    King crab

Have some serious craving. My friend and I stopped in around 8ish on a Sunday.. We ordered a dozen of garlic butter roasted oysters 3/5: overwhelmingly full of garlic. I mean there won't be any vampires coming near me for a week. A bag of 1 lbs of snow crabs, 1lbs of no heads shrimps, potatoes, and corns 5/5. Nicely seasoned. Good quality and soo good. 1 lb of King Crab: 1/5 this is the worst seafood I have ever tried. It's dry, chalky, you can taste the freezer burn. It's just awful.. And for the amount of money we paid. Which is about $80 a lb. We have to be a Karen.. Our waitress were great and tried to fix the problem the best that she can. But we were there for the King Crab. We switched out for an additional lb of snow crabs legs instead. With the amount of seafood restaurants around. I'm not very sure I will try this place again. The owner did come out and apologized. She mentioned that it was just the shipment and they can't change that. I believe they can.. But I'm not the owner of the restaurant.

I enjoyed the seafood much more than I thought. My only complaint is the choice of music playing with kids in the restaurant. Other than that everything else was excellent. Our server was fantastic and came to check in the table often. My friend kids enjoyed it very much and I enjoyed my flounder plate. So much food but very tasty. See you next time

This was my first time dining at one of these seafood boil establishments. Our party of 4 dines in on a Saturday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were seated promptly. Our server came over quickly to take drink and appetizer orders. She checked on us frequently throughout our time there. I ordered the snow crab, shrimp and black mussels combo in the mild Shake Shake sauce. Our food arrived quickly. The flavor and the portion size were good. I actually finished the entire bag, which surprised me. After our meal, they surprised the birthday girl with a cupcake and serenade. Although, the cupcake seemed like it was straight from the grocery store, it was still a nice touch. I will say that the one thing that bothered me was the amount of disposables used. All the serving dishes and utensils were disposable plastic or foam, except for the glasses our drinks were served in. But overall it was a good experience. I would return again for a special occasion.

1/2 lb of Dungeness? I don't think so...

Well, usually I get decent stuff when I go to King Crab, however this past Friday, not sure what's going on or if their scale is broken. I ordered 1/2 lb of Shrimp, sausage, crawfish, and Dungeness crab. The shrimp and sausage was good portions. However I know there are more than 6 crawfish in a 1/2 lb, and they were very small. Also, just because it's a cluster of crab, doesn't mean it weighs 1/2lb. The crab was a small cluster and I weighed it, and it was just a little over 5 ounces. Should be at least 8 ounces.... Are you guys trying to rip me off??!!

Very tasty seafood. I wasn't sure about the onion rings, but they were great. Sometimes rather seasoning can be too salty, but it was perfect. I got the garlic butter seasoning for my corn. Friendly staff. Very attentive during lunch time. Clean establishment, except the blinds which you could see had been splattered with the seasoning of the seafood

Love this place. Some friends took me to eat a few years ago. I try to visit every few months. This was a good time. Nicely seasoned, hot out of the pot, and great service. So pleasant. Online ordering was a breeze. Prices are fair market for seafood: crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes. Worth checking out

Took myself on a solo date and was craving seafood boil. Heard this was the place to go, so decided to try it out. And boy were the people right. I smashed my entire pan of food. First I didn't know it would come out in an aluminum pan . I thought it would be in a bag like typical boils, but it was a twist. Ordered the juicy sauce medium heat. There was a wait to be seated but wasn't to long. There were several big parties the night I went. There was a little altercation also with a customer wanting to dine with their dog which was not a service dog. But they were able to handle the situation without disturbing the rest of the customers. I would go back but probably not on possible busy days so I'm not waiting long. They music was a decent volume and they TVs were on good channels. Would suggest if going with large groups call early for reservations.

