[2.5-star] We recently ordered first time for our event. We love that we could place an order online as we know the language barrier and the service can be offputting over the phone. We wish there were a way also to put in special requests or instructions with our order. The order had to be pre-paid before pick up, which is typical. We received an email confirmation shortly after payment was processed. Everything seemed to be in place, and I was excited to enjoy and share the food at our gathering. I decided to take a chance the next day by calling the restaurant, since no email was provided for communication, to verify if a later pickup time may be possible. I was passed on from the first gal answering the phone to what sounded like an older woman speaking. She came on the telephone rudely and was curt. It took her some time to find my order as she kept telling me that it did not exist even though I provided her my order number, name, the amount charged, and when I placed the order. I kept calm and politely waited for her to locate our order because things can happen, and since our friends and family have used the place before for events, I wasn't too worried that it would work out. When she confirmed our order was located, she abruptly hung up the phone before I could inquire about pickup. I gave up. I did not want to repeat that unpleasant phone call with the order-filler lady again. We arrived promptly at the promised time and expected there might be a brief wait. Finding a parking spot was the pit on the weekend, but if you're patient, someone is always coming and leaving. The place is spacious inside, with ample seating areas. Upon checking in, the lady who was filling orders told us our order was not ready, and that was all. Ten minutes in, the older lady who was filling all orders told us another five more minutes, then ten minutes had passed, and she continued to fill other orders without further communication with us. There was another person before us waiting for his order, and he, too, appeared displeased and frustrated. We waited almost an hour before the deli completed our order, which was a small order compared to others. No comps, not an apology. How much extra would it have cost to throw even an egg roll or shrimp ball, or even a fortune cookie into our order? How about a cup of tea while we wait? Had we not prepaid and it was already to the last minute of our event, we would have left and given up our order. Things happen in the kitchen with cooks, and orders may get delayed, but good customer service, a little courtesy of kindness, or an apology goes a long way. Person taking my order was rude. It's loud, we have masks that understandably muffle our voices. I thought she asked if I wanted a small size chow mein, I say yes. Use to come here often as a child, and it's just as I remember it (just with higher prices). It's a good place to grab a bite to eat, if you're just craving fried foods. They also have Dim sum and other options to choose from, but I typically come here for the fried foods. It's a place that I have returned to, but there's really nothing special about it, which is the reason why I didn't give it a higher rating. It's just not a place that I would really recommend to my friends, unless they really wanted to eat here. I will say that I appreciate that they give 4 items in their dim sum menu, because I'm used to items coming in 3's for Dim sum (but these are a little smaller than normal). ~~Parking: Shared parking lot b/c it's located in a plaza. I did forget how crazy the traffic and parking can be on a weekend, but if you happen to hit it when the time is right, the food here is on point and priced right. So sick of Vietnamese restaurants and shops with RUDE employees!! Don't work in retail or service industry if you don't want to offer great customer service. I made an online order and got a call back from them saying that they no longer have the pork buns and the entire order need to be canceled. Sure, that's fine, no problem. Guys, if you are placing online orders be sure to choose pickup date/time prior to ordering and payment. So I had to call them back in person and another lady picked up but had trouble understanding me in English so she passed the phone to another employee and said in Vietnamese "nói với con nhỏ này đi...". Translation: "talk to this girl ..." Unfortunately for her, I am fluent in Vietnamese and her tone and choice of words were just so obnoxious and unmannerly. Excuse me??? King Eggroll had a nice small variety of steamed dim sum items for sale at 8am: siu mai (pork dumpling), har gow (shrimp dumpling), scallop dumpling, braised chicken feet, pork spare ribs. I opted for an order of the scallop dumplings and the siu mai, which were good and filling. Each order comes with 3 or 4 pieces and cost $3.95. Egg rolls were sold by the piece, and you had the choice between pork and chicken. I ordered 2 pork egg rolls, which were loosely filled with ground pork and shredded cabbage. Nice and crunchy, without being greasy. Wish the filing was more packed so that each bite gave you a good mouthful of both pork and cabbage. I accidentally bit into the burnt end on one and heard a cracking sound. It scared me... I thought maybe I had cracked a tooth. But it turns out it was just the rock-hard burnt outer shell. Rating: 0 out of 5 Chow Mein: I also ordered a small party tray of chicken chow mein. A few of the noodles and carrots were blackened/burnt (probably just a byproduct of being wok/pan cooked on high heat) but otherwise it tasted reasonable. I'm happy to report the chicken was tender. The foods are great but do not expect professional service from this place: Tried to order over the phone: 10 pork egg-rolls, 30 fried won-ton, 20 shrimp balls and 20 fried banana and was told the order is small so no need to order it in advance, just come in! Came in and trying to order the foods displayed in the trays by pointing at the desired foods but was told "no", had to be ordered at the first register which is located at the order end of the L-shaped counter where all other foods that I didnt want displayed,LOL.
