We know Atlantic City is an expensive tourist trap, so $18 nachos didn't shock us. We were in the mood for trashy bar food and each ordered a plate: my partner got chicken, I got beef. Before ordering, I specifically confirmed the beef was GROUND beef, not steak, and was assured it was. The nachos were fine, but my "ground beef" was very clearly pre-made hamburger patties--probably frozen--broken into pieces, not seasoned ground beef prepared for nachos. But again: bar food. We also each ordered a $12 dessert: chocolate mousse with whipped cream for him and banana custard for me. What arrived was basically chocolate and banana pudding, likely straight from an industrial can. Okay then. The real problem came with the bill: we were charged an additional $10 for the chicken and $7 for the beef, the latter appearing only as a generic line item. The menu CLEARLY says: "choice of jerk chicken, beef or seasonal veggies." It says absolutely nothing about an upcharge. Everyone understands that if a listed choice costs extra, the menu needs to SAY so. In no world am I paying $28 for nachos with chicken. I brought this to the attention of the bartender and our waiter, and the bartender actually AGREED that the menu clearly says "choice of" implying you choose which one you want on your $18 nachos. The waiter, however, was argumentative and it became very awkward. Ultimately and reluctantly the additional charges were removed, with the caveat that "next time" we visit we will know. There will not be a next time. :\

The employees do not care about their customers. I used to go here a lot when i was a kid, and it used to be great. On my recent visit there was a misunderstanding with the lanes, which is understandable. But the lady behind the desk made me feel like it was my fault, i didn't choose the lanes they put us on. So she moved us to different lanes, and it was fine. The problems started when we had paid $16 a person for galactic bowling and they turned the lights on where our lanes were, not on anyone else just us. When i ask an employee who the manager was, she rudely snapped that it was the young lady at the front desk. So when i took my concern to the lady at the front desk where she again started to give me attitude, all while another employee stood behind me and laughed the entire time. The young lady told me that she was not the manager and she could not issue me a refund and if i wanted to do anything i would have to call the next day and speak to the owner. Then another employee, an older gentleman, came up and started yelling at me that he needed to grease the lanes. So i went back to our lanes and my friends and i continued to "galactic" bowl with the lights on, while all the employees stood at the front desk and watch us the entire time. When a fight broke out right next to us, not involving anyone from my party, and my friend went and broke it up the employees just stood there staring at us, not the fight. They than thanked my friend for breaking up the fight and than shut our bowling down. All the other lanes were able to continue bowling the rest of their games but we got shut down and told to leave. So 7 of us all paid $16 a person to galactic bowl with the lights on for an hour. We are all in our mid-late 20s and the employees there treated us like we were teenagers. If i could give 0 stars i would, this is not a friendly place to go. read more

After what just happened to me and my boyfriend tonight, I will NEVER give this place my business again. Because the worker at the front desk thought my boyfriend "snatched" the receipt out of his hand, we were physically confronted by not only him but then the MANAGER, a grown man, shouted at us in front of everyone, threatened us, would not even give us a refund for a measly $4, and as we were leaving proceeded to CHASE US OUT of the place, all the while basically threaten to "take this outside". I have never in my life been treated so unprofessionally, or been so embarrassed. The whole situation was blown out of proportion and should never have happened. We did not become confrontational in return, however the staff still continued to bully us in front of everyone. Please please please do not go here!!!! read more

The ghost in the room was Gypsy Bar, which used to offer actual live music on weekends. Closing it was, in my opinion, a small but meaningful cultural error. Now, between B Bar, Long Bar, and this place, the Borgata has achieved a kind of perfectly acceptable sameness. Three bars, none of them offensive, none of them memorable. My wife ordered her usual gin and tonic, a drink that asks for very little and is satisfied when it receives it. I went with a Sazerac, motivated by the presence of absinthe, which I had somehow avoided my entire life. It turns out absinthe does not cause hallucinations, unless you count the fleeting belief that you are having a more interesting drink than everyone else. Still, it was well made and nicely presented, as was hers. Service was slow, which felt odd given that the bar was not especially crowded. Not neglectful, just unhurried in a way that made you aware of time passing. Prices were what one expects in a casino hotel lobby. High enough to remind you where you are. In the end, it is fine. Perfectly fine. You'll probably get a pretty good drink, you might hear a pleasant song, and except for your wallet, you'll leave no worse off than when you arrived.