The Umami elevated them tremendously, the taste was divine. I'm not a fan of caviar but the taste was delicious nonetheless. The star of the show was the Branzino. It was moist and flaky with a delectable butter and caper sauce. I was throughly enjoying each bite. There was a plethora of chard veggies that were robustly seasoned. By the time the fish came we were definitely full but it was delicious. The Mango Surprise was filling in bits elf. The Mango was sweet and soft and played well with the soy sauce and sweet imitation crab. The cheese Tower was amazing. The 3 cheese was robust. I believe it was Bri, Blue and Im not sure the 3rd but it was my favorite. The berries were huge and very succulent, the nuts were honey coated and the honey and Jam sealled it. It was a beautiful presentation. We both settled on Crème brûlée because its our favorite. However the Cherry Brownie was brought was a birthday birthday treat with candle. Red Sea provided exactly the type of experience I wanted, including decor, atmosphere, friendliness, and of course the food. In the background, behind a door on the side of the restaurant, there was a second area where you could hear people playing snooker. At one point in the evening, the woman who seated and served us also roasted coffee beans at a little station in the corner, then she walked around so that the smell penetrated the entire restaurant like incense. What a cool thing, and something I've never experienced at any other Ethiopian restaurant previously. It's such a simple thing, you'd think it would be more common. The food was, of course, delicious. You could order individual foods or combo platters, and the combo platters were very well explained. This was one of the few Ethiopian restaurants I've visited which included beets on the menu both in the vegetable platter and as a side. Each person gets one gigantic piece of injera, so little worry of running out (there is a charge for extra). Tej is available by the bottle and glass, and several brands of beer are available. I would classify Red Sea as a hidden gem and definitely a place to dine.

There were a few worthy entrants, but after reading reviews and looking at photos, I decided Red Sea would be the place I go to experience these new flavors. Located along Monroe Rd in a stand-alone building painted green and blue, the restaurant definitely appears a bit dated but to me that adds to the charm. I don't think any everything to be shiny and new, I'll go for tried and true when it comes to local restaurants. I went in on a weekday between lunch and dinner, so it was pretty quiet, but I noticed in addition to a fine looking bar, they have a small stage which suggests they sometimes host musical acts. I'd love to come back during one of their busy periods so I can get a better sense of the vibe, but on this particular day I was there solely for the food. The only thing I knew going into this experience is that Ethiopian food is typically served on a large piece of bread which I've come to learn is called injerna. The bread is a sourdough and has a spongy texture. Now I wanted to try different things so I got a combo platter that came with chicken, lamb, veggies, and a hard boiled egg as well. When they serve it, it comes with another piece of injerna and the idea is that you use the second one to tear away pieces and pick up your food with it. I confess that I tried my best to eat it the authentic way, but eventually I found myself getting frustrated and asked for a fork. Like chopsticks I'm sure it takes practice. The platter is a was massive, an absolute feast that could easily feed two people. I loved it, but eventually had to get a to go box. It was ambitious to take that on by myself. Overall my first experience has me hooked and I want to try more. I can't speak to the authenticity, but people in the city seem to rate this place very highly so I think that speaks for itself.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

You aren't greeted warmly or even welcomingly. Each time I go, I have a different server and it offers me hope that I have another chance at feeling good about how I was treated. Instead, I have yet to be impressed with the service. Recently, I had so much oyster shell shrapnel that I couldn't even eat the dozen I ordered. I tried picking it out, cleaning it up but it was in the mucus of the oyster. I sent them back, with cause, and they did replace them. I was deeply disappointed that there were no apologies for the fact that someone thought it was good enough to send out with shards of sharp slivers of shell all throughout the oysters. Whoever sent this out, knew they had done a bad job opening the shells. They let it go out, disregarding how dangerous shell slivers can be on the intestinal tract. The server was shocked that I complained and sent them back. I wish I had taken a picture to show how much was there. Trust when I say, it was bad. It takes something significant for me to complain about it. I hope they learned from this but I truthfully think they blew it off like it was just another complaint. My review is based on multiple experiences and focusing on the one negative. The takeaway from this should be that their service has room for improvement and they should really consider addressing it to make the experience for the patrons to be titillating, and to entice them to return. You should never leave a restaurant feeling like you wasted your money and/or time, and I felt both this time.
