I saw the viral reels about the salt and pepper chicken wings from Evergreen Panda. I had to try them out. We arrived on a Monday afternoon for lunch. The Chinese take out restaurant is located in a plaza in San Jose off White Road and Aborn Road. Parking is accessible in the large parking lot out front. The restaurant is clean and the modern decor is simple. There are a few tables inside for dine in but it appears this is mainly a take out restaurant. I ordered a salt and pepper wings and walnut shrimp. Both dishes were tasty. The salt and pepper wings were crispy and moist in the inside. The wings were flavorful and scrumptious with every bite. The walnut shrimp were crispy and sweet. Unfortunately the cream sauce was underwhelming. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Evergreen Panda. The staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was welcoming and family friendly. The restaurant reminded me of a local neighborhood favorite. Price point was fair especially for the portion sizes. I will be back to order other popular items from the menu.

Hands down, one of my ultimate comfort/ favorite spots in the Evergreen Area. Evergreen Panda is a great spot for those craving some good, Chinese soul food. I am basing my review off take out since I don't usually eat there* It's nestled in the plaza off Aborn Rd and White so parking shouldn't be an issue. The inside isn't extremely huge, but there are tables - though there are times when the tables are put out. But if you go up Aborn a bit, there's Evergreen Square where you can sit and enjoy the sun! Definitely call ahead of time if you are doing platters, but they also offer 2-3 item combo plates! Every time I have visited, the staff is pretty kind and get your order out to you as soon as possible. OKAY THE FOOD: * Chow Mein: delicious. you CANNOT go wrong with this item, it's perfectly made and gives the authentic "take out chow mein" taste * Salt and Pepper Pork/ Wings/ Calamari/ Shrimp/ etc.: Literally anything that's salt and pepper, I LOVE. My family and I usually get the salt & pepper pork or wings, depending on what we're feeling. 20/10 would recommend. * Honey Walnut Shrimp/ Chicken: Another all time favorite dish here - they somehow get the shrimp/ chicken crispy despite it being in the sauce. LOVE. * Chicken Green Beans: A classic, but also SO DANG GOOD. Please note that if you are getting an entree, expect your plate to be STUFFED. happy eating! x

I knew when I seen the recent video review on Instagram of the salt and pepper wings from this place that they would be good. On my way back from Central Coast CA, I popped in an hour before closing on a Thursday night. Evergreen Panda was busy with customers and it looked like it would be a long wait, I was wrong. I ordered the salt and pepper wings togo, of course and my meal came out within 15 minutes. As soon as I got in my car and popped the top on the Togo box, my entire car was enveloped with the smell of onion, garlic, pepper, chicken and jalapeños. That first bite was, HOT, CRISPY, JUICY and FLAVORFUL. I would be remiss if I told you these were the best salt and pepper chicken wings I've had. Evergreen panda fills the container to the top and doesn't skimp. I even had leftovers for the next day and threw them in the air fryer to get them crisp again. Price point is great too.

They definitely don't mess around with the portion sizes! This was my first time trying Evergreen Panda, and it might be one of the best hole-in-the-wall spots I've been to. My girlfriend and I ordered five dishes: BBQ pork fried rice, BBQ pork chow fun, orange chicken, salt and pepper chicken wings, and green beans with garlic sauce. Every dish was packed with flavor, and nothing felt like an afterthought. The salt and pepper chicken wings absolutely lived up to the hype--super crispy, well-seasoned, and easily our favorite. Between the generous portions, reasonable prices, and consistently delicious food, this place is an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be back!

    Waiting area. No tables available.

It's a hidden gem in the Evergreen area. Way better than commercialized Panda Express. I'm so sad I can't gate keep this business because honestly the food is too good to keep a secret! The front desk worker is always the same woman; she gets my order and that's all I need! No need for special how are you doing, nice to see you, how's everything nonsense- she's got customers always coming in and they're always busy! Those who know- KNOW. But here's a tip: the phone is unreliable- your best bet for an order would be to come in person**** Portion servings are always way more than you need- there's a TON of value for the price point they give; one of the top reasons of why I always keep coming back. The food is delicious! Definitely recommend the bbq chicken fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Seating area is more so just for waiting for pickup. No sit down and eat since tables are stacked up. Ignore the dust and cobwebs ambiance because trust me the food is worth it. I'm going to go here forever!

This is my plate of fried rice and sweet and sour chicken.

