My first Egyptian food restaurant ! I ordered uber eats and here's everything I got : 1) samosa - pretty natural flavor . Not too exciting (3.5/5) 2) cosharee - an Egyptian cuisine classic . Was ok but felt like Mac n cheese w lentils . (3.3/5) 3) shrimp pizza - - sort of pizza - the dough is made out of a pretty bland pitta . It was ok , not more (2.8:5) Came w a small green salad which surprisingly very tasty (3.9/5) Also asked for utensils , but it was not included . Everything was excellent! This new location is smaller than the old location, but the food and service are still fantastic. The veggie Sharma is so tasty, it doesn't look look like much but it's packed with flavor. Overall, it's a cute spot and I'll be back. read more

Five stars all around the service, food and attention to detail was top notch. The staff attended to all of our requests extremely well and they paid very close attention to dietary restrictions. We ordered a Maza plate as an appetizer, which rocked! I ordered the King Tut combo because I can never make up my mind. Only thing I didn't do was to ask for my beef to be cooked medium rare but the chicken was very tender. I am was craving a falafel sandwich and happened to stumble upon King Tut's. I decided to place a takeout order and went with a falafel sandwich and baba ghanoush. Initially, I was torn between fries and hummus, but the owner's daughter, who was working at the counter, recommended the baba ghanoush as her favorite because of its spice and depth of flavor. I took her suggestion, and she was absolutely right--it was packed with both! The falafel sandwich itself was good, but I would have loved to see more toppings, like hummus and feta, to enhance the texture and flavor. In cities like D.C. and Chicago, many places offer a topping bar, or at the very least, a small upcharge for extras, so I was a little surprised by the simplicity of the sandwich. Additionally, they didn't offer extra sauces or a garlic sauce, which is something I've come to expect from similar restaurants, so that was a bit disappointing. That said, the service was friendly, and they provided a generous portion of pita bread with the baba ghanoush. The young woman also recommended their eggplant sandwich, which sounded intriguing--so I'll definitely be back to try it! Overall, King Tut's has great flavors and welcoming service, and I look forward to returning to explore more of their menu. read more

A fantastic gyro place. Obviously they serve other Mediterranean dishes, but personally I always go for the gyro because it is best in class for me. Amazingly well prepared and served with extra salad or fries or rice, your choice. I have to say, the kitschy sarcophagus and other Egyptian ephemera are a corny but wonderful addition to the decor. we were on magnolia street looking for dinner, and while our first choice was italian food, the line to get seated was too long so we opted for this place instead. this place is located at the end of magnolia street, and when we first walked up, it looked a bit run down from the outside with metal grates. however, the inside felt like it transported you to a different country. i loved all the interior decor. they had murals and statues of Egyptian pharaohs, which was extremely unique. as for the food, it was all right. we ended up getting a chicken shawarma pita sandwich and a regular beef shawarma plate. the plate came with a salad and fries or rice (i opted for the fries). the salad was refreshing and light. the chicken shawarma was seasoned with tahini, and was a bit messy to eat. the beef shawarma was seasoned with some onions and tomatos and also came with a side of tahini. Service was good, they came by to check and were extremely friendly. what i didn't like about this place is that they didn't serve regular water. they said since covid, they don't give out free water. so, if you want water, you'll need to pay for it. it was such a weird experience to pay for water, especially in america. i would understand if we were in europe, but come on... i don't think i've been to any restaurant in america where you need to pay for water. read more

