Who pays $1 for an eggroll??? The place didn't have much to display and nothing seemed great. Craving for charsiu bao, they only had the steamed ones. Bought big bread 大包 and regretted it because it wasn't that big considering I paid $2.50........this king eggroll and the Calaveras location need to follow berryessa's. The berryessa location has tons of food displayed. Oh yeah and the young workers look like they have no idea what to do mostly speaking in vietnamese. You're better off at the original. I got two combo meals and of course a few egg-rolls. Food was good but not anything special, portions were plentiful. King Eggroll Express - Very generous portions - Fast Food Near Me - San Jose, California

I came in at 12 PM and right away I could tell the food wasn't fresh. If you open at 10, why does the food look like it's been sitting here since the day before? Specifically the chow mein. Ordered three chicken eggrolls and got sweet-and-sour sauce on the side. The sweet-and-sour sauce is served in a little cups that they fill. I'm used to the packet sweet-and-sour, but since I seen three ladies, dipping their eggrolls inside the establishment I thought it must be fine. When I get home and ready to eat my eggrolls, I noticed something black swimming around in one of the sweet-and-sour sauce cups. I open it and find a very small hair. Maybe a pube or a nose hair.. I open a second one and there's a jelly like ring at the top of the cup as if it's been sitting out and wasn't refrigerated fast enough. (I'm only about a seven minute drive home) I open the third and last sweet-and-sour sauce. I open it and it could have possibly been fine, but I was so put off by the other two I couldn't even dare myself to use it. I will say the chicken eggrolls still taste good even without sauce. Glad they finally open up. Place seemed decent enough for a fast Chinese food. I ordered their combo platter for 7.00 and side order of sesame ball & their famous egg roll. I love their sesame ball it's just the right size with a little bit of crunch to it. As for their egg roll can't go wrong if you ever had king egg roll the wrap has a bit of crunch to it and the filling was good also. I can't rate the combo platter cause i ordered it for my son. When I went in it was not busy at all the two ladies at the counter were very nice. Great service for a fast food with that in mind I will be back. I just hope they will be here for a while. I call my mom everyday...and everyday she tells me my dad goes to King Eggroll to get food. I always say, "He goes all the way over to Berryessa?!!" She kept trying to tell me one is closer to their house. Yea, riiiight. "Anak, it's right next to the Target!" Hm...it used to be a Chinese restaurant. "It's a King Eggroll now!" I ended up in San Jose to take care of family stuff and went to do a Target run...and was quickly waylaid by King Eggroll. It seemed on par price wise as the one on Berryessa. I find I like the fillings better here in the eggroll vs the other location. Seems like it's cooked better and things don't feel slightly underdone. Super stoked this is near my parents house. I was excited when King Eggroll opened near me. I was disappointed though when the food displayed looked old, the only had 1 chicken teriyaki stick and was told that they wouldn't make more, even when there were hours left before closing time. I made my order to go and when ringing up I asked if all the sauces for the egg roll and dinner were in the bag. They replied that they were. When I arrived home with the meals, there was no sweet and sour for the egg rolls, soy sauce or any sauce for that matter. The food was a disappointment as well. The Chicken and Beef in the Broccoli beef were tough and the fried rice was burnt. I tossed half of the meal out. Really disappointed! I was looking forward to a decent Chinese food place close by... Love the dim sum here! Prob the best togo dim sum I have tried so far in this area. Only had them during lunch time and it tasted fresh and filling. I had the - 1 order of har gow - 1 order of siu Mai - 1 order of shrimp and chives dumpling - 1 piece of egg roll - 1 piece of shrimp ball I was able to finish everything and it was all delicious and so good! Def solved my dim sum craving. My favorite was the shrimp ball. Came around noon and there was a bit of a wait. You come up and a girl with a tablet greets you and take down the order. Then you go to the register and pay. Smooth and efficient service. Will be a frequent customer! read more

