Whenever I come back to California, the beef ball rice stick noodle soup is at the very top of my must eat list. The soup is genius in its simplicity. Clear, flavorful broth creates a perfect accompaniment to the bouncy, ribbon like noodles. The meatballs are so tender and springy, and unlike any meatball I've ever encountered. Crunchy pork fat bits and greens swim about and add fun variety in every bite. This is the soup I want when I'm heartbroken (often), sick (annoying), or hungover (unfortunately also often). I always ordered #9 combination wonton noodle soup with thick egg noodles and separate soup. I prefer soup on the side. Everything in the bowl was delicious (white meat thin sliced chicken, ground pork, thin sliced pork, shrimp and wontons). I didn't like the beef balls so asked to exclude them. They also put little chicharrones. I also ordered eggrolls and they were crispy, fresh and tasty. The service was fast and to the point. You come, order, eat, pay and go. No fuss. I arrived at 5pm and was surprised they aren't open for dinner and they close at 7pm, but then again they are open early in the morning for breakfast. I ordered the Combo Crispy Fried Noodle, Fried Daikon Flour Cake with Egg and Peanut, and Pad Thai. Food here has decent portions for the prices. The food was more on the savory side when it came to flavoring. Noodles still have good wok hay and leans more towards Chinese Teochew style food. The service here is quick and the waiters usually expect customers to know what they want upon sitting down. The staff are attentive and will refill your water throughout the meal and quickly bus the tables. At first I was told these restaurants are cash only, but apparently this location took credit cards for over a decade, which was a huge plus. As for the plaza there's plenty of parking in the lot. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Alone doesn't have much taste but with egg and with vinegar sauce it makes a perfect bite. Much better than other locations that make this dish. I have been dining at New Tung Kee for over 25 years. Some of my friends and family love it and some don't. There is a procedure for seasoning the soup....which not everyone gets. The broth needs to be seasoned to taste. First thing, taste the broth! Add a little hoisin sauce and stir it in. Next, add some spice. (I like the sliced jalapeños ). If it is too sweet from the Hosin. Add some acidity, whether the vinegar soaked peppers or the straight up bottle of vinegar. Season the broth the way you like it. Then proceed to consume. I like the 17 with both vermicelli and rice noodles, combo. I like a bite of jalapeño pepper with each bite, I enjoy the fresh crunch and flavor of the peppers. I enjoy this food. Oh my Goodness!!! This place is getting louder and louder, no respect whatsoever, worker there eating with their phones on speaker super loud! Listening to who knows what because is on their own language. It makes it super uncomfortable to eat and have a decent conversation with my family that came to visit. This restaurant has been a favorite of mine for years. My dad would often take our family here to eat when I was a kid. I went here again recently as an adult. The restaurant is still popular and serves the same tasty Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine! My favorite things to order here are definitely the combination rice stick noodle soup, fried egg flour cake, and taro boba. You will be very happy if you order these items. The soup comes as a generous portion, so my family often splits it between 2 people. I love the flavorful meatballs in this soup. There are also hoisin sauce and sriracha sauce that you can add on the side. The fried egg flour cake also is a large portion and can be shared among 3-4 people. This location cooks the cakes to perfection, and I love the sauce that comes with them. Last but not least, the taro boba. I always make sure to get the taro boba not just for the childhood nostalgia, but because it tastes so much better than taro boba I've had elsewhere. The service is so efficient here, it's impressive. My family of 5 can be in and out of here in about half an hour because of how quick they are to take our order and bring out the food. Ambiance Fast food chinese restaurant. Standard no-frills, cafeteria feel. Service Fast, efficient. Not much otherwise, no check-ins. One of those get in, order, eat, and get out. Food Food quality may depend on what you order. Veggie rice stick bowl was bland, practically hot water with noodle and veggies. The rice noodle kind of mushy, split very easily. Spicy beef sate noodle bowl was tasty, oily, but pretty decent tender meat. The combination crispy fried noodle was interesting, the veggies were practically raw. Their combination wonton noodle soup has more flavor than the veggie soup and the wonton was decent. I like their egg noodle better than the rice stick noodle. Cost At $12-14 per bowl, it's cheaper than pretty much all other noodle places, but the quality reflects the price. It's a decent place to go to if you want a cheaper lunch option but just don't expect too much in quality. Tipping Practice Pay upfront at the counter, tips were not really requested if you use Tap pay, they prefer cash tips. I did give cash tips but the cashier looked at my wallet and my hand as I grabbed the cash and followed my hand movement all the way until I dropped the bill in the tip jar. It was weird. Past visits, the counter person usually didn't care to wait and would go off doing other things after I tap. Overall It is a decent place if you crave fast cheap decent noodle soup. read more

This location is definitely my favorite. This TK is much better than the other TKs. I always order the same items. Always good and always fresh. I primarily get the #3. The wontons are always fresh, unlike some other locations, and the food comes out really fast. Despite having a LARGE location that can accommodate many parties, they always do their best to get you oin and out during busy times because there is always a line. During their off-peak hours, they let you take your time. And even when they're about to close, I have yet to see then turn away customers, but rather than dine-in, they do recommend take-out at that point, which is completely fair. This location compared to others also seems much cleaner and the staff is much friendlier. The staff doesn't constantly come check up on you while you're eating, but they come around at least once to make sure everything is still okay, and they are usually pretty attentive when you need anything. I gave 4 stars based on their takeout because I had ordered food to go, and when I asked for the little containers so I can get seasoning to go (hoison sauce, sriracha, jalapenos, chili oil) I was given two containers and when I asked the cashier for more, he gave me one container more. It's not too much of an issue. He probably had a long day. But maybe he can ask how many I'd like first or leave the containers out so that we/I won't have to keep bothering him for more.
