Fantastic food - I should wait to try more off the menu but have to rave about it first. Visited on a Friday afternoon, thankfully during their lunch special hours of 11-230 daily. By the time we walked through the door to the time we had our soups there could not have been more than 7 minutes that had passed. Started with a Vietnamese-styled coffee which was a nice punch of flavor and energy for the afternoon. We both had the chicken fried rice, as recommended by our waitress, with soup for $5.50. I've tried at least two other pho place in Indianapolis and this one is the best one yet. The place is located in a run down strip mall and the place inside was small. There are free parking outside but not many parking spaces. We were seated right away and the place was still busy around 8pm on Friday. They have great price for lunch specials, which I think it's definitely worth a try the next time. I had pho with beef. Food came out quick and the beef were sliced thin so it wasn't cooked all the way when I've got my food, but since it's a thin slice, it cooks as you eat it from the hot broth. It comes with fresh thyme, bean sprouts, lime and peppers. They do have regular or large size. Regular size was more like large size to me. It was a big portion. The broth wasn't greasy like other places I've tried. Service was fine, nothing over the top. I would come back here. Side note: pho is a great hungover food. It's known in Asia. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants and definitely the best vietnamese food you can find in Indianapolis. I'm here about once a week -- the food never disappoints, and the waiters are friendly and consistent. Their phos are delicious of course, (#101 is the classic with beef) but if you're looking for something new try #78, crispy noodles smother with chicken, beef, vegetables, and seafood. My sister and I were in town for a concert and wanted some late night comfort food. The inside of the restaurant is nice with a cool aquarium. The staff worked quickly and were very polite. Stay Away!!!!!! I ordered general tso chicken and fried rice and a side of crab rangoon. It was delivered and what I got was some corn starch coated fried chicken pieces in a box with some syrup poured into the bottom of the container. The rice was old and disgusting and there was nothing inside of the crab rangoon shells. This was the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. My mother highly recommended King Wok after recently dining there with a friend. All I can say this this: "My God, Mom, you were right!" I have been here before and enjoy it. The most recent visit was with a group from International Marketplace Coalition. The group visits a location twice a month. It's a great way to be introduced to local cuisine. I ordered Banh Cuon Cha Lua which is thin steamed rice flour cakes with chopped pork, mushrooms and bean sprouts. The serving was generous and quite attractive. I have had similar rice dishes and found this to be delicious. It was a mixture of crunchy bean sprouts and soft rice cakes. The dish is served with a rice vinegar which adds a whole new flavor. The five guests sharing the table said their food was good. Almost all of us took home a doggy bag. I think we almost overwhelmed the restaurant with our numbers. I didn't give it five stars but it was close to earning the fifth! read more

I'm not sure why King Wok fell off our restaurant rotation in past few years, other than lots of new restaurants, but it had. The restaurant is small with only a few tables which are normally full during lunch and dinner rush but easy to work around. Don't let seating discourage you since carryout is VERY popular here and they do it well and FAST. The owners are so friendly plus great about answering menu questions. The food quality and prices are both terrific where you'll find the traditional Chinese food as well as Vietnamese. Nine lunch specials are ONLY $4.75 and the remaining lunch options only $6.99. Very affordable for lunch and dinner as well. The majority of their dinner menu is $7.50 or less. Specialties and family sized entrees obviously run slightly more but still a value. We've enjoyed everything so far. A couple of the highlights outside of Chinese is #88 Grilled marinated pork chops with pork meat pie, shrimp and rice is popular at our house as well as #76 and #79 Egg Noodles with shrimp, beef, chicken and vegetables or #41 Vietnamese Rice Cakes filled with shrimp, pork and onions. Perfect place for an authentic dinner experience! This place is clean and cozy enough to welcome you whether you are alone, with a date or with a bunch of friends! I am left pleasantly surprised and proud that Indy has such a nice place to offer with very authentic Vietnamese food. The menu is quite impressive, filled with hue recipes including appetizers, soups and main courses. I had the shrimp dumplings and #84. Basically a big filling bowl with chicken, egg, shrimp n vermicilli noodles served with the fish and soy sauce. Well prepared, well served and well priced! One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Indianapolis. Interestingly this is a restaurant that specializes in Vietnamese dishes from a specific region in Vietnam, Hue. The restaurant's name old name, Nha Hang Co Do, means Co Do restaurant in Vietnamese. Co Do is a town in Hue. One of the most well known dishes from that region is Bun Bo Hue or Hue Beef noodle soup. This is my go to place for that dish and other hue dishes like Bun Hen. I prefer to get the non soup Vietnamese dishes here. The sauce that goes with their spring rolls is delicious. I can eat those all day. The Bun Hen (noodles with baby clams) is spicy, fresh, light, and filling. For pho I prefer Sizzling Wok down the street since they give you a lot more for the same price. read more

