I got their Taiwanese pork chop plate which came with rice, tea egg, two sides and some pickled cabbage. I told myself that I wouldn't eat it all but it was so good that I did. The pork was tender and very flavorful. They also have a smaller plate but you'll want the full size. Also got some stinky tofu and cold cucumbers and learned that I don't like stinky tofu. To order there is a QR code on each table and you add on your phone and order. I got the braised pork with rice ($14) and my BF got the taiwanese pork chop over rice ($16). I also checked in on yelp and received a dish of free boiled peanuts. Braised pork wasn't the best I've had, but it was tender and saucy, not overly greasy and salty. The peanuts were soft and roasted to perfection. I tried my BF's pork chop and it was crispy and full of flavor, also not overly greasy and salty. Portion is huge so it's two meals worth for me. As a Taiwanese, Kingchops bento box has always the best in my memory. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed from my visit today. This time, I ordered Steamed Black Rice Cake (Pig Blood Cake), Pork Chop Rice and Taiwanese Fish Cake tempura. I am very disappointed in both the quality of the tempura and black rice cake. First of all, I couldn't stand eating the black rice cake after one single bite. When I asked about the sauce they are using for black rice cake, they are using the garlic sauce instead of traditional Taiwanese barbecue sauce or Satay sauce. Afterward, the employee didn't ask me whether there is anything I need but simply walked away. I had no chance to ask further questions. This black rice cake tasted very gamey and is not compatible with the sauce at all. The crushed peanuts didn't cover any of the gamey taste either. I would recommend the store to use peanut powder. Second, the tempura is too dry, and I couldn't stand it after one bite either. Lastly, Pork chop bento box is fine but the pork chop is too dry. The pork chop is too thin to keep it juicy. After driving for hours to visit, I am extremely disappointed from this visit and don't plan to visit again. Came here on a Sunday night and tried the pork chop rice, beef noodle soup, and the spicy wontons. My favorite of the three was the spicy wontons. Pork chop rice was solid but didn't like the small soup that it came with. Beef noodle soup was ok. You order through a QR code and they bring it out to you. Service was fine and you get a giant pitcher for water which works for me since I don't need to ask for more refills then. The inside is small and very bright. Doesn't seem comfortable for larger groups but fine for 2-4 people. The food was decent and pretty typical Taiwanese fare. My family arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm on a Saturday and it was empty. We were looking forward to enjoying some authentic Taiwanese cuisine and ordered through their QR menu at the table. After a short while, we started smelling cigarette smoke from inconsiderate people just outside the front door. Since my wife and daughter are sensitive to the smoke, I complained to the server and owner but they decided to do nothing about it and said "the smoke is not from us". Not sure if it was their responsibility to do something about it but we took matters into our own hands and changed it to a to-go order and left right away. The food was cold by the time we got home and had to reheat it. It probably would have been better tasting if we had stayed in the restaurant to enjoy it. That's the whole point of going out to eat, to enjoy a hot, freshly cooked meal. I was really excited about this place when I saw the pictures and when my friend recommended it. As soon as I got there, the place was packed and nowhere to sit so I had to wait a little while, maybe 10 minutes. We both got the pork chop rice which is a good portion size and the rice with the egg and the other ingredients. I was a little disappointed because it wasn't crispy all around, there were some parts that were a little soggy so I didn't like that part. And the rice was a little too mushy for me. The spicy wontons were also just okay, I always seem to compare it to Din Tai Dung and it definitely wasn't even close to that. But even if it didn't taste like that and it tasted different, then I would still appreciate it but I just didn't think there was a lot of flavor to these one. Check your bill!!! This is probably the sneakiest, most dishonest business practice I've ever seen for a restaurant. The food was ok, we all had a ok time, then the bill came... First they automatically imposed a 15% tip (listed as "Gratuity"). I saw that, thinking..alright, I have a problem with mandatory tip for a party of 3, but fine, I'll pay 15%. I would've pay 18% if they didn't force me to pay 15%. So then I was ready to check the 15% tip box and be done with. But wait! How is a total of $64 bill plus a 15% gratuity around $9 bucks add up to $82.58??!! It should only be around $73. Then it dawned on me...Are you kidding me?! You are actually trying to charge me double tip?! I don't know how many people got tricked this way and just check the box and paid, but ya'll just paid 30% tip without knowing!!! Not cool, Kingchops, NOT COOL. Responding to owner: first, I didn't do anything with my phone to add 15% gratuity, only ordered my food as the waitress instructed me to do. Second, even if this is truly a misunderstanding (as most restaurant owners always blame on the "Automatic POS system", can't do anything about it...) you would think now is the time to fix the problem so your customers don't fall for the mistake and "falsely accuse you" again? Or are you completely satisfied that your customers occasionally overpay? Last, I am not writing anything that isn't true, far from defaming your restaurant.
