I just recently started going back to this King Ribs location since it's very close to my job. I started out getting their yummy BBQ pork sandwiches with extra mild sauce on it. I like my BBQ pork a bit soggy makes it tastes so good to me. Well, earlier today for lunch I went to drive- thru where I ordered small rib tips, and one BBQ pork sandwich both with mild sauce. The ribs were very tender, and not even tough for me to bite since I have braces. The BBQ pork sandwich was good, very meaty, and very fulfilling. I actually went on a slow day there, and I know one of their busy days is on a Wednesday since they have a deal. King Ribs, is in a great location, not too far from Speedway, hospitals, and even downtown. King Ribs, are always grilling fresh ribs everyday, all day long. We've never actually eaten inside during the past 15 years, always carry out. Many steer away from the area but give it a try. The smoker leaves the air full of wonderful smoked flavors and your hungry before ever getting to the drive up. My favorite is the pulled chicken or pork, very good. We enjoy their hot BBQ sauce. Mac & Cheese is fairly consistent with a cheesey, thick, baked texture. Unless you only need a couple bites, order family size for yourself which is two normal size portions in our house or just one if your big eater or for a meal. BBQ beans and greens are good as well. Be aware! I love this place and it sucks to write this but: I went through the drive through last week and had a nightmare come true. I waited 15 mins and they finally took my drive thru order. Get to front and she takes my debit card. Hands it back My order of 4 chicken specials went from $23.95 to 293.35. I caught and she informed me she would credit the difference back. However the credit back receipt was 30.00 off. I sent my husband back. Awful. 4 days later I have yet to see a refund. I called my bank and talked to a manager there ...hoping it's credited back soon. But be careful. Nothing is worse than dealing with incorrect charges. You lost me King Ribs. The lady smiled, told me all about their meat options and their cheaper options for lunch. These could be as low as $7.00 before your drink. She told me what people Preferred and helped me make the right choices. While waiting, we made small talk. My order: I ordered the large half of the 1/2 rack, slaw on the side and white bread, with a soda. My bill was almost $18.00. I knew that as I ordered, but wanted the full experience. The ribs are delicious and sauce accompanying was sweet and savory. I asked for a mix of spice and sweet but there wasn't a lot of spice. Compared to: Being from NC, I already have a high bar for Anything that carries the description "BBQ". King Ribs would be in the top 20% of similar places back home which is why I have 4 stars. The smoke in the air will greet you and you know you made the right choice! We moved to Butler Tarkington area recently and we were looking for some great BBQ and pulled pork. Tonight was our first trip here to get takeout. We ordered the whole chicken and pulled pork and mild sauce. Succulent. Meat fell off the bones and was really good. Totally worth the stop when on the westside! THE BEST RIBS EVER! Yes I need to yell, they are that good. They are so big that we split a full rack and still have some left. We got the mild and the sauce was the perfect flavor. We got our order to go and they wrapped up the box which was awesome or it would have been all over our car I am sure. King Ribs is one of my special treats I do for myself when I can get a chance. The rib tips always have the beautiful bark and awesome flavor when you bite into one. I always choose the mixed sauce because in my opinion it's the perfect combo of sweet and spicy. They are always very pleasant every time I order and I love how they always seem happy. I love this place!!!!!! We were traveling back to Chicago from Kentucky and decided to try out southern BBQ in IN on Memorial Day. Everything we ordered turned out great! Terrible food. They barely have any sides and their rib tips are literally almost all fat and gristle! Their line is always ridiculously long(though I don't understand why bc their food is definitely overrated) a bit overpriced. Ordered chicken on bun sandwich with mild sauce, side of beans and drink. About 8 bucks. Chicken on bun (not much chicken) was covered with much too much sauce for me......and baked beans were unremarkable. Maybe should have ordered sauce on side. I love good BBQ. We have tried many BBQ places in Indpls and out of Indpls. Outside of my own BBQ ribs, King's on West 16th is the very best. The meat is tender, flavorful, and you get your money's worth. Even though they are extremely busy, they are still polite and treat everyone the same. There is another Kings on Keystone. I will never, ever go back there. It's much closer, but the last two times the meat was dry and hard. The people-Sometimes are rude.Yes, I will drive across town where the food is good and the people are very nice. Rainy day, but the smokers are going strong. Getting the large rib tips. The were so dried out they were beyond jerkey to the point it was like tree bark with bbq sauce on them. I went there today May 7 the 16th street location. I ordered the tip dinner. Took forever to get my order the place was packed. But the staff was disorganized food sat forever in the window because of it. Then when I made it home and opened the container it wasn't just tips it was mostly half a rib with LOTS of fat on them. When I go to King Rib I usually order the rib tips and they're usually really good. Was disappointed today. Will probably be awhile before I go back King Rib use to be my go to for Q.
