As soon as you walk in the smell of food hits you (so yummy) It smells so amazing and it's pretty clean. The food is never going to be a letdown and has a bunch of different varieties to choose from. However, there's two downsides to this place, which made me give it four out of five stars. First, they can be pretty rude there. It's not bad service, definitely not the worst that I've experienced. But it ruins the mood. Second, there's only one stall in the women's bathroom. I know this isn't the biggest issue nor can be changed, but I wasn't a big fan. Overall, I will keep coming back because the food is really good and the place is nice and kept clean. I would just say keep an eye out for the service. I go to China Delight on Cottle Road for Chinese every 7 to 10 days, usually carry-out. I'm the kind of customer they like; I know what to order, place my order by phone, and tip, even for to-go food. Last week, my order wasn't up, so I ordered a beer to pass the wait time. The cashier charged me $13 and became indignant when I balked at the price! He told me "I was getting PREMIUM beer, in a BIG BOTTLE - 16 oz!" A moment later, a 12-oz. bottle was dropped off at my table, only partially chilled and without even a glass! I wanted to complain long and loud, but the place was busy, so I deferred to others waiting to order or pick up. We decided to try this place out. We had hot and sour soup, broccoli beef, Lemon chicken. Tea is not served in a pot, but individual cups with tea bags. (and cost $3.50). I miss those old traditions. The food was decent. the lemon chicken had lots of flavor; the broccoli beef needed more flavor. The soup was ok. One thing that really caught our eye was the amount of self-marketing they had. Celebrated my mom's 85th birthday at China Delight tonight. This is one of my family's favorite restaurants; we've been coming here for years. There was no wait for six of us at 5:30pm on a Saturday night, even though it was pretty busy. We ordered lots of food-- egg flower soup, broccoli beef, chicken and veggies, lemon chicken, steamed rice, and my favorite, egg foo young. I have not dined-in yet, but the establishment is clean and the ambiance is more upscale (they have some red lanterns and TVs playing live sports). Some dishes can be pretty pricey and it can add up. But I have tried other Chinese places in the neighborhood that were cheaper. Needless to say, the taste does not compare! I think China Delight uses higher quality ingredients. My mom said she heard this place was pretty good so wanted to give it a try. We both wanted to order lunch specials and asked if we could pay the difference for the wor wonton soup instead of the hot and sour soup. No substitutions or altering the menu on any of the lunch meals. I asked if I can get the swet and sour prawns but have them sautéed instead of fried. He said no I cant. Again... can't change anything about their menu. Many other Chinese food restaurants will cook food the way a customer wants. Sadly this place will not.. yet another not so great thing about this place. I told him I want something that isnt fried. He said I could get the shrimp and veggies so I said sure with fried rice. We also ordered 2 of the buns that come with the duck meal because they looked good in pictures. Service here was not good. We got our meal and the waiter disappeared. The rice was very blah with no veggies, no nothing in it. I didn't see the waiter anywhere so I took the soy sauce from a table that had just finished. We finished our meal and I asked if I could get my soup to go since he forgot to give it to us before the meal. He brought the hot and sour soup and left. A different guy came to take our plates and I asked for a to go container for the soup. They will NOT let you take the soup home because its "free" he said. It's part of your lunch meal so you PAY for it. He kept saying its free. I told him I wasn't going to argue with him and that all he's going to do is throw it away It's not like someone walks in and he gives them a free cup of soup just for coming. Outrageous. The sauce was on the sweeter side but still good General chicken (4/5)- reminds me a bit of the orange chicken but without the tanginess. Nice crispiness, good flavor, just wasn't spicy. Had some for leftovers a few days later and it was still good even when it wasn't crispy. Would get again! Combination fried rice (3.5/5)- what you'd expect from fried rice.