My 1st time visiting this location and it will probably be my last. My honest review is that the customer service was horrible and the food was mid. The cashier was very unprofessional and she looked very unhappy behind the counter, like she definitely didn't want to be there. I mentioned to her that it was my 1st time visiting and if I could see their menu and she just kept looking at me without saying a word and rolled her eyes and pointed at the menu taped on the counter top. I ordered the items that I was recommended from a friend and paid. Me and my family were the only ones there at the location at the time, Some people came in and placed an order and somehow they got their food before us it was 3 different people too. When I finally received our food, I got up to ask for some hot sauce and they lady didn't want to give me any she said she didn't have any when there was a huge box right beside her. I pointed at the box and ask once again if I could please have some of that hot sauce and pointed at the box and she again rolled her eyes at me and handed me a few packets. I personally don't like the chili oil sauce they have at the table I understand there was some were we where sitting at, but I didn't think it would be a problem to ask for something different to have some with my foods. The food was decent, the portion was enough for the 2 plates I order enough to feed 4 and extra but I feel like the whole experience that I had with this lady just ruined it for me in going back to visit this location. I wasn't not rude to her I didn't do anything to cause any type of trouble and I don't appreciate being treated how she was being with me. I don't know if this has happened with other customers but there you have it. 2 stars for the food 0 stars for the lady who was taking my order. Go try at your own risk but I would definitely go somewhere else!

Went in to order a combo plate because I heard this is the spot to go to. Cashier stated, that they aren't doing combo plates. I then asked what I could order and she just pointed at the menu. THE MENU HAS COMBO PLATES ON IT. I then went to attempt to use the restroom and of course it was out of service. The environment isn't welcoming at all and to think I drove an hour just to get told they weren't doing combo plates.

Evergreen panda has been a favorite for a lot of individuals for a while. I went and ordered fried rice orange chicken. It came out quick. The food was decent, I believe it could have been better, but was unique and has a like able taste. Quantity is where evergreen panda excels. The plate was overflowing and was filled with food. I enjoyed it and was somehow able to get everything down. I would come back to this place, especially if i'm very hungry.

    Huge portions!!!

Omgggggg talk about love at first bite. I will keep this short and simple. It's authentic. It's old school. It's delicious. Huge portions. It's very reasonably priced!!! You cannot find places like this anymore. We need to continue to support local mom and pop old school places like Evergreen Panda because it's hard to find hole in the wall places nowadays!!!! I love the old school vibes!!! You cannot duplicate this!!! The Mongolian beef was so freaking good. The orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken were so good too!!! I cannot wait to try everything here!!! The portions are huge too did I mention? I've always had this place bookmarked but only recently made my way here and now I am kicking myself for wasting all these years of not eating here!!! I would even say this is the best Chinese fast food I've ever had in my life!!!!! 1000/10!!!!! You can play with card there are no fees. You order, pay, and wait for the food. There is a restroom and if you gotta go, you gotta. Overall this place easily became my new favorite Chinese fast food restaurant!!!!!

The food is tasty and large quantity for the price. Plus it definitely fills you up; great comfort food. But the downside is it is super greasy and the meat dishes don't have very much meat. They are civil and give matter-of-fact customer service but I guess you're not ordering from Evergreen Panda for the service. There are places to sit but most people pick up to go. Pro tip: At peak times you should order waaaay in advance. They get so many orders it could take 45 minutes sometimes.

    Andrew N.

I thought this place was going to be similar to Panda Expreess or other Chinese takeouts with all the food prepared for you to look at and they just add whatever you want to the plate. But they make the food in the back after you order. I guess it's made to order and makes your food fresher? I got the three plate dish. Peking pork (5/5): This was definitely my favorite food from the plate. It was sweet and super soft, so packed with flavor! Chow mein (3/5): This was very mushy as it tasted like cafeteria food. Wonton (3/5): The wontons were very dry. The meat filling was dry as well. I think place surpassed my expectations, but I think I'd prefer Panda Express

I can't believe I'm just reviewing my local Chinese takeout. I've been coming here for years. Food is average but portions are huge. Today I ordered 4 entrees and the total was around $60. Prices are creeping up as of late but it's still a decent value. You can feed a family of 5 adults and then some for leftovers. My Ratings: + Salt and pepper spareribs is what got me to frequent this establishment as they are greasy good. Any of their salt and pepper dishes are very good here. (5 stars) + Orange chicken has a little spice as far as for kids but I find it sweet and crispy for adults. But overnight or if you have a long drive back, it softens up and you lose the crispness. (4 stars) + Any combo item here is very generous in portion but I prefer the single entree and just make rice at home (4 stars) - Beef chow fun is a humongous portion but you better consume it all or else the rice noodles will stick together the following day. This order unfortunately had a strong beefy flavor which my wife couldn't take. (3 stars) - Service is non existent as this is mainly a takeout place, but they do get you in and out quickly if you ordered by phone. (3 stars) - The decor and ambience is also nonexistent but who really cares for Chinese takeout I've ordered various items here but above are my regular orders. Hope this helps!

I just called the restaurant trying to order a 3 item combination and and rice plate and the girl answers the phone said there is none, individual orders only. What is going on?

They do have 3 item combinations. She was probably confused.

Anyone know how much for a large party tray of salt & pepper calamri?

$120.99, at least that was the price last month

It says call to order, but it takes me to voicemail. Are there other ways to order?

I don't think so. Best is to just go there and wait for the food

    Do you deliver?

    No they don't

We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!

This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
