to the hype. I ordered the blackened salmon, and it was honestly one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had--perfect seasoning, great flavor, and cooked flawlessly. Fresh seafood, great atmosphere, and excellent food all around. If you're in Savannah, this place is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back next trip.

Are children allowed? Is there a kids menu?

Children are allowed but there is no kid menu. The rooftop is not what I would necessarily call "kid friendly"

We are visiting on March 5, 6th 2020 and you guys were recommended by family & friends...what time is happy hour? Do you still have $1 raw oysters & drink specials

This is too late for you, but maybe it can help somebody else: happy hour is 4-6 Monday through Friday.…

Do they have a lunch menu?

Lunch and dinner share the same menu. Pretty good variety with something for almost everyone.

Been here for both dinner and lunch. All this said, I think my approach to this review is comprehensive. With regard to food, I think they have a decent (not expansive) selection of food, which I think lends itself to quality. They do most things really well. This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel. Overall- it's good food, decent ambiance... but there are soooo many good options in Savannah. You have to be exceptional to stand out in that city.

Sitting along the river while watching massive cargo ships slowly make their way toward the Atlantic creates one of those uniquely Savannah experiences you simply can't find anywhere else. Our server, Matthew, was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely made the evening even more enjoyable. Service like his is a big part of what turns a great meal into an unforgettable one. Now, the food... The crab cake was one of the best I've ever had--easily 95% lump crab with barely any filler. Just fresh, sweet crab prepared perfectly. The beef carpaccio was elegant, incredibly flavorful, and disappeared far too quickly. Then came the French onion soup. There's a reason the National Onion Association recognized it as the best. Rich, deeply caramelized, perfectly balanced, and topped with a blanket of bubbling cheese. Without question, the best French onion soup I've ever had. The black truffle scallops were buttery, tender, and absolutely decadent. The evening's special--a blackened filet paired with shrimp linguine--was phenomenal. The filet was cooked to perfection, and the shrimp linguine brought bold Cajun flavors that made us feel like we had been transported straight to Louisiana. To finish it all off, watching enormous cargo ships leave the Port of Savannah bound for destinations around the world while enjoying an incredible meal is an experience all its own. Vic's on the River delivered on every level: exceptional food, first-class service, and an atmosphere that's impossible to duplicate. This wasn't just another dinner--it was one of the highlights of our trip to Savannah. Don't leave without ordering the French onion soup. And if you're lucky enough to have Matthew as your server, you're in for a memorable evening.

The complimentary biscuits were definitely the highlight of the meal. They were warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I asked and was told they'd play it, but then after sitting and ordering I'm told they lost the remote so the game is only on a tiny TV on the opposite side of the bar where there is no high top seating. I wouldn't dock a single star for that though. The reason for the one star is that the food is terrible and grossly overpriced. The lobster soup was the best of all we ordered and it was pretty mediocre. No sherry, cream, nor lobster to be found. The tuna was the worst I've ever had and should not be served. Really I should've sent it back, but my son dug in first and ate two pieces, so I felt bad sending it back. I begrudgingly ate my two pieces while my wife only had one. The deviled eggs had overcooked shrimp and a spec of prosciutto. The crab cake was tiny and mediocre. Finally, the mahi dish was maybe a 3 ounce portion with bits of pineapple scattered around basic orzo pasta. The fact that the majority of the few patrons there all ordered fried chicken and Mac n cheese should've been a hint. The restaurant may be by the water, but they are NOT a seafood restaurant. Oh and they charged me 4 extra dollars for "rocks" since I ordered Bourbon on the rocks. We had a shit meal and two drinks each for $175!!! Truly one of the worst dining experiences that I've ever had.
