If you've ever eaten at Owl Owl, you'll love the more upscale version on 2nd Street. We stopped by for lunch on a Monday and it was pretty dead. The service from the start was friendly. We were given a lunch menu in addition to the regular menu. The lunch menu just adds a soup or salad in addition to the entree. We shared the mild Pad Kee Mao with chicken and love the amount of veggies in this dish. Although we asked for mild, it definetely still had a kick of spice. The salad was fresh topped with a delicious dressing. The Butterfly tea is a must order. It's amazingly pretty and tastes so good. We sat outside and flies can be an issue, but there are mini fans on the table that somewhat helped. Metered parking is available. Overall, this spot still has the same great flavors as the original. The cost was just a bit high at $30 for 1 entree and a drink. Didn't quite feel like lunch special pricing.

We had a great experience at The Second Owl! We were seated right away, and our waitress, Shanon, was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Pad See Ew and the Thai tea. Everything came out fresh and flavorful. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

First time at Second Owl here at Belmont. I've tried Owl Owl in the past in Signal Hill and liked it so was craving for good savory Thai food and decided to stop by Second Owl. I got drunken noodle with crispy pork and sea bass larb take-outs. The drunken noodle was very flavorful, love that wok fire flavor. The crispy pork earned its name and it was crisp to the tip! So crunch, I wish there were more of it. The sea bass larb was full of flavor, fresh, citrusy, paired very well with the shrimp chips. The service was great and it didn't take too long to wait for my food. They also have a restroom for customers only and it's around the corner of the restaurant. Highly recommend!

Beer was great and food was exquisite. Also, the customer service is amazing. Very nice people.

been wanting to try this place for a while and finally came for happy hour! they had such great options to choose from at a great price, too! for the table, I ordered calamari, egg rolls, chicken wings and on the regular menu I got the pad se ew. everything was so good and enough to share! the ambiance is so inviting, especially at night when the lights are dimmed and if you want to enjoy the weather outside they have a patio to enjoy. if your in the area, be sure to check this place out!

The Second Owl seriously hit the spot. Here's the official breakdown of how I'm ranking the dishes we tried. Marry: The pork larb. No hesitation. This was the star. So fresh with lime and herbs, perfectly balanced heat, and the shrimp chips added that perfect crunch. The night before we watched Matty Matheson's Just a Dash and he made larb, which totally sparked my interest! This is the dish I would come back for again and again. F: The pork belly. Crispy on the outside, buttery tender on the inside. It did exactly what it was supposed to do and did it well. Rich, satisfying, and a little indulgent. Kill: The chicken satay. And I say that with respect because it was still good. That peanut sauce was creamy, savory, and slightly sweet in the best way. Unique from other peanut sauces for sure. But compared to the other two dishes, it just did not steal the spotlight. Someone had to go. Service was excellent and the presentation of each dish was beautiful. You can tell they really care about what they are putting out. The interior was nice and modern. Everything came out in a timely fashion and was great from start to finish. I will definitely be back for more larb and to work my way through the other menu items!

A Yelp Elite event brought me to this cool little boutique restaurant. It has a simple, industrial style decor, with a few large garage style doors that open up and make the space feel bigger and more open. The staff and service were good everyone was nice and friendly. We did not have a reservation and waited no more than five minutes to be seated (around 630p on a Saturday), but it quickly filled after we arrived. It seats only about 50 diners. Food, we ordered a fresh green salad, chicken wings and duck egg rolls fir appetizers, snd Owl Fried Rice, and crab with Thai chili and basil as shareable entrees. I had a beer with my meal, and my wife had the sangria. The kitchen flow/timing was a bit off. After our order was taken, we waited about 15 - 20 minutes before the first appetizer came out. As we worked through the appetizers, the Owl Fried Rice arrived. About halfway through the rice, I realized I never got my beer and had to ask for it (I think it was forgotten). We were nearly done with the rice and still hadn't received the crab dish, so I asked the waitress about it. She looked surprised and said she'd check on it. About 5-10 minutes later, the crab dish finally came out. My wife's second sangria was comped due to this error. Let's talk about the food: Green salad - Good and fresh. Did exactly what a salad should do. Wings - Excellent. Well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Three wings - portion was smaller than typical, as this was part of the Yelp comp. A normal app is 5 wings. Duck egg rolls - Great flavor, but the wrapper was a little thick and dense. Owl Fried Rice - Really good overall. The curry flavor comes through strong in a good way. My only issue was that there was just one shrimp in the whole dish. Maybe go lighter on the pineapple and add more shrimp. Crab with Thai chili and basil - Excellent. The flavors and preparation were on point. Despite the delays, this was still a pleasant experience. I'll definitely return and would recommend checking this place out. If the weather's nice, I suggest grabbing a patio seat (there are only nine).