I know I've written this before, but I for sure mean it this time: this is my boyfriend's and my new go-to place for Chinese takeout. The prices are decent, and the layout of the restaurant makes ordering very simple. I love the chunks of orange in the orange chicken, and I love the flavors of the sauce they use. I love the look of the chow mein, and I love the consistency of their noodles, which are just a bit sticky. Best of all...THEY HAVE DIM SUM! Basic dumplings, yes, but dumplings at a fast food Chinese restaurant? That's something I've never heard of before now. Unfortunately they were out of the Xiao Mai tonight, so we substituted them for BBQ pork buns. The shrimp dumplings seemed like they may have been frozen previously, or at least that the shrimp inside had been frozen, then thawed and wrapped in a dumpling and cooked. Surprisingly, they weren't that bad. Probably wouldn't get them again, but it was a nice one-time experience. My boyfriend and I were able to share a quart of chow mein and a quart of orange chicken. There was only one piece of overcooked chicken that I tried, so overall, it's some of the best Chinese takeout I've ever had. Again, our new go-to Chinese takeout! I am in love with their Mocha shake. The avocado shake is made with fresh sliced avocado. Service is friendly. I have gone in 15 minutes before closing, there were only 3 shrimp balls out. I asked for 10, I was bracing myself for a "no way". But they happily made a fresh batch and gave me all fresh ones (I thought they would give me the 3 that were out plus 7 fresh ones). Came here last Tuesday for lunch since I work nearby. When I walked in I was greeted by the girl working at the counter. I ordered a combo with Chow Mien and two sides. Went in Friday night expecting to get 4 different combo meals TO GO, then they recommend that I try their family portion. Much better deal, and more food, I think! Great recommendation, thanks for that. For our order we got fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, string bean chicken, and I added an extra order of sweet and sour pork. Also, had to try their shrimp balls, and those were very tasty. I knocked off 1 star because although the service and 95% of the food was great, I was really disappointed when I got home and opened the container of sweet and sour pork to see that it was just fried pork, and there was some sweet sour sauce on the side. In the store the sweet and sour pork looks amazing, nice and coated in sauce, with chunks of onion and pineapple. My order was dry and once you mixed it with the sauce provided it was sub par. So, bummed about that because that is one of my favorite dishes. Other than that mix up, I'll still come back because it's quick and yummy food, just next time I'll be more specific and point to the actual tray of food I would like! read more

I went in on a hot day, so I wouldn't have to cook. I got the small tray of chicken chow Mein : hot and fresh. A small tray of the salted spare ribs : no sauce, but high in flavor . My daughter had the veg chow Mein with thin noodles : she said she would get it again . Also egg rolls, steamed rice, and veggie egg rolls. The only item I won't order again are the potstickers , which were chewy n dry. Service was not bad, she tried hard and smiled a lot. We waited 15 minutes since 2 were tray size. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, and for potlucks, I would come here instead of Lundy to get a tray of food. I parked in front of the pizza place. This so called king eggroll "express" there is nothing express about it their whole concept and set up is ridiculous first they take your order then give you a stupid receipt then when they call your number then your allowed to pay then once your done paying you have to wait for the cashier to pit your food in the box. Also after handling money she did not wash her hands before putting the food in the containers. I went up to the register to pay i was number 16 she said i cant pay yet because its not in order she need number 15 to pay first i sit back down and she calls number 15 and guess what theres no number 15!!!! So dumbly she calls 16 im never coming here again. They have it set up like a panda express but only get the order ready after u wait in line get your number called and pay then they will start to put your order together. read more

