Since this new restaurant had opened, I'd been meaning to try it and see what they had to offer! It was definitely on my to do list after the many target trips, round table trips, and even sally beauty supply store trips. There's always been a reason to drop around the Morill shopping center, but it wasn't until recently I stopped by to see what they had in store! The dining hall itself is large enough to accommodate, however it was on the warmer side with no A/C so it wasn't the most comfortable having it be one of the hottest days of the season. However, their set up was very clean and eye catching, there's an associate at every end to answer any questions, box the food up, and even take care at register. My mother had ordered her usual favorites, chicken chow mein, fried rice, etc. unlike most Chinese restaurants that offer veggie spring rolls as their only vegetarian option- King Egg Roll Express really had a nice abundant selection! Their standard chow mean was made with chicken seasoning and pieces itself, but their vegetarian option had been seasoned with soy, with a nice selection of steamed veggies mixed in. What was also nice was they had two types of vegetarian rolls, one being the fried roll and the other the rice paper wrapped one filled with carrots! The girl at the counter was very helpful with the ingredient content, and helped us get everything bagged promptly. However, some food was made fresh so there was little room to sit and wait for the order. What was nice is that when you type in your phone number at register you get signed up to receive points for every $1 spent and you can accumulate free food goods your next visit! After missing out on some yummy vegetarian friend Chinese food, I was ready to dig in. I really enjoyed the soy seasoning for the chow mein, it tasted more on the saltier side, but it paired well with the veggies mixed in. The spring rolls, were the best offered here and their red sauce has the perfect ratio of sweet and sour! Having vegetarian options was a major plus for me, and the freshness and taste were enough to bring me back this way next time I'm in the mood for good Chinese food at a moderate price. read more

I came to this King Eggroll today after doing some shopping next door and because I am a huge fan of their eggrolls. Ok lets start at the beginning i was 3rd in line and after placing my order it took 15mins to receive it(not very Express to me) after getting my food and taking it home i found halfway thru my meal a half of a toothpick in my sandwich(not fun!) Favorite location is still the King/Berryessa spot, even with people spare-changing outside, the poorly designed parking lot, and the cash only policy. Perhaps it's the childhood nostalgia of waiting for eggroll trays before every holiday party/graduation/potluck/birthday/etc. However, King Eggroll Express has its high points, with a clean interior, proximity to my retail addiction of choice (now fried siu mai can be an official part of the Target run), and acceptance of credit cards. Better run than King Eggroll on Calaveras, with better food. The only downsides at this location are: there are no banh mi sandwiches and the pre-packed items, like the grilled pork vermicelli salad and various summer rolls, run out quite early. First off, there is no way this place is related to the real King Egg Roll. Absolutely no way. The food is not King Egg Roll. So, now that we know that, here is the review. Egg rolls: odd tasting and not consistent in filling or flavor. Sweet and sour sauce: actually closer to sweet and sour water. So watery and bland. Pot Stickers: I suspect mass produced and frozen. No flavor. Steam table food: typical cheapy Chinese. Lots of veggies, little meat and bland, watery sauce. The service here is absolutely terrible. They have a very poor concept of how the place works. The food is cooked and ready to serve from the steam tray. You should point, have your food put into a container, pay and go. These folks ask for help, look confused, get someone else to show them how to pack food into a container and then they give you a number, not your food, and then you wait in line to pay. Once you get to the front of the line to pay, they search for your food and pack it up into a bag. Honestly, for food ready to go, it took 17 minutes to point and then pay before I was ready to leave. Perhaps they need training or something, but express in the name is just a differentiator of the King Egg Roll real name and not a reflection of speed of service, This is just another cheap Chinese fast food place that is not fast and hardly Chinese. The food here is bad. It's better at the berryessa location. The food looks good but the taste quality and food temp feels like it was left over yesterday night. Even the fried chicken doesnt taste crispy or fried... it taste like regular chicken. I wouldn't recommend coming here. But why 4 stars you ask? Well this one isn't a 20 year, semi- unsecure looking dinky place like the OG on King... If you haven't stepped into this Kingroll Express you're missing out. NEW, updated and super nice staff... Can't leave target or go into roundtable without getting 1 or more eggrolls.. Wait who'm kidding you can't just eat one.. .Heck it's a crime they sell them in 1's should be 2 or more... I do like to mix it up with an eggroll and shrimp ball... not sure why either. Ok, I'm rambling on. Anyway great place, love it's local, parking can suck with the shared lot but they're open around 8am, do catering/big plates and always have fresh food on the steam tables ready to go...