I've ordered from "The Second Owl" a couple times, but this was my first time dining in the space is small, but not cramped, and the mixed materials on the walls is cute and warm. Service was prompt, friendly, and very efficient. I ordered the lunch special, with the Tom Kha soup, and Pad See Ew with tofu. I also ordered the duck spring rolls to give them a try (I usually order veggie). The soup was piping hot, and had enough mushrooms, tomatoes, and cilantro to make for a good opener. The soup is light, sour in the best way, and creamy. The spring rolls were also ridiculously fresh, ULTRA crunchy, and served split, so I joked that they reminded me of bone marrow. They are hearty but not overpowering, and VERY STURDY. Not light and crisp, but crunchy enough to hold up to the meat, which is savory and has a good black pepper kick. Finally, their pad see ew is my favorite in Long Beach. Glossy, tangy noodles with a salty, savory mix of egg, greens, and perfectly soft tofu. I had to ask for some spice to add (I love spicy!) but that was my fault- I should've spoken up when I ordered. Overall - a great place for probably 1-6 in a group. How lucky I am to have The Second Owl so close to my home!

Great Thai food! Great addition to Second Street/Belmont shore. We decided to try something new and happy we did! Second Owl is cute staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The pad Thai amazing, our appetizer egg rolls so yummy. Happy hour has great pricing - can't wait to go back for their sangria. They allow dogs on their sidewalk dining area - parking is typical of the Belmont shore area.

A rare find!! A unique Thai place in this very crowded Belmont shore neighborhood. Located on the corner. There is street parking all over. A bit loud, but animal friendly with their patio seating too Very large menu for such a small place. They have lunch specials and a happy hour menu too Real food made by real people. Everything was plated beautifully and packed a whole ton of flavor too

Dark moody interiors with super friendly staff. Small dining room but had no problem getting a table when we arrived, though it quickly got crowded. The prawn was delicious and so was the larb. Will come back and try more dishes.

I had wanted to try this restaurant for a while, and today my son treated me for Mother's Day for lunch. Our experience exceeded expectations. We were warmly greeted by our server, Ammara who was attentive throughout our meal. The space has a modern and warm vibe, and the food is incredible. For drinks, we ordered the Thai Tea and Thai coffee. The coffee was great. I would have liked the tea to be stronger, though it had great flavor. We began with the Baan Yaang appetizer. It has one skewer each of filet, chicken, and pork accompanied by 3 sauces and a garnish. The filet is marinated and was absolutely delicious on its own. The peanut sauce for the chicken was tasty. I preferred the sweeter sauce for the pork. It also came with a diced cucumber/red onion garnish, which I enjoyed on its own. For our main course, we chose Crab with Thai Chili and Basil along with Owl Fried Rice. Both were so satisfying. Although we were both pretty full, we finished our meal off with the Mango Sticky Rice. They put a special touch on it, decorating the plate with "Happy Mother's Day!" We will definitely be back.

