We ordered the lao papaya salad, khmer beef skewers, Tom yum soup, pad thai and lastly added Nam Khao dish. I was really excited about trying the Nam Khao and glad they had this option here. Everything came out right away but the Nam Khao never showed up. We were almost done with our dinner and the dish didn't come out yet so we asked them if we could cancel the order. The server told me she would see what she could do. 5 minutes later she brings the dish out and told us sorry they already made it and we had to accept it. At this point we were given the check. I was irritated but my husband said its fine, just take the whole thing to go and eat it when we get back. I packed it up. We paid for it and didn't make a fuss. When I got home and decided to eat it, I found a piece of rock in my food. First time this has ever happened. I'm not happy with our service and definitely not happy that Nam Khao came with a rock/pebble. Will attach a photo! Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back to So Saap again!

Tomatoes cut by hand in the air? Check. A combination of regular tomatoes and cherry tomatoes? Check. Lots of roasted peanuts on top? Check. Asian Long Beans? Check. Plenty of very hot fiery Thai chilies? Check. Dried shrimp on top? Check. A wedge of white cabbage to cool things down? Check. Basically, an incredible sophisticated yet simple dish that I crave every so how often and love to take home with me. There's really nothing like it and make sure to add a bunch of limes to help balance out the richness! The Pla Som Rod (3 Flavor Fish) was also incredible and visually stunning. It's a flavor explosion that combines both a traditional sweet and sour profile but amplified with some fish sauce umami and spice. I could just eat the sauce and rice and be happy. I always order the papaya salad (Lao style) and add vermicelli rice noodles. I have also tried their Khao Poon, Lao Sausages, Curry, and Larb dishes -- all were absolutely perfect as if I were really dining at an auntie's house. Flavors are authentic and dishes are prepared in a way to walk guests down the journey of Lao and Thai cooking. Make sure to not underestimate spice levels for the dishes. Them hot chilli peppers these aunties harvest are not be reckoned with. Bonus, this dine in restaurant is located directly next door to a mini market selling anything you need for cooking Southeast Asian cuisine -- so you can dine and grocery shop. Everyone wins. They downgraded their portions significantly and raised prices significantly. Their refrigerated foods were pretty pricey as well for being in small containers.
