While in Milpitas at this shopping center my friend said they had popular Taiwanese popcorn chicken and chicken cutlets which reminded me of Taiwanese street food and night markets! I ordered on their kiosk inside for take out and to bring to a potluck. I ordered their salt and pepper popcorn chicken, and I ordered both types of chicken cutlets with mild seasoning and cut up. They all came with little picks to eat them With. Nice and freshly fried, they were so flavorful and crunchy, my mouth is watering thinking about it. Everyone devoured it at the potluck and perfect for the kids. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a small indoor area and some outdoor seating for people to eat their food but it's more of a takeout style than sit down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have other chicken dishes and snacks and drinks here too! There's plenty of parking in this plaza and it can get busy.

    Popcorn chicken and mushroom!

Shihlin is by far my favorite Taiwanese snack spot - especially for popcorn chicken, chicken thigh, and the mushroom! The spice level and seasoning is a great combo to the nicely fried snacks (perf crisp and meaty, not overbattered). Always gotta stop by here when I'm in the area!

This place is delicious! One of my favorites for street food like bites. I often get their popcorn chicken and have yet to venture out to anything else, because it is always so good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store is fairly small with a few tables. It feels a tad snug in the store, so I never choose to sit inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Grandma's braised pork rice
    Tina A.

Got to say I'm impressed with this mall food Braised pork rice - I prefer this one too the ones in Taiwan as this didn't have as much lard and the pickled greens were sweeter. Everything was on point with the滷肉舖飯 Popcorn chicken - made non spicy due to the cashier/ cook (same guy) and his keen observation that I had my toddler with me Aiyu lemon - on the sweet side though half sweetness was requested, I appreciate how he explained there wasn't caffeine Service was excellent by the Mexican cashier/ cook and everything was well executed. He really is a gem Overall i would return if I'm back at this food court!

This Shihlin is located in the busy 99 Ranch plaza, but they move pretty quickly even on the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a self serve kiosk and a couple of small tables inside for those looking to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the popcorn chicken and crispy oyster mushrooms, along with a couple of teas. Everything was yummy and on par with other Shihlin locations. I also enjoy their teas if I'm just looking for a simple refreshing drink. The crispy oyster mushrooms and XXL chicken thigh are by far my favorite menu items at any Shihlin so I highly recommend those if you haven't had them before!

    Chicken meal (4 stars)
    Victor L.

4.5 stars is my true rating. XXL chicken here is very good. If you order the meal, keep in mind that you lose a little of the crispness. Their ordering kiosk works great. Use your phone number and you get a text when your food is ready (less than 8 minutes). [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a waiting area but that's about it. I saw maybe 2 tables so this is mainly a takeout place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] + XXL Chicken thigh is juicy and crispy but a little less crispy when you have it with rice because of the steam in the rice (5 stars) + The meal deal makes most sense if you're hungry because a side of rice, broccoli/veggies, ground pork/tofu and tea egg all add up to like $6 extra whereas the meal deal is $14. However, the ground pork and tofu is just mid. (4 stars) The xxl chicken as a snack is $11. Popcorn chicken here is $11 (basically same chicken but cut smaller pieces). I'll definitely be back.

Minnesota sucks bro. We need to amp up our cuisine, especially when it comes to street food (food trucks don't count). If you find yourself deadlocked and craving on some crunchy, crispy, chicken ASMR TikTok videos then Californians are lucky to have this business around. It appears Shihlin are proud of making their most of their food "crunchy" and savory, which makes me feel you can't go wrong with any options. This is my second time here ordering the tender and juicy popcorn chicken, and it never disappoints.

    Grandma Braised Chicken Rice
    Ivan B.

I've been seeing this establishment in malls and other shopping centers. I see that the food looks good based on what I saw on the menu and so, I decided to try here. I wanted to get the Grandma Braised Chicken Rice since it's much affordable costing only around $11. It's a lot of ground meat and hearty ingredients filled in a bowl. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a very small place, which isn't really good to dine-in in my opinion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was quite shocked with how quick the service is. I was expecting it to be a little longer though since prepping a meal like this seems to take long.

    Breanna N.

Experience (4/5 stars): *Food: the XXL chicken thigh and crispy king oyi-shi mushroom were delicious! Both were crispy and seasoned well. *Price: spent around ~$20 Overall, I'd come back here again!

I haven't had the food from Shihlin Taiwan street snacks for years because its food weren't really good and it is pricy. As I didn't know what's for lunch and I just happened to be at Milpitas Ranch 99 square, I thought of having a take-out from this restaurant for the reason quick and easy (not for tasty). I had oyster noodles. It amazed me this time. The taste definitely improved. It is more Taiwanese like now, but a bit salty...but still fine to enjoy Its staff was friendly. No others customers, so I got my order quick. What's even nice... its rewards is able to convert to $$ to deduct on the order! It is great!

    XXL chicken thigh
    Mingshi H.

One of the best fried chicken spots!! This place has my heart; their xxl chicken thigh is so good. It's perfectly crispy on the outside and has tender and juicy meat on the inside. I hope they have one in SoCal soon! Parking is usually pretty easy unless it's rush hour but the parking lot for the plaza is huge. Right when you walk into the shop, there's a kiosk you can order from, but you could also order at the front. There usually isn't a long wait after you order, and you can get their xxl chicken cutlet half cut or fully cut (I usually get it fully cut since they slice it into pieces, making it easy to eat/share). And their portions are HUGE! super worth it for the price & portion size

    Treasure Rice Box
    Leeann L.

I've been coming to shihlin street snacks for at least the past 7 years or so! It's always a solid option especially for the value. The treasure rice box is always a solid go-to and it comes packed to the brim. I'm a big fan of the way the pepper really shines through the cutlet and also the sides that it comes with makes it a pretty solid bento. Their combos are also a decent deal as well currently with a drink and bento ringing you in at $18. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely more of a fast casual place but you really can't go wrong with shihlin and it'll always be somewhere I go to whenever I'm in the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Oyster Omelette
    Winston L.

I'm writing this review from Taiwan because I was reminded of how tasty this place is back home and this version of fried chicken is not super common. One of the most satisfying snacks I've had in the last few years was the XXL Chicken Thigh (Zha Ji Pai) - spicy, flavorful with five spice, crispy on the outside and a little gooey/chewy from the sweet potato starch batter. We also liked the Oyster Omelette, a decent version of it here.
