Omg, I finally found a genuine and fantastic place for eel and soju! I'm so happy I discovered this spot -- will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely fabulous with variety of food choices, a balance of flavor from sauce and food, although the food became plain and bored when eaten for a period of time. Service are amazing through worker enthusiastically vibe and their constant provision. The restaurant gives a classy BBQ place and the view (workers) are beautiful.

Newly opened Korean restaurant specializes on pork rib on real charcoal grill. My husband and I wanted to check the place out and stopped for a simple bbq dinner during the weekdays. The restaurant interior has been renovated with fresh paint and decor. The nice marble looking tables were setup with new grills and overhead ventilation systems shaped like a giant bell looked clean. Our server was most gracious and attentive. She came to our table to grill the meat for us and frequently asked us if everything was good with our meal. I liked all their side dishes ( banchan) especially the salad that was mixture of green onions and lettuce and light seasoning. I asked for more salad and she was very happy to bring the second serving without extra charge. First we had marinated beef boneless short rib to start. The server grilled the meat perfectly. Second, we had their famous marinated pork rib - lightly seasoned but full of flavor. It was also tender and very delicious For the time being, all their alcoholic beverages are 50% off - grand opening special, I think. I'm definitely going back soon to try other things on the menu.

I'd never been there before, so this review is all about first impressions. As we approached, the sign caught my attention: "Under New Ownership." Outside, an employee sat scrolling on his phone. It was a quiet Sunday around 3 PM, and we were the only patrons in sight. Checking Yelp beforehand had been a bit of a letdown, as their menu featured items they no longer offer. No links were available either. We ordered half a pound of pulled pork, half a pound of brisket, and four pieces of cornbread--all priced reasonably. Their tap selection turned out to be decent. The Cali Squeeze Blood Orange was a standout, and they also seemed to carry Firestone Walker products, including 805. The staff were friendly and responsive, which was refreshing. While the brisket had cooled by the time we got home, it was still tender and flavorful--just like the pulled pork. The real surprise? The chimichurri that accompanied the brisket--an unexpected and delightful touch. Overall, I'd rate the experience as average. While it's clear they've got potential, a bit more effort could turn Wholly Smokes into a go-to spot. Leaning in on those small details would really elevate the experience.

Not only was I completely stuffed by the end, but every course felt so thoughtfully selected that I left feeling truly nourished within my body and soul. We ordered the Premium Han-Jeongsik, which featured a non-stop parade of incredible small plates: porridge, salad, radish water kimchi, spicy beef tartare, pan-fried sliced beef, braised short ribs, glass noodles with assorted vegetables, savory pancakes, seasonal scallops, and a rich kimchi stew. The dining experience felt wonderfully elegant as each course was brought out sequentially, allowing us to fully savor every unique flavor and texture. To top it off, they finished with my favorite sweet rice punch to cleanse the palate. While it certainly isn't cheap, this is definitely a "celebrate a special occasion or pretend you're royalty for an evening" kind of place. Lastly, the exceptional service makes every penny worth it. If you want to experience authentic, high-end Korean cuisine, look no further.

All the meat was really good and better than most Korean BBQ places I've been to. I would highly recommend this place if you don't mind paying the price

You can get food every 1.5 hours while in the park, which is enough to share between 2 people if you're good about getting meals on time. Chicken (8/10) - Comes with Cornbread + 1 side (we got mac and cheese) - Regarding the chicken itself...YUM! Juicy, soft, and HUGE! It's not just a single thigh, but literally half a chicken. It's a huge portion size for 1 person, meaning easily sharable between 2 people. Roasted until the outside is relatively crispy while maintaining a juicy interior - Cornbread was good, nothing special yet nothing bad about it - Mac and Cheese was slightly on the drier side, but still paired super well with the chicken Overall, great option and great portion sizes at the Boardwalk BBQ! Definitely go for the all day dining ticket if possible, otherwise prices may seem a little steep. Next time will definitely be back to try the brisket.

I had brought my own raw almonds so I added that for protein. Kind of pricy at $17.99 (especially because I forgot to pick up the salad dressing), so I was glad to have my 10% discount from my pass. They were setting up for live music on the tiny bandstand by the outdoor seating as we were finishing up. (At about 7). Service was okay but I think the cashier was confused when I showed her my pass. She asked, "oh, do you want to use your 10% discount now?"--are you surprised? When else would I use it? I feel like a yelper that's been living under rocks. Can't believe I never heard of this place…read moreuntil I recently saw my fellow yelper Van D's review. This is western BBQ with an Asian flair. I think the flavor is better and slightly less heavy than a traditional American BBQ. Everything was so packed with flavor, can't really pick a favorite among so many great proteins. Smoked Brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a nice smokey taste. Green Curry Sausage was definitely unique with a really nice Thai infused flavors. Was slightly spicy with strong green curry and lemongrass flavors. Canton Bowl, which comes with smoked pork belly char siu, siu yuk (pork belly with super crispy skin), and coconut rice, was excellent as well. The siu yuk was really good with super crispy/crunchy skin. House-made BBQ sauces were quite good. I really like the gochujang bbq sauce. It has decent amount of heat with a sweet & spicy taste. The regular house BBQ sauce has a tangy, sweet taste with a very subtle heat. It's located at Cottage Industries. Not exactly sure what to call it. It's somewhat like a small community of restaurants and shops with a garden and a play area for kids. Parking is very limited so will most likely need to park on the streets along residential area. Service is minimal. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to let you know when the food is ready. Seating is only available outside in the covered patio area but you can also pick any of the community tables and chairs within Cottage Industries.

Here's a Yelp-ready version that keeps the review fair while pointing out what worked and what…read moredidn't: Came to Smoke Queen BBQ in Garden Grove with my parents for Friday lunch. I've heard about their Asian and Texas-style BBQ fusion, so we were excited to finally give them a try. Walking in, the place immediately reminded me of some of the BBQ joints I've been to in the South. It has that casual BBQ patio vibe where the focus is really on the meats and sides. We ordered the 4 Meats + 4 Sides so we could sample a little bit of everything. For our meats, we got 1/2 lb brisket, 1/2 rack of pork ribs, 1/2 lb pork belly (siu yuk), and 1/2 lb char siu. I also added a sausage because I wanted to give that a try. Our favorites were definitely the brisket and sausage. The brisket had good flavor and was the standout meat for us. The sausage was also really good and something I would order again. The siu yuk had a really nice crunch from the crackling skin, but unfortunately the meat itself lacked flavor. The pork ribs were well seasoned, but ours were pretty dry and didn't have much meat on the bones. The char siu was interesting because it's definitely different from the traditional Chinese BBQ char siu you would get from a place like Sam Woo. I can appreciate their take on it, but it wasn't one of our favorites. For our four sides, we chose the tallow fries, shells and cheese, spicy cucumber, and cornbread. Honestly, the sides were all a hit. We enjoyed every one of them and would order all four again. The sides might have actually been the most consistent part of our meal. Service was good. The staff were helpful, friendly, and made the experience easy. The ambiance has that casual BBQ joint and patio feel, which fits the food perfectly. Parking is probably something to keep in mind. They have a small parking lot along with street parking nearby. We came on a Friday for lunch, but I can easily see parking becoming challenging on weekends when they're busy. Overall, Smoke Queen BBQ was an interesting experience. It wasn't the best BBQ my family and I have had, but it definitely wasn't the worst either. What makes this place stand out is the unique combination of Asian flavors with Texas-style BBQ. I'm glad we gave it a try, but for my family and me, this is probably a one-and-done spot.