Great Mediterranean food. Definitely get the baba ganoush and the hummus, served with warm pitas. When you get chicken schwarma, make sure you put the tahini on top to add the flavor. Me and my girlfriend visited here for the first time last week as part of our "Random DateNight Adventures", and so this is probably the first time we've been to an Egyptian themed restaurant. I would like to first say that the mood of the restaurant was fantastic! The music wasn't too loud, the decorations were pretty and interested, and the staff were very happy to help us. There were only a couple other tables when we were there, but we went in the middle of the week about 1.5 hours before close. There's a window behind the register/counter where you can see the chef walking around and cooking, and he seemed to be enjoying his job! This translated to the food as well. We ordered: -Sambosa w/ the meat and veggies. We loved these! They were very obviously fresh and very hot -King Tut Salad. This salad was one I would actually eat! I'm not much for salad, but the "special house" dressing they added made it delicious! -King Tut Combo. I ordered this as I wanted a sample of the menu but couldn't make up my mind on which kabob or kafta I wanted. This plate was massive! I ended up having enough leftover to take to work for lunch the next day. It was delicious both the first time and reheated the next day -Chicken Breast Couscous. My girlfriend ordered this and said she loved it as well! I tried a bite of the couscous and while it wasn't my favorite, it was fresh and she seemed to enjoy it. My husband ordered the King Combo dinner portion--which included sliced beef and a side of French fries--while I enjoyed the Chicken Kabob with a side of vegetables. We were in the neighborhood and wanted Medi food and decided to stop here. A tiny bit expensive for what you get, but the food was pretty good. I ordered the mixed meat platter and it looked the best out of what everyone got. The best part was probably the grilled vegetables honestly, which were seasoned really well and tender. The chicken was okay but the steak was definitely a bit dry. Also seasoned well, but for the price, I'd expect it to be a bit more tender. My boyfriend ordered one of their lunch specials which was smaller on the portion size but he seemed to enjoy his kofta and fries. My friends ordered a falafel salad and didn't have an issue. Omgosh! Talk about delicious. The appetizers, Cucumber dip, meat pies and Dolmas were sooooo good and tasty. Our salad arrived and I can't be going to tell you how fresh and good it was. The dressing, so tasty I asked if they sold it by itself? And of course they did and of course I got a bottle to go! If you've been wanting to try this place like I have for a while I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. The lunch specials were reasonably priced and the food was very tasty. I got the chicken shawarma and it came out nice and hot. The salad sever before it was very crisp and tasty and the dressing on the salad was nice. We got the hummus and it was obviously made fresh along with the pita bread that came out warm and soft. Overall this place has great food. The vibe is ok. Really satisfying Mediterranean dishes. The felafel salad is a go to for when I just want some veggies. (The dressing must be made from scratch, as is the humus dip.) Chicken Swarma (?) is my kids favorite (aside from the pita and humus) and I also enjoy the gyro. They serve the perfect salt brine pickles too. Full disclosure, we prefer take out from here (thus the rating). Being on Magnolia, this one is old school but less "charmingly old school" and just kinda old. The staff are wonderful though but I just don't love the atmosphere. We were being adventurous and hitting up crappy places comes with the territory. It was so bad it ruined my Friday night. I've become a habitual takeout customer here. Not all take out survives the travel to my house outside of town ; the trip usually requires a reheat. King Tut's menu items survive reheat and are still delicious. Also : falafels here are the bomb! Hot out of the oven, covered with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and seasoned with something mildly spicy in the dough. Don't wait till you get home to consume. King Tut is a cute lil neditsrrian place on the corner of magnoila. They actually offer quite a bit of options and have a full menu for vegan/vegetarian eaters. The decor here is nice and simple with some status here and there which were kind of cool. The customer service here isn't bad either. The young man there even accomdated us appropriately. As for the food, although there were several choices for all different type of eaters, I found myself comparing even the pita bread to other Mediterranean places. The pits bread was delic and so was the salad. I ordered a vegan dish that was more like a thick curry dish a d I wasn't all that pleased. Mainly because for some reason I thought that it would be loose curry. I also ordered the rice pilaf on the side and it tasted like rice pilaf. My husband ordered a lamb plate of some sort and he felt that it was okay. Overall, I gave this KT 3 stars mainly because there was nothing that really wowed me or my husband. They were good and just that. Although I wasn't wowed I definitely plan on trying them again. I look forward to updating my review when I visit again. read more
