I have visited this location one other time, that visit is what led us back this visit. I have tried a few Gyros since I've been living in Indianapolis area and I have been impressed with very few. I believe there is one in the fashion Mall area that is okay but no one gives great options in this area unfortunately. Today we got two gyro plates, one have an extra meat, one with a Greek salad the other with fries, also a cheeseburger with fries, all came with drinks. Not pictured is the cheese sticks that ultimately we were not charged for. We were greeted by a nice young lady who kind of talked us through options for ordering like gyroa combo versus a gyros plate etc. She wasn't rushing and she wasn't stressed out or tired of the questions. The food came out rather quickly, and I noticed the absence of the cheese sticks that I ordered, she probably just honestly did not hear me and she told me not to worry about it, I told her that I could pay she repeated not to worry about it and they were ready within a few minutes. She was far too kind. Keep in mind King gyros is a nice little drive from where I live, how about 40 minutes, and we went during rush hour, but the experience was wonderful. The food was hot and fresh including the fries which were seasoned nicely with salt. The only downside to that is that the only companion brand name is Hunt and not Heinz and I'm partial to Heinz ketchup . The sandwich was loaded with enough meat and it already came with enough tzatziki sauce which was not watery and filled with chunks of cucumbers. It was perfectly flavored, nice and thick and though I ordered extra it wasn't really needed. Today we sat down indoors and ate. Now during the downtime a little cleaning could take place as some of the tables needed attention but I was too emerged in the delightfulness of my meal to make that a concern of mine. Very skimpy on the gyro meat! If you're familiar with gyros then you know they come with too much meat to fold them. This place is all pita! You can fold the gyro and bite the entire thing in one bite! Very skimpy! You can fold it like a soft shell taco! Took my wife out to lunch the other day, place was close by thought we'd check it out. We both ordered the gyro with feta, I got double meat she ordered the combo with salad and a drink. Order at counter they call your number, maybe a 10 min wait, everything fresh and hot, gave me two orders of fries I didn't order and told me to keep em. Double meat gyro was killer, I crushed that thing and could have eaten another. Fries were not my style, I ate a few but not worth the carb count for me. I've been to King Gyros on multiple occasions. They offer a drive-thru which has only been my encounter with the restaurant. They have a lot of options available on the menu and its affordable. The portion size is pretty large on orders. In my opinion you can definitely split a meal. Also it's conveniently located on the south side. When I went twice we ordered chicken gyros. Ordered King Gyro on Grub Hub. Ordered two #20s (two two-Chicago dog meals). Grub Hub delivers a total of two hot dogs, not four. Called them saying two dogs were missing and the woman said she didn't know that a #19 is one dog and a #20 is two, and she couldn't help. In the same way that early '80s cars are just never going to be classics, this circa-1983 Pizza Hut is never quite going to make it work as local dive. It's just plain old. Had an early afternoon appointment on the Wild South Side (we don't get down here much), so "Yelped" lunch places near Madison Ave and King's Gyros looked like a good bet. The restaurant seems to be in a former chain fast food building, and is roomy and has comfortable booths, as well as a busy drive-through clientele. Quite a large menu for this kind of place, with a variety of different types of "lunchie" food, but we went for the Gyros. $6.19 gets one a hefty load of meat, onions, tomatoes and sauce on a nice tender pita, a very large helping of hot crispy fries and a drink. She had a gyro and Greek salad combo, but the combination of the two was really too much to do justice to, although the salad was fresh and tasty. If and when I am in the neighborhood again I will be sure to give some of the other menu items a try - the cheeseburger or hot dogs sound pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. read more

I enjoy their food. Prices are fair. But the last three times I have been there I have pulled into the parking lot drove around the building took a look at how tall the weeds and how dirty the outside of the building looked I just kept driving to another place to eat. I called the manager and told them they need to start cutting the grass and doing some weed trimming around there it looks awful. This is exactly what you want in a divey, quick service diner sort of place. When I say quick, I mean QUICK -- your order will likely be ready faster than it would be at a chain fast food restaurant, and the food is significantly better and not that much more expensive. My guy and I split a gyro platter (which comes with fries -- maybe it's called the gyro special?) and a chili cheese dog. We ate until we were stuffed, and still brought a few leftovers home. The food is simple and tasty -- nothing fancy (and nothing healthy), but definitely delicious. The only downside was that the ratio of gyro meat to tzatziki sauce was woefully lacking -- a big pile of meet, but a tiny little container of sauce. The restaurant is a bit worn-out looking inside, but was decently clean. The folks working here were friendly. Typically I don't frequent this part of town just because I never really found anything over here that I needed in my life. Well today that changed! My other half kept going on and on about how great of a place this was. I was skeptical but decided to eventually give in and give them a shot. I for one am not a huge fan of Gyros, but they aren't the worst thing in the world either. When we arrived I found the building itself to be anything but amazing. It looks like maybe an old Burger King, Wendy's or maybe even a Hardees. They've painted it obviously to make it their own but it still reminds me of a chain fast food building. Walking, in that feeling of a very old, outdated fast food joint is all that I could think of. They've modified it a little on the inside to meet their needs but overall the place is just down right old. The flooring I believe is the original which makes it look very dirty (idk why but food places always pick bad colors for flooring which makes them look dirty). The girl behind the counter, smiled and said hi almost as soon as we walked in. We stood towards the back as to figure out what we wanted, and allow other people to jump ahead if they needed. Since I am not a huge fan of the Gyro, I went with the double bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. What I was expecting was a low-grade beef that was fried on both sides and overwhelmingly greasy. None of that was actually the case. It didn't take long for our order to come out. I was surprised to see that the burger was actually not the bottom of the barrel that I was expecting. Now don't; get me wrong, it is in no way top of the line beef - but it wasn't bad. When I bit into it...another surprise. It tastes like it was grilled over an open flame. Just like when we would grill out when I was a kid. The burger had good flavor and I overall was very impressed with my selection. I was not, however, impressed with the onion rings. Remember when Burger King tried to give us onion rings? Well that's what they use. Those same small, onion chunk, onion rings that Burger King tried in the late 90s. Besides the very outdated look the place seemed to be clean. I saw the girl come out from behind the counter and wipe down some tables, as well as vacuum the floor around them. Overall I was very impressed with the place. You just have to get past the physical appearance of the place - and you'll be happy as the food is great.