Solid thai place on 2nd street. Some great dishes, some that were just so so but overall a great, somewhat affordable, Thai option around 2nd street. We came for lunch with a group of 5 and ordered the pork belly appetizer, larb, thai boat, pad thai, pad see ew, and thai crab. The pork belly was delicious. Not too fatty but just enough to give it that rich flavor. Nicely crisped without being greasy. There was a fish sauce-dipping sauce that went really well with it. A crowd favorite. The larb was tangy and refreshing. The seasonings overpowered the meat flavor a little and I thought it was strange they served it on shrimp chips versus lettuce. Not enough chips to larb ratio. The thai boat noodle was very flavorful. Almost had a worsteshire sauce flavor. The beef was pretty well cooked and was different but very good. Of the two noodle dishes, the pad thai was our least favorite. WAY too sweet. Maybe more Americanized? But overall did not like it and probably wouldn't order it again. The pad see ew was good, if not memorable. An easy to eat dish with well cooked noodles, but not a lot of veggies. The crab was by far the best dish. If you like thai basil dishes, this is your dish. The crab soaks in all the flavor of the thai basil. It has a little bit of heat and the veggies add a nice crunch. Definitely a must try. Really nice and attentive service in a modern decor restaurant. Will definitely come back again to try some other things and see what else is worthwhile.

First off, street parking can be a challenge, but we were able to find a spot right away. It is a very small restaurant, but kudos to the owners and architect who made really good use of the space. When you walk in, it is transformed, and you feel like you are in a whole different environment. The decor, the lighting, the layout, the furniture make this place spectacular and great photo ops. They have a huge TV for watching sports especially the World Cup, which was playing when we got there. They have a bar area. We got there right when they opened so I think the waiter was still setting things up, but was super friendly to us. The manager arrived and helped us since the waiter was still setting up. The manager, Carlos, was extremely friendly and helpful. And another couple walked in to eat, and they were attended to very quickly by the manager as well. We asked for ceviche, although we know they had just opened and breakfast was being served, however they were more than accommodating to get us ceviche. Even the tableware matched everything about this restaurant. I enjoyed the wood piece table wear and the set up. To start, we were brought tostadas. It looked like a couple of them may have been made with nopale, they were green. They included a roasted mild salsa with the tostadas. The presentation of the ceviche was stunning! They gave us a small jar of their salsa macha, which is an oil based red seed chili. It's amazing on everything, but especially on top of the ceviche. The portion was generous. They also gave us more tostadas and crackers. They also have unique desserts, I think I've read they make their ice cream in house and they had flavors like beet and avocado. Definitely need to try the next time I return. I highly recommend this place. I cannot wait to return to try their breakfast and other entrees. It's going to be hard not to order the ceviche as well because it's gotta be the best in the area. Definitely a new fave spot!

My sister and I visited this past --our walnut salad was fresh, the Riesling hit perfectly, and the calamari came out with that golden crunch to die for. But our server... all we could say was Steve, Steve, Steve!!!! He took the cake! Talk about impeccable service and making you feel genuinely welcomed--that's an understatement. This was my second time here, and I've gotta say, I think this has officially become one of my all-time favorites. Downtown Long Beach has always had such a fun, foodie-filled atmosphere. I know some restaurants are struggling, but it's because they didn't have the same atmosphere & service. The food is great, but what really stands out to me are the PEOPLE. Even the servers who weren't serving our table intentionally, smiled, and said hello as they passed. I even remembered one of the servers from my last visit and her sister because they both have some of the most inviting personalities ever. That says a lot about the culture of a restaurant. We also had the opportunity to meet the new GM, which was another nice touch. Great food. Great ambience. GREAT people. And Steve,,,you're the best! 10/10. We'll definitely be back. On the real real- I am disappointed in the food. Each time. Every time I've been here I actually don't eat the food beyond a bite or tie because it's just not good. However, I will say if you are looking for a cute place to people watch on second street and grab a cocktail then this is perfect. I've tried over half of the menu and I've never been impressed with anything. I never can even get past one or two bites. I kept going back to give them another shot, but at this point, I've decided I can't recommend anyone to eat here, especially for the price point. This last visit I had an amazing bartender and preserved a poke bowl, ceviche, and shrimp cocktail. None were good and I can't even call them satisfactory. I had two bites of the poke and it was bland, boring, and actually tasted bad. Same with the shrimp. The ceviche was also off and my friend and I left full plates and no questions were asked as to why and if we liked the food. We didn't. Very cute place, friendly servers. Mediocre at best food, and very expensive. This 11th chance leaving disappointed (and hungry) was the last chance. I tried.

For starters, we got the Parker House Rolls, which comes with truffle butter, local citrus honey, and grana padano cheese. These rolls were so fluffy and flavorful. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke.
