Erica took photos of each tooth, measured my gums, and validated that my oral hygiene practices at home are on par. During my examination, we saw signs of decay, and there was enough time in the schedule for me to start the process of placing a crown on my tooth. From the moment Dr. James numbed me to the moment my temporary crown was placed, I was treated with the utmost care. The team remembered my son, who visited not too long ago, and were as joyful and relatable as can be. They even offered me a cozy blanket during my procedure! I mean, who does that? Pecan Park Family Dentistry does! All in all, though it was my first time at their practice, I was made to feel like family. Like I was being taken care of by my girlfriends, and I am beyond grateful to have crossed paths with them!

I want to be clear: I am already deeply aware of this, and I feel embarrassed and awful when it happens. Nothing feels worse than standing at the garage door with my keys in hand, frozen, shaking, overwhelmed, and filled with guilt. This isn't carelessness or laziness, it's something I actively work to manage. I also understand that missed appointments affect a business, and I am willing to accept financial penalties when appropriate. I appreciate that Pecan Park Dental has waived some missed appointment fees for me in the past. However, my most recent experience felt shaming and dismissive of my disability, and I left in tears. The morning of a scheduled appointment, I was called and told my insurance would not cover the visit because I had hit my maximum. I was told I would need to pay $540 out of pocket for a routine cleaning. I could not afford that and chose to reschedule for a future date when my insurance would cover it. At that time, I was told I would still be charged a $100 late cancellation fee, even though this cost was only communicated to me the morning of the appointment. When I returned months later for the rescheduled visit, I tried to explain that this situation resulted from an insurance and communication issue. Instead of working with me, I was repeatedly pressured in the waiting room to pay the $100 fee. I explained multiple times that I did not have the money that day. I was asked for credit card information over and over, in front of my daughter and other patients. It was humiliating. I ended up crying in the office while still being asked for payment. When I later tried to explain the situation, I was sent a chart of my missed appointments. It felt less like an attempt to understand and more like an effort to reinforce guilt. That approach isn't helpful, it adds to the shame and makes it even harder to access care. Experiences like this are exactly why many neurodivergent people avoid healthcare altogether. It becomes easier to avoid appointments than to face anxiety, shame, and financial penalties. I don't believe this is about bad intent, but it reflects a system that prioritizes policies and revenue over patient-centered care and basic compassion. After more than a decade as a loyal patient, and bringing multiple family members to this practice, I expected more understanding and professionalism. Because of this experience, I will be moving my care, along with my family's care, to a different provider. I hope this practice reflects on how it communicates with and supports patients, especially those with anxiety, autism, or other neurodivergent needs. No patient should be made to feel this way while seeking care

So far I have had 2 visits (initial new patient + a cavity filling), and both times I have enjoyed (as much as you can enjoy a dentist appt.). The office is clean, modern, and - dare I say - almost comforting in a way. The equipment they have is up-to-date, efficient, and high-tech. All of the staff members I've had the pleasure of interacting with have been kind and personable, including Dr. Evans himself. From the minute you walk through the door to the very end of your treatment, you're taken care of in a seamless and efficient way. Your first new patient visit can take up to 2 hrs. with the X-Rays, consult/examination, and cleaning, but outside of that you can expect to be seen on time and pretty quickly and thoroughly, without feeling rushed at all. I have never had to wait past my scheduled appt. time to be seen, and my cavity filling appt. I was told to expect 40 mins.-1 hr., but I was in and out in just under 30 mins.! Great experience so far and I'm happy to say I have found a dentist in Austin that I enjoy and plan to continue seeing. Highly recommend if you're looking for an Austin dentist!

When asked why not, he replied, "I've never messed with it, there are all these people who claim their dogs are service animals when they really aren't." Dr. Augustine seemed totally ignorant of ADA regulations. I advised him to educate himself, fired him, and left. I was especially disappointed with Charlotte, his scheduler (who has invariably behaved professionally and with a smile in the past); she turned into a very poor version of herself... impatient, rude, argumentative & disrespectful... when I asked to speak with The Boss. An older, dark haired woman (waiting by the door to bring us back, and who I did not recognize), held my gaze with THE MOST hateful facial expression; if looks could kill, I'd be toast! Yeah, I find sheer ignorance of ADA regulations and resultant abuse of a patient's civil rights, to be less than attractive qualities in a dental practice.

I drove 40 minutes across town with my newborn for a scheduled dental cleaning, only to be told upon arrival that because I had not confirmed my appointment, they could no longer see me. What makes this even more frustrating is that I called ahead to let the office know I was running a few minutes late and asked if I should still come in. The receptionist assured me that it was fine and told me to come on in. When I arrived, however, I was informed that the dentist had already left for the day. I find it completely unacceptable that I was told to continue driving to the office only to be turned away after making the trip. I have never, in all my years as a patient, been told that appointments would be canceled if they were not confirmed. To make matters worse, I was told the office attempted to call me to cancel my appointment just two minutes before my scheduled appointment time. The lack of communication and professionalism from the front desk staff was extremely disappointing. It is also concerning that a patient with a scheduled appointment was effectively canceled on because the dentist chose to leave early. I cannot recommend this office based on the way I was treated today. There are many dental practices that value their patients' time and communicate far more professionally, and I would encourage others to consider those instead.

They quickly fit Me in their schedule and took some X-rays and determined that my pain was from a root canal RE-infection that was performed before my crown was put on. They were kind enough to write a prescription to help with my pain and write a referral back to the Root Canal Specialist for a possible retreatmect. Simply Crown did not charge me for anything even though it was not their fault. The root canal specialist did charge me for the consultation and the RE treatment. This involved drilling into my crown that Dr. Post put on. I was expecting to pay Simply Crowns for putting in the permanent filling, but once again they got me In and out in 20 minutes without charging me a dime.
