My adult sons & I went to Chophouse Friday. When we've gone before food was great. This time, terrible. Steak was ordered rare, was medium well. Another steak ordered Medium well was rare. Strawberry margarita was small , I've ordered margaritas before but they have always been same size as Cadillac she said the bigger ones were Cadillac Margaritas. . Bill was over $250 we won't be back again. This place is hit or miss. Five years ago we moved here and needed a nice dinner. Our son and his wife took us to dinner and at $200 for the four of us plus a $50 tip we will thrilled. We went back a year later and all of our steaks were burnt. We asked for rare and med rare got well done. The manager said it wasn't their fault because they had a new grill that the "cook" wasn't used to! I guess that means he can't see when it burning and waitress can't see that all the steaks are overdone???? My wife and I went back for lunch a year ago for and both had the Salmon medium rare and vegetables, everything was perfect! My wife and I went to Christmas dinner there with 12 of our friends and Michelle treated us like gold, checked back regularly and the meal was great! My wife had Salmon and chocolate cake, I had the Flat Iron steak that they describe as very tender, 2nd only to Filet Mignon. The steak was tender and awesome, my wife's salmon cooked perfectly med rare. My wife and I went in for an early dinner a couple of months ago and I think the waitress name was "Lena" or "Nena" but she treated us awesome, checked back regularly and our food was awesome! We went into for an early Father's day dinner. My wife was very excited as I am not very sick and this is our 50th Father's Day together. She wanted to take me out and make it very special. She like always had the Salmon med rare and I had the Flat Iron steak again. When we got there there was only two other tables with people and one of them was just finishing their meal. My wife ordered the Salmon med rare and vegetables with chocolate cake for desert. I ordered the Flat Iron steak med rare. I told the waitress the my wife is very particular about her fish and to please make sure it was med rare. My wife asked for extra napkins. I got my salad and again asked for extra napkins. Halfway through my salad I had dressing on my chin and used my hand to wipe it off. My wife went and found somebody to bring us napkins. After I finished my salad that person brought the napkins. A little while after that our waitress brought us some napkins. Then after a long wait I called the waitress over and asked her to tell the cook that undercooked fish would be preferable to overcooked. I was concerned because salmon only takes a minute to cook. After awhile our food came and the fish was just ok. Cooked medium but still ok. My med rare Flat Iron steak was med well and the toughest steak I have ever eaten in my life! The waitress never came back to the table and when I was almost done with my steak I called her over and asked her if the meals came with bread. She said "Yes, your's does, do want some"? I don't know why else I would have asked. About the time I was finishing my steak she showed up with some obviously very microwaved bread that was more akin to rubber than bread. My wife then called her back and asked for her cake. She brought the cake and our ticket and said "I'll pick this up whenever you are ready". She then left again, never asked about our meal or anything. It has been a long long time since I didn't leave at least a 25% tip. The waitresses at our regular stops greet us at the door because they know how well I tip and how little I ask. This trip was one of those "misses". I can roll with anything, my wife not so much, she knows how sick I am and wanted this to be special. She is very hurt and shouldn't be. read more

Complete over charge. The quality of the steak was average at best. We were so disappointed when compared to the last time we were here. Really disappointed after reading the great reviews and then eating here. It was early evening with only two other tables with diners. Ordered a Rib Eye medium rare and it was slightly pink inside when I cut into it. The meat was tough/chewy, a little more than 1/2 inch thick, and small in overall size. There was no "marbling" in the meat (that, small veins of fat, is what makes a Rib Eye so tasty). My friend also ordered medium rare and his was closer to well done. The waitress was great and attentive and apologized for the overcooked steaks and provide free coffee and a desert. We were really looking forward to a great meal. Awful service, even more awful food, and the dining area is uncomfortable. When we went there we got the stuffed mushroom, they came soggy and oozing liquid. The steak I ordered tasted freezer burnt and was over cooked (asked for med rare) my husband other the lobster tail and it took over 30mins because we were told they broil it, was like chewing rubber off a tire. the woman in the bar area was on a call and was so loud, we were told later that she was actually the manage, she had her daughter there, she was at the bar sitting eating chips and had a Starbucks drink but she kept going in and out of the kitchen area. Didn't seem sanitary or professional to have your kid at work with you and letting here go back and forth into the kitchen. that was the 1st and last time we wasted our time or money here. read more

Michelle is the BEST!!! Ask for her for sure. In Kingman for a month, and eat in restaurants 4-5x/week. Steakhouses and Mexican are our mainstay jams. Service in Kingman is spotty at best, ESPECIALLY on Route 66, something we've rarely encountered anywhere, home or away. Some staff around town seem truly inconvenienced even having to deal with you. That was our experience at R-66's Dambar "Steakhouse" so we decided to try some non-R 66 steakhouse in search of a decent filet mignon & service that didn't suck. Our 1st visit to Chophouse was a mess. We had 3 different servers. You'd think 3 servers, wow, they were on top of it. Nope. Assume it was a shift change. The 3rd server was nice enough, but we had to flag her down twice to get a 2nd round of cocktails (this is a common theme in Kingman per the reviews I've read: they take your order, drop your food and drop your check. That's the 3 times you get any attention unless you literally hunt someone down. No follow up "how's it tasting?", "need another round?", etc. Anyway, dinner came out and our $40 filet was well done, not medium as ordered. Sent it back - 1st time we've ever done that, ever. The replacement took about 20 minutes, so we had to flag her down again for round 3 cocktails while waiting. Whatever. The new loaded mashed potatoes looked nothing like the 1st ones, which looked much yummier, so just guessed "shift change" in the kitchen too. So we decided to take another run at it, on our anniversary no less, because it was the only place we could find filet, except Dambar, which was an absolute no-go after our terrible experience there (food & service). Thankfully, we were TOTALLY IMPRESSED this time!! From our first contact with Michelle, until we finally left, she was stellar. After standing at the front for about 30 seconds, Michelle greeted us with a smile, welcomed us, and asked "table or booth?" - booth. "Bar or dining room?" Bar (for faster bar service), not realizing she was also the bartender. She served us from beginning to end even though 2 other servers started their shift about 1/2 way through or experience. Although she was the only bartender for an ever increasing amount of guests while we were there, she never missed a beat, and even spent a few minutes chatting with us at one point while we were waiting on the food. When ordering, we told Michelle about the previous well done experience. Not sure if it made a difference, or if we just had a chef that knew how to cook a filet properly (to order). The filet this time was cooked to perfection. Also, not once were we like "where's Michelle?" She was super attentive, and worth every penny of the 25% tip we left on a $109 check. I only wish we had cash, since that's usually what we tip with. After we were done eating and packing up what we couldn't finish, she brought us a piece of cheesecake on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" on it in chocolate syrup. Totally didn't expect that. It made me cry, and I gave her a huge hug. Seriously, we haven't ever had a server like her except from our hometown, where everyone knows and loves us. Not sure if we'll be through Kingman anytime in the near future, but highly recommend the Chophouse, especially if you ask for Michelle. read more