I actually prefer this place over Saigon when it comes to a good bowl of hot steaming pho. Not that KingWok's pho is much better than Saigon's, they both serve pretty darn good pho. But I think KingWok might be slightly cheaper, and also the place is smaller and feels a bit more authentic. I've never been to this restaurant and we heard a few good things, so we decided to try it. Everything was delicious...a little on the sweet side, though. Next time we go we will order the noodle bowls...they're HUGE and look amazing. I ordered take out with my cousin. I ordered the Imperial Shrimp and she ordered the peppered Steak. Both meals were delicious. They came with white rice on the side. The shrimp was nicely cooked and they provided a fair amount. (Sometimes when ordering a shrimp dish you might feel cheated in some establishments, but this is not the case here). Service was kind of lacking here. At the end of our meal, it took a while for us to even get our check. And then even longer for someone to take our payment. It was maybe half full at best and they didn't seem busy/stressed. We were told that it was cash only because their machine was broken; not sure how often this happens but just thought I should mention it. The food was okay. The shrimp spring rolls seemed like they had been sitting for awhile. The rice paper was a tad bit chewy from getting dried out and the parts where there were multiple layers of rice paper was extremely chewy. The #100, the Pho Dat Biet I believe, was decent. My boyfriend felt that the broth wasn't flavorful enough but I thought it was okay. I've had more flavorful broths but I wouldn't consider it 'bland'. The #107 Bun Bo Hue was too oily for me. Flavor-wise it was also just decent. Not something I would order again from this particular restaurant. As for the prices and serving size, I would consider King Wok pretty average. I should mention that this is only the 2nd place in Indy that I've gone to for pho. I'm used to pho places in California (mainly Nor Cal) so maybe I'm being too harsh or I'm just not used to how people prefer the pho here. King Wok Nha Hang Co Do has an ordinary strip mall exterior, but they've got quite good food inside. We were quite impressed with the quality and value of the servings. Between the three of us, we had a beef roll appetizer, a large bowl of pho, a pork chop dish with rice, and a large and tasty, fresh serving of soft shell crabs (maybe 5 chopped up). All in, it was $42 after taxes but before tip. This is a good, authentic place and a nice find in a town that does not appear to have an abundance of good Asian places. If you're driving through Indianapolis on I-65 and want an alternative to fast food, then absolutely check out King Wok on the NW side of town just a few blocks from the freeway. And if you're a local on the west side, you should visit this small Asian restaurant that serves tasty Chinese food (all that I've eaten), but appears most popular for its Vietnamese cuisine, especially bowls. The lunch special, a ridiculously low $7.50 for a large serving of Hunan chicken, rice, soup and a spring roll, was what I chose, but I was in the minority with the majority of patrons (who were also majority Asian) ordering the bowls. Nevertheless, my Chinese food was yummy from the hot and sour soup with just enough spice for me, to the crisp, but not greasy spring roll, and generous main course. I was there on the early side so service was quick, but the place is small enough that I doubt you'd ever have to wait long for your entrée. My favorite new Pho' house. Relocating from Atlanta I was nervous about missing out on one of my favorite Asian dishes. King Wok made me so happy today. It was a first day of work in Indy and we decided to stop here for Pho. The location is great , right off of Lafayette Rd across from the mall. The price is amazing. It was $8.50 for the beef Pho but they have so many options. I'm use to having it with the Vietnamese meatballs which I don't care for so they have several options with and with out meatballs,pork,seafood,chicken. It comes with the bean sprouts and herbs and was ready with In 10 mins of our order being taken. The broth was fresh and refreshing. I promise I ate all of the noodles, meat, and veggies with only broth to share at the end. I have never eaten a entire bowl of Pho. The restaurant was very clean. Just found this gem. The beef pho is to die for, deeply flavorful, slightly sweet and tangy broth. Some of the best crab rangoon with sweet amd sour sauce I've had. Dangit. Why have I lived 5 minutes away and never come here?! (#facepalm). My husband and I came here for a date night on a weeknight and were pleasantly surprised; although the restaurant itself is not in the greatest part of town, the inside is warm and welcoming. Staff were accommodating and kind. Our food came out so quickly and everything was very clean. I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan (I probably spelled that wrong), which has been my favorite Chinese dish since childhood. This is the best I've EVER had. So much garlic, but not overpowering. I walked into this place not knowing what to expect. The full track list of Backstreet Boys was playing in the background, but the ambience was clean and nice. The service was attentive and kind right off the bat. I ordered the pork vermicelli dish for my entree and shrimp spring rolls to start. Both were delicious and as authentic as I've had anywhere else. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was served hot, which was different but I really enjoyed it that way.