Worst service ever. Saw the pretty girl take out my bagged egg rolls to switch to older ones. When I asked for fresher ones, the skinny girl with glasses refused, telling me they were equally fresh when I saw a man bring out new ones from the back 1 minute earlier. Reluctantly, she switched them, but as I turned my head to pay, I noticed she rebagged a couple of the old ones again, thinking I wouldn't see. The people are nice, the restaurant is clean and up-to-date, but THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE. My husband and I ate here and everything tasted nasty. The chowmein and fried rice were super plain with some weird after taste. The meats were cold and flavorless. The dim sum was cold and squishy. I'm so bummed because I was so excited to try this place. I should have taken the hint that it was empty and that all the food looked old. I won't be eating here ever again. I went to go get lunch here a few times since they opened and let me tell you the workers are so friendly and polite. The girl that took my order was really sweet and made me feel welcomed, on the other hand the other girl that was at the cashier was incredibly nice and was super friendly!! They're both so pretty too!!!They were both working each time I went. So hopefully when you go they are working! The food is great, I got the teriyaki chicken sticks and that was full or flavor. I also recommend the orange chicken and the pan fried dumplings. Definitely try their fried bananas, best I've tried. This place is amazing! This used to be a Chinese dim sum/bakery place. Then it was an Indian/Chinese restaurant and now it's King Egg Roll Express. Too bad I never got to try it as an Indian/Chinese restaurant because I'm curious of the two cultures assimilating onto a plate. Oh well. I didn't know this King Egg Roll express was from THEE King Egg Roll. I simply thought it was a copy cat and someone copying the name but added express so that there wouldn't be any infringement but turns out, it is from the infamous King Egg Roll! Been wanting to come here since they opened but I finally made an effort today after seeing people's pics and seeing that they accept credit card and Apple Pay! What?? They take Apple Pay??? They really do. I feel like everything here was overpriced. Seems more expensive than the original locations but is its because this is an "express" place? The shrimp balls are $1.10 each and the egg rolls are $0.99 each. It's definitely not that place at the other locations. I got a kids meal but barely got any meat so I think I should have just ordered a combo because I would have gotten way more food for $2 more. The dim sums are expensive. 3-4 pieces in each set and it's $3.25 per set so after tax it's like $1 per piece lol. Dim sum is expensive everywhere in San Jose because there's not much competition so they can make it super expensive and people will still buy it. You can drive around town to get dim sum elsewhere but it's still going to be costly. The super was nice when we came here. The tables were clean. It wasn't crowded. It looks similar to the one on Lundy. I like on the receipt it has a breakdown of everything you ordered so you know you can see if you got ripped off because I feel like many Asian places do that and charge you for hella shit and you'll never know because there's no paper trail. They didn't have any BBQ pork spring rolls when I came in but she told me to wait 3 minutes. Nice!!! Fresh and made to order just for me! Did I already mention everything was pretty good? The service and the atmosphere is great and modern looking, but when it comes to the food I would think twice. The orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken are utterly disgusting to say the least, it says chicken but it has the texture of cubed beef jerky and taste like pork. The aftertaste is very medicine like and unpleasant, the sauce is reduced so much that it becomes very concentrated and grainy. The fried rice is average but sort of dry but perhaps that was due to getting the top part of a fresh batch, who knows. So overall the place is great but if they perhaps cooked the chicken a little less and not to the point of complete dehydration it would be a better place. read more

Worst customer service!! The employees all have something against white females!! So definitely don't go in here if you are white or a female!! I had an order for pick-up that had already been paid for and was sitting on the back shelf when I got there. There were a few people in line so I waited in line to pick up my order. When I got to the front of the line, 3 different employees completely ignored me as if I wasn't even there and started helping other customers behind me in line. I even tried to ask one of the female employees for my order when she was right in front of me and again I was ignored. The employees even had the nerve to have me step aside so that someone behind me in line could pay for and take their order and again walked away immediately after so she didn't have to help me! After several attempts to get an employee to help me, one employee looked at me and laughed at how upset I was getting for being ignored. I finally offered to get the order myself since it was sitting right in front of me and had already been paid for and finally someone acknowledged my existence!! I will never be giving this location my business again and will advise everyone else I know to avoid this place as well!! read more
