Terrible service, okay food. My family and I have been coming to May Flower for years, before and after the ownership change. The food has ranged from acceptable to decent - depending on the dish you get. Recently we went back and the female waitress, (who I do not believe is part of the ownership), treated us terribly. Between complaining that we came in before she was ready (it was a few minutes past opening already), to scowling at us when we asked for water, then subsequently slamming the water cups down - it was an all around absurdly bad experience to remember. It's unfortunate because I liked a few of their home-style dishes, but I will not stand to be treated poorly like this for no apparent reason.

Discovered this gem on TikTok and I've been here twice in the last month. It's easy to drive by it without knowing what you're missing. Food: We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people both times we came. There was enough food to take home. Our favorites were the string beans with beef, wontons with hot sauce and the chicken fried rice. Every dish had a different taste to it and we liked the variety of flavors Service: You come in and they'll tell you where to sit then you scan the QR code to order. They serve you hot tea while you wait for your food. We waited less than 15 minutes for our food to start coming out Both times we came there were other people but still enough places to sit. It's a simple, clean restaurant and has quickly become one of our favorite Chinese restaurants! Will definitely come back. Only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because I prefer lower sodium than most people

Cute little spot with a very wholesome ambiance. The various noodles I tried were good. My favorite dish was the fried eggplant. Service was friendly.

Piece of metal in the fish with spicy sauce

Am a regular at lunch so I tried takeout dinner, but ended up with a random piece of metal in my fish with spicy sauce

The kitchen is efficient. The pricing is super reasonable by today's standards. Two dishes that will keep me coming back are their scallion pancake and tea smoked duck. Absolutely authentic Chinese. Could not be improved. I'm eager to try more dishes.

We love to come here for Chinese since it is close by to where we live. The food usually comes quick and the selection is good.

Ask the Community - May Flower Restaurant

What days and times do they serve dim sum?

Only early on weekends and it's so so

Do the Xiao Long Baos have shrimp in them?

Are they open in thanksgiving?

Yes we will be open on thanksgiving.

Is xlb offered weekend only?

No. They serve it all day (lunch/dinner) mid week and weekends. My sister and I have been at least a dozen times since we've found this place. Never had them tell us otherwise. Enjoy!

Is dimsum offered on weekdays?

The answer is yes. They have it listed on their menu for the weekend but I come in often and get things off the menu mid week as well. Just ask for what you want and they'll accommodate

How does this place compare to the XLB from Din Tai Fung?

For the price, I'd pick this place. Din Tai Fung is pretty pricey.

You place your order through a QR code, which makes the process quick and easy. This visit, we ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings, Tidu Sliced Beef Pot, and Tianjin Eggplant. The wings are a must-order here. They're always perfectly fried and crispy on the outside while still staying juicy and tender inside. The Tidu Sliced Beef Pot reminded me of a dry hot pot. It had a great mala flavor with a subtle numbing sensation, and the peanuts added a nice crunch and texture to the dish. The Tianjin Eggplant was simple but delicious, with flavorful pork that paired really well with the soft eggplant. Overall, the food here is comforting and satisfying. It's a place I'll definitely keep coming back to.

It's in a busy complex, but there was enough parking. When I walked in, I noticed they had a half-empty dining room but a ton of to-go orders wrapped up, including mine. I really loved the Mongolian beef, and the eggplant dish we got was good too. The chow mein was good. I did like the cucumber salad, but it would be better if it were sliced smaller, so the marinade could infuse the cucumbers. Service was friendly. Food was very fresh. I did notice the portion sizes were generous and we had plenty of leftovers!

I do wish they had a soup option for vegetarians but it's pretty hard to get a good veggie broth so it's understandable. what we got: cucumber salad (5/10 yums): I think the reason why I rate this so low is because of preference. I almost always get cucumber salad at restaurants. However, this cucumber salad was just a tad bit bland and had WAY too much cilantro. I usually do like cilantro, but it was way too much. hot and sour woodear salad (7/10 yums): Although I did enjoy this, I do feel like I've had better woodear salads before. This one had a strong lemon taste which kind of threw me off, but I personally liked the onions that went with it. chicken rice noodles (10/10 yums): my GO TO. I like how it is refreshing and not too oily or heavy. I love how there is an option for low salt, which I usually go for. Golden triangle (8/10 yums): I usually prefer soup rice noodles, but this is a great option for vegetarians. It is heavily spiced and has the option for spicy or non-spicy.

We arrived around 12:30pm, and were seated immediately at the corner of the communal table. Service was bare minimal but efficient. We ordered via a QR code, and helped ourselves to the water already at the table. There's a self-serve sauce bar near the entrance as well. The restaurant wasn't too big inside and there was a short line outside while we're there. The line went away pretty quickly, though. Food came out within 10 minutes after placing our order. I had their Signature Free Range Chicken Big-bus Miishien Soup for the "crossing the bridge noodles" experience. The broth was piping hot and very flavorful. I put all the fixings and noodles into the broth except the cashew nuts and the chicken, which I put in right before I was about to eat them. The chicken was very lean and tender. I even ate the skin as there's no fat attached to it. I also loved the texture of the noodles. The mushroom was great, just too little of it. I wish they had used corn ribs or another vegetable as the corn kernels were very hard to fish from the broth. While it was a delicious and satisfying bowl of noodles, the "Big-bus" version was a bit overpriced. Our daughter liked her Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien Soup (Less Spicy), especially how the mini Chinese donuts soaked up the broth. I had a bit of her broth and ground pork, and it was yummy with just a bit of numbing spininess. We both liked their pickles from the sauce bar and at the table. My husband enjoyed his Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien Soup with free extra miishien as well. After selecting Checkout on Chowbus, payment was done via a staff who came by. I signed up for their rewards program when I ordered, and got 10% off. I would love to come back and try their spicy beef noodles. I noticed a promo sign outside the restaurant for some of their noodle dishes (@$12.99) from Monday to Thursday, during specific hours.
